I had to Google Hominy too, I had heard the word but have never had it (well, maybe I have in Mexico or somewhere, but didn't know that I was eating it). Nothing ghastly there lol, field corn treated with lye, nixtamalization. Easier to absorb the nutrients from it than regular white corn.
I am getting such an education!
When I first moved out of a big city to a small town, the library was only open 4 hours twice per week. How did we look anything up back then? Encyclopedias?

I love using Google too! I remember during my childhood reading the encyclopedias on the shelf at my home ... it was the only way to find out anything.

Steak night with DH & our son while his wife and our grand baby are out of town. Nice day and evening!

DH gave up alcohol for Lent and asked I support him. 6 weeks! He is skeptical that he can do it but I'm all in with him ... and said I would make the same commitment.

Quiet weekend. A little yard work, a little basketball on TV. Candidly, I wanted more to eat every day but I resisted and stayed on plan. Drinks were on plan too.
In the mocktail category, I enjoyed a spritz with lyre’s vermouth and soda on Friday. I’ve also been having lemon drinks a lot. There’s a crazy lemon almond cake recipe that’s my favorite at the moment. It calls for whole lemons simmered for an hour then puréed. It creates an intense lemonyness that looks like curd. But it’s just lemon. I’ve been making the cake a long time but only recently started mixing a dollop of lemon purée with crushed ice water and sweetener for lemonade. I’m thinking about lemon mousse for Easter. Lemon jag

Not AF on Oscar night...3 bourbon with splash of OJ. The pollen was fiercely getting to me, and my allergies are on fire. That sent my nerves for drink relief but I could've tried claritin or something.
Today I recalibrate. Only 4 days left to the month....aiming for no drinks and 1 lb. less. My next weigh-in is April 1. There's no better reward for not drinking than losing the fat. And being able to run faster. Oh and being able to buy new clothes and look good in them.

I am Dawn. My ongoing goal is 16-20 AF days per month. I was a daily drinker when I began on this thread in November of 2018.
Diary style is how I keep track.
Tuesday March 22nd - AF - I am working a split tomorrow at the restaurant, with Foster Grant jobs before that and during my afternoon break. Planning on having a couple of drinks tomorrow night in a nice bubble bath.
Wednesday March 23rd - 2 drinks. Long work day, it was really nice to get home and into my jammies.
Thursday March 24 - AF - Super great weather today, went for a nice walk after work. Took a gazillion photos as usual. I will post some. Planned drinks over the weekend. Happy to hit my 16, as usual.
Friday March 25 - Drinks, had a bunch, but kept them to 1/2 ounce each. Not sure if I will have drinks on Saturday or not.
Saturday March 26 - AF - Walked a hydrocut, watched hockey at night. Could have had drinks, but am still trying to take some weight off, so didn't.
Sunday March 27 - AF - Did the hour walk around Jimsmith Lake. Planned drinks before and after the Celtic Tenors Tuesday night, planned AF for Monday.
Rolling total: 18 AF days out of 27 days4 -
March can march on out of here, and take the pollen with it!😄. Looking to do better next month (& without family visits, rodeo, anniversary, etc. it should be!)!

Well a bit behind but playing catch up on posts
Not a great 3 days but I did not over do. Plus for me. Friday 2 beers, Saturday 2 Whiskey (late day), Sunday 2 beer with friends. I will be AF the rest of the Month. So I will round out with 22 AF days for the month. Acceptable for me.
@MissMay I am so glad you had a blast with your lady friends. Without a crumpled paper, elephant or another lemon. LOL
This week I have some projects to complete. Including ugggg, bra shopping. I hate bra shopping. As you get older things change and don't always look or act the same hehe. Ok TMI I know.
I am off to workout. 45 min of pure dumbbell strength training, full body.4 -

I am feeding the PMS beast with carbs and alcohol. The nutrition counselor at work let me know a woman’s body has higher caloric needs right before her period, but this is crazy! At least two drinks Fri-Sun, and one last night after work.
This weather is crazy. Yesterday a snow squall resulted In a 40 car pileup and three deaths on one of the highways in northern PA. Yet by Thursday it will be 74 degrees!!! Meanwhile the spring flowers keep right on blooming. Hearty souls, they!

AF on Monday, just 3 days left to the month. Today it's half hr weights, half hour "relaxing" stationary bike watching youtube. Yesterday I got in 4 mile run but speed was 12:21 with hills, still way too slow. The only way I can speed up is to lose the extra poundage and the solution to that (for me) is not drinking, so my liver can focus on burning fat instead of processing poisons.
I needed to write this so I can re-read it later and stick to the plan.6 -

Thank you for asking about my MIL. Right now I really don't know. DH (he wont ask family questions) has tried called the facility she is staying at to get either no answer or someone hung up. His dad is absolutely no help (he is 94) and his sister is doing all the arrangements and has no phone. Only an internet connection. So short answer, I don't know. Long answer/long term????? He has a BIL who also does not have a phone just email. A Brother who lives there but he does not keep up with details like this (I know I know) and a Niece who lives in the area but basically ignores them.
So frustration level is high and I have had to emotionally step back and move forward without learning/knowing.
Other than that things are going great. Got out in the yard and started the spring clean up. Yard waste can is overflowing and I hope this week is pick up. I still have 1/2 my yard to mow and more pine needles to rake up.

Very late to join for March but really an advance post for April….
Both husband and I enjoy “the odd” beer or glass of wine but we have both noticed that volume and frequency have both crept up.
His main trigger is boredom (he’s WFH and in the house alone all day while I’m out working), my main trigger is him suggesting we go to the pub…
Anyway: targets.
At least 2 AF days / week
Stay under 20 UK units / week (eventually that target will get stricter and closer to the Govt recommendation of 14)
Last week: 4 AF days, 18 units.6 -

They had wine and beer at the theatre which you could bring to your seat, but I don't really drink either. Afterwards, well, it was sooo late and I was tired and hungry, so no drinks. Planned drinks Wednesday night after my split shift interspersed with jobs for my other company. Yay to hitting my 20AF days : - )
