Thank you @quiltingjaine for another round!

    💪🏋️‍♀️🤸‍♀️🎵💃👗👨‍👩‍👧‍👦💗🌻🏖🙏

    Heaviest Weight Ever: 186.0
    186 / 185 / 184 / 183 / 182 / 181 / 180
    179 / 178 / 177 / 176 / 175 / 174 / 173 / 172 / 171 / 170
    169 / 168 / 167 / 166 / 165 / 164 / 163 / 162 / 161 / 160 👉 159

If I quit now, I will soon be back to where I started. And when I started, I so desperately wanted to be where I am now.

Goal: Shoot for a healthy balance of nutritious food each day, and 80oz of water. Only write down what I eat without measuring or counting calories. I'm trying this out for size. It's not like I can't tell by now what is a healthy serving size. And, I'm hoping it makes me feel like I'm just living life while losing weight and not obsessing over every oz of food. We shall see....

    07/21 - 167.8
    07/22 - 166.2
07/23 - 166.0 - Weighed late yesterday and today, so may jump up when I weigh again at my normal time. I'm getting used to not obessively counting every oz of food. It's good for my OCD personality because I usually get nervous if I'm not being exact. That's a very big win!!
    07/24 - 166.8
    07/25, 07/26, 07/27, 07/28, 07/29 - DNW
07/30 - 169.4 - The results of eating more than I should, eating too many carbs, and too much salt. I hope this drops off fast and is mostly water weight - that is IF I get it together today!!

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!
    180s / 170s / 160s / 150s / 140s / 130s

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.

People say keto/LCHF isn’t sustainable. I’ve been doing it for over 6 years with amazing results!

This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.

We are unstoppable not because we do not have failures but because we continue on despite them. - paraphrase of original quote by Beau Taplin

    SW Round 230 133.0 AW 129.55
7/21 130.0 Yesterday was a good day although DH was in a foul mood most of it. El Pollo Loco for dinner. Tonight green bean and ground beef casserole - it’s keto friendly and he really likes it.
7/22 130.0 Yesterday’s casserole postponed until tomorrow. We decided to drop in at Great Greek for lunch. The place was a zoo! Manager said it’s always busy at lunch Friday.
7/23 130.0 I made a big mock whiskey sour last night. I had foot and ankle cramps all night. I wonder if there is a connection. 97*F at 7:45am, only supposed to get up to 114 today
7/24 129.5 No alcohol, no leg/foot cramps. Went to bed earlier and woke up a little later but I have vertigo and a headache. I have to get my tire patched before I go to my meeting across town so will drop stuff off at daughter’s and at a friends and then go to meeting.
7/25 129.5 BD small alcoholic beverage but got no leg/foot cramps during the night. There is a quail knocking at my back door. They know where the seed comes from. LOL
7/26 128.5 I got over 8 hours of sleep! woke with a terrible headache which soon went away. It was 96 degrees at 7:45am. I love the desert.
    No affiliation yada, yada

7/27 129.5 I suspect that is water weight from eating a hamburger AND bun yesterday at lunch in Boulder City. I didn’t care for the bacon which had been marinated in agave and jalapeño because I don’t want sweet meat. My GKI continues to improve. Back on track today.
7/28 129.5 Late post because I went to water fitness and to lunch with DH.
7/29 129.5 Jesse Rae’s burnt ends yesterday and today.
7/30 129.5 I need to shake things up - maybe I should shake the scale. Sat at quilt guild meeting for HOURS yesterday.

    Round 230
    July 21 - 30, 2023

61 year old female, 5’5”. I am married, semi-nomadic (we live in three states, Mass, Maine, Florida).

SW WW Sept 29, 2001 - 168.8 (initially lost 29.8, became staff, then weight up and down 18 years with low of 126.8)
SW MFP Sept 14, 2020 – 153 (lost 40, then stress took off another 2.2 lb with low of 120.8, then stress became gain)
    SW current MFP Jan 1, 2023 – 146.6
    GW Maintaining between 124 - 126

Continuing to figure out maintaining, and to work on best nutrition and exercise.

