Women 200lb+, Let's Start Strong This January!!!

@goal06082021 Way ahead of you, lol. My pantry is unreasonably tall, so much that I, a nearly 6 ft tall woman, need a step stool to reach the top shelf. Most of the cookies are hiding there. Current box is in the freezer and I pack a single serving with my lunch.2
-
What helps me with cookies is taking out just the serving size (or whatever calorie allowance I've given myself) and then reminding myself that there will still be cookies tomorrow, next month, next year. Don't eat them like it's the only time you'll ever have cookies in your life. That has allowed me to still enjoy Oreos and I've always felt satisfied after the 3 cookies.5

@danikat15 @goal06082021 @kenziestabes y'all are inspiring. I *love* Girl Scout cookies (and supporting Girl Scouts!) so I've been teetering. But truly, there's nothing in the world like two or three frozen Thin Mints on a hot awful day in July, so I'm going to use your strategies to get me some. I will divide them up (no eating a whole sleeve!) and THEN freeze them and I will *make them last.*
I can do this.
In other news, After my post Friday, I cried a bit, got some sleep, then flipped the double-bird at that whole week. I've now reset my routines to what I did last time I lost weight (overnight oatmeal for breakfast, salad for lunch, and honestly can't remember but I'll figure it out for dinner) and I'm down 1.6 pounds since the gain-fest last week. Still hoping to make my goal of -5 pounds this month. I really really REALLY want to leave this decade, where I've been hovering since mid-September. (Ah, I was so happy to get to it back then...)
Two pounds to go!6 -
Turns out meal prepping only works when you remember to bring the lunch you packed with you to work. oops.6

Whoops. Happens to the best of us! One way I've found to salvage a day like that is to basically swap lunch and dinner - eat my prepped lunch for dinner that night, and "spend" the calories I had allocated for dinner on something else to eat at lunchtime. Dinner tends to be my biggest meal, so that gives me a little more wiggle room if the only available options are a bit richer than I normally have for lunch.4 -
I just went to Chick-fil-a because they have some lower calorie options for fast food. lol4

OMG I had this same chat with myself 2 weeks ago and it worked! If I can't have the cookies today, I can always PLAN to eat them another time. It's not the last time I'm ever going to eat cookies, for crying out loud, I don't know why I was stuck in that rut. I buy the mini bags of Frosted Animal Cookies and when I plan what I'm going to eat that day I just allow for them. If I can't fit them in on that day, I can always eat them on another day. I just waited 3 days because I couldn't fit them in, but you know what? I was very much OK with that now. Tomorrow I won't get to eat them because I eat a loaded baked potato on Wednesday's. But they are not going anywhere, they will be there when I'm ready for them.5 -

My weigh-in day's are Tuesday's.
Goals for 2022:
- Plan what I will eat each morning and track everything I eat. Done
- Drink 6 glasses of water a day Done
- Read 1 book a month - Done, I'm on my 4th book now.
- Clean out my Closet my March 1st. On a planned break.
- Reach my goal weight by August 1st Maybe or Maybe Not
- Walk 3000 steps per day I did miss a day last week.
- Try 1 new recipe a month. I tried my Boc Choy recipe, it was delicious
- Update F2F Daily
- Keep up with F2F 40 things to do in 2022! I'm either working on this or thinking about it.
I've been working hard vacuuming, scrubbing and mopping our upper deck in anticipation of the new freezer arriving on the 31st. I'm ready for it now. Tonight, I got the Christmas Boxes put back in the Closet and the Sheets on the bed changed out. I will vacuum the entire house tomorrow. I'm staying true to my calorie counting and meal planning and I'm thinking about my next new recipe. I have made tons of progress in the mental aspect of losing weight, it's been hard but eye opening. It's always hard to take a good long look at myself and try to change what I see. But little by little, day by day I'm changing. I'm not perfect, but I do my very best and that's all I can ask of myself.
One of my goals is to not leave the clothes in the dryer, but that is just not real life. Maybe I should change it to: do not leave the clothes in the dryer for more than 2 days at a time.5 -

My name is Jennifer. I live in St. Louis with my husband and daughter. In 2013, I lost 50 lbs. by using MFP and then life got in the way. I'm at my heaviest now and seriously need to get the weight off. My health and life depend on it. My biggest struggle is sodium intake. I cannot get below my daily limit. It drives me crazy.

hee...will you need to stick a magnetic dry erase board to the dryer to make sure you *know* how long something has been there? (I'm not judging--in my house since all three of us do our own laundry, stuff often sits in the dryer till the next person needs to use it.)

Hello! I am very excited to find such an encouraging group!

