About meI'm 35 years old, married, mom of 2 year old twins. My highest weight (recently) was 153lbs. I'm trying to get down to 125. I'm trying to not just get slim, but get fit and in the best shape I can be.
I've somewhat recently got into running and have goals of running 10k (signed up for one in January) and hopefully a half marathon next winter. I see running as my 'me' thing.
I wouldn't say I've hit a plateau at this point, but I'm struggling to make the progress that I want. I reached 133 in early October, but I fell off the wagon pretty hard and am working to get back there.

11/8: 138.3
11/9: 139.8. Not too happy about this, but I know I did everything right yesterday. I ate well, stayed within my calorie goal, went for a morning walk and a run at night. So I'm just going to chalk it up to daily fluctuations. I was slightly higher on carbs yesterday and I'm a bit sore from increasing my runs recently, so it's likely I'm retaining some extra water.
11/10: 139.8. Another good day, as far as eating and activity goes. Did a 4 miles run at night, as well as a long walk in the morning. Calories were within goal. So I'm happy with what I'm doing. I'm just not too happy with the results, or lack there of. I know I'm being impatient. There may be some pms retention at play as well. But it's frustrating to be trying so hard and seeing so little results. Especially since I have seen results before doing exactly what I'm doing now. I'm hoping for the magical swoosh that comes along sometimes, making up for the lack of previous progress.
11/11: 138.9. Happy it went down a little, still hoping for another drop. Yesterday was okay, went for a walk, but no run. Eating was on track. Husband ordered ice cream, but I said no for me. It was quite difficult, but I'm determined to drop some weight.
11/12: 137.3. Happy with the drop. Water weight is working itself out. I ran 6 miles at the gym yesterday and gave the house a good clean. I ended the day with over 21,000 steps. Food was pretty good, I even said no to dessert!
11/13: 135.9!! There's the swoosh I've been waiting for! I ran 4 miles yesterday and was under my calories.
11/14: 135.9. It was a good day. I ran 4 miles. I didn't feel like going to the gym and running but I did anyway. It ended up being a really good run. I felt really good and ended up getting a PR on my 4 mile run. I felt like I could have ran all night. Food was good too, I stayed under calories.
11/15: 134.7. Yeesh, I wasn't expecting that loss, but I'm super excited about it. I've really been sticking to my calories (even though way too many of them came from a Dutch Bros drink yesterday). I've also been upping my runs lately, in intensity, frequency and length. It feels so good for everything to be coming together. I'm starting to eye the 133.2 that I had about this time last month. I'm hoping to get back there soon. I'm a bit disappointed that i regained to much so fast, but glad I'm getting back there.
11/16: 138.3. Not happy, but expected. I don't usually eat too many carbs so when I do, I retain water like crazy. And yesterday, I had a large helping of spaghetti. It'll come off quickly, I'm pretty sure, as my calories were still in check.
11/17: 136.7. Meh. I'm glad it is less than 10 days ago.7 -
65 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 241 (my 171st). Thank you @quiltingjaine for the new round, as always, so grateful.
Goals for this round to get into 138s solidly, hopefully lose a pound and keep heart rate under 50 beats a minute, then longer term goal to get back to 135 in time for Christmas (less than 7 weeks!).Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve my under 130 target; back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

