Melissa - it's good to keep busy during this time - I know now that even testing doesn't help....LOL I just always thought that the tests were lying.....What are you doing to keep the PCOS at bay?
[/quote]
Thanks.... I have been knitting and cooking like crazy. Having my inlaws here is bitter sweet. Bitter because I can't really talk to my DH, but sweet because I am kept VERY busy!!.
As far as keeping PCOS at bay....it's a crazy balancing act that I feel like I struggle with each day. I have stopped drinking soda, limited my sugar and sodium and increased my whole wheat and veggie intake. I have also made sure I work out, find something to stress relief (my knitting), and get good sleep. ALSO...I have been going to the chiropractor. The mix of all of that seems to be the right balance. I have lost about 30 pounds by eating right and working out....and I have never felt better in my life. I have no idea if I am ovulating - but I have had 4 natural periods (3 of which have been roughly 34 days apart). :-) I really don't want to be on any meds, so I strive to do what ever I can naturally.
One of my dear friends has PCOS and she swears by the "womans kits" from bionutrients.com. I used the kit for a short time but had some side affects so I stopped. It worked so well for my friend that I would recommend it to many!!0 -

Sounds like you are doing all the right things to keep it at bay. I found after about 6 months of my new lifestyle the symptoms went MUCH reduced (and I dropped around 40 lbs). I did also take the Metformin though, which really helped also. It is definitely a crazy balancing act though. For lent this year, I cut sugar and I found that I needed less junk food, coffee and all that other stuff.....0 -
CD1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally! It took 42 days since my miscarriage bleeding stopped but it's finally here! I am so flippin' happy right now! And relieved!
yay!0 -
Yay jalara for cd1!
Afm: yesterday the hubs, son and I went to the uofa football game last night and it was tons of fun. We went to the tailgate for military beforehand and our son had a blast at his first football game. On the way back from the game on the LONG walk back to the car I felt some cramping. I didn't think too much about it but when we got back I went to the bathroom and found some very light spotting. It wasn't there this morning so I have a really good feeling that it was implantation! We've been using opk's but haven't gotten a positive and I'm cd18 so I wonder if they are even working. I always get the test line and another very faint line. We've been makin babies every other day so I really hate this wait! It seems like this month has gone pretty quickly but the 28th seems forever away!0 -
Woohoo jalara!
Julia - fingers crossed for you!!! Baby Dust!!
I read about Raspberry Leaf Tea recently and I'm thinking about giving it a try... it's supposed to help regulate periods and also help with cramps and other symptoms as well as being great for pregnant women, just uterine health in general. Read some of the reviews... One lady had irregular periods from PCOS and started drinking the tea and got per period and even had a normal cycle! And one woman basically says the tea gave her the perfect pregnancy/birth. I'm going to ask my acupuncturist about it and see what she says. Edit: Not to be used in early pregnancy, very bad, can induce labor...
http://www.amazon.com/Yogi-Womans-Raspberry-Supplement-16-Count/dp/B0009F3SFK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_npd?ie=UTF8&coliid=I2ACWSPH7XPYQ5&colid=19152ANI79BBK
AFM: I finally broke through my 155 mark. Only by .2 but I swear I could have done a happy dance on the scale because I've either been at or above 155 forEVER! Is it a coincidence that I finally broke through it after acupuncture? I dunno, guess I'm going to have to keep going!!
I had a pregnant dream last night, can't remember the last time I had one if ever. It felt soooo real. I was only 2 weeks but showing a little (LOL it was probably just my fat belly) and I was trying not to tell people yet because it was so early but Husband couldn't stop bragging... But I just remember the feeling of love and peacefulness from rubbing my belly. OMFG if I didn't have baby fever before I have it now. I can literally feel my uterus yearning. Haha, that's what I get for reading Making Babies before bed. Loving this book.
Anyhow, have a great day ladies!0 -
Melissa and Eatnbetter and others- Welcome!
Pam- Excited for you!
Jalara- whoohoo! It was a long wait for you!
AFM- BFN. I didn't end up having to pee. I started to more than spot on Wednesday and my temps plummeted on thursday to 96.6 the lowest I've ever gotten. Disappointed but it was my "first month" so we are gearing up for this month. Question, what do I consider my CD1 this month- when I started to spot, wednesday when I started to show clots, thursday when my temps dropped, or Friday when I took the last progestrone for this cycle? Not sure how to count it this month...I will definately be using Ovulation sticks to help me this month to figure it out...my husband is a little worried just cause I ussually can give him a heads up and this month I have no idea. Love to all, have a great weekend!0 -
Oh found out some good stuff about Raspberry Tea here:

yay!
Awesome hun!!!!! I know that flood of relief when you're starting to get worried is just soooo good. Hopefully things will settle down for you, well I don't know if this will help much with the classes0 -
Thanks ladies!
Kitty - try not to change too many TTC things all at once - it's good to let your body adjust to things first. Also, be careful with natural remedies - for example, Raspberry Leaf Tea can interfere with some antibiotics (blame the Pharmacology class I'm taking right now). I've read Making Babies and I didn't find it to be anything great, but it's likely because I've been at this for awhile. It's great to have renewed enthusiasm on this board though!
Pam - seems like things are moving along for you! I know it's not going as quickly as you wanted it to, but any progress in treatment is still progress.
Luki - sorry about the BFN.
AFM - I decided last night to make turkey dinner tonight - and it was great! Gluten free stuffing is kind of iffy but otherwise it was good With the sudden cool temperatures it felt like a weekend for comfort food0 -
Honey-Glad to hear you're back on the wagon and have stopped bleeding! That all is no fun at all, but getting back on the wagon is a ton of fun!
Jalara-Glad to here your back at CD1 good luck this month!
Hmmm....there were other people I wanted to comment on but can't remember who said what! I'm going home (to CA) for a few days on Wed and i'm really looking forward to it! I told my bro no "fighting" while I'm out there just in case. That was the first person in my family I really told that I was TTC. Actually I told his wife to pass it on because he wasn't home but my sister in law was SO excited! I'm going to take a test first thing Wed morning. It's still a few days before my possible period but I'm impatient. I feel dumb taking a test and then being like "Well a negative doesn't really mean negative because I haven't missed my period yet so who knows" but at the same time my friend got results a week early and it would be real cool to be able to tell my family while we are home! I've been somewhat nauseous, and REALLY tired and on friday I had some very light bleeding (implantation perhaps?) If i'm not pregnant I must be getting sick, but I don't feel sick at all so we shall see!
good luck and love to you all!0 -
Morning ladies!
Emily - I know what you mean, I can't help but test starting at 8DPO or something like that. I always think that it might show up so it's worth it. Although when I got my BFP in August it was neg one DPO 10 and + on DPO 11 so I may have learned. Either way, I'm a pee-pusher!
Karen, how are you liking WW?
I was running late so I didn't have a chance to weigh in this morning. I will tomorrow though. My goal this week is to go on 3 walks and to increase my water intake. No lofty goals for me right now, but that's okay. I also want to see a 1lb loss next week.
Well, back to studying!0 -
Emily- Fingers crossed for you!
AFM- I have been MIA....soooooo sorry! My friend introduced me to TheBump and I have been lurking around there. OPKs are bought...and I have 1 PT for next month. I am waiting for my next AF to start testing though, unless something seems "weird". I just got on FF and am going to hopefully learn my way around the charting craziness. I'm grateful for my support group online and off! You all are amazing!0 -

I'm on the TTC board! She was on our board, too! And she's still posting despite the nasty comments. I can't figure out how to block her! Idiot...0 -
Ok...so last week I did lurk some, but I did not check in officially, and I also did not exercise at all last week, and did terrible with water drinking. We found out with pretty short notice that we were going to have out of town guests staying with us over the weekend, so I was scrambling around to get things ready. I don't want to go into much detail, but the couple who stayed with us is in the adoption process, and they've been matched with a birth mother who lives pretty near us. They came down for an initial meeting with her, and it went very well. It will be very interesting to see how things play out over the next several weeks. The baby is due early December, but will probably be born via c-section just before Thanksgiving. Of course, nothing is final, and things could certainly change at any point between now and when it is finalized in court.
I don't even know if it is possible for me to go back and get caught up on everything that I've missed, so I'll just try to jump back in.
AFM: I am down 1.6lb from last week, and I was also down 1lb last week from the week before. For the first time today (after 52lbs lost), a coworker actually commented on my weight loss. Definitely felt nice.
Goals for this week:
Get back on track with exercising: goal is to do 3 workouts (at least 20min each)
Stay on track with eating/tracking
WATER, WATER, WATER (I have my water bottle with me today): goal is 64oz or more/day
Hope all is well! Have a great week, ladies!

