💕How did January treat you and how have you been treating yourself? Are there any new resolutions you've added on or any that you've set aside because they just weren't working?
I haven’t added any new resolutions but I did finish the devotional bible study Taste For Truth by Barb Raveling. It really pushed me to look at and examine my boundaries with food. Especially, if I have boundaries but break them every time it’s a “special occasion” are they REALLY boundaries or just guidelines? I can say that even while on our mini-vacation I stayed in my boundaries. Since we all felt so beat up (in a good way that we needed) we’re all starting Freedom From Emotional Eating by the same person today. Sometimes we need some hard truth or someone to give us some tough love.
💕What good things have happened to you so far in 2023? And what's one way you've made yourself proud?
Really, it’s the same answer as the first question. The good things have been celebrating my daughter’s birthday, little gatherings with friends, our monthly movie nights… and staying in my boundaries for all of it without feeling deprived. It’s all good and it’s all something I’m proud of for accomplishing. Having a long stretch of staying on track feels like a huge accomplishment.
Quick bit about me for anyone new to this group.... I'm happily married to my best friend and we have a 9 year old daughter. I have PCOS and I'm diet / exercise controlled type 2 diabetic. I love food and actually write a recipe blog as well as run a Facebook and Instagram page with what I'm eating, making, recipes and food reviews. It doens't have a huge following but it keeps me accountable. I think my last blog post had a total of 30 views.... so it's very small. Maybe one day I'll be discovered... but probably not. Until then I'll keep my day job. I do accounts receivable which really means I do business to business collections and account reconcilliation. Trying to find out why someone hasn't paid or why they shorted something. So glamourous, I know. I'm originally from Maryland but moved to South Carolina back in 2017 so if someone says crab cake and they aren't from my home state I give a hard pass. I work from home so I try to get out to things whenever I'm able. That includes church functions, trivia night at a local tea shop, Zumba class at the gym and play dates with my daughter's friends parents or whatever else fits onto the calendar.
The other day I was feeling discouraged. Someone took a photo and I was the largest person in it... both height and width. I'm 5'7" and I think over half my friends are 5'3" and below. Ugh! I did a side by side from 15 years ago when I first started questioning my health to the other day. Obviously there were a lot of ups and downs for that 15 years but I stopped feeling discouraged and started feeling pretty good about where I am now after the side by side.

Hi! Posting a little introduction. My name is Bonnie. I’m 34. Dog mom to a Chiweenie (chihuahua/dachshund mix). I deal with chronic illness and pain and have since I was a child. Lately injuries due to my chronic illness have limited me physically. So most of my focus is on my diet but I’m trying to do at home physical therapy exercises that I was doing in PT.

January was good. I lost 7+ pounds total (some loss was regained water weight). I haven’t made formal goals for 2023 yet but some have come to mind. I just want to continue focusing on getting healthier.
Good things that have happened so far in 2023 I would say getting back into nightly reading most nights and finding some contentment.
Goals for February:

💕What am I proud of? I'm proud that I preserved through being sick and also injured for most of January while keeping my eating under control. I tend to go off the rails if one part of my health plan falls apart, and while I did tend to eat a few hundred extra calories here and there, I kept it together.
January was a bit rocky for me health-wise and I only got to the gym 7 out of my scheduled 15 times. I'm not supposed to go to the pool until at least next week, so I've really gotta try to hustle to make 15 trips in the shortest month of the year; if I can do 12, I'll be happy. On the plus side, I still managed to lose 5lbs in Jan without too much exercising, so that was beneficial.
My hope for February is that my doctors figure out what's wrong with me (I went to one ENT, but now I'm scheduled to see a different type of ENT later in the month).
💕Have any of my resolutions changed? My 6 Month Resolution (November 1st to May 1st) is to lower my cholesterol though diet and exercise and that's still my focus. I am trying to lose weight, obviously, but the commitment I've made to myself is that my cholesterol numbers go down.
Losing 5lbs to 8lbs a month would be ideal (in my head), but the thing that keeps me motivated regardless of what the scale says is getting back a great result on my blood test in the spring. Although being able to brag to my doctor, "I've lost 40-50lbs in six months!!!" is also really motivating. 😆😆😆

