Tracey - I am terrified of cars. Especially motorways. I will sit in the back when my son takes me and watch a film on my phone to distract myself. 😜
I have stopped travelling any distance at all with DH. Just very local and I can hardly bear it.
I am a train kinda gal.

Michele--Wish I could excited like you about exercise. I just have so much trouble keeping at it everyday or every couple days. Hope all goes well with Jess's graduation. Just a thought, but maybe Denise doesn't want to come as she feels some mixed feelings about Jess following her dream.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE
I also love being active.
I incorporate it into my day by walking for transportation as much as possible.
@exermom ... could be that Denise doesn't want anything to do with the family. That happens.
Children decide to live a life that is quite different from what they grew up with and more or less cut the ties with the family.
I know I do things differently from my family and much of the time it's probably a good thing I'm on the other side of the world.
My parents have attended 2 of my 9 graduations in person and 2 virtually, my brother has been to 1 in person and 1 virtually, I think.
Virtual graduations are an option ... watch it live from the comfort of your own home without the hassle of travel. Especially good since most grads allow a limited number of guests.Anniesquats100 wrote: »Dang it! I bought Stevia in the Raw and looked it up when I got home. It has dextrose in it which is as bad as sugar. There might be less of it but I can't find how to compare doses. But they use dextrose medically to fix low blood sugar because it gives such a spike. I guess there's no way around giving up sugar.

A few years ago DH and I were having a discussion about tattoos. I don’t believe in name tattoos unless it’s a child-parent thing, I said that I couldn’t think of anything important enough to me to have permanently placed on my body. DH being a smara$$ suggested I put a box of KD.

I'm not a fan of tattoos ... but if I were going to go for one, it would likely be a bicycle or somehow cycling-related.
I haven't had KD for a long, long time! I liked it with soya sauce.

Never in my life have I been woken up by a bird. But a cardinal must have been right outside on the retaining wall and was singing away..I say it was my dad.. my mom came back as a great blue heron.. and my dad a cardinal..so he must have wanted to wake me up.
Well up and atem.. Have to get dressed and feed Alfie and then go take care of pork chop lol.2 -
I didn't even go to any of my three uni graduations. And I didn't go to either of my sons'. They don't hold it against me!
Going to start thinking about the layout of my new book. This phase always makes me very nervous. Baby steps.

I go to all of mine ... it's a bit of a celebration for an accomplishment for me. But most limit the number of guests to one or two, so it's not like the whole family can be invited anyway.

Good morning ladies,
The interesting guy from okcupid wrote back! Yay!
As far as graduations, my parents went to one of my four. My sister and brothers never. They came to my wedding, but never came to visit me. Just not a close family, I guess.
I made myself a rule that I can eat back half my exercise calories, but no cookies. I just don't need them in my diet. And one leads to four and so on.
So today's challenge is baking and frosting a cake for my aunt's birthday without tasting the batter or frosting.

Thanks for the welcome. I live in Maine with my husband of 28 years. I am 57. I had previously lost 120lbs and have gained back half of it during covid. Ugh - no more excuses. Ready to put myself first again. We enjoy biking and hiking, but it's not as fun with the extra weight. I had great success using MFP in the past. Planning and tracking my meals here keeps me focused.
I look forward to getting to know all of you.
Todays Goal: I will go to the gym and keep my cals under 1800

Tracey... I have an occasional craving that can only be satisfied with the orangey-yellow, tiny macaroni Kraft Mac&Cheese (your KD). It drives Corey crazy. My husband makes some of the best, yummiest real macaroni and cheese, with elbow macaroni, lots of cheese melted into a white sauce, crunchy stuff on top and baked in the oven. He wouldn't touch KD with a ten-foot pole and doesn't know why I like it. Before I went in the Air Force, I was on my own for a couple years (traveled with the carnival for part of it - long story). I was continually busted broke, so Kraft Mac & Cheese was a treat--but I mixed it with condensed cream soup, usually cream of mushroom, because I couldn't afford butter and milk, and often didn't have a refrigerator anyway, just a hot plate and a pan.
Terri... I'm so sorry for your loss. I do love your "done" list. I find mine has given me a sense that I'm doing more than I was giving myself credit for. I tend to discount the daily things, but when I write down what I've done, it's a really long list! I would never write "make the bed," or "make Corey's lunch" on a to-do list, but I do write them on the "done" list, and it boosts my sense of performing a valid and valuable service instead of just doing one more chore.
Another gray and gloomy day, and more rain, if the weather-critters are right. That's OK, got my projects sorted out, just have to finish building a small ironing board to use. When I make quilt squares, I spend more time ironing than sewing. Regular ironing boards are too tippy and awkward, so I'm building a tabletop one that I can stash when it's not in use. I could go buy one, I guess, but what fun would that be?
Later, y'all,
Love,