    History:
Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two “kids”, who are very much adults, a DGS, and second GS on the way. We have three parents, 88(father), 86(mother), 84(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an “all in or not” person. Hubby and I seeing our family home and downsizing distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse. A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

    Day/Weight/Comment

7/21- (maine) 122.0 True surprise. I ate slightly over my maintenance target yesterday. But went down further. Got to Maine last night. Father is still in the hospital, at least through the weekend. Mom is in assisted living and I will keep trying to check in with her. Daughter, SIL, DGS, and their cats are joining us with our two cats in our 2 bedroom condo starting today. I will cut my time in Maine short and leave after my daughter heads home. This is her birthday weekend (32 years) and last travel before giving birth to our second grandson. Tonight, we are also entertaining a friend. He became a widower 9 months ago (suddenly) and his 80th birthday was 4 days ago. I have two small cakes for tonight so we can celebrate both birthdays.

7/22- (Maine) 122.8 More logical number. Made it through last night’s dinner. Did not track perfectly, but well enough.

7/23- (Maine) 123.4 Had a case of hand and mouth disease yesterday. Gave up trying to track. Since I lost unplanned weight last week, I do have that buffer going on that helps to cover for days like yesterday. Daughter and family are here through today. Cutting my trip short to be back to help with my mother. My father’s return from the hospital keeps shifting out. It was first Friday, then “through the weekend – sun or mon”, then Monday absolute, now Tuesday. They are looking to get him stable before home. My concern is when he get home and his tendancy to make up his own rules. Given his medical condition, he should not be inventing his own rules like “my mitochondria need to recharge so I am not going to walk today” when he has been told that getting up and walking is critical for him. Argh!

    7/24- (TBD) 125.0

    7/25- (mass) 124.4

7/26- (mass) 122.8 (Renpho 123.0) Finally a day for me, and a chance to catch up on what has gotten neglected. Have had a raging headache since 4 am……… Father is now out of the hospital and back to assisted living. We have lots to deal with. He is stage 4 kidney failure, and has been for a while. He is a procrastinator (2022 taxes still not filed, an aspect of my grandmother’s 2008 estate is still unresolved, and two hoarded homes) and mom is dealing with dementia. Off to find the advil……

7/27- (mass) 123.3 (Renpho 123.0) I think I ate some form of ice cream all day except dinner. Needed both advil and Tylenol to knock down the headache and took until 1 PM. Today I am off to work with my parents on keeping up with the bills, and get those taxes paid.

7/28- (mass) 122.4 (Renpho 122.4) Eight hours at the assisted living then home. Only good thing is I refuse to eat there. Today is a “me” day, catch up day. Need groceries, gas, cleaning, and the like. I might even squeeze in some exercise for me. <3

7/29- (Mass) 124.4 (Renpho 124.4) Had a reasonable day, then just went on a bender. No idea the number of calories, but if one remembers a lb is roughly 3500 calories I did not gain even the equivalent of a single lb. Planning to make efforts today though I am facing a one day trip with unknown dining issues. Still has to be better than what I did last night. :P Bringing the Renpho with me to the hotel, so I will have a last weigh-in tomorrow.

7/30- (hotel) (Renpho 125.0) so yes I brought my scale and yes it shows the outcome of the restaurant last night. I had a reasonable eating plan in place, but the COO of the restaurant is my DD’s college roommate. She had gotten us the reservations in the first place, as they are pretty much impossible to get. Next thing we know, champagne is being brought to the table, then a variety of appetizers, all equating more than I planned to eat in the first place. Then it seemed wrong to not purchase anything, so I ordered the reasonable entrée I planned. Next, key lime pie comes out before we could even see the menu. Wonderful food, full of kindness. This morning, I should have been back on track, but we went out for breakfast, which we NEVER do. Tomorrow I will be back on track, and I am not expecting scale corrections for a few days.