Hello! I'm Kelli. 46 yo mom of 4+1 (one of my boys got married last year). I work full time as a pediatric home health nurse, usually 3 12 hrs shifts a week. I'm a serial diet starter, but this is the longest I've stuck with it..even with kinda taking the holidays off. I started last April at 282 lbs, now at 252. My husband and 2 of our kids and I do martial arts together. I do 2 classes a week and started doing yoga on 1 other day of the week.
💕How did January treat you and how have you been treating yourself? I started January 6lbs up from my lowest weight before the holidays. My goal was to lose that weight. I ended up losing 8 lbs, finally breaking through the 254 plateau I hit last fall.
Are there any new resolutions you've added on or any that you've set aside because they just weren't working?
I've added doing yoga 1 day a week to help with my balance and flexibility for my martial arts. Hoping to be able to retest for black belt in May. I just do a 30 minute yoga for beginner video I find on YouTube. Also bought me a new fitbit and use that to get more steps in during the day.

1. Broke through my plateau I hit last fall
2. Went clothes shopping and I was able to shop in the regular size area and not the plus size! Can fit into XL clothes now!

I've just restarted my weight loss journey. I hope to have the same success you all have shown through your hard work.
I'm attacking this weight loss journey through diet and exercise. I'm strength training 3 days a week and doing cardio 3 days a week. It seems like a lot right now, but I'm hoping over the course of 12 weeks (The Body for Life challenge is 12 weeks) I will get used to it.

GW - 200 is my first goal.
I have been up and down between 200-260 since the birth of my last child 14 years ago. Before that I was always under 200. I have had a hard few years with a lot of life changes. I had an open hysterectomy in spring 2021 following years dealing with grapefruit size fibroids and adenomyosis. I am often short on time and end up eating out/not making good food choices. I did a kickboxing challenge fall 2021 into spring 2022, was doing good and loved this but was unable to continue and not able to resume. I was down to the 220's but am now back to the 250's. I'm tired of being tired. I have stress that is out of my control and need to move to exercise vs food to deal with this.
💕What good things have happened to you so far in 2023? How did January treat you and how have you been treating yourself? I have been working towards more fruits and veggies. Unfortunately, my stress has increased the last two months, situations out of my control. And what's one way you've made yourself proud? Me accepting that I can not control current situations - only my response to the situation (ie exercise vs stress eating) is huge for me. I got my very own freestanding bag for kickboxing, the handful of times I have used it I love it.
Are there any new resolutions you've added on or any that you've set aside because they just weren't working? New is to start tracking food. Why I am back on myfitnesspal and now here.

I've held steady this past month weight-wise, so I'm stepping it up so that I can fulfill my pledge to you all to lose 30 pounds this year.
Keeping calories to 1200 and total carbs to 50 grams each day usually works for me.

Thanks 😊.....for me it's just finding out what works with my body and schedule. Everyone's body is different so it's finding out what works the best for yours. For me it's higher protein meals...but not keto. I do a higher protein breakfast...eggs, breakfast tacos, protein smoothies, protein pancakes and what I call my protein oatmeal. This keeps me full until lunch.
I do higher proteins of chicken, turkey, etc and not too much red meat or a lot of sodium since I also have high blood pressure. I've also been trying to not do so much refined sugars. I like the Fiber One chocolate brownie, only 2 gm of sugar and I get fiber..and chocolate! 😏 I've also cut out fast food and sodas. I drink a lot of flavored sparkling water.4 -

