Hi everyone! I jumped on board yesterday in an effort to turn the pound gain around! The plan is to get out of the 140’s and back to the 130’s, and if the stars all align, hit my goal of 130 by the end of summer. My newest set back is a tweaked knee that is limiting my steps 🥲. I’m taking it easy in hopes that it will heal quicker. That being said, I am upping my exercise that doesn’t involve the legs, upping my water, and no snacking after dinner.
This Oregon girl can do this!

Since April, I have lost 7 lbs.
I fell sick in Feb-March and put on 6 lbs (because I was eating outside food, since I had no energy to cook at home).
Now, I have lost all those extra pounds and lost one more pound on top of that.
All because I decided to go back to the 70's diet. To eat what we used to eat at home.
I come from a rustic area, and our food was simple, home cooked, included seasonal fruits, vegetables, home made curd, butter, buttermilk, and clarified butter.
I am eating 6 times a day now, 3 meals and 3 snacks, of course with portion sizing.
I logged my meals to check they were within the stipulated calorie limit and they were. So, I continued with my new eating routine. No more outside food, I prepare simple meals at home now, which require minimum cooking.
I have been checking my weight regularly and it has been declining steadily.
Yesterday, I came across a very good discussion about why people were so thin in the 50s, 60s, and 70s and what were their typical diet during those decades.
https://www.quora.com/1970s-What-was-a-typical-day-of-eating-in-the-70s
I have benefited by going back to the old eating habits, and I will really recommend all those who want to lose weight, to read this article and think about going back to our old eating habits, the kind of food our parents were eating.6 -

For about 3 weeks, my feet, knees, & hips have been bothering me
During yesterday's dog walk I tried this glute squeeze it did seem to help.
Or maybe I'm on the mend 👏 He does have more videos worth watching

I'm definitely interested,I keep eating back all my calories from exercise, and yes it's not alway terrible because if I deduct the exercises my calorie in take is still low.
But I do need to seriously try harder now and as always it's the perfect time of year to do these things.
I'm prediabetic so I'm in need to get out of the range.
I do great and then go backwards, hormones aren't helping either.
I'm trying to get a regain off and it's driving me a little mad.
I work in care so my schedule is hectic some days.
I've got lots of vegetable plants at the moment and mending my greenhouse, they're all in cold frames right now.
I did walking for charity and that helped but I'm not walking so much as I'm sorting the garden and house out when I have spare time.3 -

@200Karen
Thank you and most welcome!
I often talk with my elder sister about the meals we used to eat in childhood and the kind of food mother used to cook, and we literally drool over those memories.
That inspired me to go back and start replicating my childhood meals. It helped me immediately with my digestion and weight loss.
And that made me search for 70's diet and I came across those beautiful meal-memories from the 70s, 60s, and 50s.
Life was so simpler then..4 -

@jyoti_0 Thank you for this most informative link about the portions/food of the 60's and 70's. I went down the rabbit hole and read a lot of the comments over there. Of course it makes sense: we ate at home, McDonalds was a special treat and then that would be a normal size hamburger and a small fries. No big Macs or super sized anything. Portion sizes were normal, not obscene like now.6

@jyoti_0 and @SunnyDays930 Loved the posts also on this. How true that portion sizes were a big factor. We had large families and the food had to go around! Also, a lot less processes foods I think in the 60's and 70's and what was out there was too expensive for many large families i.e. lots of home cooked meals. Many women were stay-at-home mom's back then. Thanks so much for sharing!6 -

Weight in blue makes me blue because it’s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because it’s a loss. Weight in black means no change.
05/01-193.0-(Trend Weight: 192.2)- Good luck to us all. I know I’m going to clearly need it!
05/02-193.6-(Trend Weight: 192.3)-
05/09-194.2-(Trend Weight: 193.3)- It’s my 63rd birthday tomorrow. I really wanted to give my body better health, a better weight, a better outlook. April was horrible and May has not went as well as I had hoped. I’m disappointed. I travel today for my 4 month dental cleanings for myself and son. We’ll have a late restaurant lunch and do some shopping while out of town. I’ll try to choose carefully. Tomorrow is an art gallery and concert at the high school my grandchildren attend. I’ll be spending the evening with them. So many foodie things this week!
05/16-193.6-(Trend Weight: 194.3)- The progress should have been much better but it was a foodie week. My Birthday, Mother’s Day and some general out-of-town travel. Hopefully this week will be better although I’m already on day 2 of travel.
05/23-197.0-(Trend Weight: 195.5)- I’ve really put some thought into this and decided it is a cross between laziness and depression. I just don’t feel like meal planning or cooking. I have a grab ‘n go mentality right now. When my depression sets in I really have a hard time following through with anything. No focus. Feet dragging the ground. A bit listless. I don’t have the energy to exercise, or plan, or research or do any of those things I normally do. I’ve really got to pull this together.
05/30-194.2-(Trend Weight: 194.8)- A nice improvement this week but it feels like I’m a million miles away from the 180’s and I touched down there and need to get back! Lots of work ahead of me but I feel up for it today now that all the nearby holidays and celebrations are over.

Finally down but will see if it stays off.
Think it is time to go see my doctor. I'm having such a hard time losing weight. It doesn't matter what I do or eat I seem to be yoyoing. I started working over a month ago and thought that would help. I eat very small lunch( usually just an Avocado or instant oatmeal)at work and when I get home I'm tired so I usually eat a small dinner.
I haven't been keeping track of my food so maybe that is the problem. I have noticed that I'm eating less now than I was a couple of months ago. I have cut way down on carbs and have added more veggies and salads to my meals.
I don't get much exercise in except the walking I do at work. I'm on my feet standing for 6hrs a day. I do an average of 5000 steps on the days I work and about 2500 when I'm at home.
I just need to get a routine and start exercising or walking more on my days off.
Have a great week everyone8 -
@Sistersue3285 The Wegovy/Ozempic is working for me. Ask your dr if it would be right for you but also check with your insurance as it is wildly expensive. It works by tricking your brain into making you feel full. This is no joke. I eat about 1/4 to 1/3 of what I used to need to make me feel full.4

@SunnyDays930 Thank you for taking the time out to read that article and other comments! I was really moved to read people talking about their diets in the 0s, 60s, and 50s from various parts of the world and sharing their memories. It was like a trip down memory lane. I'm now trying to continue with that simple meals routine, with occasional outside food thrown in.
@deepwoodslady thank you for sharing your family's memories. Yes, there was not so much processed food back then and meal portions were smaller. Sometimes I feel, people just didn't eat that much back then. At my home, everybody had a fixed diet. My mother knew who will eat exactly how much and food was prepared accordingly.
I guess we can learn something from those bygone decades.

I’m traveling about 70 miles each way to a new movie theater today to see The Little Mermaid. It’s much closer than where we usually need to go to see a movie. It’s supposed to be high-tech with the reclining seats and food trays. I can’t wait to see both the theater and the movie! I gotta watch that popcorn though!
