I'm Christie, an Aussie, mum to the BEST three year old in the world (I am not even biased). I work as an accountant at a gold mine, which basically means I'm chained to a desk for 9 hours a day! Not great for the waistline, so I try to get up and move my body throughout the day and I'm trying to source a stand-up desk (if my boss will fund it...).
August Goal Review
Still one day left in the month, but that's ok, I know where I stand on these goals anyway.
👟 Walk 5000+ steps - 18/30
💦 Drink 2L+ plain water - 29/30
📔 Log all calories - 12/30

I have taken a little time over the last few days to really evaluate my goals and what is working for me. Clearly, I failed my goal in August of tracking all the calories. I did ok with the rest of my goals, tracking is just hard for me to sustain. And part of that is because really, I don't want to have to track forever. I want to be able to listen to my body and eat more intuitively. I find tracking stressful, once I've overeaten a little I just keep going, whether I'm going to track it or not, because I've already blown the budget. Over the last few days I've experimented with the concept of ADDING rather than restricting. I've been restricting (whether physically or mentally) for so long, that I've forgotten what my body's signals actually are. And clearly that approach has not been working, or I wouldn't be where I am now. So for September, my aim is to continue working on that - allowing myself freedom to eat whatever I want and however much I want, but actually tune in to what my body is telling me that it wants. Serve myself a smaller portion to start, knowing that I can come back for seconds if I want to. Eating a proper breakfast to set myself up for the day, not just a coffee and then wonder why I'm ravenous by lunch and eat everything in sight.
I still want to focus on moving more throughout the day, so I'll have a step goal too. I think I have myself back in the habit of not ignoring the social media limit I set in my phone, and water is not appearing to be an issue either, so I can probably drop these goals (less things to keep track of) - of course if I notice myself slipping in these areas then I can always add them back in!

hi my name is megan and i am a kiwi, living in christchurch. got injured in the quakes and relationship drama and life and i have got to the point where I can hardly walk without difficulty. i am just under 140kg and want to get back to 70 odd. My youngest left 2 weeks ago to live and work in japan and i feel a bit old and past it. I was the same age when i went and wish it was me again. But no tardis. I am actually a quallified Personal Trainer, can sort other people but not me over the years. This month I am taking control, i have my bike set up and a gym machine coming to put in sons room...my new gym.

About Me
My name is Ian and I am a 62 year old male from the Midlands of the UK. I am 6' 0" tall. I have a number of health conditions which prevent me from doing aerobic exercise and I take medication which as a side effect lowers my metabolic rate and increases my feelings of hunger. I can't walk so use a mobility scooter. As a result my weight loss depends totally on calorie intake reduction.
My Goals
My initial target is 100kg by the end of October, to move from obese to simply overweight. I would like to get my waist size below 40" too. My calorie intake target to achieve that is 1,200 - 1,300 calories/day.
For September my goal is 101.8kg, a loss of 1.8kg (0.45kg or 1 lb/week), and a waist size of 42.5"
Today's update:
31/8:103.6kg. Calories 1206. Body Fat 33.7%
1/9: 103.6kg. Calories 1310. Body Fat 34.2% Waist size 43.5”2 -

09/01-198.8-(Trend Weight 199.8)- A nice little drop without the water pill. I think it was from calorie burn. Had a problem with the garage freezer yesterday evening and I lost hundreds of dollars worth of food. I think it was related to when they were working on the electricity and I was unaware of the issue. Defrosted and re-organized now and I think all is well but keeping an open eye. Lots of mopping during defrosting. I burned a ton of calories and I did manage to save a lot of the food. Now, Dear God, just one question……can my trials stop already? I’m planning a good healthy eating day and waiting for my new exercise bike to arrive. I’ll be ready when I get the okay. Good luck my friends in this end of summer round. Let’s enjoy the weather and make everyday possible count!

I do low Carb 15+/- 3 Net Carbs/day(My body seems to hang on to Carbs/not burn them),1000-1200 calories daily, 2 meals on my days off(3) and 3 meals on my work days (4, long hours) and I only exercise on my days off due to the long work days.

Area for improvement tomorrow: Overall not a very active day. When I was leaving work at 4pm I hadn't even managed 1200 steps all day! That's how you know it's month end at work - I'm stuck at my desk and don't get much movement. Will work harder on that tomorrow.
Today's Little Victory: Served a smaller portion for dinner, felt satisfied so didn't go back for anything else to eat which was a great thing for me.4 -

A good day yesterday - no snacking and stayed within my calories. At last a good drop in weight too. Hope that this is a step change and not a temporary blip.6 -

09/02-198.8-(Trend Weight 199.7)- I made good choices yesterday but the quantities were a bit high. I am glad to see my weight stayed stable, my fat percentage went down and my trend weight continues to go down. Tomorrow is my daughter’s wedding. Hopefully even without that incentive to lose weight, I will still stay on track. My blood pressure continues to be too low and my glucose numbers are through the roof, even with the correct diet. And that is what is so concerning, when I know I have eaten all the “right” foods and my glucose numbers are not responding. The Endocrinologist is probably correct when he says I have become insulin resistant which means I will not respond to the normal oral medications for diabetes anymore. However, I don’t like him and I’m looking for another. So far, no other office within 2 hours of my house. I swear this doctor is at least 110 years old, practically needed help getting into the room, was a grouchy old man and won’t be around much longer anyway. Just being honest……
Okay, I’m off to paint my nails with French manicure. Wish me luck that I can finish them and get them dry before DGS needs too much.

