    -
6/21 140.8 (trend 142.3) Glad to see yesterday's new low weight is sticking around more or less. I've set my goal this round to maintain, but in reality I'll be glad if my trend weight doesn't go up. Didn't leave the house yesterday as I was packing and organising all day, plus, as musicsax mentioned, we had torrential rain for a large part of the day. Eating was ok, although there was a bit of stress-snacking going on, but I stayed below, just! Woke up relieved to see my fake tan hadn't been a disaster, phew! I'm a notorious over-packer and am now trying to decide whether I can fit the iron into my suitcase or if I can bear spending the next 9 days a crumply mess...
Having pizza tonight at a local restaurant, as it's the only place that will still be open when we get to the apartment, so I'll eat light today to allow for it. Old me would be looking forward to some fast food at the airport but I'm going to be good and bring a small snack instead.
Yesterday was no walk or gym, calories good, alcohol free.
    STEPS 5,001

6/22 DNW The pizza last night has left me very bloated and dehydrated today.
The flight was delayed so we ended up eating at 11.30pm which meant sleep was not great.
    STEPS 9,500

6/23 DNW We cycled to the fish market and bought prawns, clams and monkfish, then to the fruit and veg market and bought loads of stuff, the veggies here are massive! It was a good chance to practice my Portuguese. I made arroz de marisco, which is similar to paella, very tasty! I've never cleaned prawns or cooked clams before, so it was good to learn a new skill. In the evening we cycled to the beach and played frisbee, then to the marina for a few drinks. Lots of wine so a bit of a sore head today.
Steps were low as I was on the bike most of the day.
    STEPS 6,918

6/24 DNW We visited Portimão and did a walking tour then stopped for lunch, I had tuna salad. Picked up a watermelon and some sacks of oranges for juicing from a roadside vendor. Back at the apartment we went for a swim, then an evening walk and cocktails. We finished off the rice from yesterday for dinner.
    STEPS 10,361

6/25 DNW We drove to Tavira and did another walking tour. Lunch was cod and chickpea salad with egg, very high in protein! In the evening we went to a lovely restaurant between some cliffs, right on the ocean, it was idyllic. We shared grilled ocean perch and a bottle of wine, then back to the apartment for a game of cards and an early night.
    STEPS 9,040

6/26 DNW We spent the day on the beach, we had planned to go to a water park but decided we wanted rest rather than adrenalin! Lots of swimming and cycling low on steps as it's too hot at 34° for doing much walking. We took tuna salad sandwiches and watermelon for a packed lunch. In the evening we walked along the marina and had dinner at a restaurant in a small square, I had grilled sardines with boiled veggies and white wine.
    STEPS 5,635

6/27 DNW In the morning I cycled to the fish market and picked up a dourada fish, which I think is sea bream, and bought veggies and bread. OH was working all day so I pottered about and prepped dinner. We went for an evening bike ride to a nature reserve then back home had baked fish with garlic roasted potatoes, onions and green peppers, with steamed veggies. Steps are low again but I cycled for 2.5 hours.
    STEPS 4,651

6/28 DNW OH was working in the morning so I picked up some supplies for a packed lunch and made salted cod and chickpea pasta salad, which we took to Marinha beach with half a cantaloupe melon each and some cherries. Lots of swimming and sunbathing. After the beach we visited Albufeira and had a stroll about, looking at all the touristy stuff. Back home in Vilamoura, we went out for a late dinner at a tennis club and had pizza and sangria.
    STEPS 10,340

6/29 DNW OH was working all day so it was a quiet one. We went to the fish market at lunchtime and picked up ingredients for dinner- clams, prawns and mixed fish pieces for arroz de marisco again, but with a different recipe. I did a bit of swimming and sunbathing by the pool then in the evening we went to play mini golf again and went for a drive. Back home we ate on the balcony and played cards.
    STEPS 3,457

6/30 DNW We had leftovers for lunch then swam in the pool for a while. In the afternoon we went to the beach and swam in the sea then went jet skiing, which was incredible! In the evening we walked around the marina and had dinner at an Indian restaurant, I had chicken dahnsak and a naan bread, a high calorie meal but a treat for the last day. Back to the UK today so will be packing and tidying most of the day as our flight is at night. I feeling pretty fat today so I'll be glad to get back to my routine and start to get these extra pounds back off. Dreading the scale in the morning but no point hiding from it!
    STEPS 6,602

    STEPS 71,505/100,000 round goal

Yikes at the low steps this round! Maybe I'll try and make up the extra next round.

