So, I decided to change my running goals from "how quickly can I run 1.5 miles?" to "how long can I jog at a pace slightly faster than 6 mph without taking any breaks to walk?" Right now, the answer is 13 minutes. Even then, I only walked for 1 minute before jogging again. My original goal was to work up to 15 minutes, but being so close, I think I'm going to work up to 20.19

I have a substantial "pooch" in my lower belly from carrying two very large babies and having two C-sections. While rubbing some lotion on yesterday I realized that while the sagging skin is still there it seems to have less fat in it. Its floppy which is not what I'd like but I'll take it because its weight loss after all. I'm down 14lbs since February.25

It occurred to me this morning that one of my NSVs is that I'm not really ashamed of my weight anymore. Not because I'm no longer overweight, but because I've stopped feeling like my weight is some sort of ridiculous moral failing or something. My whole life I've felt ashamed any time I had to say how much I weighed. Now I feel like it's just a number. I credit this change to the MFP community and to my boyfriend. The MFP community because everyone has helped me see that dealing with your weight is a normal struggle. My boyfriend because he's been nothing but supportive - and didn't stop loving me suddenly once I told him my actual weight. We've been together for ~30 years, so logically he wasn't going to break up with me over a number, but it was still an illogical fear. Letting go of feeling ashamed is such a relief. It feels like a blessing, and I wish everyone who has ever felt any shame over their weight gets to feel like this too.39

Trying on size 36 jeans and having them fit. Down from 42!23

At my last physical, about 6 weeks ago, my blood pressure was borderline hypertensive. It turns out my home blood pressure cuff was totally wrong (so it wasn't as bad as I thought it was), but I've worked to cut out sodium and lose some weight. I've only lost 10 pounds so far, but my blood pressure today? 116/74 !!21

Went on vacation for a week and ate whatever I wanted (which included some vegetable heavy dishes I never would have tried before). Came home and got right back into my routine of healthy eating and activity!25

I think it is more like "A general effort!" of course, it doesn't really roll off the tongue. Generally do things the right way more than the wrong? Nope still not hitting it.
I was working on my skirts today, making the waistline smaller so they don't fall off and I am now a medium! Also, I felt like they were children's skirts that were too long lols. Whose clothes are these?? I am in the overweight category making me wonder what the heck kinda size am I going to be when I am -30 lbs??? extra small?? I don't understand this at all. I think it is all in the bdonkadonk. All 30 lbs of it!!10 -
Day one back on track not having any extras to what’s on my meal plan 😜17

Last night I realized I have surpassed my daily step goal for 16 days in a row.20

I’ve been banking NSVs.
*during the windstorms a couple weeks ago, I had to lean into the wind to make any progress. It was nearly lifting me off my feet. That hasn’t happened since I was a little kid and it was FUN.
* a new instructor is convinced I’m tall. She had me doing modifications for tall people in a mat class, and then yelled at me in aquafit for being in too shallow water, til she jumped in herself ti chastise me and realized my toes were barely touching.
* When we spread our arms out to a T position as instructed, she did an involuntary double take and blurted out, “Remind me not to let you take a punch at me”. (She’s a former drill sergeant. I guess this is a thing?!)
* I was browsing Apple Health data yesterday and realized I’ve gained nearly 1/10th inch in height since starting weight loss in 2018. For a woman my age, I’m supposed to be losing height.
*in the “Cocoon” gym (older clientele) this morning, I was totally inwardly focused on dumbbell form. I went to change weights and realized I had a little semicircle of elderly men around me, staring and/or trying to impress, especially some poor old grey headed possum trying to “deadlift” a 25 pound weight and side eying me to see if I was paying attention. I don’t get this at the competitive metal gym I also train at, so this was funny, sad, poignant, yet realllllly irritating. If the gym had been a boat, it would have tipped to one side, because the rest of it was empty.
And, being an old grey headed possumette myself I’ve forgotten the really good NSV that made me start this post in the first place.
Im sure I’ll be back.