I have been obese most of my life. I lost 75 lbs ten years ago by counting calories and exercising. Then due to a multitude of life changes and depression I gained it all back. I have been pretty hard on myself about that but I finally came to the realization that if I did it once, I can do it again!
I am excited to be back on this journey. I keep reminding myself how great I felt when I was lighter and that I did actually enjoy the journey the first time around.
I started out last year by buying a fit bit and being aware of how much, or more accurately, how little I was moving. I started trying to walk more places.
Then in December of this year I decided to start counting calories again. I started right before Christmas because I told myself that its ok to go over a bit here and there during the holidays but that I need to be mindful of what I eat even during special occasions. I have continued to count calories into the new year. I'm not as strict as I would like to be but again I am reminding myself that this is a marathon and every day I am learning better habits that will carry me into life long health.
My latest goal is to lose a two year old! My son weighs 30 lbs and I want to be able to pick him up and say I lost this amount of weight. I have been increasing my exercise by purchasing the RingFit Adventures game for the Switch! It's a lot of fun and is a good mix of cardio and body weight exercises for my current fitness level.
Thanks for reading my story. Here we go! We got this!6 -
It's not an official weigh-in, but I just wanted to document here that I saw 193 on the scale this morning! I might-could get within spitting distance of my goal of 192 for the month!
I've got a jam-packed weekend ahead of me. Saturday is the Ultrawalkathon AND I'm attending a wedding that evening - I've got to get up early so I have time to get cute after racking up all my steps! And then Sunday is a bridal shower for my SIL (who is getting married next month), which isn't *all* day, but it's in the middle of the day and will probably be pretty exhausting especially on top of Saturday's festivities, so my time outside of that is pretty limited for stuff like meal prepping. Chipotle bowls are next in the rota but I might skip 'em in favor of something that's quicker to prep, like doubling up on chicken salad for two weeks in a row.
I'm excited for the Ultrawalkathon. It's part of the Reddit r/LoseIt Challenge - I participated in the last challenge and had a great time during that Ultrawalkathon, racking up about 26,000 steps (walking ~11 1/2 miles) in a single day. My original goal was 15,000 but I blew past that in practically no time, so I decided to just keep going, and eventually called my husband to bring me home. This time I'm aiming for an even 30k (~13 miles and change). Haven't decided yet if I'll plot a 7-mile course from home to Point B and then just turn around and go back the way I came, or walk until I cain't no more and call my husband to come rescue me again, LMAO. The whole thing should take me about six hours. Were it not for the wedding that evening I think I would aim higher (50k steps???), but I know I'll need time to recover, to say nothing of showering and getting dressed and all that. Maybe next challenge!6 -
Ah wedding season. My brother's wedding last October is what originally spurred me in early July to start focusing on weight loss again. I ended up losing about 22 pounds by the actual event.
30k steps is an awful lot of steps! But you've crushed a pumpkin between your thighs. You've got this!4 -

This happens to me sometimes too. I’ve taken my lunch bag to work without my lunch ! Lol! so I keep RX Bars, tuna packs, and squeeze applesauce in my desk and my car. It’s also convenient for those days when I’m still hungry after I eat. I’ll say “well tuna, bar, or apple sauce”, if non of it sounds good then I know I’m not really hungry :-). I like keeping them in my car too for the day when errands are taking too long and I find myself thinking about driving through somewhere to get something. Open the console and wha la!!! Food.5 -

damn right I did!! I came pretty close to 30k last time, so it feels doable.
Now I just need to figure out what I'm wearing to this wedding. The forecast is almost 30F colder than is normal for this time of year - high of 58F for the day, the wedding starts at 5 PM and is outdoors on a beach/pier, so definitely some amount of windy. 58F walking around in the sunshine will be pleasant, 58F and falling in the darkening wind will be...markedly less so, I think. I don't really have an appropriate piece of outerwear, that's both at the right level of formality for a wedding and also at the right level of warm for sitting still outside on a 40-to-50-degree windy evening. I had some blazers that didn't *really* fit so I donated them during the Great Closet Purge of 2022, those would not quite have hit the right note but it would have been in the right key, at least. Moreso than my other options, which are "black hoodie, probably warm enough but way too casual," or "black cardigan, not warm enough but closer to appropriate for a wedding."3 -
I had a bad day yesterday. I have a hard time when I go out to eat. I just eat whatever I want and tell myself to "treat yo self" and just suffer for the rest of the day. I planned on not eating anything else for the rest of the day, but ended up having a bowl of cereal at the end of the day. ugh. all in all, it was not a good day. But my back is finally better so I think I'm going to go to the gym today. It's a new day! I'm sooooo close to onederland. just gotta hold strong!!
I hope everyone has a good day5 -

