If anyone is interested - the next round of Hogwarts starts on August 11. Term 46 will be an 8-week term based on the Half-Blood Prince book. It will be posted on MFP for new students on July 28. I'm not going to lie, it is a LOT. But if you are a Harry Potter fan and want a challenge to keep you motiviated you may want to check it out. I love it.2

@Joans1976 and anyone else interested. I was given this link to a 30 minute podcast. It is about why we crave foods (like chocolate) instead of foods like broccoli. I found it very interesting. It also gives some tips on how to handle the cravings. I thought I would share it with you the way it was shared with me.

6: 200.5 🎶Whoop.. there it is.. whoop there it is!🎶 My July 4th festivities have caught up with me and now the leftover chips and cupcakes have been consumed… mostly by me. I’m not mad at myself… it’s just time to get things moving back to healthier.
I’m a cruncher by nature, so on the way to work I’ll pick up a veg tray as my chip substitution for the next few days.
Plus, swimming makes me ravenous! I need these easy healthy snacks to conquer the munchies!

Three days off in a row here. I have some self care planned. I am pretty much forced into slowing down due to the swelling and pain in my arm. I’m not to lift anything heavier than 5 pounds and it is my dominant arm. I can take plenty of walks though.
Happy Friday to all!5 -
@deepwoodslady Thank you for your kind words, I am so glad to know I have you in my corner! Thank you for the link too, I can listen to it tonight. I think my chocolate cravings are hormonal. Or…I don’t know. All of my life, up until about 4 months ago, if I got a craving it was for salty carbs. Pizza was my kryptonite. Now I can easily pass on the pizza but a doughnut or a brownie? So hard to resist. I try to stick with these individually wrapped dark chocolate mini bars from Aldi (.98 Oz, 130 calories) and limit myself to 1 but….that can go sideways.
You said your demons are at night? Are you restricting too much during the day? Just a thought, I know you have a lot of factors affecting your choices.
@jm216 Im happy for you!3 -
Hi! I’m a grandma of 8 from Canada. I live near my kids and help out babysitting a fair bit. I was never overweight when I was young, but have probably been obese off an on for the past 20 years. Something changed in my mental outlook about 4 months ago when my doctor told me I was now diabetic. She had previously warned me, but I just didn’t pay attention. I listened this time and am taking it seriously. I’m determined to get healthy.
My goal is to be able to stop taking several prescribed drugs, and lower blood sugar levels. I believe it will take me over a year to do this, but I’m going to do it. I was always healthy before I got fat. I have over 100 lbs. to lose. I’ve already lost 30 in the last 4 months, decreased my bp medication, and my blood sugar level has decreased significantly.
I’ve made lifestyle changes, and I’m counting calories most days. I’ve started swimming more. Recently, I even travelled for the first time in years.

I don’t really have a specific goal for July, but I would love to be out of the 190’s into the 180’s, as far away from 200 as possible. I never want to see that dreaded number again.5 -
Hi, Everyone! I am a 5'4", 45 year-old married female with four kids. I am a two-time cancer survivor, which put me into Early Menopause, and also have Hypothyroidism. I am currently dealing with sciatica and muscle deconditioning, which means I need to focus on calories in and out while I am recovering by building flexibility and strength through physical therapy. I have had a rough couple of months with my current muscle issues, losing my grandmother, losing my job, and my husband trying to recover from cervical fusion surgery, but I am grateful to have a new month to start again and keep the hope alive!
Goals for July:
1. Find a great new job and enjoy this extra time with my kids.
2. Create a meal plan for myself and my family.
3. Daily PT and walking.
4. Organize and minimize my house and belongings.
Weight Tracking for July:

7/12: 186.7 - Still thinking dehydration, but will keep my eyes on this.
7/13: 186.5
7/14: 186.5 - Holding steady. Very interesting if this is real progress.
7/15: 186.3
7/16: 185.4
7/17: 187.0 - Ate late, not great, and over calories.
7/18: 184.5 - Interesting.
7/19: 186.5 - Late dinner.
7/20: 184.3
7/21: 183.92 -
@ddainiak - Thank you for the shout out. It's taken me soooooo many months to get on the right track of consistently taking my thyroid meds, cutting back on the calories my body obviously needs to be at to lose weight, and to stop eating so late at night. I hate how it took being really sick for a few days to reset my big appetite, but make lemonade out of lemons, right? I made some really good but difficult choices this week. I still want to eat seconds at dinner time, but seeing the difference on the scale every morning is very rewarding.
@joans1976 - I am sorry to hear about the lymphedema. I have a small amount of it on my mastectomy side that I am always monitoring. Do you wear a sleeve? I just know that it is something that the doctors recommended to me should mine begin to worsen.
@Melwillbehealthy - Wonderful progress! Congrats on staying on track while "cottaging". I don't think that is actually a word...but it should be. I have a calm and serene feeling while typing that word.0 -
My name is Donna. I am 5’ 5” tall, 63 years old and from the Michigan USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!
250’s; 240’s; 230’s; 220's; 210's; 200's; 190's; 180’s; 170's; 160's; 150’s
Starting Weight (from June 30th): 198.2
Goal: (Five lb Loss) 193.2
Actual Ending Weight: xxxxx
Mini challenge: My monthly goal is always about 5 pounds per month. HOWEVER, I never seem to make that. I will continue to keep that goal because it Should Be achievable (even though it is not for me) but never say never, right? So, Between Independence Day Holiday (July 4th) and Labor Day Holiday (Sept 4th) I will weigh somewhere, ANYWHERE in the 180’s. I don’t care if it’s on the brim. I’ve got to start getting further away from the 200’s again! Starting Weight on 7/4 is 195.4.

07/20-196.6-(Trend Weight 197.3)- I finally had a good day through and through. I had to eat dinner very late (about midnight) to avoid the late night snack binge but I made it through. My days and meals have been good, it’s just that weird things start happening in the shadows of night and I find myself running from ghosts and fighting monsters. Last night I won. I’m down from my starting weight this round but a long way from goal. I’m not giving up on it yet!
07/21-194.4-(Trend Weight 197.0)- Well, the only way for me to stop my late night bingeing at this point is to eat late. Very late. I’m talking Dinner at midnight, snack at 2:00 or 2:30 am. I know that doesn’t put much time between my last meal and my morning weigh-in but that is the dilemma of a person who has a 20 hour eating window (and who sleeps only 4 hours per night). It’s working for now.

It's my 30 year wedding anniversary on Monday so we will be celebrating this weekend. I know I will be over calories at least one day this weekend. Hopefully I will still be able to lose at least a pound but I will try not to be discouraged if I just maintain.3 -
Kelly, have a wonderful celebration for your anniversary. 30 years of marriage should be truly honoured.3

Thank you so much! I have been truly blessed with a wonderful husband so it has gone by so fast!1 -
Went to the zoo again with the grands and this pic was taken...two of my grands weren't caught in the shot because they were in the front. But I love this shot...
This was the last ride of the day so we were able to go alone as a family. Pay no mind of the sour faces of my son in laws...they knew the pic was being taken and they like to look tough and try and pose...they are teddy bears with hearts of gold.

I don’t really have a specific goal for July, but I would love to be out of the 190’s into the 180’s, as far away from 200 as possible. I never want to see that dreaded number again.3 -
@buckeyebabe717 Great Pics! Looks like you had a ton of fun!0

**************************************ONE DAY, ONE STEP, ONE DECISION AT A TIME************************************
Weight in blue makes me blue because it’s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because it’s a loss. Weight in black means no change.

07/22-195.6-(Trend Weight 197.0)- My foodie daughter has been here since Thur evening although working during the day. I’m been babysitting DGS Age 5. I watched my portion sizes yesterday but Pasta always shows up on the scale for me. Leftovers today. I’ll probably freeze the rest. I didn’t get any exercising in yesterday technically although I ran after him all day and went to the park for awhile with him which fulfilled lots of steps for me. I did get in some minimal strength training.

I’m a cruncher by nature, so on the way to work I’ll pick up a veg tray as my chip substitution for the next few days.
Plus, swimming makes me ravenous! I need these easy healthy snacks to conquer the munchies!

My clothes and my lymphedema are telling me I’m gaining so I’m very surprised at a mere 2 pound weight gain. I’m trying not to be troubled by being out of Onederland.

I actually changed my July goal from 195 to 199 a few days ago-is that cheating? Will the MFP rulers come and strike me down? 😵4 -
@BittersweetVita I do wear a sleeve and a compression bra 24 hours a day. It’s lovely in the heat. They both were hurting so much last night though that I removed them and my swelling has gone way down this morning. I finally feel some relief! The lymphedema is no joke, I have to do my drainage exercises twice a day, I can’t lift anything heavier than 5 pounds with my right arm. I’m hoping some day I can put this behind me!
@Buckeyebabe7l7 Looooove the lion pic, hysterical!3 -