11/8 138.6 – and back down! No structured walking yesterday as it was raining in the morning, so I was unable to walk to my seasonal part-time job (exam. Invigilator at local school) and later met sisters for lunch, but made sensible choices, 200 calories over.
11/9 138.6 - 9 miles walked yesterday, all but 28 exercise calories eaten back - I was hungry all day!!
11/10 138.6 – no structured walking hence 100 calories over – childminding little DGS.
11/11 138 – 10.33 miles walked, the last two were “dancing” miles! 70% exercise calories eaten back.
11/12 139.6 – 5.62 miles walked, an evening out with friends, and yes I did indulge, I’d had a sensible breakfast, fruit only at lunch time to leave extra calories for the evening to lessen the damage as much as possible, today is a new day and at least I didn’t let it trigger a binge. Onwards and upwards.
11/13 138.8 - It rained all day & cold rain at that!! No structured walking hence 177 calories over.
11/14 138.4 – 9.28 miles walked yesterday, less than 10% of exercise calories given back.
11/15 137.8 - 7.88 miles walked, met with sisters for lunch, 157 calories over. Tomorrow will be my round end weight as tomorrow evening I shall be staying overnight at DS’s house.
11/16 138.8 - 10.3 miles walked, 25% exercise calories eaten back.
11/17 DNW – as reported Wednesday I am taking yesterdays number as my round end weight. There was no structured walking as I was childminding little DGSs. 0.2 pound loss during the round which is miniscule but never the less a loss!! New round, onwards and downwards!

11/13-169-Back after a busy week and weekend. DH called me this morning and asked how it was going……..apparently he remembered that I had jury duty 😳. Any way, I found the summons and yes, today was the day!!! I called and was told to report at 12:30…whew! Got dressed appropriately and reported only to be told I was free until 2025! Yay! Now, I can get back in the prep and cleaning mode to have the relatives here for Thanksgiving.
11/14-169-Stayed home from a quilting day to keep working on the house. My dad made me a quilt rack that either stands up straight like a ladder or folds in half like a saw horse. I took the tops that need to be quilted and hung them up on it and that really cleaned up my sewing room and I can actually see what needs to be quilted instead of being in a stack.
Next I’m heading out to blow and hose off patio since the weather is so nice and we may en up out there Thanksgiving.
11/17-169-Finally back to yoga yesterday and all of that stretching is just what I needed.6 -
I'm 30F and committed to wondering less about the scale and wondering instead about how great it's going to be when my daily healthy practices are so normal that it would be weird not to do them, even on vacations or holidays. It has been nice so far.
My original goal pants are within reach and I hope to be able to post a picture of a before and after with them this round or next.
Edit: My strategy has been: All home cooked foods and no LESS added fats and sugar and alcohol. Potatoes and legumes make up most of my caloric base. More vegetables and less meat. Logging 1500-1800 calories a day with Saturday and/or Sunday as refeed day(s) where I have maximum 2500 calories if I'm feeling like I need it. ST as much as I can and walking as much as I can.

Ok, new round, and I’m really aiming to clean up my act. I know I’ve said that round after round and just haven’t gotten it together. I’m up 12 pounds from the beginning of the year when I wanted to go 20 pounds the other way. I am trying not to beat myself up over it, but I have to figure out why I’ve been self-sabotaging, not just in terms of weight but other things as well. I’ve never been like this. But I’m going to try really hard this round to get back to eating responsibly and writing every day. Really. Really really. (Anyone have any reading recommendations on self-sabotage?)

Right direction, if embarrassingly high. I’m off in a few minutes to pick up ingredients for a big pot of vegetable soup so I can freeze “soup muffins” for low-cal lunches. DH is making fettuccine with clam sauce tonight, so I’m having a salad for lunch. It’s gorgeous out, so I see a nice long walk in my day. Oh, and I knitted Charlie a sweater. 😊

Ugh. Well, since I can’t seem to motivate myself to move more, I’ve decided to sign Charlie up for the American Kennel Club Fit Dog program, which requires walking mileage on a regular basis. He can’t do it alone, so I’ll be walking with him. 😁 We start today. I’ve hung pants I want to back into on the bathroom and bedroom doors as motivation, and a pic of me 5 years ago at 129 on the fridge. How could I gain (back) so much weight in 5 years? I’ve also decided to weigh only on the last day of each round beginning next round. I think I see small losses as permission to eat more, and then I regain plus. I’m embarrassed about the whole thing and grateful for this non-judgmental group. Thanks, you guys!

