THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

1/22 168.2 Up a bit since yesterday. Last round I just let loose. Lot's of good things that shook up my routines and I gave in and let it get away from me. Surprisingly I ended the round down in pounds. I'll be happy with one pound down every 10 days. I am not in any rush to reach my goal weight--but I want to change my habits so that it doesn't creep back up.
1/23 168.6 rejoined OTF signed up for 8 classes a month but after going two days in a row I think I will get addicted again and want to increase.
1/24 167.0 Banged my toe last night and it is all swollen. I will get it looked at today and hopefully I will be able to do INFERNO at OTF on Thursday. It is a series of tread/row blocks and then the floor exercises.
1/25 168.4 I am wondering if this is due to going over on my sodium last night. I had a lot of soy sauce with my Mung bean sprouts. I had a lot of sodium for dinner tonight too. I think it might be worth tracking to see if there is a correlation between night time salt and scale gains.
1/26 168.4 So the morning after another high sodium night and my weight stayed the same. Tonight I stayed on the low side for sodium so we will see what the scale looks like tomorrow. My toe is feeling a bit better so hopefully tomorrow I will be back at the gym. I can get it into sneakers again.
1/27 169.0 hmmm so maybe salt isn't the problem. I did eat dinner later than usual last night and I also have been having a glass of milk with dinner the past three nights which is something I haven't done in a long time. I was just getting sick of water and without booze, milk is my preferred beverage--what can I say I'm a child of the 80s we drank milk with meals. It is a comfort beverage. So tonight, no milk. I worked out and feel really good. Tomorrow is going to be a whole day out and there will be booze. It was kind of what I was saving up for . I don't plan on too many smileys tomorrow. But I booked a morning class at OTF before the festivities so at least one smiley should happen.
1/28 165.8 Well wouldn't you just look at that. Maybe it was the salt wait before. Maybe it was the extra water yesterday. Maybe I just can't drink milk. Maybe it was the work out yesterday. No idea what it was but THIS RIGHT HERE is the reason why I can't let daily fluctuations get to me. I could have beat myself up saying -- I am gaining I need to cut more calories--but instead I tried to assess and didn't let it bother me to much, and bam--I'm lower than I have been in months today.
I am off to the gym now for an early morning class, then a full day of fun in the city. I will definitely not stay dry today and I probably won't hydrate as much, and I may or may not try to log my food. I will check in again tomorrow.

Hello, Iβm Amanda. I did great with these 10 day challenges in the summer and the fall but some things have changed health wise and Iβm finding it harder to lose the weight. Hereβs hoping for a more positive outcome this time around.
OSW: 250 lbs
1/22 SW: 204.4
1/31 GW: 203.4
1/22: 204.4
Up a little bit due to celebratory pizza last night but this will come off. It was a really good reason to celebrate and you canβt miss big milestones in life!
1/23: 201.7 (!)
Weighed myself twice. Hopefully I can stay here!
1/24: 200.7 (!)
Again, weighed myself twice. Bodies are so strange!
(I also realized yesterday I put my weight in as 101, not 201β¦lol)
1/25: 201.7
Up, down, up, down. Overall a downward trend this round.
1/26: 200.7
Lots of snow here, almost landed myself in a ditch yesterday and I was going slow. Very fatigued too, work is a killer this week. I will keep going!
1/27: 201.7
Feeling very low today. The only thing I can think of to say is TGIF.
1/28: 203.7
I expected this. I ate my emotions yesterday and had a salty snack before bed. I will try to do better today.