9/1/22- 175.2 lbs Here's to a better Autumn!
9/2/22- 179.4 lbs :-( How one day can be such a big jump, must be water retention. Only 45 minutes/3.41 miles on my Elliptical. It kept seizing up on me. Hadn't happened before till 2-3 hours in. Guess it's about dead! Checked out another store today with ellipticals. Looked at Octane and Spirit brands today. Previously looked at PreCor and Matrix. Any insight from any of you would be appreciated. The repair guy that had come out 10 days ago said they see many repair needs on Matrix and very early on, that they shouldn't. And long waits for parts on them.2 -
I'm Christie, an Aussie, mum to the BEST three year old in the world (I am not even biased). I work as an accountant at a gold mine, which basically means I'm chained to a desk for 9 hours a day! Not great for the waistline, so I try to get up and move my body throughout the day and I'm trying to source a stand-up desk (if my boss will fund it...).

Area for improvement tomorrow: Overall not a very active day. When I was leaving work at 4pm I hadn't even managed 1200 steps all day! That's how you know it's month end at work - I'm stuck at my desk and don't get much movement. Will work harder on that tomorrow.
Today's Little Victory: Served a smaller portion for dinner, felt satisfied so didn't go back for anything else to eat which was a great thing for me.

Area for improvement tomorrow: Steps again, and freggies. It was a long, tiring week and I was exhausted last night, ended up with a migraine. I'd intended to make tacos for dinner but the mince took forever to defrost and it got too late, so eventually I just made a packet of mac & cheese for my son's dinner, and hubby & I had tomato on toast...not a great healthy meal.
Today's Little Victory: Usually I pack my food to take to work the night before, but I didn't this time. So, in a rush in the morning, it would have been so easy to pack myself a baked muesli bar for breakfast, but instead I packed a couple of boiled eggs I had in the fridge, a piece of bread to toast at work, and some cherry tomatoes - a much more filling breakfast that easily got me through the morning!3 -
About Me
My name is Ian and I am a 62 year old male from the Midlands of the UK. I am 6' 0" tall. I have a number of health conditions which prevent me from doing aerobic exercise and I take medication which as a side effect lowers my metabolic rate and increases my feelings of hunger. I can't walk so use a mobility scooter. As a result my weight loss depends totally on calorie intake reduction.
My Goals
My initial target is 100kg by the end of October, to move from obese to simply overweight. I would like to get my waist size below 40" too. My calorie intake target to achieve that is 1,200 - 1,300 calories/day.
For September my goal is 101.8kg, a loss of 1.8kg (0.45kg or 1 lb/week), and a waist size of 42.5"

1/9: 103.6kg. Calories 1310. Body Fat 34.2% Waist size 43.5”
2/9: 103.0kg. Calories 1250. Body Fat 34.2%

My first big blow out since beginning the programme. Just ate and ate, ignoring the inner voice telling me to stop. Some foods hanging around the house that were just too tempting! Surprisingly little weight gain this morning.4 -
My September goals are to get more movement in on workdays-this is severely lacking and to be more mindful of self care.

09/02-198.8-(Trend Weight 199.7)- I made good choices yesterday but the quantities were a bit high. I am glad to see my weight stayed stable, my fat percentage went down and my trend weight continues to go down. Tomorrow is my daughter’s wedding. Hopefully even without that incentive to lose weight, I will still stay on track. My blood pressure continues to be too low and my glucose numbers are through the roof, even with the correct diet. And that is what is so concerning, when I know I have eaten all the “right” foods and my glucose numbers are not responding. The Endocrinologist is probably correct when he says I have become insulin resistant which means I will not respond to the normal oral medications for diabetes anymore. However, I don’t like him and I’m looking for another. So far, no other office within 2 hours of my house. I swear this doctor is at least 110 years old, practically needed help getting into the room, was a grouchy old man and won’t be around much longer anyway. Just being honest……
Okay, I’m off to paint my nails with French manicure. Wish me luck that I can finish them and get them dry before DGS needs too much.

I’m also a daily weigher so really happy to have found this group. I live in B.C., Canada, am 75 yrs old and focusing on staying active, toning and getting back into the 150’s. After retiring a few yrs ago I felt there was still “more” to my life so started working as a server etc at a local seniors’ assisted living home. It’s hard work but I love helping the elderly. My hugest challenge is evening / late night eating; this has been a lifelong struggle. A year ago I was 9 lbs lighter so that’s my 3rd milestone goal. I used WW blue plan as a guideline but had my best success with Noom; now pulling together the best parts of each program but the group wisdom and support I find with MFP is what really keeps me from straying too far off the plan.
1st goal: 161; 2nd goal – 158 (by end of Sept), 3rd goal - 156
