I'm Darlene. I'm 63. I'm Married, and have one kid (28) and one pup (Monty). I have been working on me since mid January and have lost almost 40 pounds to date.

    August Goals

Drink 6-8 Glasses of Water Daily 💦
    Read daily 📖
Do something creative daily - Knit, Crochet, Color, puzzel etc. 🧶 🖍️ 🧩

    Highest Weight - 227
    Jan Loss - 9 Pounds
    Feb Loss - 5 pounds
    March Loss - 5 Pounds
    April Loss - 8 Pounds
    May Loss - 5.2 Pounds
    June Loss - 6.4 Pounds
    July Loss - 1.0 Pound
    July Ending Weight - 187.4

    Aug 1 - 186.2
    Aug 2 - 186.6
    Aug 3 - 185 The bloat is ending! 😁
    Aug 4 - 184.2 😁 Woo Hoo! I'm back to my low.
    Aug 5 - 183.4 😁
Aug 6 - 183.2 😁 I probably shouldn't say anything to jinx it, but I have been working really hard so it's nice to see that it has paid off!
    Aug 7 - 183.4
Aug 8 - 185 My own doing. My sister brought cake to Bingo with Mom night for my birthday (yup turned 63 today) and I ate more than I should. Also rained yesterday and didn't get my steps in. All around not a good day. Today my daughter is taking me out for lunch, but am going to try to stay in check the rest of the day. Hoping for a quick turn around.
Aug 9 - 184 😁 Had a really nice day. Started the day with my usual walk "after" the rain. Half way through it poured, was kind of refreshing and made us laugh. My daughter took us out for a nice lunch, and then just a quiet day at home the rest of the day. Tonight is Trivia night. We haven't been in a long time, so really looking forward to it.
Aug 10 - 184.2 4th Place in Trivia; waitress must have known that I was on a diet - never brought our dinners - just the salad! But - she brought me two beers I didn't order - yes I drank them. HA!
    Aug 11 - 184.2
    Aug 12 - 183.8
    Aug 13 - 184.8 (Corrected)
Aug 14 - 184.2 I have been out of my normal routine too long - never really got back into the full swing since coming home from Nashville. Starting fresh today! The timing was terrible in that the two competition challenges that I was in ended at the same time - nothing to keep me structured and accountable, so I would be on track one day and then off the next. I need someone to tell me what I need to do and then I will do it. Kind of like handing in my homework at school - I need to check the boxes! The competition challenges do that for me. LOL. One starts up again today the other the following week; so excited to get started again - hopefully will get to the 170s soon.
Aug 15 - 182.8 😁See what little accountability does for me.

Well hello August! Summer seems to be flying by!
I am Amanda, I am from Michigan. I lost 50 pounds last year but have been stuck at pretty much the same weight for about 7 months. This month I would like to put a dent in that number! Hooray for willpower!

Not cool. Not cool at all. I’m just getting back into the swing of logging every bite and weighing all of my food, so I can’t expect overnight results. I have a consult with a registered dietitian from the oncology department on the 25th. I’ll see if she has any earth shattering tips!

@Buckeyebabe7l7 Kelly! 👍🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻I realize it’s belated but I’m so happy for you to reach that big milestone of 100 pounds lost! That must feel amazing! You are an inspiration!

Thank you!!! I do feel so much better than when I started this journey. 😊 I really don't want to be back there ever again so this time I am not going to just quit when I get to my goal. This time I realize it really doesn't end it just transitions to a new phase of the journey because it's not just about losing weight but even more about being healthy and active.

@joans1976 I never had to see a dietician in relation to oncology or my breast cancer. That's very interesting. Please keep me posted with recommendations. You can also PM me. Glad to have you back! Hope your well rested from vacation!

@deepwoodslady I was offered the nutrition consult because I am so upset by my size and I’m afraid my obesity is making my lymphedema worse. My doctor is sending me to “cancer rehab” and apparently they address the whole body and a big part of my mental and physical health is my obesity. I’m willing to take any offers of help. I continued to eat the same throughout last winter but my weight loss came to a screeching halt when I was diagnosed in October. Then I fell off the wagon this summer and gained a few pounds back but am really nervous as I worked hard to lose that 50 pounds last summer and I think we all know how a few pounds can turn into many pounds. I’ll let you know how it goes!

@joans1976 Orginally my goal was to get out of the "obese" category - about 60 pounds. The "normal" range just didn't seem remotely possible (86 pounds). But now that I am getting closer I'm thinking I'll definitely adjust my goal. I don't know if 86 pounds is the answer - I'll know when I get there. How about you? As for my August goal - yes I met it. Let's hope it sticks! 😉

Hi! I’m a grandma of 8 from Canada. I live near my kids and help out babysitting a fair bit. I was never overweight when I was young, but have probably been obese off an on for the past 20 years. Something changed in my mental outlook about 5 months ago when my doctor told me I was now diabetic. She had previously warned me, but I just didn’t pay attention. I listened this time and am taking it seriously. I’m determined to get healthy.
My goal is to be able to stop taking several prescribed drugs, and lower blood sugar levels. I believe it will take me over a year to do this, but I’m going to do it. I was always healthy before I got fat. I have over 100 lbs. to lose. I’ve already lost 36 in the last 5 months, decreased my bp medication, and my blood sugar level has decreased significantly.
I’ve made lifestyle changes, and I’m counting calories most days. I’ve started swimming more. Recently, I even travelled for the first time in years.

    Starting weight: 230
    Goal weight: 130 (maybe less)
    Height: 5’2”

    Monthly Weight Loss:
    March-10 lbs.
    April- 8 lbs.
    May- 5 lbs.
June- 4.4 lbs. (trip to Europe)
    July- 5.4
    August-
    September-
    October-
    November-
    December-

Aug. 16- 194 lbs. starting this challenge 1/2 way through. I’d love to get into the 180’s by the end of this month. Don’t know what to expect. DH has a knee replacement surgery in a week. I’m his caregiver.

    @Melwillbehealthy yay for CANADA!!!!
@joans1976 Mammogram was a fit scary - saw a shadow - so had to go back in for a few more scans. She said she thinks it looks fine - who wants to hear that??? My Oncologist appt is next week...so will find out then. I feel nothing though - so trying not to make that my main focus <3

We had a nutrition course we could attend when I was diagnosed - it's all quite overwhelming and every little bit helps. I think it's totally awesome that you get a nutritionist...

I started with this group in July. I am Mary, 69 years old, CW 170 lbs, HW 185, GW 150, or maybe UGW 140. It would be great if my blood pressure improved with weight loss. I've lost 15 lbs this year, and lost another 6 but gained it back after a trip and haven't been able to get back down to 164. Logging and weighing might help me see how to make more progress. MFP isn't easy for me to work with but I'm starting to get used to it -- I'll be putting in my daily weight and checking for any change in my measurements. Still trying IF 16/8 with Keto but not married to it, if I don't make progress. I am coming to believe exercise is the missing component for me, and I'm working on regaining strength from long-lasting leg and ankle problems resulting from Guillain-Barre syndrome so I can get more steps.

Continuing with focus on nutrition: <3 veggies and fruits. Still a bit keto, a bit IF.
    Hydration.
Walking despite ankle pain – have to push myself.
I am cautiously optimistic this morning; I was finally down below 170 – 1.2 lbs below – nice. We’ll see if it is real.