1/22 β 147.2 So round 210 was on target, 211 started great, then distractions came in again. I have to figure out how to not swing extremes. This morning was more up from yesterday, but DH and I went out to eat last night and I made choices without regard to calories (cocktail, pad thai, and half a huge dessert). But I am back here today. Round 212. Thoughtful breakfast choices and will plan out my day as I will be βoutβ for most of the day and will need to face one meal out of the house.
1/23 β 146.2 yesterday went well enough. Spent the day at my parentsβ assisted living apartment. I worked through cleaning the place up. They collect things and also seem to not be able to put things away. Tracked well, but no exercise.
1/24 - 147.0 No tracking, no exercise
1/25 β 145.2 Thoughtful food selections, but not MFP tracking. Still no exercise. Massachusetts weather is lousy ATM, not ready to get back into the Apple workouts, and tons to do in the two weeks I am up north. Counting on reestablishing exercise habits during the 3 months in Florida and my returning to pleasant weather in May. Starting my Invisalign this morning. Quite nervous about the process given my teeth are not young, and Iβve spent too much time reading about complications.
1/26 β 144.2 Tracked properly with MFP. Tracking was after the fact which is not my favorite, but hey, I tracked! AND was under my target!! Invisalign is ATM not bad. I had heard day 1 could be awful (kept remembering I have unused oxycodone from a 2018 surgery). Havenβt even needed Tylenol (Advil is a no no on Invisalign, sadly my preferred pain med). Tricky aspects is nothing but water while trays in, and goal is to have them in 22 hours a day. AND they are a pain to get out and must brush, floss/waterpic, and clean trays before putting them in. βPickingβ on food will be very much deterred. Today, I need to plan ahead so that I get enough food in each meal so that I can make it to the next. Very foreign concept to me. Estimate for me is 14 months of this, so maybe I will have some new eating habits by then.
1/27 β 144.4 Two days of new learning curve of dealing with food and drinks with Invisalign. Cooking is a totally different experience for those of us that βtasteβ while cooking. You canβt, or you either have to take the trays out and clean (not so easy) or you risk sugars creeping under the tray and sitting there long term working at rotting your teeth. No more spoon licking :β( . Had three meals and a midafternoon coffee, so four βoutsβ. Tracking/planning ahead worked pretty well. I was hungry by the next meal, but I think that is how we are supposed to be. :P Came in at 1540 calories. Should not have produced an βupβ, but that tells me that my recent ups and down have a solid fluid component to them.
1/28 β 144.0 Great, so possibly will end this round lower than round 210, which would be nice. I had a dream last night that I was eating with my Invisaligns in. Maybe that has to do with my being hungry since about 8 PM last night. :P

Round 212 EW 198.0 (-1.8)
Goal this round to lose 1 lb! Drink more water (hard for me when it's cold out) and to stretch minimum of 5 minutes every day.
SW Round 212: 198.0
Day/Weight/Comment
1/22 198.0
1/23 197.4
1/24 198.4 wrong direction but I lifted weights for the first time in a few weeks so probably holding water
1/25 199.0 even more wrong direction! I did go over my calorie goal yesterday but not by a lot.. we shall see what tomorrow brings. Plan to drink plenty of water today.
1/26 197.4 ok that's better. maybe my body go the picture about weight lifting. I stayed up really late reading a novel all in one sitting last night, it's probably been 20 years since I did that last, haha! and I also feel like I'm getting an ear infection, which I also have not had in about 20 years? weird day!
1/27 197.4 again, not bad, had a glass of wine last night and my food was a bit high sodium. The cold weather makes me not want to drink water and we've had a ton of rain so I don't want to get outside as much. Making up for it with tea and inside yoga.

1/22: 122
1/23: 121.6 - waiting for TOM to get here any minute. Have a dog walk and a treadmill run planned today. Itβs chilly out there so not particularly excited about the dog walk π₯Ά Happy Monday everyone!
1/24: 120.8 - still waiting for TOM. Was an utter insomniac last night but I'm trying not to focus on the lack of sleep (mind over matter?). Today I have plans for a dog walk and a Peloton ride, and chicken adobo with baby bok choy for dinner. Tonight I'm taking my dogs for a training consult with a company that uses e-collars for correction. I feel hesitant about it but also my dogs are so hard to walk and I'm tired of it. I want to improve our relationship since we're in this for the long haul.
1/25: 120.8 again. I'm fine with maintaining here for a while TBH. I have a feeling I'll have a whoosh loss if TOM ever gets here. Today I have plans for a 45-minute endurance run on the treadmill. It is really rainy outside so I doubt my poor pooches will get a walk. I don't think they love the rain much more than I do!
1/26: 119.8! There's TOM (finally - I was starting to worry when it was 3 days late! 2 babies is plenty for me) and a little whoosh. I did my 45-minute treadmill run yesterday and my legs are sore today. Think I'll take an active recovery day and try to focus on work since I got nothing done yesterday. I'll do some dog walking and/or yoga I think. I found a race to sign up for in May. It's a 10k at the New River Gorge in WV that goes rim to rim, so it's 1300 feet down and then 1300 feet up!
1/27 - 119.6. Yesterday I did a really fun Peloton walk on my Tread and some relaxed yoga. It felt so good! Today has started off weird because I decided to take my youngest in for an ear infection and a covid test (there was an exposure at his school this week and he developed a new cough). Negative for covid and we were able to get some abx for his ears. Weβd been using drops but they werenβt doing the trick. Poor kiddo. Now Iβm waiting at the pharmacy and will take him to daycare once I get a dose of amoxicillin in him. So Iβve essentially already burned a half day of work. Glad I had a productive day yesterday at least!! Happy Friday, everyone!
1/28 - 119.8. I definitely ate too much and didnβt make good choices yesterday. We went out for dinner and I had a huge cheeseburger. I couldnβt finish it but I had other bites of things. Glad I didnβt do any other damage. I cut off eating early because I took my pre-schooler to open gym where he does Ninja classes. Today weβre planning an all day outing to a transportation museum and rock climbing gym. Iβll have to be mindful of what Iβm eating since weβll be eating out!