After the knitting/step discussion the other day, I just had to share this video https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cu98a18pUyL/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

@musicsax Hiii! I wanted to pop in for a minute :) You have been on my mind because my husband and I are thinking about taking a trip to England and driving through the countryside to see more than just London. It made me think of the long walks you always post about. If there are any areas you recommend, I'd love your insight. I hope you're doing well! Life has been busy on my end so I haven't been able to post but I still think about this group

Hi there, there are loads of nice places with lovely walks, Derbyshire Dales, Lake District & Yorkshire Moors in the north, the Welsh mountains, and more. Personally Derbyshire Dales are my favourite, but there are the south Downs which are nearer to London; it depends on how far from the capital you want to travel. Good to hear from you.

    65 yr young F, 5ft 4 Round 230 (my 161st). Thank you @quiltingjaine for the new round.
Goal this round is yet again the same as last; to get back under and stay under 139. Holiday to Menorca is now in 52 days, I still need to crack on & lose a few pounds I’ll be needing to purchase a bigger size in holiday clothes, and I do not want to do that. So, 52 days, 5 rounds at a pound per round should easily get me to where I want to be, only I can do it, I’ve done it before so I can do it again if I knuckle down!! Really try to stay on track. After all I am what I eat in more ways than one, my whole demeanour is totally different when I am happy with myself!!
Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve my under 130 target; back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

    SW RND 230
7/21 139.2 - No structured walking as childminding little DGS, so 168 calories over, but no binge, in fact 6 days binge free, let’s keep it that way.
7/22 139.2 - no structured walking as raining in-between running errands 🥲. Managed to just about break even with calories, but carbs 18 over.
7/23 139.2 - 5.22 miles walked yesterday, it was cut short by the rain - again ! Calories 391 over; it was a strange afternoon, went to a living wake bbq for lunch/dinner, so choice of low calorie food was limited and he had brought a large box of cider for us all to drink, I did indulge in half a pint to have a drink with him; it was all about our friend.
7/24 139.6 – no structured walking, with rain (again!), travelling back from Aylesbury and Jools Holland & his Rhythm & Blues orchestra concert , with guest Pauline Black from Selecta – a brilliant show! Stayed within calorie limits.
7/25 138.4 – 8.24 miles walked, 20% exercise calories eaten back. At last a drop!

    exercise.png
7/26 139.2 – and up again! 9.75 miles walked, 60% exercise calories eaten back.
    7/27 139.8 – 11 miles walked 75% exercise calories eaten back.
7/28 139.8 – no structured walking, but 3.5 miles clocked up with 2 DGSs taking them to Tramway museum.
    7/29. 139.8 - 7.91 miles walked, went over calories.
7/30 139.8 – 7.39 miles walked, 75 flights of stairs!! We walked up to the top of the gorge behind Matlock Bath, along the top and back down, walked the shorter way through the High St as DS & family were coming out for a BBQ. 0.4 pounds down this round I am not doing well, I can do better than this, must try harder – feel like I’m back at school!!

    👍👍This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE & I AM WHAT I EAT!!!!!

@SModa61 You've been going through so much with your parents and also with the travels. I'm glad you took a little time to enjoy yourself and to appreciate some fine dining. Your very best habits will kick back in quick enough.

@musicsax thanks so much for the tips! I'm going to save them to our vacation ideas document we have :)

I am aiming for the same goals I assumed for last round: eat at my calorie target and get at least 22 active minutes in per day. I usually end up with more active minutes than what I aim for but I find more intense exercise makes me hungry so I am keeping to moderate exercise until I reach goal.