    Round 227
6/21 217.2. Thus continues the mysterious weight gain. I looked leaner in the mirror at yoga today, so pffft to the scale. Today is Summer Solstice & I had planned a 21 day fast. I think I have talked myself out of it since I am going through enough although it might be a good time to control something in my life. I guess I will see tomorrow lol
6/22 216.2. I decided not to fast. I feel it would add too much additional stress at this time. While I am not eating my feelings, I do need sleep & I also need to exercise. The days that I exercise I feel the fog lifting so I need to keep at it. Yesterday I took a 1hr sunrise walk & did 45 minutes of sun salutations before my 1 hour yoga class. It was supposed to be an easy Yin class, but it was not. I am sore today but will enjoy my morning walk & yoga.

6/23 215.8. I know a whoosh will happen any minute. My skin is lumpy in areas that I carry fat. I just have to be patient & resist the urge to go off track. My emotional brain is telling me to be kind to myself, splurge, indulge in comfort food, do some pampering. I know my ultimate goal is to lose weight & wear a size 6/8 again. I have lost my sense of urgency & I won’t punish myself & cancel my February cruise, but I am going to eat healthy & indulge in hot yoga & other forms of self care that will improve the way I feel more than any treat food will.
    6/24 DNW
    6/25 217.2
6/26 216.8 I am still working through my bio father discovery. My husband is very supportive. I bought a 3 month unlimited hot yoga pass because that helps me. I am also joining a women’s walking group. I tried to make it there this morning but it started to rain hard. I will be meeting my new half siblings in 3 weeks if all goes well. I haven’t decided if I will meet my bio father. I will ask him if he is interested in meeting me but the siblings are very excited. I find that I look like hell. I don’t know if it is depression or shock or all in my head, but hopefully that improves in the next little bit.
    6/27 215.8
6/28 216.2 I am basically maintaining this whole round, but that’s ok, it shows I am not using food or wine to mask & cope. I feel today that I am crawling out of the shock. I am happy about that, I popped into work to grab stuff to work at home after hot yoga. Life will get back to normal. I am glad I have the luxury & that I am taking the time to do the work needed to heal.
6/29 216.8. I am ready to get back at it. I have the exercise part but will now focus on food. I can easily lose 5-10lbs before I meet my new half siblings, so that’s what I’m gonna do’

6/30 217.6. Hmmmm. I thought I started dieting & eating low carb again yesterday. I have a lot of muscle soreness & I restarted my supplements. I suspect both of those things have increased my weight. I am up this round but expect some good progress next round.

Round 227: JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS

Hi, I’m Amanda, almost 50, wicked short 4’11” from New England.

DONE: My 1st goal is for mid-June (trip to LA/Vegas),
    2nd goal for mid-August.

    Appreciate all your support.

    - Pre-plan meals for the day
    - Daily movement
    - No Late Night Snacking

    Round 221 SW: 126.8
    Round 222 SW: 122.6 ⬇️ debloated 4.2#
    Round 223 SW: 121.0 ⬇️ 1.6#
    Round 224 SW: 118.8 ⬇️ 2.2#
    Round 225 SW: 117.0 ⬇️ 1.8#
    Round 225 EW: 114.8 ⬇️ 2.2#
    Round 226 – skipped – on vacation
    Round 227 SW: 121.0 ⬆️
    Round 227 EW: 114.8 ⬇️ 6.2# debloated from vacation

    6/21: DNW

    6/22: 121.0 ⬆️
Had the best time on my vacation/visit family trip.
It wasn’t about fitting in everything/seeing all the sights: it was a slower time for me to do what I enjoy and to see family that I haven’t seen in almost 10 years.

I was about 115 the morning of my flight.
Today is 121, so bloated and gained 6 pounds, which I will get rid of, plus a few more for my August birthday goal.

    6/23 – 118.8 ⬇️ debloated 2.2#
    Crossfit Farming!

    6/24 – 118.0 ⬇️
Went to my boss’s funeral, my amazing boss of 16 years.
His wife’s eulogy reminded us all to go out there and enjoy life. That’s what I intend to do!

    6/25 – 115.0 ⬇️
So I “lost” the 6# that I “gained” on my vacation (eating a lot of carbs/noodles/bread). My body is THIS sensitive to carbs.

Now that clothes are fitting better, I need to incorporate more weight training to manage all the flab.
But it’s been SOOOOOO humid here that all I want to do is sit in front of an air conditioner (I hate heat and stickiness).

