why does it seem like dinner takes so much longer to cook when you are hungry?!?!
A bit early to be cooking but I am ready to eat now.
I have a huge salmon half in the oven, asparagus in the microwave ready to steam, rice in the rice cooker for dh and a huge salad ready for me.
I am trying to make some cream of asparagus soup with the trimmings. Will see how that turns out- hate throwing away so much after snapping the ends off.
Just started tracking my food again today after a few weeks off.
Back to two nights of zumba so maybe the weight will start going down. Went down 3 1/2 pounds last week but that was when I had the flu- 2 are back.

Nanerkay glad your leg is doing better. Those stairs are such a test each time!

Thank you all for the heartfelt condolences. I appreciate these very much.
Somehow the Celebration of Life got set for Saturday March 11, 2023 outside of Boston. This is a little sooner than I had anticipated, but it will be good for the family to be together. This will be a family ceremony of about 30 people.
Followed by lunch at an historical Inn where we will be staying. I am not looking forward to the travel. It is rather soon to fly and will be cold! I have a jacket on order from North Style to arrive tomorrow. I hope it fits!
I do have bursts of tears and will be joining a bereavement group. Most people have been very caring and interested in my husband and the obituary. This has been wonderful. Several friends from high school have been in contact. Unfortunately, a friend I considered a close friend here has not handled this so well. I went to visit her on Saturday and she was pre-occupied with the fact that her Internet was out. She was calling AT&T with me sitting there as a new widow. I left. Later she reminded me she had been a widow for 2 years. I have been a widow 6 days....she was fairly rude. But everyone else has been caring and sympathetic and I appreciate all their kind thoughts.
I am still not exercising...still tired...but I have put together a eulogy....and my son will give a eulogy and 4 people from the family will do readings...so I have an Order of Service put together. 3 high school friends will come to the Inn for dinner on Saturday evening.
I guess I'm rambling. I hope you are all well. Loved seeing Miles with the snowman and Heather I know you will get that scene from your bedroom window just the way you want it! Lanette..thank you for the poem. I do have regrets and they could turn into self pity. This is why I will do a bereavement group.
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia
So sorry for your loss of your husband. I'll pray for you and your family.0 -
I eat real fast I'm trying to slow down does anyone have any tips.1

Well, we met my friend from college. She’s looking good. I probably won’t log today, but I was careful about what I got. I had a lobster crab cake (actually, two) but sauteed instead of fried. Vegetables (I did ask for no butter, but I think they had it, just not a lot), rice (hey, better than french fries!) and just water to drink. Did have a few bites of the key lime pie we all shared and had to try some of the pineapple bread (you really couldn’t taste the pineapple). I’m thinking that since we ate so late, maybe we’ll go out for an ice cream. Good thing I went for the walk this morning!
Rosemarie – BIG BIG HUGS
nanerkay – I have the same problem – eating too fast. I am trying more and more to take smaller bites and to try putting my fork down for a few seconds.

I really like my biochemic phosphate but will need to try something else as they have discontinued it and the one that the company suggested I try was out of stock when I checked. I do have another one to try when I do run out. This one works so fast and no side effects in the morning.
I tracked down the biochemic phosphate (Schuessler Tissue Salts) and it might be helping me too.dlfk202000 wrote: »Thankfully I have the guard inside the mask that keeps it off my face a little. I know how you feel. My nose is both very sensitive and in places, it doesn't have feeling. It is still a little puffy in one spot.

For the newcomers and those of us who have been here a while ... what is your favourite sport or exercise.
For example ...
My favourite is front and centre there ... Cycling!
But I like a lot of the other choices:
Walking
Hiking
Running
Canoeing
Rowing
Pilates
Weightlifting
I used to enjoy these and could see myself doing them again:
Badminton
Snowshoeing
Cross Country Skiing
Yoga
I'd like to try ... these are on that 50-Things list I mentioned a couple days ago:
Archery
Horse riding
Fencing
Dancing
Duathlon
Rock Climbing
Orienteering
And you?

PS. Looks like I missed 'swimming' from that word cloud! My husband used to enjoy swimming and I used to paddle about, but we're not sure how he would go with that now.3 -

I was wondering how yours was healing. I know your procedure was a little different than mine. The skin graft site is healing but still a bit sensitive. The spot on my nose doesn't look too bad but like you, it doesn't feel right.
Have you heard how long it will take to feel "normal?"

A year, apparently.
That's from a couple other people I know who had the same or similar procedures. And from my doctor.

I haven't found a good fit yet, but I do get to play a certain piano in a shopping area that's fairly in tune. That is good for my hands. Don't know how many years I have to play so taking advantage of that. I might join a church as that is a great place to sing. Not too keen on the religious aspect, but I take away from a church setting a sense of peace. That's universal.💖

I had a good day today. Our daughter brought a box of my clothes. She packed them up for me while she and our son emptied our Oregon home. There is a truckload of our things on their way. I anticipate many more boxes of all sorts of things. The house in Oregon is ready for new owners, and they are longtime friends of ours.
There will be a truck coming our way with our furniture and other items. When the truck arrives our furniture will be welcomed. Much will be put in safe storage, but I am going to have some of the furniture brought directly to me.

