    @wendsg - thanks for the advice. My husband & I took the whole thing apart and found the axel to be fine. It seems the problem is the right crank arm had loosened and there is now wear on the treads so the nut keeping on the arm isn't staying tight. He's going to put 'lock-tight' glue on it to keep the nut tight and see if that works for a while.

    @Mari33a That may work for a bit, but it may not be able to handle much in the way of wattage. Fortunately if it's the bearing arrangement I talked about earlier the axel is very cheap and easy to replace (you can get it on ebay for, like, 30 bucks). If it's a more modern setup where the axel comes off the chainring crank and goes through a press fit bearing to the left crank... nngh. Recommend ordering a new one and having it on standby for when the locktite eventually fails. Sorry to be the bearer of potentially bad news, but that sucks. :(

    Zwifting today because 95F outside with 55% humidity is not friendly cycling weather. Died on a virtual mountain. The Col du Platzerwasel can eat my entire butt.

    @RMUNTZ2 Sorry about your mom. Hoping for a quick and full recovery

    @ashleycarole86 Congratulations on your race!

    Got hit with a terrible stomach bug or food poisoning a week ago. Finally recovered and got good news about my injured shoulder, although the cortisone shot wiped me out for an afternoon. Feeling better today but trying to resist the urge to make up all my missed workouts from the week.

    Back in Houston and even walking outside made me nauseous from the heat. It’s Peloton and treadmill for me here for the foreseeable future.

    @SavageMrsMoose Gah, I hope you recover quickly!! Yikes.

    Forgot to log yesterday's ride. Got in a ride today plus a makeup ride. Only 3 more makeup rides to go - and I've finally finished all the climbs in the Zwift Climb Portal, so yay for that!!!

    Will say that while Col du Tourmalet is terribly long, it didn't feel quite as horrid as Puy de Dome. But holy cats, was it a slog!!! (not as bad as Ventoux, though. Nothing in Zwift is worse than Ventoux in my opinion.)

    I’ve been trying to get from Houston to NYC for days! Yesterday our flight was delayed by 8 hours so we rebooked for today. Just got delayed by 2 hours! At least I got my peloton in this morning! And I’ve recovered from my stomach bug!

    Peloton

    @Mari33a I hope things work well for you! I hate sounding like a bike-parts shill (trust me, I do things as cheaply as possible!!) but sometimes you just absolutely have to bite the bullet. LokTite is great, but it's definitely not a safe, permanent solution when it comes to parts that are under cyclic stress on a bicycle. :(

    @SavageMrsMoose So glad you've recovered from your stomach bug! Do wish you luck on getting to NYC. Yeesh, travel issues are the worst.

    Rode to and from the pool in another development today - did enough extra milage to count as the daily 10 and a makeup ride. Only 2 makeup rides left to go - officially done with the vacation ones, now time to make up the two that were 'I had so many chores and other random nonsense that I ran out of time and/or motivation' days. :)

    Only 1 more makeup day after this, and that'll get knocked out tomorrow. Huzzah!!

    Today did both rides in Zwift - one a simple 10 miles with a robopacer, the other a climb in the climb portal with the cooldown being with the slowest robopacer (first time using the 'teleport' feature, and I think I'm in love lol)

    Finally got to NYC. Had a couple really nice runs in Central Park and some fantastic pizza! Return to Houston was much easier.

    Still staying on track with the bike mileage. Hopefully I’ll get a few extra the rest of this month. Too hot to do anything outside other than walk here.

    Couldn't load yesterday's due to a construction crew hitting the fiber cables in our neighborhood and taking down the internet in the evening. So this is a combination between yesterday’s rides (to and from the pool and then an evening ride with a ride partner) and today’s rides (a Zwift event and another evening ride with the same ride partner).

    I haven't been riding since July 7. I went to the hospital everyday to help my mother try to get better but she could not so we helped her to the next world. She went to rehab even though she was probably too weak and gave it her best shot. She made some friends there and prized a beaded bracelet another rehaber gave her for finishing her first workout. She looked like she was improving but had lung problems that could not be solved and then she could not eat or drink without asperating so she could not eat or drink anything so we made the decision to allow her to go to heaven. After a surgery she searched her wrist and asked where her bracelet was. The surgical team removed it for surgery. we located it and she was happy. She worked hard for it. She did not suffer and hospice was over in 3 hours. We will bury her on Monday. My family and all her friends will miss her. Back to riding next week.

    My 2023 YTD Total Cycling Distance is 2,318.94 mi

    Last riding for a few days - crashed out real hard on the last one. Like "going 25mph then pedal-strike and now going ??? mph sliding on pavement" crash. Went to the ER - will be healed soon, but gonna take it easy for a little while.

    @wendsg,

    I hope you are healing! I had a slow speed incident last year.

    I know I pedal striked at low speed hit my head on pavement good I wear a good helmet. My helmet cracked replaced it but my brain is still abby normal. Thats a young frankenstein reference.

    Hope you feel better soon.