    6/26 – 115.4 ⬆️
    Getting back to it!
After 4.5 months of daily movement, I took a few days off.
    But I'm coming back, baby!
Need to increase the Hip Thrust weight next time!!

    6/27 – 114.6 ⬇️
This is about the weight I like being at for my build/height.
I don’t know how realistic I can be about losing another 5# AND maintaining that.
BUT I would like to see how I’ll be when I get there (haven’t been lower than 112# (in 2020) since hitting puberty)

    6/28 – 114.8 ⬆️
I’ve got to stop eating peanuts and cashews. They’re so calorie-dense food that use up so much of my calories for the day.
There are so much food that I just want to eat; I’m not hungry though.

    6/29 – 114.6 ⬇️
Yup, wasted all my calories on peanuts and "cake-ball snacks" (they're not cake)
Ugh, leaving no calories left for dinner.
It was during the day, so it’s not LATE Night Snacking.
I just need to STOP snacking so I can eat real food!

    6/30 – 114.8 ⬆️
Crossfit Farming in this HUMID weather: I must have lost 5# through sweating. SOOOOO hot/humid, and then we picked cucumbers in the green house: that was like a freaking sauna!!!

    6’-2”
    OSW: 237.8 (Nov. 2016)
OGW: 199 (just to say I did)
    Maintenance Range Goal: 200-205

    Goals for this round:

    1. For 2023, avoid a repeat of 2022 lack of discipline.
    2. Stop whining.
    3. Log my food daily… That is how I lost my weight before.

    Round 227 Posts
    This is my posting format….

Month/Day: Scale Reading - First thing today after bathroom visit before getting dressed.
/ Logged Food; Exercise – yesterday / Comment

    Previous posts:

    6/20:
So, I am back with you after a brief hiatus. I hope you will take me back, even though for today I will break one of my goals and whine a bit.

Begin whine…These last three months have been less than stellar:

Both of my parents have had hospitalizations due to heart problems; one heart attack and one pacemaker installed. Car and keys have been taken away. They are back home but DW and I are now the chauffeurs to their multitude of appointments. Did I mention we moved them to another apartment while dad was in the nursing home getting rehab? I have put the Power of Attorney hat on.

As for my health, I am dealing with lymphedema in my left ankle (and some other places), likely due to lymph system interruption from my prostate cancer surgery in February. I suppose this affects my overall weight too. The good news is that the follow up after the surgery is showing that it was as successful as it could be.

So, I need to be back here to give me some motivation to take care of myself. I don’t like the way I feel right now… end whine.

    6/21: 223.6
/food logged; lots of functional movement, but no exercise per se/ amazing how food logging will deter some (but not all) hand to mouth mishaps and snaccidents.

Yesterday morning I took 2 pork shoulders off the smoker that had been cooking all night. Pulled and parsed it for sharing and storing for future use. The in-process quality assurance sampling amounted to my lunch.

Next two nights at a friend’s lake house. Could be dangerous. Won’t be able to weigh, but I can log.

    6/22 DNW
    6/23 DNW

    6/24: 226.4
    /nada; nada/
Last two or three days proved to be dangerous indeed. Back home now.

I did have fun with friends and fam and got a little fishing done. Part of the fun was hooking myself through the skin of my ring finger knuckle. Hook went in and reemerged a half inch away. Quite a sight. Had to have my brother-in-law cut the barb off with wire cutters so I could back it out. I still love fishing. 😊

    6/25: 225.6
    /Logged; long walk/

    6/26: 226.4
    /Logged; some walking./
    Lots of commercially prepared food…

I love all of the fishing stories that are washing up on the shore here.

    6/27: 226.0
    /Logged; not much exercise/
Yesterday was filled with doing book work for my parents, going to the doctor, chairing a planning commission meeting, and snacking.

    6/28: 223.6
/logged all; walked nine short holes of golf with DW/
It was nice getting out and golfing with wife for the first time in years. My own game has suffered from neglect, and she rarely golfs. But we both had a nice time.

Funny story: Our golfing history together is absolutely riddled with instances of me giving her unsolicited advice after a dubbed shot. (it sounds like man-splaining, but it is not. I am a bit of a student of the game and just want to share my wisdom. I am a 5 on the enneagram scale. HA!) Usually (always) this ends in her resenting my play-by-play analysis.

So, on the way to the course in the truck, I took the initiative to promise her that I would not be offering ANY advice while we played, unless she asked for it. I thought to myself that I did not want to ruin a nice day together.