Pip, cute set up! I assume you're all camping again.
Heather, painting of what you see out your window looks great! Extension of son's house does look massive! It will be interesting to see the final result. Nice that they found an enjoyable place to rent while the reno is being done.
Katla, happy to see that you have found yourself! lol It's nice that your kids are bringing your stuff out, I'm sure you will be more comfortable with some of your favourites around you.
Rosemarie, that friend is certainly no friend! You'd think she'd be a little more sympathetic given as how she went thru the loss of her hubby not so long ago.
Rebecca, {{{HUGS}}}, too bad that your mom's group isn't more sympathetic to your pain/grief. Perhaps you could have worded your response to the lady who hadn't heard from her son in a week a bit more differently, something like "I feel your pain, it's been several months for me" or words to that effect, but.... Do feel free to vent here, you know we'll be sympathetic! I sure do wish someone would give that boy a good kick in the backside, surely he must realize what he's putting his momma thru!
I'm sure there were more comments that I wanted to make, but once again, the memory fails.
I have been doing better with my eating in March, sticking to just three meals and no snacking, that seems to be what works best for me. I've thrown myself headlong into a few craft projects, one of which involves being on a level without the kitchen. It's amazing how easy it is to not snack when it would involve going down the stairs and purposefully getting food! I do have to be careful with what I'm doing tho, it involves sewing and I don't do well with that when I get frustrated so I need to remember to stop when things start going wrong and then just go back later or the next day. So far, it's going well and it sure does make the time fly by!
It's getting late, I must make my way to the shower and then to bed!
Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!!

You would expect to struggle with sleep the first week or so after quitting cold turkey. They don't usually recommend quitting most medications cold turkey.

It takes a long time for nerves to heal and for scars to settle and turn white.
My doctor has told me to keep massaging it with Vit E lotion.

Are there any "glee clubs" or similar in your area?

Monday 6 March!
It's March 6 and I've walked 23 km this month already.
I've also cycled 64 km this month so far.

Well its 4 am and I am awake.
GrandMallie: maybe I should try some of your melatonin!
Machka: I might try pickleball at some point. I am okay at ping pong, but have not been good at tennis. But this is worth a try.
Heather: I like the paintings
I have been trying on black pants since I have gained 15 pounds since May. I might go to Chicos and get a pair of pants and hope they don't need to be hemmed! I sorted through my clothes to see what needs to be dry cleaned and what can be washed.
I took the suit case out to pack for the trip to Boston. It's March the weather could be anything.
GrandMallie: Aren't you near Boston? What do you think the weather will be like there this week end.
And I have to take the van to the airport. I am going to wear a mask to do this.
I will go get my nails done. I am not touching my hair. I will buy some calmer lip stick. What I have been wearing lately is a little loud!
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia (going to try going back to sleep!)10 -
Katla-I'm glad you are getting some of your belongings. Some of your own furniture will help wherever you are feel more like home.
Rosemarie-sleep will return to normal. You are dealing with a lot right now. I had difficulty at first also. Got it back to normal. Your body and mind will heal. Regarding lipstick-wear what you like! If loud is your normal-just be you.
Slept on new mattress last night. I believe it will be ok. Nice and firm. I still woke up several times but was able to drift back. Woke up at my usual 4:30. Oh well-as long as I keep up the same, next week it will be 5:30!
Busy week this week. Still a bit tired from Covid and if my sinuses ever drain completely it will be a miracle. One minute clear, the next completely stuffed. My son says some of his symptoms still come and go-not as bad but just a reminder that he isn't 100% yet. I've been using Muscinex but may switch to Sudafed to see if it helps. The beginning of spring stuff in the air also makes it interesting. However, all that said-I'm glad that's the worst I have to complain about today-so I will take it and run with it!
Have a good Monday,
Take care all,

Sleeplessness seems to be in the air! Perhaps it's the spring and the sap rising.
I had a terrible night. First, brain active (have to stop reading riveting books before bedtime), then legs aching, then indigestion . Then more brain activity. Finally dozed at 4 am, then awake at 6.20. Grrrrrr!
I'm not worried about anything. Actually, right now I feel fine, and I've done all my exercises and written 480 words, but I know it will catch up with me.
The riveting book is Queen Victoria, by Lucy Worsley. On offer on Amazon for 99p. I'm waiting for her biography of Agatha Christie to come down in price, so this was a good 'tideover'.
I do wish my legs would stop aching at night. Some nights are worse than others. The doctors are useless. I believe it could be my autoimmune syndrome, or the haemachromatosis. Ibuprofen gel helps, but I would prefer not to have to use it.
It doesn't bear any relation to how much exercise I've done, doesn't affect my strength or mobility, and it's mainly at night.
Otherwise, all is well, apart from needing to shed a few pounds! The good news is, I haven't put any weight on this year. The bad news is , I put on weight last year. Realistically I think I could lose 7 pounds before my cruise in June.
Just need to get into my cruise clothes.
Love you loads, Heather UK xxxxxxxx6 -

Could the aching legs be your mattress?
Or perhaps being low in magnesium?

Heather do you think it could be Restless Legs? There's no real test for that, but it is helped by taking more iron. It's something about the iron not crossing the blood brain barrier.
I'm off to my friend's house for a special meditation session with humming. It's a weird hobby, I know.
Katla glad you are getting your stuff back. It's part of who we are.
Good to see the husbands walking Yay!
Heather here's a thought about making the view from your window more abstract: I like the contrast of the soft tones of the sunrise with the energetic linear stabs of the plant foliage. The building behind it is distracting to me, so you could just leave it out. The white framing adds plenty of structure. Just a thought.
More hugs to Rosemarie.
