@AlphaHowls - interesting on your HR - surprised it didn't go up higher in the heat and hills. Maybe you were able to push harder today?
@tarun_yadavA - have fun with your family!
Congratulations @Laurz9191! Interesting that you find the swimming the hardest but I have to say that zigzag Pattern would be really confusing! My daughter did a trip in Seattle a while back and she was terrified of the biking part over the bridges. She was a swimmer growing up but not open water and the swim portion was in Lake Washington. She picked up lots of time there despite dealing with the stuff growing in the water 😳
@Teresa502 - you are amazing! Do you worry about going out camping on your own?
We have high covid here too - so much so that I have been told I am not to go out into any large crowds (indoors or out). No movies, no Costco, no Target, no crowded grocery store.
I did though go out for a good/fast walk with Hobbes this morning, getting out before it got too hot. Initially I wasn't feeling great but felt better as we went along. I made a last minute decision to take Hobbes out to the trail and check out the river. Hobbes was SO excited when we turned to go that way. It was good to see/hear the river and all the birds and he got to sniff all the squirrels and bunnies.Got in 3.65 miles for 17.25 for the month. Tired tonight so tomorrow will just be agility assuming it isn't cancelled because of the heat.6 -
Yesterday, I did a 30-minute strength workout before I ran 5 miles. After I got back home I showered and loaded up my bike and camping gear and headed to a state park a couple of hours away. It has a 57 mile rails-to-trail which is great for biking, running, walking etc. I stayed at a primitive campground located around the 24 mile mark which gave me the option to ride either way. Yesterday I headed north, stopped for lunch in a small town, and then pedaled back for a total of 40 miles. After I set up camp, I waded into the river for a few minutes to cool off. There was a storm that rolled through around 6:30 so that made it a short evening. Before I left this morning, I headed south on the trail and got in 21 biking miles before packing everything up and heading home.
This is about the most awesome MFP post I've ever read. I have a new role model. That's a dream weekend right there.7 -

I completely agree. Great adventure!5 -
Also, is there a CT from Tasmania here? We got a request to join our Strava group.0

Morning all
Got in a 5! (09"22).
Bleurgh.
Now off on an Eat-athon!8 -
Tasmania?!!! Cool. I need to look for our Strava group. I have just been individually adding folks but maybe the group would be good too.1

Yeah, I gotta say @Teresa502 you ARE a bada$$!
Got in a nice 7.2 miles this morning. Wasn't quite the cold front I was hoping for, but 82F is better than 88F. Felt good to be outside again.
I think I can hit the 200 mile club before Friday 😁

@shanaber – The campground where I stayed was in the state park and there were around 20 sites. There were several families set up and a group of youth in the two spots to my right so I felt completely safe. I’ve never camped out in the wilderness by myself. Even with a friend though, I usually keep pepper spray in my tent with me. I’m glad you’re treatments are going well and that you felt like getting out for a walk yesterday. Love the Hobbes pictures!
Aww thank you @chris_in_cal, @Scott6255 and @polskagirl01. My husband works 12-hour shifts rotating between day shift and night shift so our days off don’t always align. I’m not cut out to be one of those stay-at-home and clean the house/watch soap operas type and we don’t have any children to keep me busy. Sometimes it’s just easier to take off on my own than to try to coordinate trips with friends.

Got in a 10K (09"22).
Going for a streak here... So easing up on pace (and distance too - today not counting lol). Not quite @Alphahowls , no... But seeing how far I can go. Ran last 5 days of July, and so far done all 22 in August. Think the most I've ever done before is 40.
Anyways... @Laurz9191 , while @polskagirl01 is right - I did get a bit fortunate... I totally think you can do this!
Run the 17-20M on Monday; carb load Monday night (pizza? lol)... take Tuesday off... See how you feel Wednesday after a recovery run and then make the judgement call then! You would have enough time to follow a taper plan should you choose to go through with it!
I've seen your progress on Strava over the last few months... You're progressively doing more and you're doing it quicker too. Not too mention the sub-2 Half... You totally got this!! 💪
Playing the highlights reel back on mine (God feels so long ago now!)... I remember running 20M at the beginning of December with my marathon buddy in under 3hrs at 08"55 ish pace. He was the one that was all, 'you can totally do this'. Didn't think much on it. Proceeded to enjoy Christmas... Drinks 🍺... Eating cr-p... the works. Only in Jan, I said right - I'm doing it. And I think the turnaround was 5 weeks.
Then I remembered I was really sick too at the start of January. Covid? Never tested for it... But Covid like symptoms... And I remember after a day or so of fever, I just had this mucus that wouldn't go for like a week. So really I'm gonna say it was probably a shade under 4 weeks too.
Then I did my 'big run' (which... Ended up being 26.2 distance... and you all said I was stupid for doing it lol), and then tapered for 3 weeks.
Not a plan for everyone to follow, I accept... But totally doable.
I'm very late to this discussion but for posterity and future readers, can I just point out that @tarun_yadavA ended up injured not all that long after the marathon antics and there is a possibility there's a link there? Not trying to be bitchy, just pointing out a possible link before I read further on the thread.

