My name is Donna. I am 5’ 5” tall, 63 years old and from the Michigan USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!
250’s; 240’s; 230’s; 220's; 210's; 200's; 190's; 180’s; 170's; 160's; 150’s
Starting Weight (from June 30th): 198.2
Goal: (Five lb Loss) 193.2
Actual Ending Weight: xxxxx
Mini challenge: My monthly goal is always about 5 pounds per month. HOWEVER, I never seem to make that. I will continue to keep that goal because it Should Be achievable (even though it is not for me) but never say never, right? So, Between Independence Day Holiday (July 4th) and Labor Day Holiday (Sept 4th) I will weigh somewhere, ANYWHERE in the 180’s. I don’t care if it’s on the brim. I’ve got to start getting further away from the 200’s again! Starting Weight on 7/4 is 195.4.

Weight in blue makes me blue because it’s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because it’s a loss. Weight in black means no change.

07/18-198.4-(Trend Weight 197.3)- I’m really sucking at this right now. I am above starting weight and the challenge is almost over. July has been filled with holidays and birthday celebrations that have got the best of me. I’m disgusted with myself right now. Also, summer is slipping away and I have not taken the advantage of it as I dreamed I would all winter. It is horrible how I have worked so hard on so many many days. Intermittent fasting, shopping properly, prep cooking and freezing meals, going without the foods I am craving, going to bed hungry, exercising and doing strength training until I can barely lift my arms, documenting every bite, counting every calorie, counting every carb, researching online new ideas, methods, recipes, reading my self-help weight-loss book(s), only to gain nearly every week. All over a meal or a moment of weakness here and there. That meal, that celebration dessert, is just not worth it! It’s time to roll up my sleeves! Sorry for the rant, but how hard do I work at this only to sabotage it for no lasting or productive reason? Stop it Donna, JUST STOP IT!!!!!
07/19-197.8-(Trend Weight 197.4)- Very good prep-cooked meals yesterday and a little exercise. Bad snacks again late last night. I think I dropped the ½ pound on the scale due to fervent prayer as mentioned in James 5:16 KJV of the Bible. I cannot do this alone! I’m planning an excellent day of healthy eating again today. I am going to study my prelogged food and make sure my snacks will be in line but fulfilling. But oh, those cravings! That’s where the prayer comes in!

Hi, Everyone! I am a 5'4", 45 year-old married female with four kids. I am a two-time cancer survivor, which put me into Early Menopause, and also have Hypothyroidism. I am currently dealing with sciatica and muscle deconditioning, which means I need to focus on calories in and out while I am recovering by building flexibility and strength through physical therapy. I have had a rough couple of months with my current muscle issues, losing my grandmother, losing my job, and my husband trying to recover from cervical fusion surgery, but I am grateful to have a new month to start again and keep the hope alive!
Goals for July:
1. Find a great new job and enjoy this extra time with my kids.
2. Create a meal plan for myself and my family.
3. Daily PT and walking.
4. Organize and minimize my house and belongings.

My clothes and my lymphedema are telling me I’m gaining so I’m very surprised at a mere 2 pound weight gain. I’m trying not to be troubled by being out of Onederland.
My eating habits are….abhorrent. I either eat nothing but chocolate or completely under eat. So many things in my life are beyond my control right now, you would think I would want to control what I eat!
I check on you ladies everyday and am amazed by your perseverance. For those of you affected by the heat, I’m thinking of you and please be safe!4 -

6: 200.5 🎶Whoop.. there it is.. whoop there it is!🎶 My July 4th festivities have caught up with me and now the leftover chips and cupcakes have been consumed… mostly by me. I’m not mad at myself… it’s just time to get things moving back to healthier.
I’m a cruncher by nature, so on the way to work I’ll pick up a veg tray as my chip substitution for the next few days.
Plus, swimming makes me ravenous! I need these easy healthy snacks to conquer the munchies!

July 16: 201… happy with progress in the right direction.

July 18- 200.3…. So close!
July 19- 200.6… I am 1 pound away from my July start weight…. This is my new July goal. I’d like to lose that 1 pound and be at maintenance this month.

