@dawnbgethealthy Thank you for the virtual vacation . Uh, Margaritas + hammock = just sayin'. 🙃
@joans1976 Yes, my pic has always been of my Head of Household, Catpuccino. He absolutely loathes the smell of alcohol. He jumps up on the opposite chair, sniffs, presents me his tail & leaves. Guilt trip much ??
Glad you could get ANY car, in this market.
@Stockholm_Andy Inspiring that you can resist drink while someone else has a few. Pittsburgh makes me want to drink, also...It is one drinkin' town !!

Day Eighteen of Wine vs Water [bloop bloop] 🐠🐟🦀🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🍷🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🍷🐟🐟
A gorgeous 8 point buck and his dining companion had supper in my yard this evening. Wild grape leaves with ivy as dessert. That's the part of Da'Burgh that DOESN'T make me want to drink.6 -
AF again today.

I love this group ❤️
I have greatly reduced my drinking since June and had a great month in August with 26 out of 31 AF days. This month I am trying to be mindful and make self care a priority.
9/1-9/7: 7 out of 7 AF
9/8-9/14: 6 AF out 7

Lots happening here but too long to ramble on about. I hope everyone is well.

My car has died. I was trying to make it through September with it since so much is going on but it just couldn’t hold on. Car shopping today. The fun never stops!

Dawn lovely pictures! Let us live vicariously through you where our biggest problem is getting our blue toenail painted foot tangled in a hammock! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!4 -
@forestdweller1 Catpuccino is such an adorable name. Cats can be judgey. I have something on the wall that reads “this house is maintained entirely for the comfort and convenience of the cat” and people see it and say “ha ha that’s cute.” And I say”I’m dead serious about that sign.”5
-
@joans1976 Thanks. No I don't feel like I missed out really. Ultimately, I've set myself a goal and I'm glad I'm sticking to it
@forestdweller1 Let's just say it makes a change that is ME being the sensible one, it'll surprise none of you I am sure that my wife has been the one being sensible much more often than me
@dawnbgethealthy Amazing vacation photo's thanks for sharing. The guacamole looks excellent. I think your giant Lime may be an unripe orange though. At least I've made that mistake a few times
29 days AF so far.
In that time I've lost 5KG (11 lbs) - although I was up higher than normal post vacation.
I will also say I am sleeping way better. The first 2 weeks it was very hard to get to sleep without a whole load of booze in my system every night. Now though I am, usually, sleeping(most) the way through the night and the sleep quality seems better.

@Stockholm_Andy All of that is awesome to hear! 29 days is no easy thing! Very glad to hear about your sleep, sleep is so important.6
-
@Breathe57103 I hope your days have gotten better. Grief sometimes hits like a freight train and manifests in so many different, wonky ways.
@Stockholm_Andy wow, what strength to resist! You made “tomorrow you” very happy.
@globalhiker oh I hear you on the “menopot”. It’s so frustrating, my clothes don’t look good on me anymore. I’m thin and In shape everywhere else, but no matter what I eat or don’t eat, I have a very frustrating pot belly.
@joans1976 sorry to hear your car died. Hopefully you can trade in what you have now for what you want next year, when hopefully things calm down. BTW I have a
Lexus hybrid SUV and freaking love it. It’s my second one. It’s amazing on gas (for an SUV). My first one has 210,000 miles on it, being used by my son, and is still going strong.4 -
What a weekend! Very proud of myself for being AF on Friday night- first time in recorded history! Saturday I had 2.5 drinks after being in a dragon boat race, and yesterday had a total of 2.5 drinks. Amazing day to sail. Just perfect weather. But I’m exhausted today after having so much fun.
Back to being AF tonight. Oh and work today!5 -
@dawnbgethealthy great vacation photos! Looks and sounds like such a nice time.
@Womona I'm always proud of AF weekend nights too! Did not manage any this past weekend myself.
@Stockholm_Andy 29 days! Amazing weight loss results too! I saw your comment earlier about resisting when your wife drank the other night. That's the hardest for me--being AF when my husband isn't. Good job with your willpower! Hooray for no hangovers!
I had a lot of drinks over the weekend, ugh. I don't know if that's why I'm wiped out today or what. I was going to be AF yesterday but I have such a hard time not joining in when my husband has a beer! The kids have gymnastics tonight so it will be an easy AF day today, but I need to be AF all week this week and next week to make my goal, haha. I kind of procrastinated accomplishing my goal for the month. I stocked up on flavored seltzer yesterday which always helps.