I’m feeling much more in control that I have for quite awhile, but I’m also feeling very lazy and unmotivated about other things. I feel like I want to do a major purge of things I haven’t used in ages—my watercolor supplies, for instance, and partially written book manuscripts I can’t seem to get back to. Or the clothes I have stacked on a closet shelf with a note to donate if I don’t fit by June 1 (a date I fudged/extended from June first last year). I feel I need to make space for….something, no idea what. But such a purge seems extreme and, if I change my mind, expensive. And something tells me this is somehow related to losing the weight I’m holding on to. Does this make any sense?

Ok, a bounce back up (there’s that “permission to eat more because I lost a little” thing I mentioned on the 13th) but still, finishing the round a pound lower than I started (though up from the previous round). I shouldn’t be anymore, but I’m still astonished at how quickly weight goes on and how hard it is to get back off. But…onward.

11/17 - Overall I'm pleased with the results of this round. My average weight for the last 8 days (I started the challenge 2 days late) is 244. I would have preferred to keep the number from 11/14 😂 but it's been an up and down emotional week, and though I had some slips I handled it better than I have in the past. Plus it's that time of the month and I know that contributes to water retention and weight fluctuations. But at the end of the round I weigh less than when I started so I'll definitely take that win!! First challenge in the bag!🥳 🥳

11/12 - My lowest weight in 20 years was 239 which I hit earlier this year. Then stress hit BIG time, and I gained 15. I worked a lot yesterday on getting to the root of my eating issues. I'm a compulsive overeater and an emotional eater. In reality, I just really love food! I have a lot more digging to do to figure this out.
Also worked with my accountability partner on how to set up food safe zones in my house, creating a plan for the week, making a list of go to meals/snacks for "emergencies", quick but polite responses for when I'm offered something that would sabotage my efforts, and what to do when a craving strikes, ie - Pause! Drink a glass of water, several deep breaths, take my doggo for a walk, etc and reevaluate whether I still feel the need to eat the craved food.
It was a good day of reflection and planning! 🥰
11/14 - Yesterday was a rough day and I had a mini binge after getting some bad news about my son from his doctor. It was super stressful! But I logged everything I ate and I acknowledged what I was feeling. Even made a note of it in diary in the app. And even with the binge I was only around 200 calories over my daily goal. I consider all that a victory!
And I'm amazed that we only have 3 days left of this challenge! I'm planning to reward myself with some stuff from bath and body works for finishing the challenge.
Also, I read an encouraging article on the app yesterday about making the plan the goal rather than making the number on the scale the goal. That way if you stick to your plan but don't see what you want to see on the scale, you've still reached your goal. I thought that was a great idea.
11/15 - I believe today's weight gain is water retention. I was pretty close to my calorie goals yesterday, but we went out for Mexican for date night, and it was more salt and fat than I usually eat. There was a lower calorie soup and salad combo that I wanted to try but even though it was a vegetable soup, it was made with chicken broth. 🙄🙄🙄 It's a shame that more restaurants don't offer more vegetarian options. 😞
Anyway, I did ask for a to go box when I got my plate and packaged up half my meal right then and there so I wouldn't be tempted to eat the whole plate. I also counted out half a serving of tortilla chips and stuck to that, and I didn't even feel deprived. I broke them into bite size pieces so it felt like I was eating more.
Not what I wanted to see on the scale but I had some good NSVs yesterday so I'll take that!
11/16 - I have fibromyalgia and yesterday was super overcast and gloomy which always makes me have a flare. I had a couple places to go and when I came home I put on my warm comfy clothes. I'm very hot natured but I was chilled to the bone yesterday. I still managed to come in under my calories, amazingly. I chose to munch on low cal carb foods when I felt I needed something (pretzels and hummus rather than the chocolate bars I normally would reach for.) I feel I've made some good progress mentally this week. One more day to go!!