After her second shot of the day, you guessed it… I made a comment. It was about a mistake she made on both of her first two shots. (I am a sick person.) She proceeded to rewind and replay my promise made in the truck. I tried to parse my statement by saying while she did not ask for help, her first two golf shots begged for help. That did not fly…… I was a good boy for the rest of the round. I like to think I have learned my lesson. Mostly, I just like to think.

    6/29: 223.2
    /logged it; minor walking/
DGS over for a while this morning. Air is a lot cleaner this morning after the rain, so I think it will be ok. He had a cough yesterday. (me too)

    6/20: 224.6
Starting weight at end of last round.

    6/30: 223.4
    /not logged; did some walking/
Well, the results of this round could be interpreted two ways. Yes, my weight is lower than at the start, but, the 10-day average (224.8) is higher than the start. I will take the overall loss, but to me the 10-day average tells a more accurate story. And it isn’t a pretty one for me lately.

It is good to be back at it with you all. I forgot how fast these 10-days go.

    OSW: 237.8 (Nov. 2016)
OGW: 199 (just to say I did)
    Maintenance Range Goal: 200-205

    Goals for this round:

    1. For 2023, avoid a repeat of 2022 lack of discipline.
    2. Stop whining.
    3. Log my food daily… That is how I lost my weight before.

    Round 227
    Starting Weight- 147
    Current weight- 142.1
10 Day Goal-I would love to see something in the 130s. Focus on my health not just my food intake.
    Ultimate Goal Weight: Sub 130
    6/21 142.1
6/22 141.9 Days are flying past me. I'm sure I have forgot to chart a coffee or tea here and there but still managing to get my major intake recorded. Staying under calories. Exercise is still just me running around sorting out life. Planning to meal prep tomorrow after groceries are delivered.
6/23 141.5 Walked the mall for about an hour while waiting on new lens for my glasses. Hadn't ate all day and grabbed junk for dinner before heading to bed.
6/24 142.4 Went out to eat for dinner and had to guess on calories. If I'm honest, I probably went over. I hate having to choose between losing weight and spending an evening out with my husband actually enjoying myself. It is not fun for either of us me sitting there miserable, stressing out, trying to guess calories. Sorry for being so negative.
6/25 142.1 Lazy Sunday. Got some much needed rest. Remained under calories.
    6/26 141.7 Remained under calories.
6/27 141.5 Finally got a walk in. 40 minutes. Over on calories a bit.
    6/28 141.5
6/29 141.9 57 minute walk. Remained under calories.
6/30 142.4 Barely managed to stay under calories, as I was hungry most of the day.

Ending this round on a higher weight than I started at. Can't say I'm happy about it. Mentally I have been struggling to keep going. I have been extremely hungry most days, tired, and grumpy. Hoping next round will be better.

    Round 227
    June 21 – June 30, 2023

61 year old female, 5’5”. I am married, semi-nomadic (we live in three states, Mass, Maine, Florida).

SW WW Sept 29, 2001 - 168.8 (initially lost 29.8, became staff, then weight up and down 18 years with low of 126.8)
SW MFP Sept 14, 2020 – 153 (lost 40, then stress took off another 2.2 lb with low of 120.8, then stress became gain)
    SW current MFP Jan 1, 2023 – 146.6
    GW Maintaining between 124 - 126

Continuing to figure out maintaining, and to work on best nutrition and exercise.

    History:
Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two “kids”, who are very much adults, a DGS, and second GS on the way. We have three parents, 88(father), 86(mother), 84(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an “all in or not” person. Hubby and I seeing our family home and downsizing distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse. A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

    Day/Weight/Comment

6/21 (mass) – 124.8 (Renpho 124.6) Back to middle of my range, which is good. Kitties had their wt checks this morning and chubby cat is up and skinny cat is down. Wrong direction for each of them. I did get on the IC4 yesterday. Only 30 minutes, BUT I got on it. I have to remember that I have these options in the house and need to take advantage of them. Today is time again with my parents. Medical runs with my father. Tomorrow is also my parents. Legal runs with them both.

6/22 (mass) – 124.4 (Renpho 124.4) Good new. Tracking good yesterday. Pathetic 15 minutes on the IC4, but that is more than zero exercise that today may bring. Today is picking up my parents, long drive to lawyer. Let them address their needs. Get them home. Return to my condo and pack and clean to go to maine. Walk the cats, then drive a half hour to my daughter’s for a family celebration of my MIL’s 84 birthday. Head back to the condo again. Finish packing and loading car. Drive to maine, unpack and settle in. Nothing bad in it, just busy-ness.