Hi everyone, I just found this group! I'm 60 with about 55# to lose. Been trying for 10 years and can't seem to get there. I love MFP, I started it 10 years ago and have been off and on with it. Had a knee replacement last May and it's time to get moving again. May is my start month, no specific diet this time, just tracking calories and exercise because I think in the end it will be the most sustainable for me. The sun is shining today here in Michigan, it's been hiding a long time and it sure gets me in a good mood to get up and accomplish some things. The focus is on me now! Something I never seem to do.7

This SURE IS a fast moving group! Lots of interesting bits of news from so many people in just the past couple of days! ... I love it
Thanks for the welcome from those who spotted me ... and welcome to those who have come on new.
Had a doctor follow up yesterday with the facility I am new at since my move here. Turns out I did something to one of my shoulders rotator cuff and will be heading to physical therapy today. Otherwise the doctor was very pleased with all the test results that were done on me as a new patient on my last visit. Settling in.
Have a great rest of the week everyone.

3: Take a step towards an important goal, no matter how small.
4: Send your friend a photo from a time you enjoyed together. Message B with memory.
Note to self: Do not delete the “Work” calendar from your phone while sitting on the pot at 3 am, even though you’ve been retired for 6 years. Iphone defaulted “new” entries to the “work” calendar and I failed to notice it.
Terri (housework goals). Lisa and Machka (helpful strategies) and  sisters from another mother!
Katla think of you often, every time a humming bird visits the feeder outside my window.
Kim stairs outside, hmm, like Katla my knee dislikes ‘em, will ast PT today.
Heather your posh lunch looks like so much fun, but do they serve anything that isn’t seafood?
Only to the bottom of pg 4 but time to shower and prep for 1st PT appointment.
Lighter, lovelies!

I get up early and walk my dogs before most people are even awake. By 7:30 AM I have walked close to 8000 steps which includes time with a friend and time to listen to a podcast. Having walked in the morning, I am more relaxed about the ups and downs of the rest of my day because I know I've done something good for my body. I eat exactly the same breakfast every morning (with little exception, the same thing every day since early 2009). I know it's healthy and I'm saved the need to make a decision.
Yesterday was fractured by accompanying hubby to the doctor which took far longer than we expected. Fortunately the news was good. Later I taught a neighbor how to get on a Zoom meeting and taught myself how to share both an audio and a pdf file at the same time on a Zoom meeting.
One of my favourite foods to nurture me during a sinking spell is Lean Cuisine macaroni and cheese. Single serving, not a bad calorie/sodium punch and very easy to fix.

May the Fourth be with you!💫🌟✨⭐️ Lol. Well tech support gave me an alternative route to this community so testing if I can post a picture of the fire view from my campsite. The fire was about a month ago.
Yay! Finally worked! I will post the solution if anyone wants or needs it.
A cool tent I saw in the park this weekend:

have written out some instructions on how to save a Safari bookmark to your iPhone home page, so it looks and acts like its own app. Following the steps below will allow you to quickly jump into the forums without launching the MFP app first. You will most likely be asked to log in the initial time you set this up, but afterward, you should stay logged in.
Please go to the following URL from within your Safari app on your iPhone https://community.myfitnesspal.com/
Tap the Share icon located at the bottom of the page
Scroll, find, and tap "Add to Home Screen from the Share menu
Tap Add to create an icon that will be added to your Home Screen so you can quickly access the MFP community.
Alternate method to access this community. What I tested that didn’t work for me before, works this way.

So last night I slept awful. Husband said I snored. I remember being awake at 2am, and thinking I heard the dishwasher still running, (was probably my snoring). So when I was up, I checked by listening by the stairs, nope not on. Then was just up until about 4. Thinking, pondering, planning. In the morning I said no to gym. I was still sleeping when Lee got back, just crashed!
I know if I lost some weight, I probably wouldn't snore so much. I know if I exercised daily I would be tired enough to sleep. Its all interconnected.
I need to make an appointment with my doctor tomorrow because I'm due for a yearly checkup and blood work. I might ask her about all that. Now I have read up regarding sleep patterns as we age, and I have noticed that I do more light sleeping than the deeper sleep with REM. I have had light muscle relaxer meds prescribed, and I don't really like how they make me feel in the morning. Lee also says I am more apt to not listen to his nudges to turn over or change positions, (because I'm snoring). I have looked into surgeries to aid in stopping snoring, and they're pretty intensive, with a lot of healing and pain. Plus it might not even help. And it might change your voice, and you feel like you have something "stuck" in there with the scarring. No thanks. I would rather just annoy husband every so often, then feel like I need to "ahem" all the time.
This next week is eating leftovers and stuff out of the freezer week for me. Hoping our commissary shopping bill will be under $100. Mailing stuff and buying stamps "ate" into our food budget!
May the Fourth be with you all!
Rebecca