💕How did January treat you and how have you been treating yourself? January was good for me weight-wise; I lost 8 pounds. The slower pace and lower expectations of January was very good for me. I have become more accepting of my limitations and am not on the emotional rollercoaster that I have been. I have tried to extend the grace to myself that I would extend to others if they were in the same situation.
Are there any new resolutions you've added on or any that you've set aside because they just weren't working? What I would like to look at in February is eating more vegetables. I'm not a specific plan other than watching the amount of carbs I take in. In January, I at least made a step to BUY more vegetables. Now the goal is to actually cook them before going bad 🙄😂2 -

January was ok. I was a little disappointed in my lack of motivation but I started February our strong! My average steps per day in January were about 600. I have done over 10k everyday this week so far so that makes me happy! Thank you treadmill! No new resolutions and I have not put any aside. Still focusing on my physical and mental health but not putting too much on me and keeping goals small and celebrate when I exceed them, like my steps. My goal was 5000 steps a day but have done 10000 so I am pretty happy with that!

My husband and I had a difficult December and in January I told him that if things didn't change I would be filing for divorce as I couldn't do it anymore. We had a long talk about everything that wasn't working. I am happy to say for three weeks now things have been going very well and I am hopeful for the future. Nothing bad happened, we were just growing apart so we are working on discovering who we are now. We have been together for 18 years, so it is worth fighting for.
I do get discouraged with the lack of movement on the scale. But I keep telling myself it takes time and just keep moving forward. I am excited to see what happens in February. I have tracked everyday and staying within my calorie goals!

Hey, y’all! I’m new here. I’m Cyn. I’m 32 from Missouri. I am mom to a 10 year old daughter and my incredible boyfriend brought an 8 year old bonus son. At my highest I was 300lbs in 2020. It was a rough time in my life. In the last couple years I have completely rehauled my life - it’s time to focus on my health. I started February at 278 lbs.

January went well! I finally got myself on track about halfway through and managed to lose 10 lbs. I have a goal to lose 30 lbs total by the end of May.

I am very proud of my self control these past few weeks. I have been tracking truthfully and resisting *most* of my boredom cravings.4 -
Good morning all!!!!
I'm so glad it's Friday. I feel like this week has both dragged and flown by at the same time. Kind of exhausting. Thankfully, tonight we have zero plans and dinner will be leftovers. I can relax! Tomorrow my daughter has a basketball game in the morning, then I'm going with some book club ladies to a vintage book swap and book sale being held at a local brewery. I'll get rid of books I don't want any longer, pick up books I want to read and have an adult beverage with book friends. Ahhh. I can't wait. On Sunday I have toddler nursery during church but then no other plans for Sunday either. I know next weekend is going to be crazy so I'm really looking forward to so little this week.
Last night I got to my Zumba class and it is with the teacher who is like a gazelle. All legs and arms and able to jump and run and move with super high intensity. I might have to modify half of her class but it's a serious workout.
On the diabetic front.... my fasting blood sugar has remained below 100 for 3 weeks!!! There was 1 day it was 104 and 1 day it was 100 and all other days I've been in the 90s. After years of working on it and especially hard the past year I'm still in shock. Until now I've never seen fasting numbers below 100 and now it's the new normal. All diet and exercise, no meds. I kind of can't wait to see the doctor in May and see what she has to say.

@campbjp1 They say if you do something constantly for at least 6 weeks it will become a habit. I hope that is the case for your strength and cardio plan! I hope you succeed in all your goals.
@Formenik Stress eating is a hard habit to kick. It’s actually why I’m doing the bible study I am now… Freedom From Emotional Eating. I hope your distraction with exercise instead of food helps. I do find that the move active I am the less time I have to snack and just being busy helps keep me away from a lot of my trigger foods.
@tahitig Thanks! If I can drop just 11 more lbs I’ll be at my previous low from a few years ago. I’m only 26 lbs from my big goal… which is to be firmly “overweight.” I am supposedly no longer “obese” at 190 but I want that 10 lb window so any fluctuations still keep me in overweight. I know with my health stuff I may never be “normal BMI” but I told my doctor I’m determined to get to overweight only this year. I think I can do it and stay there.
Also, I miss @CupcakeCrusoe too! I wish she would check in. I loved all her updates and tag parties.
@pdd1216 I try to incorporate veggies into my meals even if they don’t normally call for veggies. Like sneaking them in for a child. Make a protein shake in the blender, add a handful of spinach or kale. Make taco meat, add tomatoes, peppers and onion to the mix. Making a lasagna dish, shred zucchini and add it to the meat or sauce layers. If you go back through previous months or onto my blog at all you’ll see I tend to put veggies in a lot of things where they aren’t normally. That way I’m not making a special side dish of veggies so much as just incorporating them into everything I already make.