1/28 - 163.8 - Quite alright, no hugs needed. This is sodium and general foodbaby uptick from a delightful dinner out. We went out to our local hibachi place for dinner to get out of the house. I got a bento box with teriyaki steak, tempura veg and shrimp (why must it be fried? At least there's some extra protein and nutrients still there), and california roll. I also ensured to eat all my miso and salad before dinner to help fill me up before the calorie bomb showed up to the table. I didn't eat all of it and focused on the proteins and veg before allowing myself to indulge in the roll and (best in town) fried rice. Today we are headed to the big city to get BF a suit jacket. I'm tasked with matching it to his already-owned slacks and shirts. We'll likely be eating out while there as it's an hour to hour and a half drive depending on traffic. I'm feeling confident. Today is the first day I've felt neutral. I've been feeling fat/bloated/heavy since October before I gained back all the weight (and then some) I had previously lost in this challenge. It's a nice feeling and I want it to stay so I'm very motivated to keep that up.

Previous Day's Comments1/22 - Headed out of town in a bit and there's a chance we won't come back until tomorrow (bringing work things to work on the road as a precaution) which also means no weigh in until Tuesday at the earliest. I wanted to let you all know I'm still alive. BF's dad and brother weren't so bad, though they all got a little silly Friday night and I went to bed with some loud sleepy music to drown out the loud talking/laughing. They left yesterday around noon and I spent the day putting my house/routine back in order. Pups are getting along now, for 3 mornings now they've taken to play fighting for hours as soon as I let them out after waking up. It's been an hour now and I can still hear them going at it. I'm glad, though. Harley still isn't sure about bed and couch sharing, but she's getting better. I'm working to get back into routine myself, but travel will postpone a little bit of that. For the most part, I stuck to my habits, though.
1/23 - DNP
1/24 - Not bad for not having weighed, tracked, and generally not checking in. Plus, TOM showed up on Saturday afternoon a little earlier than expected. And then travel, which not only lowers my water intake but also increases my eating out/unhealthy options. It's currently chilly, but a beautiful rainy morning. I did my workout to the sounds of rain on a metal roof. Journaled to the same sound. Just did a couple sun salutations under my porch overhang to thank Mother Nature for the rain as yesterday it was announced we were in a burn ban due to the dry conditions. I've taken to doing 3 iterations of sun salutation-forward fold-half fold-forward fold-sun salutation iterations a morning. It gets me focusing on my breath first thing, I always go to out on my back porch/deck (depending on weather) to get fresh air, and on clear days, I get a beautiful sunrise which always lifts my mood first thing. Despite missing my beautiful sunrise, it lifted my mood but that's due to the aforementioned dry conditions in the area being remedied. I went shopping and got myself the makings of a nice cobb salad I'll be able to munch on for at least 2 days this week, if not more. I also got the ingredients for making my own wontons/steamed dumplings which BF and I both like. Hoping this week will be a quick turnaround back into good habits after last week's upheaval. Also, it's good to be back here (: I've missed you all.
1/25 - Oh I'm so proud of that number! I ended up making a GIANT cobb salad yesterday and BF decided to be a smarty pants and say "I hope that's not for dinner! It looks good, but too many green things" and so we had taco salad for dinner bahahahah! Today I did my workout, as planned, and am all caught up. Rest day tomorrow. Workout Friday, my day off, and then vet visit with Smoke for more shots and follow up on surgery. Hopefully cleared to bathe and walk! Harley is so mad for stopping our evening routine and bugs me every night. Sorry girl, I miss it, too. Cobb salad again today for lunch. I did eat breakfast but kept portions fairly small and hope dinner can stay small, but filling, as well to avoid eating back all my exercise calories. I have the last of the cobb salad for tomorrow and plenty of leftover veg for more salads! Hopefully I can eat it all before it goes bad.
1/26 - I indulged in a small slice of my homemade strawberry swirl cheesecake (everything, including crust, is from scratch) after dinner. I was right at expected calories for Fitbit and under by 57 on MFP despite that splurge. It is lactose-heavy, though, so I'm not surprised at the little extra bloat, both visibly and on the scale. No workout today as I did 2 in a row already. Back at it tomorrow. Will be mindful about getting up and moving through the day, though. I have leftover cobb salad to finish up for lunch. Not sure dinner yet, but I should know by lunchtime and can adjust from there. Hoping to fast today and not need breakfast. Yesterday I was very nauseous and ate but hoping today I can push it a little further. Dinner was also later last night than it has been in a little while so I should be able to "tough it out" until lunch (and by "tough it out" I mean avoid the habit/boredom/mindless eating I'm used to while working. If I get nauseous or actually hungry, I'll eat)
1/27 - Sodium? Uptick from the cheesecake 2 days ago? I have no idea why I'm up today. I was under calorie goal (estimate since I was working late and didn't see what BF put in dinner specifically. He told me, but I couldn't estimate measurements) and didn't eat back any of my very miniscule exercise calories. I woke up about 15 minutes before my alarm today so I've already knocked out my FeelGoodPlan workout. Debating if I want to attempt yoga with the pups finally settled down and back sleeping (it won't last). Already finished all my scripting and journaling once I hit post on this... Grocery shopping today as well as taking the pup to the vet. A lot of driving. Wish I could take the pup in with me into the grocery store. I'm a tad nervous using curbside pickup as I had a bad experience with them after I broke my back in Kansas. The produce they picked for me had a bunch of mold on it! And the milk was out of date. I've heard good things from friends about the store here so I'm hoping it works out. Now to make sure I have everything I need in my cart... eek! I guess this risk is better than driving the 40 minute (one way) trip into town twice!