It's weird that there are so many different directions for prenatals. Obviously there are going to be some difference from brand to brand, but I would assume they're all pretty similar. Wonder what the difference really is? Mine just say take with food. So I keep them in my purse so I know I'll always have them with me and then take when whenever I think about it.
Most all multivitamins (including prenatals with and without iron) will say to take it with food if stomach upset occurs. But iron-containing products will probably recommend taking on an empty stomch if possible, to promote better absorption of the iron. Cereal, high-fiber foods, coffee, tea and milk can all decrease the absorption of iron. Also, do not take iron-containing vitamins with antacids, as they will also decrease the absorption of iron.0 -

Hi Jalara - no worries, I'm not TTC yet, just preparing to. So true about natural remedies and "Western" ones. Luckily at this time I don't take any prescriptions but it's good to be careful, I'm going to check with my acupuncturist (she's basically my doctor, I only go to an MD when she makes me, lol) before I start anything. I always go to her with a plan and she's like "No, do this instead". Hehe.0 -
Happy Monday Ladies!!
Smores18- thank you so much for your support regarding miscarriage, sorry to hear you've experienced 2(same here). Fingers crossed for you this week, and have a great vacation!!
Julieotwellsmith- hoping maybe you did get some funky test sticks and that you get some good news this month! My first month I tested around cd14 and never got a positive-then second month same, but started temping and realized I o'd cd23, yikes
Panteragirl- sorry to hear you also experienced miscarriage. My cycle has been funky this first month after---hope you find some answers, and that they're good ones!
Emilyranae22- I definitely read the same somewhat mixed info regarding being more fertile following miscarriage. I'm totally with you and believing it's true! Have a great time in CA!! We just moved from there to TX and I miss it like crazy...also sending positive vibes your way that you have some good news while there!
AlisaToth- Good luck tomorrow with testing! Fingers crossed!
NewLeafBeth- Thank you for the support, and yay for doctors! lol I have a few appts myself these next few weeks, Blehhh
FitterPam- Sounds like everything is really progressing for you, happy for ya and wishing you luck! And Wowzers, husband takes temps? Amazing!!!
KittyFeliz- Thanks for the info, think I'm gonna be brave and try this needle stuff! Oh and regarding raspberry leaf tea--have you heard of Fertilitea? It contains a lot different fertility herbs.
Jalara- Congrats on the CD1!! And definitely good warning on the herbal remedies--I've only just begun this TTC journey, but the changes I made this month I def checked in with doc about. She's amazing and understands my curiosity--but she likes to keep it all documented so I don't overdue anything. Sadly though insurance switched and I have to go to a new dr
Lukimakamai- You took the words out of my mouth! Very confused about cycle days following miscarriage since it was a full week after expected period for me. My temps are also all over the place! Sorry for the bfn and good luck this month!
Whew! I really wanted to able to comment back to some of you guys this week--just hope I got the names right! :0) So just a quick AFM: Tried early-pregnancy-tests.com for the first time and it arrived in 2 days free shipping! Impressive, and these tiny opk's are cute! Taking fertilitea, FertileCM and baby aspirin this month under doc's supervision. My temps are up, down and all around the town so we'll see what happens. Was prescribed phentermine for weight loss in April, just for 8wks, but wondering if that has anything to do with weird cycles since (though also never noticed until now that I ovulate soo late ...Goal is definitely exercise this week! Had miscarriage day after session with trainer, so got a silly notion to be mad at exercise lol So no weight loss this week.Fell off the wagon eating wise but kept logging so that has been an easy fix--but exercise, UGH...tough to lose momentum. Sorry for absurdly long post and hope everyone has a great week!!!0 -
Karen, how are you liking WW?
Down three pounds in a week at my weigh-in this morning! Wahoo! Not expecting that much next week, but it felt like a good jump start, and I just feel more in control having a "structure" to work within. And, I'm a saver, so I like having points to "save" for times when I just know I can't do it with my daily points. Stinks to pay for it, but there are worse things, I guess. We'll see after a few more weeks on this thing how I'm settling into it. Nice thing is, my SIL has lost 50 lbs on it, so she's on board, and a good friend from church and I both started it the same day (not planned). We usually go out to eat after church on Sun. So, I have "support" at family gatherings, and support for Sunday lunch, which are two of my big problem eating issues.
In other news, my cycle is just messed up, I think. Last thursday was day 28, and I got a little bleeding, but not the full AF. (I thought it was coming). I'm still spotting today, but it still hasn't shown. I took a pregnancy test just to make sure, but BFN. Blergh.) So, I dunno if I missed the boat this month or not. I guess we'll see in a few days. In the meantime, I'm just going to focus on the WW and controlling what I can control--dang it!0 -