Interesting TG meal discussion. With just me and DH most years, we have a modified traditional meal that is pretty healthy. We get a skin-on turkey breast and oven roast it, serve with roasted sweet potatoes, steamed Brussel sprouts or broccoli, and, for DH, mashed potatoes and stuffing, neither of which I eat, and mushroom turkey gravy, which I do have on my turkey. I make cranberry sauce, which only I eat, with minimal sugar. I always make a pumpkin pie, but that’s the only dessert. So all in all, it’s a pretty reasonable dinner in terms of calories without sacrificing the sense of the holiday dinner.
This year we’ve been invited to dinner with my friend who has been very I’ll this year. She and her husband are not very food conscious, so it may be a challenge, but I offered to make the dessert and a salad, and I plan to focus on the salad, turkey, and veggies if they’re not swimming in butter. But we decided to accept their invitation because it could be her last TG at home if she continues to deteriorate.8 -
I think it might be a fear the round is over and that I don’t know if there will be another round. I’ve found it really helpful just to think of this as 10 days and a part of me is sad it’s over. Here’s 🤞there is another round and I can find it on community.

After at least a year of “us vs them” his goal is to turn it back into the friendly community it was a couple of years ago and to rein in the crazy spending of the past board, most recently $18K for 12 chairs! Through this round, I walked several times, could have walked more. I ate healthy most of the time. I didn't ever completely derail, just a few indulgences. I'm still losing a little weight, very slowly, which is fine. I'd like to add a little exercise, but my mind just isn't ready for it.

11/16 -179.6- (Trend weight 183.4) Thrilled, amazed and grateful to have hit the 170’s today. I worked so hard yesterday on both diet and exercise to give myself the push I needed to get as close as possible. I have not hit the 170’s in over 5 years, since Sept 2018 according to my MFP records. Last time I hit them, it was very short-lived. I never met my 145-155 goal. I never saw the 160’s even. Almost immediately I started to slowly creep back up. I re-gained the most during Covid shut-downs in early 2020. I’m not going to get lax this time. I haven’t met my goal yet in my weight, my size, my BMI or my blood glucose numbers. Everything is getting better but there’s still so much work ahead.
11/17 -179.8- (Trend weight 183.0) I am up just a blip after beginning to self-sabotage last night. Luckily I kept it to my “approved foods” and stopped before the damage was too bad with a 0.2 lb gain overnight. I’m hanging onto the 170’s by the skin of my teeth. Those of you who know me best know that I will not consider myself in the 170’s solidly until I reach 177 point anything so I still have a ways to go. However, I am grateful for the possibility. Great round everyone! Tomorrow I travel about 4 hours each way down to University Hospital for some medical tests (for daughter). Food will be at restraunt along the way. I will try to be mindful but where we eat will be her choice. Thanksgiving is coming up for those of us in America. I’m hoping I can tip-toe all the way up to it, Bang it out on Turkey day, then tip-toe back out without too much lasting damage. The key will be what I keep for leftovers and what I send home with others. Will it be lean turkey that I keep or will it be pie and desserts? Oh boy! See you all next round.

11/13 ~ 222.4 Yikes! I exercised daily anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. There was still lots of walking. Did NOT do well with water so I know I'm dehydrated and retaining water. I ate and drank what I wanted and had a great time. Refocusing.... Looking forward to catching up with everyone.

I got a last minute subbing job, so I didn't weigh this morning. I'll use yesterday's weight for starting the next round. I didn't make much progress this time, but didn't gain. Hoping for bigger losses in the next round. Really, I hope to be in the 170s at the end of the next round.