01/27 -196.0- (Trend weight 197.7) Today shows a nice whoosh after a very good day of diet. I was able to go down to the school yesterday and walk inside for 45 minutes because my daughter works there. That was so nice. They havenβt allowed that since 2019 before the Covid school shut-downs. I plan on doing this a couple of times a week. I will also be rotating in the equipment that has taken over my livingroom. Iβm still feeling strong in my resolve. Today is a travel day with a friend who eats too much and is very overweight. She needed a driver. My diet may be off but I will work hard to not undo all my progress. Thanks to everyone who noticed my 5 year anniversary on MFP yesterday. Wow! Where has the time gone?
01/28 -197.8- (Trend weight 197.7) After travel and no medication yesterday I blew it with too many βdietβ snacks last night including popcorn I could not afford after a bit of a high carb day. Self-sabotage was in full swing I guess. I was also feeling pretty depressed as I showed up at the school to walk with my oldest DD and they said I needed to fill out their paperwork (thatβs new!), get a lanyard badge and we canβt walk until after 4:30. My DD is unable to walk except for directly after school so she had to give it up and we wonβt be able to spend that bit of time together. I was so sad about this that I sat in my car when I drove back home for about an hour in my garage. I didnβt even have the strength to get out of the car, I was so burdened. I feel I ruined it for her too since seeing me flagged the secretary at the school. I definitely ate my emotions last night. I can, however, walk at the school on non-travel days and will still be planning that. My youngest Daughter and DGS are here as usual for the weekend and I am babysitting today. I will try to make it a banner day to compensate a bit for last night and hope some of this is the non-medication bloat I get after traveling. Iβm really getting tired of the 197 β 200 weight range I seem to be bouncing around in for nearly a year now! 192 would be such a welcome change. Still aiming, however, ultimately for the 180βs so I can cross the 190βs off my list above. Then 179 or lower to get into overweight range. Then goal. I donβt care how long it takes but sooner is better than later with the diabetes issues. Pre-logging today, getting some time on my exercise machines (if DGS will leave me alone for 30 minutes) and flushing with plenty of water today are all part of the plan.