Me too, jealous!4 -
@eleanorhawkins nah... Marathon was mid-Feb (with a 26.2 'Big run' before that, in Jan)... injury wasn't till I got back from Florida and Caribbean mid-April... And my orthotic insole had completely worn out and lost a few degrees of its uplift. Which is probably why.
Doubt very much it had anything to do with the Marathon.

I did six quarter mile(400m) hill repeats yesterday morning. My calfs are wrecked! Wow. It's a rest day today, fortunately.8

No running this weekend. I worked on Saturday and then Sunday I just couldn’t be bothered. We got a tiny storm last night. A little wind and a few sprinkles brought the temps down a little. It was only 73F, 90% humidity this morning. By comparison, that was pretty pleasant. Both today and tomorrow we won’t be getting above 100F, and that will be a nice change.5 -
6km today!8

Interesting with your HR @AlphaHowls . It looks like maybe you were more consistent with your pace when you were alone and maybe you slowed down on the run where your HR went down in the middle. Amazing that you run 3 hours every day non-stop.
Yeah for the triathlon @Laurz9191 . You did great. I would have probably done the same thing with the pool thing. I'd rather lose than feel like I cheated. Glad you had fun!
@Teresa502 Sounds like you had a nice weekend with lots of biking.
Great running @kgirlhart !
@shanaber Glad you were able to get out on the trail. I hope you were able to make agility class today.
@tarun_yadavA Hahaha Enjoy your eat-athon!
Nice running everyone. I didn't comment on all, but did hug or like as appropriate. I think I'm caught up again. I'll try to post my updates tomorrow.

Morning all.
Got in a 5-and-a-bit (09"24).
Unhealthy weekend... And 34 runs straight... So just feeling it a bit today.
(Cousin from NJ gone Rome with his wife... So a few days to detox and go back to hummus-salads!... before Guys' night on Friday!)

Great work on the tri @Laurz9191 . That swim sounds very complicated - not what was needed!
This Englishman went out for a run at midday. Fortunately it was more midday cloud than sun. Just didn't have the juice in me and called it at just over 10 miles. I postponed the long run from Sunday as we had a three day weekend over here and my training readiness was 2/100 on Sunday. That means 4 days consecutive running this week including Fartleks tonight. Here's hoping
My parkrun with a friend was a success, more inclines than normal and my first 5k at over 6 mph since returning. Baby steps...
September is almost upon us, time to bring out the gortex shoes

That's some good running @TheMrWobbly
You are a consistent machine @tarun_yadavA, even with your binges and partying
Did a 3 mile TM recovery last night, then got out this morning for a nice 7.6 miles. It was a little cooler than yesterday at 76F, but still really looking for that cold front. I guess I'll have to wait until October.

You're doing great after your unhealthy weekend @tarun_yadavA !
Great running @TheMrWobbly !
Glad it is a little bit cooler for you @Scott6255 ! October will be here before we know it.2 -
@eleanorhawkins Any good French food pics to share? 😁
Today I figured out that I can tolerate the taste of the kiwi-flavored BCAA/electrolyte powder I bought to try, IF I dilute the serving amount in 1.5 Liters of water instead of one glass. Bonus, helps keep my water intake up. It's gross at the suggested dilution though. I'm going back to the unflavored powders and mixing it with oat "milk" and Nesquik powder. Much better.
My art wall has covered my map. Some turned out better than others. I might do more and replace the ones I don't like. I used markers, so it was hard to fix if a color didn't look right. Now I need to figure out another mindless activity I can do while mostly laying down. Probably sewing some project I already have in a box somewhere.
Had my cold water tub out for a few days. Weather is cooling down somewhat. I might even put a sweater on or close the window.10
