I recently returned to MFP after realizing I had gained quite a bit of weight--just no longer "bothering" to log my food. Anyway, I'm back and now log absolutely everything. I have 2 6-year-old granddaughters (cousins, not twins) who were both at my house. They were writing like crazy and I thought they were playing school, like they usually do. Then I overheard them discussing what they had for lunch and how you spell pizza and realized they were trying to log their food! I love that they already have a feel for being accountable and watching what you put in your mouth. Too bad I didn't learn that a LONG time ago!8

I had a doctor appointment a couple days ago and she never even hesitated about using the regular blood pressure cuff, instead of the larger one.10

I'm needing to refurb my wardrobe now. There's a sizeable gap in my pants around my waist now (around 10cm) and I'm now actually able to fit into a size L (for some brands). Last time I fit into a size L was back in high school.
Another couple of NSVs are that I'm now at the lower end of the pre-diabetic blood sugar range (estimated HBA1c of 5.8%). Nine weeks ago, I was at 10%. And I've gone from being Grade 1 hypertensive (150/100 first thing in the morning) to having a regular/optimal blood pressure level now (this morning 100/64).14 -
Just found this thread. Got a few NSVs that have all kind of popped up together.
I found a pic earlier that was taken previously, and was mortified at how round my face was. It's a stark difference and a real motivator to stay on track. We don't always see the gradual changes happening day to day when we look in the mirror...
I got lab work done and got the results the other day, and numbers that were way out of range are getting back to normal without the use of any medications. My doctor wanted to put me on things to control blood pressure and cholesterol and such, I told him no, I wanted to try to get it under control with diet and exercise. I think it's working.
I bought some pants for a road trip in early September. I felt like they were on the verge of being a little too close fitting at the time. I found them while digging through my dresser today, tried them on and they fall off of me. Even with a belt, I think they'd look loose and bad. I sort of expected that because my t-shirts are all baggy now and I've had to tighten my belt with the jeans and shorts I wear most days, but I was a little surprised at just how loose they actually were.
I can totally relate to the thing about eating half the pan, one of my biggest struggles is still that I don't have to be hungry to eat, and I don't stop when I'm full. It has taken a degree of willpower that I didn't know I had within myself to get past it.

Gone through a complete heart evaluation due to chest pains, when climbing the staircase, of all things. Both parents died of weak hearts and diabetes and I’ve had an illness in the past that generally causes heart conditions, so I figured I’d do the entire gamut to be the safe side.
The final “visit” was a phone review and evaluation. (Everything fine, just chalked up to muscular.)
The PA was asking about if I exercised and I replied yes. “Tell me what you’ve done today”.
I reeled off the list, which included several long walks, personal training session, a cardio class and a hot yoga class.
She then asked me what I ate and I told her I was high protein and low carbs and fat, and could provide a complete spreadsheet of calories and workouts.
Absolute dead silence.
I heard her slam some papers on her desk and then she said,” well, I guess we don’t need to worry about you, then.”
She did ask for the spreadsheet. I don’t think she believed me, lol. Sometimes, I don’t even believe myself.

Back on track after covid was such a great excuse to drink too much and not exercise.
#1- Just hit normal BMI.
#2- Looked in the mirror and remembered what my body really looks like without too much fluff covering it. "Oh, hello body, there you are".
#3- Realized that my diet in the last few years was really not far off. I LOVE vegetables. But the poor decisions of drinking too much and exercising too little was what was derailing me. Now that I have it all put back in order I feel so good being in control and back to myself.
#4- Touched my toes, for a minute. Now to keep on stretching.
#5- After calculating all my data in a spreadsheet for almost 2 months (nerd alert), I am very, very close to that "in 5 weeks..." weight from 5 weeks ago. Like, almost spot on.
Still have 20 pounds to go to goal, but so happy with the process.18 -
In January of 2021 I weighed 340 lbs. I had SADI-S surgery at the end of August 2021. Yesterday December 10, 2022 I ran two 5Ks.17
-
Was with a group of people who (finally) noticed my weight loss, just over 20 pounds. "Wow you look great, etc." Some people asked how I did it and when I said "writing things down," one person just didn't believe me. I was also touched by the people who said, "On purpose, right?" (E.g., not from cancer or something else.)7

finally convinced my heart doctor that I only need to come once a year so that she could refill by water pills....that was a win...continued weight loss no chest pain upon exertion etc.........today I see the pulmonary dr so I am hoping for the same win.8 -
This morning I shoveled 3 sidewalks and 4 sets of steps to clear 7" of wet, heavy snow. Only took me 23 mins and I didn't break a sweat or get out of breath once! Would have taken be about twice that long at this time last year with breaks for catching my breath.10