@deepwoodslady You do need help from a medical professional but here is an old article I hadnβt seen before - https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/low-carb-diet-for-diabetes#Whats-the-optimal-carb-intake-for-people-with-diabetes?
A hundred years ago, low carb was the method of treating diabetes. Itβs nice to see the medical science has finally figured out how well it works. Some doctors are resistant. My theory is they donβt want to βcureβ their patients because those people are their livelihood.
There are many books about the value of low carb but in your situation, you do need to be monitored by a professional who is in agreement with the low carb life.1 -

Then I hurt my foot, so the exercise stopped and my weight loss stalled as I was maintaining (if not gaining) even though I was eating well; clearly, it was the empty calories. So I decided to skip the booze and OMG...It's not like I didn't know it but I just didn't take action~Both Goals met ββ

@quiltingjaine Thanks for an excellent article. Of course, the dietician will help me navigate as this article addresses the diabetes (which is what I was looking for), and I have the heart healthy to contend with also. (No butter etc.). It is nice to have a starting point of 90 carbs or less. I had put 100 carbs in my macros but was usually closer to 115 when logging. I will continue to reduce when meal planning. The lower the better, of course. Hopefully this dietician will help me to figure out how to eat a diabetic diet, a heart healthy diet and a weight loss diet all at once with menus that include more than 3 meals a day of chicken breast and nuts lol. Right now I am trying to substitute some of my low carb foods with low fat items. Low fat cottage cheese, plant based margarine, etc.
Thanks for the article. Healthline is an excellent source too. 90 grams or less, here I come! BTW, on Keto I did count net carbs but I have not been doing that on the low carb plan. My counts have been for total carbs which I know is what you agree with most. The article did touch on the pros and cons of both ways. I rarely ever eat back my exercise calories or carbs. Thanks again for the resource.1 -

Good. Iβm headed back down despite the sample oatmeal-coconut-raisin cookie from the batch I baked for DH. I just shoveled the driveway and sidewalks so Iβm feeling warm and energized! I hope it sticks for a few hours. Still wrestling with puppy-induced sleep deprivation, although he did nap a long time yesterday afternoon because one of my training buddies brought her 15-week-old Flat-coated Retriever puppy over to play. My Booker is 10.5 weeks. Boy, did they have fun wrestling and running and getting wet and dirty. We had fun watching, and then cleaning them up! Some of you said βmore pics,β so here they are in a less frenzied moment, my Booker on the left and Chaos on the right. Cutie boys.

Does this round seem to be slipping by extra quickly, or is it just me? I just hope the rest of Jan and Feb go as quicklyβthe really cold weather makes it much harder to manage puppy energy, though it does help when he runs like a nut through the snow, which is up to his chin. Thereβs a lot of ice, though, and ice on top of snow, and Iβm afraid of falling, so I donβt go out with him muchβ I stand on the clear part of patio and throw things. I wish I could run of calories like Booker does! Ok, have a great Saturday, and stay warm & safe if your in the freeze zone.

Day/Weight/Comment
1/22-186.8
1/23 - 187.6 - we did homemade pizza last night...carbs and salty meat...rest of the day was good
1/24 - 185.8 - good way to start the day!
1/25 - 185.2 - was setting up for a client yesterday...11 hours and 15000 steps. Brought a salad with tuna and cottage cheese instead of going out for lunch and lots of water which seems to have fended off the carb/sodium bloat from the leftover pizza I scarfed down when I got home.
1/26 - 184.4 - We only did half a day at set up yesterday as a big storm was rolling in and we didn't want to deal with the drive if we stayed later. Got home in time to pop over to our local with hubby...chose a craft gin and soda vs a craft beer.
1/27 - 183.0 - Was not expecting this! DS(17) was making dinner for us when I got home from set up last night...and as not to deter the teenager from taking the initiative to make dinner I just guestimated my logging based on what he told me was in it. He used way more oil and soy sauce than I would so I was expecting some sodium bloat today. Gift show set up is done and I don't have any work booked for a while so I'll have to keep myself busy and moving in other ways.
1/28 - 181.8 - Again.... wow...that's the first week for you though, all water weight and bloat, I do not expect this rate of loss to continue but will stick with the plan!!! Took the dog for an hour hike in the woods near our house yesterday, it was lovely with all of the recent snow we've had but a bit of a slog, but that makes for a good workout for sure. Had an awesome steak dinner last night, filled my plate with lots of broccoli and only a few roasted potatoes Happy weekend!!

