Packing to go up north to a cottage with daughter’s family for a week. Had a bad last few days. Eating too much, even eating sugar. ( I’m diabetic and shouldn’t). Came back from Ireland trip and rushed to catch up with family before I leave again. Cooked several dinners for others. Threw me off my game. Gained a couple of lbs.
I’m back in my good head space today. Unfortunately, can’t weigh myself up north for the next week. A little concerned about this trip and gaining weight . They’ll be lots of family meals, maybe not as much exercising. I can swim in the lake. Wish I has snorkel gear. I used to love snorkeling along the shoreline looking at fish, etc.
I was so proud of myself for learning to cut and paste a document here. Well , silly me, I accidentally deleted the document I made.😒. Not as smart as I thought.
I do best with a routine.

Hi, Everyone! I am a 5'4", 45 year-old married female with four kids. I am a two-time cancer survivor, which put me into Early Menopause, and also have Hypothyroidism. I am currently dealing with sciatica and muscle deconditioning, which means I need to focus on calories in and out while I am recovering by building flexibility and strength through physical therapy. I have had a rough couple of months with my current muscle issues, losing my grandmother, losing my job, and my husband trying to recover from cervical fusion surgery, but I am grateful to have a new month to start again and keep the hope alive!

    Goals for July:
    1. Find a great new job and enjoy this extra time with my kids.
    2. Create a meal plan for myself and my family.
    3. Daily PT and walking.
    4. Organize and minimize my house and belongings.

    Weight Tracking for July:
    7/01: 190.7
    7/02: 188.5 - Surprise there.
    7/03: DNW
7/04: 185.7 - Weight loss due to sickness.
7/05: 188.1 - Rehydrating and eating solid food again.
    7/06: DNW
    7/07: DNW
    7/08: DNW
    7/09: 189.6
7/10: DNW - sick last night
7/11: 187.8 - Dehydration I believe and not weight loss.
7/12: 186.7 - Still thinking dehydration, but will keep my eyes on this.
    7/13: 186.5
7/14: 186.5 - Holding steady. Very interesting if this is real progress.

My name is Donna. I am 5’ 5” tall, 63 years old and from the Michigan USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!
    250’s; 240’s; 230’s; 220's; 210's; 200's; 190's; 180’s; 170's; 160's; 150’s

Starting Weight (from June 30th): 198.2
    Goal: (Five lb Loss) 193.2
    Actual Ending Weight: xxxxx

Mini challenge: My monthly goal is always about 5 pounds per month. HOWEVER, I never seem to make that. I will continue to keep that goal because it Should Be achievable (even though it is not for me) but never say never, right? So, Between Independence Day Holiday (July 4th) and Labor Day Holiday (Sept 4th) I will weigh somewhere, ANYWHERE in the 180’s. I don’t care if it’s on the brim. I’ve got to start getting further away from the 200’s again! Starting Weight on 7/4 is 195.4.

**************************************ONE DAY, ONE STEP, ONE DECISION AT A TIME************************************

Weight in blue makes me blue because it’s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because it’s a loss. Weight in black means no change.

07/13-195.2-(Trend Weight 196.4)- I’m still chasing my tail trying to get back down to my day 26 weight before the travel and nighttime binge. Making good progress though. Today is my son’s haircut appointment at my salon. I will take him to lunch afterward. This is a custom we have been doing since he was a kid. Be good at the hairdressers and you get to go out to lunch/dinner. With his autism, he is a child at heart and still expects these practices. Eating locally is usually a bit boring as it’s the same old tired menu they’ve had for the 24 years I’ve been here. I’ll either skip it or order what I know works for me. I really want to undo the damage that has already been done. Yesterday I danced for the first time in awhile. The first two songs left me a bit breathless as my heart tried to keep up, but then it stabilized. I also biked and did my strength training. I can still make my goal for July if I stay focused.

07/14-196.8-(Trend Weight 196.4)- My bulging scale is due to dessert I should not have had. Meals were good but my movement/exercise was non-existent expect for a few minutes of strength training. I literally ran all day on errands. DGS got to my house about 8:30 pm and spent the night for me to watch him today so there will be lots of stairs. On another note: I was reading this morning the autopsy results regarding the death of Lisa Marie Presley. Complications from scar tissue from her bariatric surgery a few years back. When was she overweight enough for weight loss surgery? I know there is some pretty special criteria for those surgeries including BMI and multiple morbidity conditions that are often required. I just don’t recall her being in a state that would qualify her. Thoughts?

@deepwoodslady I saw the info on Lisa Marie today too. I thought the same thing...when was she big? or big enough to warrant bariatric surgery??? I hope she didn't get the surgery because she was afraid of gaining weight. There is a lot I don't know about her so these were just thoughts running in my mind. Sad death, in any case.

@BittersweetVita It sure does look like real progress. Kudos!

@AmandaTucker127 You are making steady progress! Good work. 😊

@Melwillbehealthy Sorry you lost your doc. I just go back to my last post and copy it and then paste that to the new post and add on the new info. I don't know if that helps you but hopefully it does. Have a great time at the cottage with your family!