Thank you! I'm nervous going into this weekend... I am fighting some sort of cough. It's not COVID, but I've been struggling this week. Now we're going into the weekend and I am not going to be very active.... and I'll be home with all my treats. I will do my best to stay motivated and give my body time to heal.3

We are going to dinner with friends tonight. I don't get out much so I'm very happy to see humans! I'm not as excited about sushi but will make the best of it. My husband is going to a basketball game tomorrow so I think I'll treat myself to a pedi. No plans for Sunday but hoping that we will get to see two of our grandkids.

Good morning everyone! Up early this morning..getting ready for an all day (10 am to 4 pm) martial arts clinic. Not sure how I will track the exercise in the app. Didn't eat the best yesterday because I wanted to fuel up for today. From what I was told, we aren't stopping for lunch but will have snack breaks throughout the day. Bringing some protein bars because I'm not sure what snacks they will have to offer. We will see how sore I'll be in the morning...maybe I should premedicate with some Aleve too.2

@pamperedlinny I’m still helping with my nephews but now they’re more independent and also go to an after school program most days. So much less than I used to but I still help before school or when they stay home sick from school.1

Well..I survived the clinic....I did have to sit out for about 20 minutes because I felt light-headed. Probably a little dehydrated at the time. Not as sore as I thought I would be, but taking it easy today.4

January went well. I have worked on giving myself a break and not being highly critical. I haven’t put any resolutions aside but I need to recommit to ensuring they happen.

So far I’ve progressed in my recovery. I’ve increased my efforts to exercise daily. I’m proud of how my weight loss has impacted my ability to move. I love forward to more loss and progress 😊

Well I made it through the weekend... 2 lbs heavier. I really enjoyed date day on Saturday. I was under calories after a 4 mile hike, but that chicken fried chicken still showed up on the scale. It was worth it. This is a lifestyle change - so moderation. I am eating much better overall. I'm not going to beat myself up for enjoying a date with some fried foods. But - I am ready to see 275.6

Hey all! Had a busy weekend including bowling with friends and kids Friday night, followed by hanging for whine & wine with that friend (drink some wine while spilling the tea on things in life), then saw book club friends at Brewery hosted Book Swap and went to lunch with them. I stayed within my calories for everything and that feels amazing. As long as I've been on this journey I've always allowed myself a cheat meal, special occasions, etc at least once a month. Sometimes once a week. Then I've justified doing it more. Of course that leads to the slippery slope of cheating a lot. I haven't had any days where I've thrown caution to the wind since January 1.
This week is really going to test those boundaries though since I have stuff every day. Tonight I have my neighborhood book club. I put together a little charcuterie board so that I know exactly how many calories all of those snacks will be. The host said the meeting this month is "Tea Themed" so we'll have hot and iced tea options. I love that. She's having veggies and dips. I love that I can grab a veggie though I don't know what kind of dip she will have. One of the other ladies is bringing homemade apple bread. That starts making it dangerous territory. Don't know what anyone else is bringing either. So far today I've only eaten 648 calories. Since we meet around dinner time I'll just make anything I eat there my "dinner" so I keep in my boundaries.