YAY, be brave!! Why yes I have heard of FertiliTEA, it's actually on my list of stuff to try. How are you liking it? Oh and FertileCM I want to try too when the time comes... I think if anything that would be where any *issues* would lie for me.
Good job getting back on the eating good/exercise wagon!!!0 -
Hey everyone! There's so much to catch up on, I don't think I'll be able to catch up! So I'll drop in with a happy Monday....that's pretty much an oxymoron if you ask me!
So kinda a funny story I wanted to share...last week after my OBGYN appointment we made an appointment for a pelvic ultrasound to check for fibroids and she thought my uterus felt a little enlarged considering I haven't had any kids before. And the instructions were to come on a full bladder. The nurse said drink 32 oz. an hour before....yeah right! I got to 18 and I could tell it was full. So on the way to the appointment I had to go to the bathroom to the point it started getting uncomfortable. And while I was waiting it got really bad. REALLY. BAD. It was hurting so bad and there's a bathroom right by the waiting room so I just kept watching people go in and out and hearing toilets flush and it was all I could think about. -Kinda like when they turn the water off at work and then SUDDENLY you're so thirsty you think you might die. I stood up to ask the receptionist how much longer it was going to be because I literally couldn't hold it anymore (emberassing!). I could barely walk over there! Then I couldn't sit back down because I knew if I did, there would be no getting up. Long story short the lady was so sweet and kept calling back there for me and finally the technician came and was like walking super fast because they told her I was about to pee myself! The UN-funny part is that there were no accidents, but man, it was a close one.
Good news is that she didn't see anything right then that was a problem, so I'll call the doc on Wednesday if I haven't heard by then. And I have an appointment tomorrow with the IF specialist, so we'll see how that goes.
Good luck to everyone this week with BDing and goals!!!0 -

So, just a quick update.....I got my lab results back today! My progesterone level was at 28! Which confirms ovulation! I was at the DMV when i found this out,....so I ran a few more errands and ran by walgreens to buy a test. I went ahead and splurged on a digital one so that there was no confusion...and BFP!!!!!!
I just went to the Dr. office to have them confirm it and get all to have and did a test for them to confirm and get all my initial bloodwork set up.
I was going to wait until tomorrow to tell my husband bc it's out 18month anniversary but i'm a TERRIBLE secret keeper so i drove up to his work and told him :-)
I love all of you ladies and wish nothing but the best for you all! Hopefully you will ALL be off of this board sooooon!! But don't worry....I'll be creeping!! <3<3<3 ***BABYDUST****0 -

Congrats!! So happy for you! I hope that we will all be joining you soon on the pregnancy boards
AFM- I've been absent lately, but I feel really good today so I decided to check in lol. My goals for this week are:
Drink 75oz of PLAIN water every day, I don't think I'm going to be counting Crystal Light as water anymore
Some sort of exercise everyday for at least 30 minutes
Do the daily challenges everyday
Start working on LOs halloween costume (I'm making a parrot costume for her, and I'm going to be a pirate)
Start OPKs on Thursday.... I think. I have an alarm set for the exact day on my phone lol
Hope everyone has a great week!0