@quiltingjaine that menu is absurd! Who do they think they're catering to? Even kids cafeterias at least pretend to offer healthy options. I'm not even avoiding carbs and I'd be afraid of everything on that menu because it just sugar and fat laden junk and even the mashed potatoes are probably the boxed kind with margarine because it's cheaper. Since you're going for the social aspect what if you bring your own dish or lunch box and make a fuss about it by leading by example?4

About Me:This is my thirteenth round and really appreciate having someplace to stay accountable.
Thanks to a medication I'm on for my mental health and an overeating habit, I managed to gain a lot of weight in the last year or so. On July 4, I stepped on the scale for the first time since I started the med (that is known to cause weight gain) and decided enough was enough. I buckled down and started actually recording my food for the first time in over five years and started walking every day. Now I need motivation to keep going. I'm a mom of five and grandma of one 4yo that I babysit during the week when my daughter is working. We live in the Pacific Northwest where we're entering the rainy season which makes walking a lot harder, and it's my main form of exercise right now. I do have access to gym equipment at our HOA clubhouse, but I still have to walk there and back (takes about 9 minutes).

11/8 - 220.4 - 3.82 miles - Made pizza tonight. As always, it's a long, arduous project, but so worth it in the end. I made a half pizza for myself with fat free mozzarella and turkey pepperoni. It didn't look very appealing because the cheese didn't really melt well (as expected), but it tasted surprisingly good. I think it was the extra stuff I put in the sauce. I'm stuffed and sore all over. Started cooking at 3:30 and sat down to eat a little before 6pm after cleaning up the kitchen except for where the cut pizzas are (will clean that later). I shouldn't have to cook until Saturday I think. There are a lot of leftovers (besides the pizza). Tomorrow I have a job interview and I'm getting really nervous. I need this job because it's the only place I can get to without a car, but also the thought of going back to work after almost 24 years is terrifying.
11/9 - 220.0 - 2.77 miles (walk) - 4.2 miles (bike) - My job interview went great. Basically the hiring manager said she'd give me the job right there on the spot but then told me to go home, talk with my family (because me working for the first time in almost 24 years is a huge adjustment) and call her in the morning with my decision. I'll be working the seafood counter which is exactly what my last job was in 2000. The hours will hopefully be 1-9:30 with Wed/Thur off (those are days I have to be home to watch my grandson). I'm not exactly thrilled to go back to work after all this time, but I'm focusing on having extra money to spend on things I enjoy. Also, my weight was down despite the pizza last night so I had a really good day. And I got to talk to my middle daughter for a bit. She turned 21 yesterday and is coming in to town tomorrow to visit.
11/10 - 219.4 - 4.07 miles - Went to Costco to restock the freezers. We had done a full refill in a long time so we were out of just about everything. Tomorrow, we need to go to Walmart for the rest of the stuff, I have to go into my new job to fill out paperwork at 12:30. Not sure how long that will last. I also need to get some pants that fit because I have 1 pair of jeans and 1 pair of khakis that currently fit. And the jeans are starting to slide off of me so I'm constantly pulling them up. Pretty much nothing else in my drawer fits unless it has drawstrings to tighten the waists.
11/11 - 219.2 - 2.84 miles (walk) - 4.0 miles (bike) - Apparently I filled this out yesterday and never posted it. Oh well.
11/12 - 217.8 - 4.0 miles - Ate the last of my pizza this morning (both slices), so I'm a bit above my calories compared to most day and still debating have a piece of Hershey bar for dessert. It might mean I lose nothing or gain a small amount tomorrow, but the candy sounds really yummy. And I did a good 4 mile walk today. It'll only add like 90 calories. Tomorrow I have to go into work to finish filling out paperwork. Then the woman that hired me said she was going to try to have me in for training on Tuesday. I have Wednesdays and Thursdays off because I need to babysit my grandson those days. I plan to make a bunch of pork roast tomorrow which will have lots of leftovers for the week (for me at least... everyone else gets bored after 2 days). Then on my days off, I'll make some things that everyone else really likes. Hopefully, the leftovers will last through the weekend. Then I'll have to figure out something easy and quick I could make before leaving for work. I especially don't want to make anything big next week before Thanksgiving. This job is throwing me way off. I've been at home cooking nearly every night for 23+ years. Not being able to make dinner is weird.