So two and a half months ago, before I get started on my fitness and health journey, I'm wearing size 40 in my favourite pants/shorts manufacturer: 5.11 Tactical.
Yesterday morning as I'm putting on my work pants, I'm realising how ludicrous the gap at the front of my pants are, such that I have to really go super tight with my XL sized belt. Made a decision to go to my usual shop after finishing work to see if I can try on the size I think I need: size 36.
I get there, try on a pair of size 36 pants and shorts and find they are still too loose.
I start laughing out loud in the fitting room when I find that I fit into size 34 perfectly (and only have a little gap at the front of them to cinch with a belt, which I will also have to buy that is one size smaller). The shop attendant celebrates my win along with me as I'm paying.
This is a massive win for me personally as I have never ever thought I'd ever be lower than a size 38. It isn't a win for my bank balance though as it means I'll really need to get a new wardrobe collection in the near future!!!21 -
Two of my friends, a Co worker and a cousin have told me over the past month that they decided to get in shape and make changes because of the weight I've lost this past year (135 pounds)25

I was able to buckle my seat belt without an extender on United and Southwest flights recently! It was not possible earlier this year in APR and embarrassing to ask the attendant for an extender as I walked on to the plane. Now I feel like I can go anywhere and not worry about that!24

Took almost 3 years, but it was bound to happen. Went positive with rona early last week. I never got really bad and worst was I lost smell for just over 2 days. Since I wasn’t fatigued and never had a fever I never took a day off and managed to at least do some slow pace treadmill walks. Today I did a 5k so yeah I’ll take it.. Stay healthy and Happy Holidays to all.12

I did running (by way of intervals) for the first time in forever. Considering that two months ago I couldn't even run 15-20 seconds in total over a 30 min power walk, it was a pleasant surprise to run for just under 10 mins in a 35 min run/power walk interval session last night.21

November 30 I weighed myself. December social gatherings baking. I weighed myself December 12 up.6 lb. Tracked put away junk exercised more. today I’ve lost1.4 lbs. any weight loss in December is a victory13

Two weeks removed from hip replacement I am walking 1.25 miles and doing PT daily. Pain is at a minimum.23

I tried on a black mini skirt I used to wear when I was much slimmer. I thought I wouldn't be able to get it over my thighs. Turned out that not only could I get it over my thighs but my hips too. I couldn't zip it up but it was so much closer to fitting than I thought it would be. I remember how great this skirt looked and I can see myself fitting into again. Was so happy. I hung it in my closet.19

Since Thanksgiving Day, and being sick, I've lost close to 10 lbs. Mostly from changes in eating habits. I've kept it up since I've been feeling better, except for yesterday and eating a large unsalted pretzel with cheese for lunch. (You need to have something occasionally, right?)
I've had more energy since I've been feeling better. Getting better sleep most nights. I can see a loss in stomach bloat too.9 -
The scale hasn’t really changed much in the last few months but the resistance training must actually be paying off - I noticed yesterday that I have a smooth waistline again - that middle age muffin has finally gone 💪17

Since thanks giving I’ve been working a Santa railroad. 9am to 8 pm Saturday 9-5 Sunday. There is a employee potluck. Candy, cookies the 1 st two weeks i did not handle it well. This food is there all day. Last weekend I handled it better. Today I was real successful. Chex mix, is a lot better than fudge.7

Random lady rolled down her minivan window as my husband and I were walking our big floofer, and you don’t see a lot of 165 pound Great Pyrenees in Florida so I was expecting a comment about him, but she actually said “I have been promising myself I was going to tell you ‘Great job! You’re really looking good!’” And then she said something about it encouraging her to do something and get out there, too! 😀
It was nice to hear. I’ve been kind of down since my doctor said he would rather me not be getting my heart rate up into cardio levels so it was a nice pick me up!
Also, my VO2 max, as recorded by my Apple Watch is the highest is ever been. 💪

I have a swimsuit with the tags still on it that I purchased almost 9 years ago ( the last time I was down close to this weight). It's a size 12. My size 14 has been feeling kinda big on me but I wasn't sure if it was just getting stretched out or I had lost enough weight that it was really too big. I tried that swimsuit on today and it fits great!27

I have a massage every 2 months as they are paid for under hubbys' extended health benefits. Since dropping 34 lbs., I really noticed how much easier it is to roll over on the massage table this time. Can't wait till my next one and hopefully another 10lbs dropped. It can only get easier each time!!11

After a year at my goal weight, I finally got up the nerve to give two bags of larger sized clothes that I'd been holding onto "just in case." They're going to a darling lady who is thrilled to get them. Her enthusiasm gave me the push I needed.24

I went from being a XXXL shirt on Feb.24 2002 when I started my journey to an XL today!25