    SW RND 230: 156.5 lbs
    7/21: 155.9 lbs (trend 157)
    7/22: 156.1 lbs (trend 156.7)

    7/27: 155.4 lbs (trend 156.1)
    7/28: 156.1 lbs (trend 156.1)
Hungry day for me yesterday and now I feel bloated. I suspect perimenopause is causing my recent fluctuations. I have been eating at my calorie target and exercising so I will just ride the waves.
    7/29: 157.0 lbs (trend 156.3)
Another increase despite doing what has yielded a loss in the past. Once upon a time I would have been in this same situation and given up. But today I am just like *sigh* and ready to get on with it. I will count that as a NSV.
    7/30: 157.6 (trend 156.5)
That's a 1.1 lb gain for me this round. I think it is hormone related weight gain because I also track my measurements with a tape measure and, while I have increased around my waist, my other measurements have gone down. That matches up with the bloat I am feeling. Onwards and downwards to the next round!

@quiltingjaine thanks for the words of wisdom. I am okay with the gain because I know my eating and exercising has been on point. I think it is just a perimenopause related anomaly.

    About Me:
This is my second round and really appreciated the last one.
Thanks to a medication I'm on for my mental health and an overeating habit, I managed to gain a lot of weight in the last year or so. On July 4, I stepped on the scale for the first time since I started the med (that is known to cause weight gain) and decided enough was enough. I buckled down and started actually recording my food for the first time in over five years and started walking every day. Now I need motivation to keep going.

    Previous Rounds:
    RND 229 - SW: 287.8; FW: 280.4 (-7.4)

    Goals:
    * track food every day
    * walk for at least 30 minutes and/or 1 mile every day
    * add in some strength training every day (upper body mostly)

    RND 230
    heaviest: 294 (7/4/23)
    SW: 280.4
    GW (short term): 275
    RGW: 275

7/21 - 279.4 - 1.38 miles - Had a bit of a big lunch with a Caesar chicken salad and half a sandwich and some white cheddar Cheetos. Then I had the last of the tilapia from last night (my daughter left me half a piece of fish), some brown rice, black bean & corn salsa and some other veggies for dinner. So even after all of that, I'm still like 600 calories under my goal according to MFP. I'm trying to decide if I want a couple mini ice cream cones or a handful of Cheetos. Decisions, decisions. Or maybe I'll sit in indecision until it's too late to eat anything. Who knows, but I'm so close to my first goal of 275lbs, I can taste it.

7/22 - 279.6 - 1.54 miles - Made breakfast for dinner because my grandson just loves sausage links. Had one and a half squares of waffle, 2 sausage links, 1 slice of bacon, a banana and 3 strawberries for dinner. Have no idea how many calories that is (haven't had a chance to input it yet). Back to being more careful tomorrow. I bought more tilapia (yay!) so I'm making that for dinner to finish up the brown rice and salsa from the other day (there are other leftovers for the rest of the family). Then I'm making burgers sometime next week so I'll have to plan carefully that day so I can enjoy a bacon cheeseburger and not go completely over. And despite the early morning heat, the 1.54 miles didn't feel that bad this morning. Can't wait for it to be a little cooler in the mornings (I left at like 8:45 and it was already 70F and the sun was blazing by the time I got home... it's in the low 90s right now).

7/23 - 279.6 - 1.38 miles - Didn't lose any weight again. Definitely been snacking a little too much lately thanks to those Cheetos. Need to get my control back. Made more tilapia for lunch and there was just enough rice and salsa to go with it. Took a relaxing bath tonight.

7/24 - 278.2 - 1.31 miles - 1 x 10 x 1 (set x rep x # of times) wall pushups - My walk was cut a little short by rain. I made burgers, fries and mac & cheese for the family and only got to have a burger on regular bread without the sides. It's the first really frustrating meal I've made where I couldn't really enjoy what was made. I snuck a few fries when I put the food away but I think I was still under my calories for the day despite that. Took out some pork roast to thaw so I'll be having that later this week.