@ddainiak Thanks for the encouragement and it ain't no small thing to do 25k so good on you for doing it too! 😊

Have a great weekend everyone! ❤️

Since being sick this month, I have been eaten more probiotics and have cut back on my calories at lunch, which makes me hungrier by the time dinner comes, but I have also been forcing the family to eat dinner way earlier. I don't know if being sick helped to trick my thyroid into letting go of its desire to remain in the 190s or not, but I'm hoping it continues to forget that number! Lol!

@deepwoodslady - The news about Lisa Marie's cause of death is sad. It sounds like a rare complication. I don't know why or when she had it. Perhaps after she had her twins she was having trouble with the weight coming off? I know that after having my first child is when I had reached 188 pounds postpartum, I always gained from there with each new pregnancy, and was never able to get back under that number for the next twenty years. I had my yearly mammogram yesterday and during the physical exam, my doctor said that she can see that the scar tissue from my left mastectomy has adhered to some muscles and tendons on my chest, which is causing me some of my pain. At least my doctors can see mine - hers were somewhere where she would have needed a scan. And the pain pills she was probably taking for her pain may have been masking the intensity of her pain from the blockage until it was too late.

@buckeyebabe717 - What a great challenge you have achieved with that step count! Great determination!

@ddainiak - Woo-Hoo to a quick turn around from your Nashville trip!

@BittersweetVita Great insights on LMP. Yes, so very very sad. I am so sorry to hear about your scar tissue issues. Can it be resolved or something you have to "live with"? As a breast cancer survivor myself, I know of the many challenges we face on the day-to-day. My thoughts are with you.

July 1: DNW - Had a girls overnight (me and my two sisters) at Foxwood Casino. A lot of fun!
    July 2: 187.4 😁
    July 3: 188.2
    July 4: 187 😁
July 5: 186.8 😁 Had a quiet 4th of July - just hubby and me. It rained all day, but we did get in an outside walk in the AM.
    July 6: 187.2
July 7: 186.6 - Leaving for Nashville in a couple hours. Won't be back until Tuesday AM. I'm going to go off plan and have fun - but am sure that I won't binge as much as I did in the past. Have a wonderful weekend.
July 12: 189.6 Had a wonderful time in Nashville with family; it was fun, but not somewhere I would visit again. Too crowded for my taste; guess I'm getting old. Now back to it!
    July 13: 189.5
July 14: 187.6 That was a pleasant surprise - Getting closer to my pre-vacation weight.
    July 15: 186.6 😁 I'm back!
July 16: 187 - It was short lived, but expected. We were visiting my husband's 91 year old cousin and ate more than I should with no exercise. Was under my calorie limit, but the salt gets me every time.

    7/15: 186.3
    7/16: 185.4

@deepwoodslady - I am going to see an occupational therapist who is going to try and break up some of the scar tissue, but after 7 years, I wonder if that is quite possible?

Hi, my name is Carol and I am 68. I have been trying to lose the last 15 to 20 pounds to get to my goal weight since January. Two years ago I started at pretty close to 200 lbs and managed to lose 22 pounds. In the course of the next year my weight went back up to 188. I have been working since January to lose again and it is going down but ever so slowly. I live in Northern Wisconsin and have been trying to be more active this summer while it is nice outside and eat lots from my garden so my diet is pretty healthy. A daily weigh in helps me to stay on track. I know that I need to drink more water and have not been very successful at establishing that as a habit. Any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated. Starting weight in January was 188. Current weight is 184.

@BittersweetVita Well, unrelated to my breast cancer, I can say that I have had my esophagus stretched twice (surgically) because of scar tissue caused by acid reflux (food couldn't pass and go into stomach). So relating it to your scar tissue and occupational therapy, the stretching in your therapy just may work to "bust it up". It sure helped mine! My very best to you always...

07/15-196.8-(Trend Weight 196.4)- No real progress due to some “iffy” choices. Good on calories but too high on carbs. I babysat all day which meant that I made lots of steps and plenty of stairs. I also added gold’s gym ankle weights to my wrists to increase my hand weights to a total of 3 ½ pounds each. That is 2 lb hand weights and 1.5 each wrist weights. I only biked for about 11 minutes because it was very late.

07/16-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- What a great day it was yesterday until it wasn’t. I spent ALL day carefully planning and prepping my meals for the day. I cooked some pretty terrific stuff all within my macros, read another chapter in my self-help book and got in a touch of indoor exercise since we had a pretty severe storm yesterday and flood warnings. I was so in-the-groove and on top of my health and fitness goals! And then… last night I ended up in a snack fest. I binged for sure on everything in the house that wasn’t mine to have. I was too scared to look at the damage this morning. I’ll have to starve today and I know that still will not make up for it by tomorrow. It goes on fast and trickles off slowly. I’m pretty disgusted with myself this morning.

@Buckeyebabe7l7 thanks for the tip about the document. I will try that when I get home. I am up north at a cottage right now and trying to watch calories. We are cooking large meals for a big family. Lots of pancakes, eggs, and bacon. Luckily, my son-in-law is very health conscious and also cooks salmon and veggies, etc.. As long as I choose carefully I should be ok. Tonight it’s my turn to cook. I’m making chicken and beef tacos for everyone. I’ll have mine with salad.

I have to go into town and see if I can buy ground chicken. Sometimes, the choice of foods at the grocery store is limited here.
Mind you, I saw a few , large, wild turkeys yesterday. Could be supper lol!
