G'day all. I'm Adam from Tasmania. I started this journey 1 year ago this month, weighing 142kg.
    Since then, I've lost 22kg.
Let's see if I can finally drop below 120kg

    📝 = Fully logged food

    01/08/2022 - 142.2 kg (Starting Point)
    25/07/2023 - 121.1 kg (Lowest Point)
    ...

    05/08/2023 - 121.5 kg 📝
    06/08/2023 - 120.7 kg (WooHoo! New all-time low)
    07/08/2023 - 121.3 kg
    08/08/2023 - 121.4 kg 📝
    09/08/2023 - 120.9 kg 📝
    11/08/2023 - 121.5 kg
    12/08/2023 - did not weigh
    13/08/2023 - 121.5 kg
    14/08/2023 - 121.5 kg
    15/08/2023 - 121.6 kg
    16/08/2023 - 122.4 kg
    17/08/2023 - 122.7 kg

Not a great run lately. Too many naughty days in a row. Some for legitimate reasons. Others because of tiredness/laziness.
Also, my fitbit died, which has definately impacted my motivation and ability to account for the impact of excercise on my daily calories.

Hi all. I’m Katie, 42 married with a teenage daughter. My goal for August is to get into the swing of things. I just started Monday and was 302. First goal was to get below 300. Today I was 298.

Taking it one day at a time. I am making little goals for myself so that I can reach them quickly and continue with the desire to feel better and be healthy. I have started packing my lunch and logging all food, so far I haven’t wanted anything I didn’t eat. I know there will come a time, and I will deal with it.

Next goal is 295. End of August goal is to be under 290. I know it’s a stretch, but it usually falls of quickly when I first start.

I'm Darlene. I'm 63. I'm Married, and have one kid (28) and one pup (Monty). I have been working on me since mid January and have lost almost 40 pounds to date.

    August Goals
    Lose 4 pounds ⚖️
Log 175+ Miles on Fitbit 🏃‍♂️ Hit the 1,500 fitbit miles mark towards my 2,023 in 2,023.
Drink 6-8 Glasses of Water Daily 💦
    Read daily 📖
Do something creative daily - Knit, Crochet, Color, puzzel etc. 🧶 🖍️ 🧩

    Highest Weight - 227
    Jan Loss - 9 Pounds
    Feb Loss - 5 pounds
    March Loss - 5 Pounds
    April Loss - 8 Pounds
    May Loss - 5.2 Pounds
    June Loss - 6.4 Pounds
    July Loss - 1.0 Pound
    July Ending Weight - 187.4

    Aug 1 - 186.2
    Aug 2 - 186.6
    Aug 3 - 185 The bloat is ending! 😁
    Aug 4 - 184.2 😁 Woo Hoo! I'm back to my low.
    Aug 5 - 183.4 😁
Aug 6 - 183.2 😁 I probably shouldn't say anything to jinx it, but I have been working really hard so it's nice to see that it has paid off!
    Aug 7 - 183.4
Aug 8 - 185 My own doing. My sister brought cake to Bingo with Mom night for my birthday (yup turned 63 today) and I ate more than I should. Also rained yesterday and didn't get my steps in. All around not a good day. Today my daughter is taking me out for lunch, but am going to try to stay in check the rest of the day. Hoping for a quick turn around.
Aug 9 - 184 😁 Had a really nice day. Started the day with my usual walk "after" the rain. Half way through it poured, was kind of refreshing and made us laugh. My daughter took us out for a nice lunch, and then just a quiet day at home the rest of the day. Tonight is Trivia night. We haven't been in a long time, so really looking forward to it.
Aug 10 - 184.2 4th Place in Trivia; waitress must have known that I was on a diet - never brought our dinners - just the salad! But - she brought me two beers I didn't order - yes I drank them. HA!
    Aug 11 - 184.2
    Aug 12 - 183.8
    Aug 13 - 184.8 (Corrected)
Aug 14 - 184.2 I have been out of my normal routine too long - never really got back into the full swing since coming home from Nashville. Starting fresh today! The timing was terrible in that the two competition challenges that I was in ended at the same time - nothing to keep me structured and accountable, so I would be on track one day and then off the next. I need someone to tell me what I need to do and then I will do it. Kind of like handing in my homework at school - I need to check the boxes! The competition challenges do that for me. LOL. One starts up again today the other the following week; so excited to get started again - hopefully will get to the 170s soon.
Aug 15 - 182.8 😁See what little accountability does for me.
    Aug 16 - 182.6 😁
    AUG 17 - 182.8

Welcome! That's how I started...with small achievable goals. I would gain momentum as I saw myself achieve those goals and add new ones as I went. Keeping as consistent as possible is very important. You got this!

