We need to be fed and watered - we are basically houseplants with complicated emotions, so complicated we spend huge amounts of time and effort trying to understand them when it is fine to just go "I am who I am and I am absolutely fine with that". No need for explanations. We don't ask a houseplant why it starts to wilt, we just do what we can to help2 -

How do you even measure that?
Scientists succeeded in slowing light down to 38 mph.
They did this by shooting a laser through extremely cold sodium atoms, which worked like “optical molasses” to slow the light down. The experiment doesn’t invent any new physics.1 -