I am Dawn. I live in Cranbrook BC.
I joined this thread in November of 2018 as a daily drinker.
I have found a sweet spot for myself, 16-20 AF days per month.
I had 18 for August.
I will be in Mexico for a good chunk of September and will definitely be having some Margaritas and possibly Cervezas.
I post in the mornings to MFP, so the next day for this thread.
Diary style.
Sunday Sept 11 - AF - Planned AF for Monday and Tuesday. I arrive in LA at 3pm on Tuesday and staying there until Wednesday morning, where I depart for Zhihuatanejo. I may have a Margarita at a beach bar on Wednesday, we'll see. Packing up my laptop after this post, I will check back in on Thursday.
Monday Sept 12 - AF - I have to get up at 2:30am to be at the airport for 4:30
Tuesday Sept 13 - AF - Arrived in LA for the day and night. Met a very nice young man in the pool and had a good conversation
Wednesday Sept 14 - 1 Margarita. Flight delay and forever getting through customs so I was late to the property. Turns out the beautiful cobblestone street that I thought that I would be living on was torn up and muddy with construction. Pretty much impossible for the cabby. Somehow got into my "bungalow" and back down the hill in the mud to a little place where I had a drink and took two containers to my room, one of rice, one of beans. (I see that the rest that I typed didn't go through because of wifi)
Thursday Sept 15 - Cocktails on the beach
Friday Sept 16 - Takeout cocktails - very very busy at all of the places because of the holiday, no seats
Saturday Sept 17 - 2 Margaritas at a not busy little spot that I found on day 1 here, just a muddy hill to get to it. Brought some more containers of rice and beans back to my place from there.
Sunday September 18 - Homemade Margaritas with my lime/orange thing. Pretty good. Planned AF for Monday so that when I wake up Tuesday for my birthday I will be raring to go and my belly will be flatter for spending the entire day in my bathing suit.
Monday September 19 - AF - Not looking good for hitting my 16 this month. Planning drinks and dinner on the beach for my birthday if it isn't raining too much. Oh, no earthquake here btw, and I am up on a hill and in a cove if a tsunami does form. The quake was north of here. Once I got wifi lots of people messaged me to see if I was okay, I hadn't known that there had been a quake and didn't feel anything. Sunny and blue all day today, walked very far and also visited another beach, but took a micro (van sort of bus) back at 1pm too hot for such a long walk (only a few miles, but up and down very big hills in the sun), stopped in town for cash on hand for my bday, walked back from there, grabbed an awesome iced espresso then went to the pool until 4:30. The big rain started just after I got back to my room. Love it from my covered terrace.
Rolling total: 9AF days out of 19 days.7 -
@dawnbgethealthy I actually heard about the earthquake and thought of you! So glad you are okay! Sorry to hear about your cobblestone street. Glad you are experiencing the food and sights and beach! Loved the pictures! Happiest of Birthdays to you! 🌈4

I've posted here before but then fell off the wagon ( not just the booze wagon, the while MFP wagon), so in back.
Stopping regular weekend alcohol consumption is my number 1 route to success. I'm not looking to teetotal, but if like to be someone who only drinks at events. It's hard because my husband drinks, and my whole family are regular drinkers and weirdly enough it's not the temptation of the alcohol is more that, without being rude, it's easier to be around drinking people when I'm drinking.
But. Drinking is the number 1 cause of my bad decisions on weekends. Not the only cause, but the primary.
Drinking makes me not want to cook.
Drinking makes me lazy and justify take out
Drinking makes me tired, but ironically sleep poorly.
Drinking makes me want to do nothing the next day.
Drinking is wasted calories.
I need to keep telling myself these things! I'm perfectly happy not drinking, can keep all types of alcohol in the house, can be around people without hankering for a drink ( though noted above, I start to cave when they start to be annoying). I sleep better, feel better, make better decisions.
So. We have a 4 day weekend this weekend and I'm.... Not planning on drinking. At all. Let's see how I go.8 -
Sept accountability: 6 days AF
Alcohol: 13 days (30 drinks)
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.