11/13 - 218.6 - 3.53 miles - I definitely ate too much yesterday. Oops. But I'm now done with the leftover pizza from the other day so I won't be having it for breakfast and messing up my whole day. Did half a small salad and half a sandwich for lunch and then made pork roast for dinner which was so good and should last me the week (my family will only eat leftovers for like 2 days so the rest will be mine). Still haven't decided if I'm going to continue my daily walks once I start work. They're hoping to get me set up an on the schedule by Friday. I think, at the least, I'll continue my walks on my days off (Wed/Thur) but unless I feel the need to get out and get some fresh air, I probably won't walk on the days I work because 1, I'll be walking around at work, and 2, it would take up over an hour of my now very limited free time (5.5 hours between getting up and leaving for work pretty much). I guess I'll see how it goes this weekend.
11/14 - 220.2 - 3.48 miles - No idea what I did wrong yesterday. I think I underestimated too much of the food (I usually don't weigh or portion control my vegetables--just eyeball it) and just ate too much then, because I didn't have an accurate count, I ate an ice cream sandwich after dinner and that was just too much. I don't know. I was a bit shocked to see that number on the scale this morning. Oh well. I tried to be good today, so hopefully the number goes in the right direction in the morning. I have two more days before I start my job and then I have no idea how things are going to work. I won't be doing my daily walks anymore (I just won't have time) and I have no idea how hungry working will make me and if I'll start snacking from the stress. I'm hoping to keep my portions under control while at work. So I'm hoping it will all be okay.
11/15 - 219.4 - 2.43 miles (walk) - 3.7 miles (bike) - Went grocery shopping for Thanksgiving and got back just in time to start dinner (well within like an hour of getting home). After dinner, I was talking to my 21yo daughter and we decided to go to the HOA clubhouse at like 7:30. She messed around with the different machines while I did my normal 30 minutes on the treadmill and 15 minutes on the bike.
11/16 - 219.6 - no walking - Today was a busy day and it started wiht my weight up again and a scratchy throat. I had to drive my daughter to work this morning, take care of my grandson during the day then run to the UPS store at 12:40 to return something and print two things then right over to the grocery store to finish paperwork for my new job. Then grabbed a couple groceries and by the time I was done, I needed to rush over and pick up my daughter from work. Then I had to get online and find some slip-resistant shoes because I start my training tomorrow between 1 and 1:30. I also needed black hoodies or sweaters or something to wear under my uniform because the meat/seafood department gets really cold. Those hoodies just came and both fit well but my uniform shirt is way too tight even at a 2XL. They're like polyester or something and have zero stretch. Even with just a t-shirt on under it, it was too tight in the arms and stuff and you can't stretch them out to fit better. I would need at least a 3X to wear with nothing under it to be comfy and probably 4X to fit over my hoodie (which is mid-weight and only an XL so it wouldn't be too bulky (it fit fine). I guess I'll have to tell her that tomorrow and hope she didn't just order the 2XL for me. At least I won't need the hoodie under it tomorrow.
11/17 - 217.2 - no walking - I started training at my new job today. Of course, I'm sick and on top of that, I literally did not sleep last night. I somehow messed up my pills so I've now been up since 7am on Thursday (it's almost 6pm on Friday). I only had to work a half day today, but tomorrow I'm there for a full shift. I think the only plus is that the meat/seafood department is a cold room which clears my sinuses when I'm sick so my nose doesn't run as much. I finish my computer training tomorrow then will be training in the meat department the rest of the day. Then I work full shifts Sunday-Tuesday and next Friday/Saturday--thankfully not on Thanksgiving because it's my regular day off (but I'll be cooking and my son is coming over and maybe his girlfriend after she gets off work). Hopefully, I can somehow maintain my weightloss while working.10 -

