Me, too. I have to lose weight before I can properly exercise. My joints hurt a lot.

I'm cheering for both of you!

I arrived here almost 8 years ago, age 59, already with arthritis and a torn meniscus. Losing down to a healthy weight made a huge improvement, reducing discomfort from common/usual to occasional, and actual pain from frequent to quite rare. For me, it was a big deal! Now 67, and still a healthy weight, quality of life is better.

Another thing that helped, which I recommend if you have access, was to convince my doctor to refer me for physical therapy to learn how to walk and especially climb stairs in ways that would reduce the stress I put on the joints going forward.

Even early on, any achievable exercise is a good thing. Some things to consider are gentle yoga/stretching - whatever is achievable; walking if possible; and pool exercise or swimming if you have access to a pool, because the buoyance takes some weight off the joints; chair exercise videos. Some YMCAs/gyms/pools even have special classes for people with arthritis that are especially gentle.

Wishing you huge success - the results are worth it!

Good luck in your journey. It can get hard sometimes, set small goals and stick to them. Takes about 3 months to make a routine. Track all calories, eat when your body tells you, measure and weigh 1 a week. Post your results on myfitnesspal, helped me lose 50lbs.
