My doctor wants me to exercise for an hour each day and keep my heart rate at a minimum of 120 to aide in keeping my cholesterol down (which it has!), but as I get more fit, I have to work harder to get my heart rate up and I'm having a hard time gauging how much to exercise and how to balance it so I don't overtrain myself. Do you have any suggestions? What kinds of exercise are acceptable for a rest day but still include movement? Any information you can share on overtraining and how to avoid would be appreciated. Thank you!23

I am training for an endurance ride (bicycling) but also trying to lose weight (at least 50kg). On days when I have a normal workout (either an hour of weights or some HIIT on the bike followed by weights, I keep my calories low (maybe 1800 calories) but for long ride days, I hit extra calories (maybe 2300) the day before and eat regularly on the bike. But I'm not losing weight. How do I figure out calories to keep me moving but also maintain a deficit so I can lose weight?8

I'm over 50, post menopause, and exercising and eating low carb. How come I'm not losing weight? All my doctor wants to say is it's because I don't eat right when I do keep track of my food and I do know it's not always about that. What other things could be causing this? Feeling frustrated...........22