❄️ Pack my lunch
❄️ Limit Alcohol to once every two weeks and only 2 🍷
❄️ Treadmill three times a week
I had hoped I'd make it to Onederland this week but it's not meant to be. But I'm not upset. I had a snafu with my scheduling and meal planning that resulted in us eating fast food two days in a row (although I kept the calories under my limit). And then I also started working out this week. So I expect the weight loss to slow a little and be a little less predictable for awhile. And I'm ok with that.
I went through my closet about a month or so ago and got rid of stuff I don't wear. Last night, I actually took everything out and tried on stuff and purged a great deal more. Warm weather stuff I assumed fit were hanging off my body. It was absolutely mind boggling. I'm also getting a lot more comments from coworkers about my weight which is great.4 -
I'm super late here, but I seriously need this group in my life. Started the end of September and slacked over the holidays and I'm now getting back on track again after my entire house has been dealing with covid the last 2 weeks. I am a SAHM of 4, (3,4,13,15). I lived religiously on MFP after my 2nd and lost 20lbs then had to have my gallbladder removed and I just never got back on track. Over the next 10 years I gained that weight back and was at 200lb when I got pregnant with #3. After 2 back to back pregnancies, that weight just wanted to hang round. My first hurdle is to just get back under 200. I've lost 12 lbs. so far. It's been slower because I'm trying to make it a lifestyle and make changes that will stay. I'm happy with the slowness because being 'off track' most of the last 2 months, I've maintained which I wouldn't have if I wasn't making lifestyle changes along the way.

They sell thermal tights (even skin colored ones) on amazon for $20. They came to my rescue during winter time formal events where I was expected to wear a skirt. I feel that long sleeved, knee length dresses aren't too difficult to find and have different levels of formality. Is the reception indoors? If so, most of the pictures with you in them are going to be inside, when you aren't wearing a coat or jacket, so that should matter less. But then again, I've always been a fan of throwing a leather jacket on over a dress, so I might be biased.

Very busy week for work this week so haven't come to the site too much. Have been working on water this week mainly but haven't been too good with it.
Birthday was good. Did end up with 2 cakes which I was fine with. I had planned to freeze DHs but mom still complained a bit when we were down to 1 piece that I had expected to have. Not sure if it's talking to her and she's giving pressure to herself when I'd be fine having all of it. Explaining the why I had planned for both didn't end too well.
The snow coming has paused the gym a bit, along with going to visit my quarantined cat. I can bring her back tomorrow so I can get back to going on a regular basis soon, even if it's without my friend.4 -
Ladies, I managed to do 15 inclined push-ups in a row today! Hands were on a surface just below hip height. I think I'm going to try to move to where my hands are positioned on a surface at knee height next week. Making progress on my goal to do 20 real push-ups this year.7

Back at it! After slowly regaining about 25lb that I lost back in 2017.... time to get back at it. This time I have a VERY supportive husband who is doing MFP even though he only has 10lb to lose. He told me he'd keep tracking as long as I do even when he hits his goal just so I keep doing it too. Love him!

Have logged everything that entered my mouth for the last four weeks. Will continue to do so! Set MFP at 1.5/week. Main goal is to stay below calories although I am keeping an eye on staying under in carbs and sodium as well.
I'm a long way away from any long term goals. My first target is 27lb lost (10% loss) which is less than 9lb from now... No timeline set for it . . . but at 1.5lb/week then hoping for mid-March.
That will also be more than I lost in 2017 which felt really good so I'm looking forward to that.
Haven't incorporated a lot of exercise yet. TBH, I want to get to that 10% level before attempting anything more than walks as I want to get to a healthier weight first before injurying myself. Excuse I know but that's what stalled/stopped my weight loss in 2017.
Weather will improve soon so more outdoor time!

This week I didn't lose as much as I hoped and I'm pretty sure it is because I am not sleeping. When I don't sleep, I don't lose. The thing that is infuriating is that I lost 4 pounds over the last month. That was my goal for the month of January. But I'm not happy because I'm not losing faster. If you had told me on 1/1 that I would lose 4 pounds this month I would have been thrilled but now I'm annoyed that I didn't lose more.6 -

Well I’m nowhere near my monthly goal weight. I am shocked that I had a loss as I went way off track this week!! It was one of the most stressful weeks I’ve had in years. Our administration is making us re-hire a man who was fired back in July. He is a nightmare! He is completely against management and turned people against each other. Things were finally getting better in our department. Sorry I just had to vent!! I can not allow this man child to throw me off track in my weight loss journey!!!!4 -

That's so awesome that you have a supportive husband!! I'm envious of just having a partner that you can bounce ideas off of and track together. I feel like that's such a good way to stay on course!
I've had a challenging couple days. I had fast food a couple times (i tracked it and stayed within) but I just feel kind of low energy and like crap. I'm going to make some real food this weekend. I also hurt my back a little while ago and haven't been going to the gym. I work on Monday so I don't want to overdue it before I go back. I am SO CLOSE to onederland, that I just have to stay strong.4
