I canโt stop my sugar cravings at night and I canโt sleep early due to child care. Any advice would be great ๐
If fruit doesn't scratch that sugar itch for you, I recommend dark chocolate covered almonds. If you stick to the portion size, you get a sweet treat with a little added protein. Another option I find helpful is a cup of hot tea, something calming/decaffeinated such as chamomile, with a teaspoon of honey to sweeten it. Added bonus of helping with hydration and sleep. Good luck! Brushing your teeth to cue yourself that your done eating for the night is great advice also!!
Great tips. I'm working on no added sugar right now to combat my cravings too. Things I've found helpful:
dates, apricots, mango slices (any fruit dried or dehydrated) make sure it doesn't have added sugar in it
chai tea or other flavorful tea
No artificial sweeteners (it intensifies cravings)
Sweet potato fries made in the air fryer (just toss in olive oil and salt)
Magnesium (I use natural calm and sip throughout the day)
Dark chocolate 95% lindt
Plain unsweetened Greek yogurt or kefir with frozen blueberries (imitation frozen yogurt)
After a few days of this I found my sweet tooth getting milder and milder. Now it's been 16 days of no added sugar for me and I've completely lost interest in the old culprits.6 -

Found out last week that I have gallstones, including one that's impacted and partially blocking a duct...surgery ahead, but for now it really focused my attention on getting as much fat out of my diet as possible. I even ordered the cutest little Vortex 1-serving air fryer, only $39.00 and in a happy pale blue color. Today I plan to christen it with mushrooms, brussel sprouts, asparagus, and green beans!
Then tomorrow I undergo a previously scheduled heart procedure (cardioversion, to get my heart out of the afib it began 4 weeks ago) so...it feels like a lot all at once. I doubt I'll hit my weight loss goal this month, but I will consider it a big achievement if I just continue to avoid stress eating and alcohol. So far, so good

Hi. I normally eat really low carb. Visited my mum, ate carbs and gained 10lb. Stopped the carbs and lost the 10lb again. Its just water weight. This last week I've been super strict on my diet, and doing an average of 10,000 steps a day. Having a real hard push to finally get to my goal before my 60th birthday in April!
Stick with it! It's taken me 20 months but so worth it6 -

My name is Donna. I am 62 years old and I live in Michigan USA. I am 5โ 5โ tall.
Start Weight (from January 31, 2022 ): 194.8
Goal Weight: 189.8 (5 pound loss)
End of Challenge Weight: xxxxx
Ultimate Goal Weight: 145-155 (Iโll know it when I get there!)
Weight in blue makes me blue because itโs a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because itโs a loss. Weight in black means no change.
02/01-194.6-(Trend Weight: 196.7)- Itโs a short month but I will not lower my expectations for myself. I want the next five pounds gone! That would literally be finding me dipping my smallest pinkie toe into the warm welcoming waters of the 180โs (189.8). What a dream! Itโs sink or swim!
02/07-196.6-(Trend Weight: 196.6)- Iโve been so back and forth this week and affected by travel. Iโm just not doing any better on my choices in that department (in most cases). The required restaurants are just my weakness that I canโt seem to master most of the time. Iโm a work in progress, even after all these years. The proโฆ..My trend weight is down a touch so Iโm hopeful. Trendweight.com is also continuing to show my date to reach my goal weight getting better and better. Now, if I could just have the same faith in myself that it has in me based on my patterns!
02/14-193.8-(Trend Weight: 195.0)- It has been a very good week for me until last night. This weight reflects a good sized bump up after some self-sabotage. Saw a diabetic specialist yesterday and then spent the night doing exactly the opposite of everything they told me. I donโt know why I do this to myself but today and tomorrow will be redemption days. Iโm proud of my progress so far and got to keep this engine rolling! It is not just a vanity thing at this point. My health really depends on it at this point.
02/21-192.4-(Trend Weight: 194.8)- After seeing the endo, I saw a dietician this past week who pumped my carbs up from 90 to 190-250. I tried it for 4 days, gained several pounds and my fasting sugar shot up to almost 300 (mine had been running 130-150.) Glucose is not a wait and see. It will IMMEDIATELY tell you if what you are eating is good or bad. I did give it the 4 days, then I promptly put myself back on my own plan that I had carefully crafted after much research and reading. My weight is going back down and so are my glucose numbers. I donโt think Iโm going back to the dietician although quite a few sessions are expected. Dieticians are there because there is no one-size-fits-all with people. It is individualized. I tried to talk to her about my aversions with so many foods, my eating disorders, my insulin resistance after being diabetic for over 15 years, what my other doctors have been suggesting and she just didnโt hear me. I knew the increased carbs were suicide for me. I only stuck to it for a few days to prove it. My endocrinologist is giving me 90 days to show better glucose numbers on my meter or heโs putting me on insulin. I couldnโt let this dietician do this when my bodyโs response was horrid. No time to waste.
02/28-xxxxx-(Trend Weight: xxxxx)-
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!