@joans1976 Just keep showing up, reading and posting. Even if you don't weigh or don't want to report the weight on a given day, just being in the right environment will make transitioning back so much easier. I love the quote I read today on @ddainiak post: “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is courage to continue that counts” - Winston Churchill . Inspiring, right? We all need inspiration and support. I'm always happy to see your posts because I know you are okay.
BTW Chocolate cravings are the worst. I am a chocoholic. Even when I give in and eat it, it is not enough anymore. I need to BECOME the chocolate I think. So it's a full-on binge. My biggest secret is to not have even a speck in my mouth or the madness begins. Other times I can eat my dark cacao chocolate and be okay. There is not pattern or guarantee. Sugar-free hot chocolate, sugar free nestle quik, Russell Stover's sugar free candy, One square of 70% or higher dark cacao. These are all my choices. Sometimes it is enough, but not always. These secret weapons are at least something I can grab or try when I feel that crazed binge coming on. Sometimes it helps. I miss baking cupcakes, cookies, refrigerator cakes, poke cakes etc. But if I make them, I'm in big trouble with my hips and my diabetes! I'm thinking about doing a carb refeed about once per month. During those you are supposed to greatly increase carbs with HEALTHY carbs like whole grains. But even if I bake something once per month and use that as a carb refeed for a day or two would that be so bad? That would just be having that sweet treat that I bake (or ice cream I buy, or donuts I get from the bakery etc.) once per month. Only 12 times per year and something to look forward to. I dunno. It's complicated, isn't it? Anyway, thinking of you and hoping you can figure something out that works for you. Please share any ideas you come up with, or anything that has worked for you, even if it's only for a day. It may be the answer someone else has been praying for! My best to you always.5 -

If anyone is interested - the next round of Hogwarts starts on August 11. Term 46 will be an 8-week term based on the Half-Blood Prince book. It will be posted on MFP for new students on July 28. I'm not going to lie, it is a LOT. But if you are a Harry Potter fan and want a challenge to keep you motiviated you may want to check it out. I love it.2

@Joans1976 and anyone else interested. I was given this link to a 30 minute podcast. It is about why we crave foods (like chocolate) instead of foods like broccoli. I found it very interesting. It also gives some tips on how to handle the cravings. I thought I would share it with you the way it was shared with me.

I’m a cruncher by nature, so on the way to work I’ll pick up a veg tray as my chip substitution for the next few days.
Plus, swimming makes me ravenous! I need these easy healthy snacks to conquer the munchies!

My clothes and my lymphedema are telling me I’m gaining so I’m very surprised at a mere 2 pound weight gain. I’m trying not to be troubled by being out of Onederland.
7/21: 200.8
Three days off in a row here. I have some self care planned. I am pretty much forced into slowing down due to the swelling and pain in my arm. I’m not to lift anything heavier than 5 pounds and it is my dominant arm. I can take plenty of walks though.
Happy Friday to all!5 -
@deepwoodslady Thank you for your kind words, I am so glad to know I have you in my corner! Thank you for the link too, I can listen to it tonight. I think my chocolate cravings are hormonal. Or…I don’t know. All of my life, up until about 4 months ago, if I got a craving it was for salty carbs. Pizza was my kryptonite. Now I can easily pass on the pizza but a doughnut or a brownie? So hard to resist. I try to stick with these individually wrapped dark chocolate mini bars from Aldi (.98 Oz, 130 calories) and limit myself to 1 but….that can go sideways.
You said your demons are at night? Are you restricting too much during the day? Just a thought, I know you have a lot of factors affecting your choices.
@jm216 Im happy for you!3 -
Hi! I’m a grandma of 8 from Canada. I live near my kids and help out babysitting a fair bit. I was never overweight when I was young, but have probably been obese off an on for the past 20 years. Something changed in my mental outlook about 4 months ago when my doctor told me I was now diabetic. She had previously warned me, but I just didn’t pay attention. I listened this time and am taking it seriously. I’m determined to get healthy.
My goal is to be able to stop taking several prescribed drugs, and lower blood sugar levels. I believe it will take me over a year to do this, but I’m going to do it. I was always healthy before I got fat. I have over 100 lbs. to lose. I’ve already lost 30 in the last 4 months, decreased my bp medication, and my blood sugar level has decreased significantly.
I’ve made lifestyle changes, and I’m counting calories most days. I’ve started swimming more. Recently, I even travelled for the first time in years.

I don’t really have a specific goal for July, but I would love to be out of the 190’s into the 180’s, as far away from 200 as possible. I never want to see that dreaded number again.5 -
Hi, Everyone!