Have you tried Monkfruit sweetener? It natural, ZERO calorie and often touted as a better sweetener because of all its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It's definitely a little pricey but a little goes a long way. Good luck and Happy Friday!
@amnu_co I have not heard of Monkfruit sweetener. I searched for info on it and I'll give it a try. Thanks for letting me know!

I was part of this challenge a while back, and was glad to see it's still around (thank you @quiltingjaine! ) In June, I was diagnosed with a serious medical illness. I had surgery with great results! I stress-ate like there was no tomorrow, and didn't exercise at all. I'm back to just 6 pounds from my heaviest. I'm having a hard time getting back to my healthy ways. This forum helped me before so I'm back, not just for the accountability but because how kind and supportive everyone is to each other.
Goal this round:
Do NOT eat sugar or white flour. These are my downfall. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Start back rowing/walking/weights. Eat healthy. Drink 80oz water each day.
01/21 - Start Weight: 180.2
Round 212
01/22 - 177.9 - As I've gained weight this time, I've gotten closer and closer to the 180's and hitting 180 yesterday, I hope, jerked me awake. My plan was never to see that number again (and for that matter, I never "planned" to see any of the numbers I've seen, who does, right? ) . Anyway, yesterday was a really good day, finally! I did as I have done every day, which is eat healthy and keep my calories in check for the entire day, but all other days, I've ended up bingeing in the evening. Yesterday, I did NOT. Yay! Getting thru a day where I was in control and not my sugar-craving self was wonderful! Happy Sunday everyone, and for those who watch - football!!
01/23 - 177.2 (weighed later than my normal time) - Second day on track. Need to up the amount of water I'm drinking - only drank a little over 40oz each of the last 2 days. I rode the stationary bike yesterday for a whole 10 mins, but you have to start somewhere. I haven't exercised since my surgery in June. My exercise today is snow shoveling. I shoveled once already and another round is coming in this afternoon. We have a 600ft driveway (no, not shoveling it LOL). We have a plow but there are all the side doors, sidewalk, getting out to my workshop, etc. I could use the snow blower but sometime it's easier just to grab a shovel and it burns lots of calories!
01/24 - 178.5 - Perfectly normal to fluctuate but too many carbs/salt doesn't help. I did not have any sugar or white flour yesterday, which is great. I am very happy about that! However, I'm trying to make up for the lack of these with too many other carbs. For some reason the carb I've chosen to eat too much of is grits. I haven't really eaten grits that often since I was a kid growing up in Georgia. I know it's just my body craving the white flour and sugar. I also have been adding too much salt. Recognizing I'm doing this is the first step, now I'll adjust. More snow shoveling today. Yay!
01/25 - 178.7 -
01/26 - DNW
01/27 - 178.5 - I thought I would be up after over indulging for my 26th wedding anniversary . It may catch up with me tomorrow. That's okay. What I'm proud of is that I still had no sugar/flour. I already don't eat hardly any processed foods, so to keep sugar in my life, it takes an effort from me to literally add it or to buy something sweet. I've had nothing sweet in my house for months except sugar. I had been adding way more than I want to admit to my hot tea that I would drink all day (I'm originally from the Georgia, where sweet tea is like syrup ). That stopped 6 days ago! The first days are the hardest, and I'm so glad to be past them. I love drinking hot tea in the winter. I need to slowly learn to enjoy it without sugar.
01/28 - 179.1 - Okay, anniversary is over even though I still ate more than I should have yesterday. I look at the days up to now as a short period of time of me watching what I'm eating more than how much. Now that I'm past the ultra-craving stage of no sugar/flour, it's time I work harder on the "how much" (calories, water, exercise). I haven't hit 80oz of water yet so today is the day. I've been shoveling snow, but today I start rowing again. And lastly, I'm shooting for 1200 to 1400 calories.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