Hi! I’m a grandma of 8 from Canada. I live near my kids and help out babysitting a fair bit. I was never overweight when I was young, but have probably been obese off an on for the past 20 years. Something changed in my mental outlook about 5 months ago when my doctor told me I was now diabetic. She had previously warned me, but I just didn’t pay attention. I listened this time and am taking it seriously. I’m determined to get healthy.
My goal is to be able to stop taking several prescribed drugs, and lower blood sugar levels. I believe it will take me over a year to do this, but I’m going to do it. I was always healthy before I got fat. I have over 100 lbs. to lose. I’ve already lost 36 in the last 5 months, decreased my bp medication, and my blood sugar level has decreased significantly.
I’ve made lifestyle changes, and I’m counting calories most days. I’ve started swimming more. Recently, I even travelled for the first time in years.

    Starting weight: 230
    Goal weight: 130 (maybe less)
    Height: 5’2”

    Monthly Weight Loss:
    March-10 lbs.
    April- 8 lbs.
    May- 5 lbs.
June- 4.4 lbs. (trip to Europe)
    July- 5.6
    August-
    September-
    October-
    November-
    December-

Aug. 16- 193.8 lbs. starting this challenge 1/2 way through. I’d love to get into the 180’s by the end of this month. Don’t know what to expect. DH has a knee replacement surgery in a week. I’m his caregiver.
Aug. 17-193.8 swam for an hour. Haven’t been swimming as the pool has been closed for 2weeks. We had a horrific incident and a man drowned. I feel a bit strange because of it. It’s terribly sad.

@ddainiak Im not sure what my ultimate goal weight will be. If I go by the old fashioned BMI scale (which my doctor's office prints on my paperwork-love that) I should be 136 pounds to be a normal weight. That would mean losing 114 pounds overall and losing about 60 more from her. That seems impossible to get to, let alone maintain. I would be overjoyed to get to 150 and maintain it. I am glad to hear you are finding it easy to get to goal weight the closer you get!

@Melwillbehealthy I am a shorty too, 5'2", so I know we dont have a lot of wiggle room. It sounds like you are doing a phenomenal job. I lost 50 pounds last summer and was able to get off of BP meds and lowered my cholesterol. The doctor was not happy with where my A1C was at so that kind of worried me too. My dad just had a knee replacement on June 30 and my mom and I are his caregivers. He is 76 and has rheumatoid arthritis and a low pain tolerance so it has been rough. If anyone offers to help, take it!

@fourathomej Ugh, a shadow. So many things that could or could not be. Likely nothing but that fear is always there. I think my least favorite part is the gowned waiting room where they make us all wait for the imaging and I can see the tense, pinched look on everyone's faces. Fingers crossed for you and let us know what the oncologist says if you want to share!

@tassieboy Get out and get you a new Fitbit sir! I had a Charge 4 for a couple of years but recently got a Sense 3 (for free) and I like it better. Lighter and sleeker.

@Bluesmiley78 Welcome! This is a great group!

Great swim but that is very sad that someone drowned. I have been seeing a lot of drownings recently in our local news. In a small lake around here we had two people lose their lives within days of each other which was really weird and there have been others. I was a lifeguard and all of my kids were too and have had to save people and it's always very scary.

Aug 18 - 182.6 Packing up today - we rented a house on Lake Bomoseen in Vermont. Taking the boat (and Monty of course), leave tomorrow morning. There a lot of nice trails we are going to try, so should get in a lot of steps. With Monty with us, won't be going out to dinner, don't know if I'll be under my calorie limit - but at least I be able to log everything and control the salt. I'm bringing my laptop, so will be checking in every day, but won't be weighing in.

I started with this group in July. I am Mary, 69 years old, CW 170 lbs, HW 185, GW 150, or maybe UGW 140. It would be great if my blood pressure improved with weight loss. I've lost 15 lbs this year, and lost another 6 but gained it back after a trip and haven't been able to get back down to 164. Logging and weighing might help me see how to make more progress. MFP isn't easy for me to work with but I'm starting to get used to it -- I'll be putting in my daily weight and checking for any change in my measurements. Still trying IF 16/8 with Keto but not married to it, if I don't make progress. I am coming to believe exercise is the missing component for me, and I'm working on regaining strength from long-lasting leg and ankle problems resulting from Guillain-Barre syndrome so I can get more steps.

I was finally down below 170 – 1.2 lbs below – nice. We’ll see if it is real. I’m pretty sure it’s not going to hold. Nope, I was back up again this morning to 171. Deep breath. I keep trying, walking, eating fruits and veggies, drinking fluids. When I go up a bit despite the effort it's very discouraging. On the other hand maybe I'm not being honest with myself and need to be trying much harder.

My buddy Brutus had a stroke this morning and we just had to say goodbye. So I didn't do any walking or anything today. He was 14 and lived a good life. But he will be missed by me especially because he was my special buddy. He was my walking partner when he was younger and I still remember the first time I laid eyes on him as a puppy I fell in love instantly. I loved him so much.

He was well-loved and so special. You’ll always have him in your heart and soul.

    Aug. 18-DW gentle aerobics class
Aug. 19-194.4 ate some junk food last night, lots of salt, swam for 55 min.
    Aug. 20-
