January is done and I managed 127km - less than half last January's effort (although that one was a whopper). I think I am mostly on top of my ankle injury now - lots of yoga and massage - so I have high hopes for next month. On that note, has anyone set up the February thread?5

Not a scheduled rest day but it is POURING RAIN outside. I have met my mileage for the month so I am calling it a rest day. LOL.
@kgirlhart seems like our weather this week is going to be sucky so if you HAD to be sick maybe this is the best week for it. Hope you have a mild case and speedy recovery my friend.4 -

Yeah, I am supposed to run after work today and the rain is at a 97-100% chance here by then. I guess I will see how heavy it is and make the call then. I don't mind running in the rain unless it is pouring.3 -

A quick update from me now I'm back from camping and work lol.
Basically I just lost my mojo for anything running. I did keep running, mostly from habit but nothing planned. I felt rudderless I guess.
January I did a run streak challenge and ran every day in January! That was neat though going for a 1k run when sick just to keep the streak going was not fun. It was a handy way to confirm I was too sick for work though haha. For my effort I won my entry into the HM in June back! This is a race cancelled from last year. And I find now I really want to run this race. I'm starting to feel excited for a race again.
Today is the 1st Feb and I'm thinking a rest day. Lol.6 -

I made it to the 100 mile club!! It seems like it has been a long while since that has occurred so I am pretty happy to have gotten it done!

Beautiful and cloudy and cool out! I don't know why the mountains always stand out more when it is cloudy than when they are against a bright blue sky. They were beautiful today and later in the run the clouds were breaking up a little.

@AlphaHowls Glad your ribs are feeling better. If that groundhog knows what is good for him, he'll predict a short winter. I'm sure you can outrun him.

I walked 1.4 miles after work today, so made 50 miles total of running plus walking for the month. I go to the ortho in the morning to get the second opinion on my back. Fingers crossed that he says running is okay.8 -

Monday was my last run of the month - didn’t get a lot done this month but I did run regularly despite everything which was my goal.
We went out to the far side of the Wolf river and ran 5k out to the river, walked back. I guess we look like runners because when we arrived this giant man trotted out from the woods shouting “It’s a perfect running day, I thought it was too hot but it’s perfect, you’re going to love it! Trails aren’t muddy or anything!” Seriously this guy, six and a half feet tall and perfectly built for running, just loping along at six minute pace like it ain’t no thang. Anyway it felt nice to be recognized as part of the club, most people out there are walkers or horseback riders. We passed two groups of riders in fact, and many nice doggies and their masters. And tall guy was right, it was a beautiful day.
I felt like I was riding the struggle bus the whole way, then when I looked at my Strava later I had a pr for the 3 mile out segment - apparently I’ve done it 13 times and never faster than 11 something mile pace? It’s kind of flat and mostly easy going so that surprises me. But it made me feel better to see I wasn’t doing badly compared to my past self.
Although it wasn’t muddy it had recently been muddy and there were deer and bobcat and possibly coyote tracks everywhere. I’m not sure I can tell a coyote track from a dog though. But I know they are out there because we heard them. We saw tons of owl pellets too.

@rheddmobile You did great in January! Congratulations on your PR, especially when you were on the struggle bus. Funny about tall guy loping out a 6 min mile. Just doesn't seem fair.