Stayed within calorie budget and exercised. I am going to aim for consistency this round.
1/23: 172.8 lb
Achieved my goals for the day.
1/24: 173.0 lb
Stayed within calorie budget and exercised. Was an active day for me and I was a bit hungry during the day.
1/25: 173.0 lb
Why O why do I eat my children's leftovers? My youngest is the worst for leaving food on his plate. He eats like a bird - the occasional peck at his food then he moves on. I need to add a goal which is not to eat my children's leftovers and get him to sit at the table until dinner is done.
1/26: 173.3 lb
I have been naughty and have not been counting a vegetable stir fry I usually eat for lunch. I think that is the reason for my lack of progress. I will count it from now on and see what happens. I thought it was relatively benign. It has cauliflower, zucchini, mushrooms, onion, and bok choy. It will be interesting to see how many calories it comes to.
1/27: 172.0 lb
Well the "benign" stir fry turned out to be 100 calories per serve. So not insignificant. I will count it from now on and not treat it as a free pass. I think my consistency otherwise has lead to a drop finally showing up but I will wait to see how much of a bounce back I get tomorrow. Oh and I didn't eat my kids leftovers!
1/28: 172.0 lb
Surprised this weight stuck. I did not indulge in pizza night instead having a cauliflower stir fry. My DS made brioche though and I had 2 small slices. I don't know why he felt the need to spend a few days making it but he is already a better cook than me!

1/22: 131.3 - Iβm surprised it is not higher since Iβve had two late night binges in a row. I think the only saving grace calorie-wise is that on both days I ended up eating only one meal. Today Iβll go back to a more normal meal schedule.
1/23: 131 - My daughter stopped by on her way home (weβre about half-way on her 7+ hour drive) and took a bunch of the goodies that I had made for our dinner party with her.
1/24: 132.9 - Binged last night
1/25: 131.8 - Did better yesterday. I think it helped that all my meals were very vegetable-forward (less carbs)
1/26: 131.4 - Still too many sweets/carbs yesterday. Did not do my usual workout but got a hike in instead.
1/27: 131.4 - Ate better and got some extra walking in, but still need to lay off the after dinner eating.

Heaviest- 345+ lbs (my highest known weight prior to gastric bypass in Aug 2005)
Weight Aug 2006: 170 lbs.
Weight in Jan 2022: 219 lbs
Weight at beginning of 1st Round: 157.6 lbs
Current Weight- 156 lbs
Goal Weight- 150 lbs (TBD)*
This week's daily goals: 90 grams of protein, 8 cups fluid, iron/supplements, 10 mins meditation.**
1/22- 156.0 lbs, took iron, took supplements, 85 g protein, 7 cups fluid, forgot to meditate. I spent the entire day cleaning my apartment (other than a long dog walk).
1/23 β 156.4 lbs, took supplements but forgot about iron, 66 g protein, 7 cups of fluid and I forgot to mediate again. Feeling a bit discouraged.
1/24 β 155.2 lbs, took iron, took supplements, 65 g protein and 5 cups fluid. No meditation. Sheesh!
1/25 β 153.6 lbs, took iron, took supplements, 77 g protein, and 6 cups fluid. Again, shockingly, no meditation. I need to make a plan, man.
1/26 β 153 lbs, took iron, neglected to take supplements, 76 g protein, 8 cups fluid. I guess I shouldnβt have made meditation a challengeβ¦
1/27 β 152.8 lbs, took iron, took supplements, 108 g protein, 8 cups fluid. I keep NOT meditating, otherwise, I would have had a perfect day! Was super hungry today and ate ALL the things. Definitely pre-menstrual. I expect my weight will be up tomorrow.
1/28 β 151.4 lbs, took iron, took supplements, 69 g protein, 7 cups fluid, no meditation. So, my weight is not up, as expected. Weird. My weight has never been this low in my entire adult life. I had always been between 300-400 lbs since I was 13 (until gastric bypass at age 35). Since gastric bypass, I always seem to float between 170-220. (I did get to 163 in 2019 but maintained that for about 60 seconds.) That being said, I did walk 90K steps between Mon-Fri, last week. (Very energetic dog!) Anyhow, a bit confused as to what I should set my βgoal weightβ to. And what I can actually maintain. I really donβt want to go up to 220 again. There has to be a way. Open to any suggestions or advice. π

1/22 116.3 Down 500g from yesterday so very happy.
1/23 116.2 Great to have a loss no matter how much. Sticking to kilojoule allowance but having a rest day from exercise as back a little sore.
1/24 116.2 No change but yesterday I was under my kjs so hopefully itβll change tomorrow. Today I will be doing a lot of steps.
1/25 116.2 Yesterday I only ate half my exercise back. Iβll try to do some rowing today.
1/26 116.2 Getting a bit frustrated with weight not changing though I know it will probably have a drop soon. Did row yesterday and only ate a 1/3 back. Will row again today.
1/27 116.2 Checked my scale is not broken. Still behaving and rowing.
1/28 115.9 Lost 300g; I was hoping for 500 but its better than none. Expect to do lots of steps today.