My fitness watch tells me my VO2 max is now "excellent"
I don't think it's the ultimate fitness device or necessarily super-accurate, but my fitness has improved, and it was nice to have some kind of evidence of it.17 -

In Atomic Habits, author James Clear says every choice is a vote for who you are going to be going forward. So vote for the you that you want to win?11 -

You don’t have to be perfect to be moving in the right direction

Whilst brushing my teeth tonight, I noticed that my face is thinner. My double chin has shrunk a lot and my jawline is more defined. Weirdly, I didn’t notice it at all this morning, so it was a bit of a shock, but a very welcome one. I’ve been so miserable about my fat body, that I’d forgotten about my fat face. Without meaning to be dramatic, it felt like being reunited with the old, familiar me. I’d forgotten what she looked like.31

Time since my shoulder injury last year, today was the best session I’ve had with weights training and burning 525 calories. It was the chest day and I felt pumped and so great inside to do weights again and last for this long! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻16

I have gained back some weight since having a heart arrhythmia in November. Just getting my meds sorted out and trying to build back my miles, which hopefully will help me get back on track.
I got some new running clothes for Christmas and today was the first day with the right temperature to wear them, but I felt like the tights and form fitting shirt emphasized my belly and the pounds I have put on. I was feeling fat. Which made it nice that a passing runner complimented my outfit and asked where I got it! I guess I looked better than I felt like I did!20 -
I hadn't gone for a run, apparently, since August 2020. A friend has been encouraging me to get back at it, and we made a run date for yesterday after I got errands done.
I got errands done right about when we expected, which is just when it started to rain. Great. It would have been so easy to just put it off for another day (or week or month or...) Neither of us like to run on pavement, and there's a very large park sort of halfway between our homes. I walked towards the cemetery where we met, finished warming up, and got a start.
I remember saying, "The first mile always sucks." My pace was slow. In the second mile, I sped up, and the third mile actually felt good. So I was able to go ahead and run 5K straight. I've been commuting by bike, so I'm not totally inactive, but it really surprised me that I could get up and run 5K.
To be sure, my time was slower than my last run almost two years ago, but it was faster than some other 5K runs that I did, presumably when I was feeling less than 100%.
We went for a hike the day before, and my wrist device had an estimate for my VO2Max, and it was almost back in the "good" range and in the top 45% of people my age. According to my device, my "fitness age" is allegedly five years younger than my chronological age.
Bonus is I don't feel sore today!20 -
For the first time ever since I have known my spouse (41 years!) I weigh less than him. To be fair, he was a beanpole for a very long time and now he’s overweight, but still!26

I'm down one clothing size, and on the verge of going down another pant size. Able to wear my wedding ring again. Slow but steady.23

My massage therapist had politely told me in January that not all fat people can handle high pressure or even medium pressure massage. Today she told me my stomach is looking flatter feeling chuffed I told her i try to walk 10 kms 5-6 days a week19

Went to put on a matching yoga bra crop and shorts. Was really frustrated I couldn’t get the top over my head. Til I realized it was the shorts. They were the same size folded. 🤣27

I was carrying a couple of boxes at work when a colleague stepped in and took the boxes from my hands. He then said, "Let me do some lifting. I would love to be as ripped as you". Needless to say, he made my day.22

justanotherloser007 wrote: »I was doing laundry today, and as I pulled some shirts out of the dryer I was thinking "Whose shirt is this??" Yeah, it is mine. I have been wearing the new $3 tees in a size large for a couple of weeks, but the dryer went out last week, and the hubby fixed it on Sat night. So now I keep looking at the shirts on the hangers like, "no, that is way to small to be mine."
I did that too. I went from pants size 24 to size 12. I thought the jeans in the laundry were my teenaged daughter's. They definitely looked too small. I was ecstatic. Congratulations. It's a wonderful feeling isn't it!15 -
So happy to be able to wear the scrub tops that didn't fit me 5 weeks ago. Getting my mojo back and eating healthy again. My clothes are beginning to fit me once more.25

Last week, I ordered new yoga capri pants for Spring, and they arrived today. ALL the ones I bought last year were in dark colors, but all my new ones are in bright colors and loud patterns. I didn't even realize that until I went to put them in the drawer, but apparently my confidence level is a lot higher now than it was last year. I don't mind being seen now, and I'm not self-conscious at the gym like I was. Feels good.29