7/25 - 278.0 - 1.8 miles - 1 x 10 x 1 wall pushups - Took an extra long walk this morning because it wasn't very hot but I somehow pulled the muscle that goes over the top of my right foot? I'm not sure but it hurts if I spend too much time on my feet so I'll probably have to take it easy the next few days. I also have to do yardwork the rest of this week which I hate. Stupid HOAs. Made more pork roast for dinner and it was so delicious and I was actually full after dinner tonight.

7/26 - 276.6 - 1.58 miles - Didn't get any wall pushups in today. Instead, I cut back a bunch of blackberry bushes from the side of our house using a branch trimmer. That was quite the workout and my arms are pretty sore (nevermind all the scratches from the thorns). Ended up just resting the rest of the day. Still need to unload the dishwasher and clean the counters and stove from when I made dinner last night. I guess it can wait until morning. I'm less than a pound from my first short-term goal! This was the easy part, though. I always lose a ton of weight in the first few weeks of cutting back my portions/calorie counting. But then the weight doesn't come off as easily. I'm super happy to be back in the 270s and hopefully I'll be back to 250 soon enough which will be a great relief for my back and joints.

7/27 - 275.8 - 1.48 miles - Did a few hours of work in the yard after my walk. It was too much. It wasn't super hot, but I think it got to me. After a shower and lunch, I just felt awful. Besides how sore I was from using muscles I rarely use, I had a headache, chills (the AC does blow right on me) and I swear my forehead felt warm (but that might have been my hands being too cold). I finally took something for the headache before dinner and now I'm just waiting for my meds to kick in so I can fall asleep. The HOA gave us 10 days to clean up the yard, but I'm going to have to take a break tomorrow. It's too much for me and only one of my kids would help me (the one that doesn't even live here). Also met my first short-term weight goal of 275! Now looking towards 250.

7/28 - 276.6 - 1.57 miles - No yard work today. I needed a break. I did get a walk in but it was much later in the day. I usually go between 8 and 9 before it starts getting hot, but no one was awake this morning to watch my grandson while I was gone and he refused to go with me so I had to wait for my husband to get home around noon. It was a bit hotter than I'd like but I survived and enjoyed the walk. My weight was up again. Not sure why. I was supposedly under my calories yesterday so I must have not counted something or my measurements were off. Oh well. Of course, my husband brought home a bag of chips--my supreme weakness. I've spent the whole day not thinking about them, lol. I've done well so far, keeping away from potato chips and eating lower cal Veggie Straws and White Cheddar Cheetos (usually half servings because that's still quite a lot). I think once I get to my next goal weight (250lbs), I'll allow myself some real chips and onion dip.

7/29 - 277.4 - 3.1 miles - Took an extra long walk today because I was lost in thought and knew once I got home I had to do yard work and I wouldn't be able to daydream anymore. Worked in the yard for two hours right after I got home from the one our walk. I'm sore all over and have blisters on my hands and there's still more to do in the yard, but with no one helping me, it's slow going. My weight was up again today which is troubling. Not sure what I did wrong. I thought I was below my target but maybe I didn't measure things well enough or something. Oh well. On to another day. I did treat myself to a petite sirloin for dinner. It was a nice treat after having pork roast and turkey sandwiches all week. Had some instant potatoes and lots of mixed veggies and brussels sprouts on the side.

7/30 - 276.0 - 3.11 miles - Another long walk while I daydreamed. Then I worked in the yard for an hour or so. By then I was sore and hungry but didn't want to eat until later. Had a steak for lunch and some pork roast for dinner then for dessert, I had 2 large marshmallows and 1.4 of a Hershey bar. I spent the whole evening trying to get my washing machine to run the clean cycle. It just sticks at the wash portion and constantly fills and drains and does nothing else for hours while it says it has 32 minutes left. The time never changes. This is the third time I've tried and if it's stuck again, I guess we won't clean the tub. Also researched replacing the seal around the door because ours is all moldy and gross. It's been leaking for years and I think it's the seal. Just have to convince my husband it's worth it to order the part for $60.