6/23 (maine) – 123.6 Wishing I had brought the Renpho travel scale with me to cross check. Number seems too low to be logical. Yesterday had been a wild day, small breakfast, then after dropping home my parents (which included medical drama to, from and during the legal meeting) I snagged one of their chocolate bars for lunch. Getting home, I saw the now hard remains of the melted chocolate from cooking for the birthday party. I proceeded to eat all that. Then had Chinese food at the party (controlled but not tracked), and then triffle, which was unfortunately two small servings. No exercise yesterday. Ironically, I was starving at 10 PM last night. Anyhow, the numbers will shake out and show the reality with time. Good or bad. Note: the only other time I have seen "surprise" 123.X numbers were on my scale in maine as well.

6/24 (maine) – 125.0 Yup, scale works fine. :P Diet was great yesterday, and then it wasn’t. Simple, straightforward binge behavior. BUT I did track it all. Was over my target (which is still technically below maintenance) by 1400 calories. Lots and Lots of carbs. Going to pretrack today. Hopefully, I will also convince myself to do exercise. Lately, it is raining like 5 or 6 out of 7 days. This is NOT normal for here and nor normal temps for this time of year. It’s becoming and excuse. Not good.

6/25 (maine) – 126.2 Ok, so posting later than usual this morning. I did weigh first thing, but wanted to get myself together before posting. Need to break my new habits, as yesterday was bad …. Again. Today, I weighed even though I did not want to. I got outside and walked/ran 6 miles in 78 minutes. I then used the mfp recipe builder to calculate the nutritional info on tonight’s recipes, and then tracked it. We’re entertaining tonight, and I am doing new recipes. Only after all that am I posting to you all. Today looks like a proper day! Yay!

6/26 (maine) – 126.4 Calories were good yesterday, and nice on exercise. I am guessing scale reflects the previous days of bad behavior.

6/27 (maine) – 124.6 Even though I started my day with leftover dessert (from the entertaining) for breakfast, I regrouped. We were then on the road all day and hubby needed lunch while driving, so it was fast food. Google quickly told me low cal options at McDonalds, so 4 pk of nuggets with hot mustard it was. Day ended with photography classes at Apple store to start learning how to better use our iphones. Dinner was in food court. Google to the rescue again. Chose panda express, medium entrée (no sides) of Kung Pow Chicken. Yes, MFP ended up having each of these foods to track, but sorting out selections was easiest through various websites on the internet. Glad to be getting back to normal AKA better behavior. Today is a rainy day movie…… don’t worry, I’ve got this one.

6/28 (mass) – 124.0 (Renpho 123.8) Couple days on track and numbers come back down. I am “maintaining” but not by eating identically every day. Maybe that is ok and “normal”. It least I am not responding to those repeated bad days by giving in. I’m actually seeing this as hopeful. Key for me (at this point) is remaining aware, regardless of good or bad, of ones choices in food and exercise, along with consistent check in with the scale.

6/29 (mass) – 125.6 (Renpho 125.2) Yes, I got out of line late last night. But tracked it all, got up this morning at 5:45 and headed out for a walk at 6:30. Stepped on scale after returning 124.8 (Renpho 124.2). Interesting to see because I don’t think I sweated at all.

    6/30 (mass) – 125.8 (Renpho 125.4) Continued……. Started and ended within 124 and 126.

    Final post a little late.

~ My Watch-party was a success. Not sure about the show anymore but we made the best of it. I did so well with food until the very end of the night when I felt the need to absorb some of the alcohol I consumed🫤 oh well! Today is looking like a replica of yesterday so I’m thinking my weight is going to be up again tomorrow. Only thing I can look forward to on Mondays -normalcy

~ Having a little girls night- “And Just Like That” - Watch Party tonight. I’ve heard Season 2 is not off to the best start but I’m hopeful my loyalty to my girls and the original series will trump my ADD tendencies, otherwise we’ll be busting out the board games.

~ It was my day off yesterday and I did a little hosting by the pool side with my mom and aunt. 🥰 We’ve recently just finished constructing our new pool and so I’ve been using that and the hot tub any chance I can. I didn’t eat terribly but we had some drinks and I didn’t work out.. not really. I guess I can still give myself credit for tracking food yesterday !
    • Wed 06/21💚171lbs; -.8lbs
~ I’m going to attempt to track my food today. I hesitate to say “I will” because I’m not sure if it’ll drudge up old negative feelings when I was doing it religiously and slowly getting out of control with eating and eventually quitting all together.
      But just for today…I will!