Hello, hello.
Well, I was hoping to go back into the pool this week, but I just got back from the doctor who said to wait a week. The good news is, he's taken me off the steriod I was on. It made me SOOOOOO hungry, I couldn't handle it and just ate everything in sight.
This week, I'm going to try to get my cravings back on track and just log all my food.4 -
Well, I had a whole response drafted and lost it so everyone....Keep on keeping on! Progress isn't linear, we just gotta keep on trying again each day. I'm grateful for the support I find here!
My weekend was good. It was as close to normal as I have felt in a while. We got out for dinner on Friday night with friends and a neighbor had us over for chili on Sunday. It was the most socializing I have been able to do physically in a while. Today is a good day...warmer weather makes a ton of difference physically and mentally!6 -
Hi all. My husband was admitted to the hospital for his A Fib yesterday. They are doing a procedure this morning and I have zero clue if he's coming home today, tomorrow, Friday, or what. It keeps changing. This was unexpected and I'm pretty freaked, frazzled and trying to hold it together for our 9 year old daughter. If I go radio silent it's because I'm losing it. If I end up posting constantly it's for the distraction. I really don't know which way my brain is going to go. I'm just kind of holding myself together with duct tape and prayer today.12

I'm Tiffany and I am 35 years old, I am restarting my health journey. I actually started last week, but I did not weigh myself, calorie count, or do anything of that, my before picture was taken a few days ago. I've been overweight most of my adult life once I got out of the Navy, and even in my weight was always an issue, I had trouble with weight ins because of that. Even though at the time I never had an issue with the exercise part (I do now due to a bad knee I injured twice but 🤷♀️). I went vegan 7/8ish years ago, and I quit soda 7/6 years ago. I think one of the things a lot of people don't talk about is how those of us who are short, the weight look like it's so much more on them.
A few months ago I went to take care of my twin when she had surgery, and the airplane seat belts on 2 of the flights were me squeezing in them, the seats felt too small (I wasn't techinically too small, but I felt like it), and I would bump people with my hips going down the aile. I tried to put that out of my mind, but could when in over half a year I will be on a plane again.
My goal isn't to be skinny, it's to be healthly, I'm tried of feeling tried, I'm tried of being winded walking to the mailbox, and I want to be able to do things without feeling like my weight is holding me back. I'm very into the fat postive and body postive movments, and my other goal is to continue loving myself, and that is another reason I want to be healthly, it's so I am treating my body well.8 -

One of the most popular blogs on MFP a while back was The_Movie_Chair, about a woman who didn't like the awkward way she felt when she sat in a chair at the movies, and her friends were wondering if they should leave a space in between or not in the theater. That night at the movies inspired her to lose more than 100 pounds over the next two years, and she wrote about the experience with honesty and humor in a blog called The_Movie_Chair. There was no self incrimination (and no excuses) that she couldn't even walk around the block at first, only a burning desire to get healthier, have more energy, and to fit smoothly into the theater chair when she went to the movies with her friends.
Your post reminded me of her -- the same candor and motivation for all the right reasons.

@coffeeandtruecrime I have a lot of the same problems. I'm currently about 275 lbs at 5'4''. I have been practicing self care, self love, AND trying to become healthier. Flying gives me terrible anxiety just for being able to fit. Recently, I paid $40 for priority boarding just so I didn't have to walk down a long aisle of people and would be able to secure a window to smoosh myself into. I get it. I also love roller coasters and can't fit into most. It is SO EMBARASSING! I hope we can support each other through this journey. I sent you a friend request.5

Good morning, all.
I have had my wake up call.
Just finished a two-hour letter writing session to God in my journal about my health. It is 5:00am here.
I have been recently diagnosed with all the earmarks of prediabetes, and start Ozempic on Monday, after my insurance denied me Mounjero.
I am miserable and am tired of starting over. I am tired of my “just this once” excuses to repeatedly make myself ill for a moment of taste satisfaction.
My body tells me what it thrives on, and what makes it sick. I just have refused to listen up to this point.
My asthma has worsened to the point I now have a steady wheeze even at rest.
I just read the clinical summary note from my nurse practitioner at the Bariatric Institute. How my insurance denied my request for Mounjero I have no clue. But I have reset my MFP goals to reflect her recommendations, and start a new journey today, the first day of my new life.