@Corina1143 I'm hoping if I portion out my dinners with leftovers and take them with me, it'll keep me from eating junk at work. But I'm also not sure if my small portions will be enough to get me through the last 4 hours of my shift. It's definitely going to be an experiment to find the right balance again. I had to eat lunch an hour earlier than I'm used to today. I got home right at dinner time and warmed up some leftovers. It was actually less than I gave myself last night, but for some reason, it was way too much. I feel sick now. I probably should have stopped halfway through. Not sure what's up with that. Weird.
EDIT: Ooh, might be the sparkling water the manager gave me as a gift. I mean, I often drink diet coke with dinner, but I was thirsty when I got home and drank a bunch of the sparkling water. I bet the carbonation is adding to my full feeling. But it tastes so yummy (cranberry raspberry flavored). Guess I'll go put it in the fridge for tomorrow and just drink regular water the rest of the night.6 -

11/8: 269.2 this morning! I am hoping this puts me firmly in the 260's. Woke up this morning to news that we are going to need home repairs - kind of stressing. However, I am looking forward to baking these acorn squash--If imma be stress eating it will at least be some high fiber vitamin packed healthy business 😄
11/9: 269.2. Soooo busy. Not a minute of downtime. The kid requested an orange basque cheesecake for birthday time, so that was a fun challenge. I've never made one before so i am so curious to see how it turns out. I get to be a sneaky sneak and wrap the presents in the morning while everybody is asleep 🥷 We've also got the party coming up on Saturday and all of the kids will probably not eat the cheesecake, so I'm making cupcakes tomorrow after dinner.
11/10: Young'un's birthday 🥳🎂 269. Laughs, wings, cheesecake, and presents. The cheesecake turned out great! And the perfect size to not have it hanging around for several days. I might try to figure out how to do that with pumpkin for Thanksgiving. Good day today.
11/11: Young'un's birthday party 🧁🍕🎳 270.5 this morning--water weight gain. We went out for wings last night and afterwards I baked half the cupcakes for the party, then figured out i needed another 1/3 of a cup of dulce de leche so i was up till 3 boiling another can of condensed milk. 🙃🙃🙃 Got up this morning and baked the rest of the cupcakes, made frosting and decorated them. I'm ready for a nap and the party isn't even for another hour 😂
11/12: 272. Lots of sugar and lots of salt yesterday. I'm getting used to seeing the fluctuations now that I'm weighing every day. It makes me feel better that it's normal for weight to go up and down, but I have to admit that it does make me feel guilty about eating fun food to see the water weight even if my calories are in check. Everyone had a good time at the party! My NSV is I brought home only a few cupcakes -- what the kids didn't eat i gave away to other folks at the bowling alley. Came home and fell asleep by 8, then woke up at midnight and couldn't get back to sleep until 5. So my schedule is all crazy but I'm not taking any naps today so i can fall asleep tonight. I have leftover cake so I'm going to make cake truffles to send to work with my husband and that will be the end of that! No cake hanging around for days after the event 🏆🏆
11/13: 272.2. Body is hanging on to that water, boy. It will be a busy day at work today. Went to bed at 7:30 last night. Ate a good sized breakfast this morning since I don't know what the lunch at the department meeting will be. Planning to do a few laps around the courtyard at work after lunch today also.
11/14: 271.8. Better, but geez. I've decided for sure now on making a Thanksgiving meal that will be finished in one day. Same for Christmas although i know the whole month of December is full of treat-making and giving; maybe these two meals not being week-long events will offset that. I'm interested to try the experiment, anyway! I've always cooked more than enough for six people to eat twice (at least) with leftovers for days on these holidays, so it may even be refreshing to be able to spend more time relaxing and less time shopping and cooking this year.

I am thinking about holidays and my relationship with food going all the way back to my family and childhood. The holidays have always been the time when everyone brought out their top game in the kitchen, because it would not just show that they want everyone to know they care, but also it would kind of seem rude not to do so. Nobody ever brought just a bag of chips or a premade potato salad to dinner, and if someone brought a raw vegetable tray they would also bring a dessert or side dish. I don't think I have ever not made a traditional Thanksgiving dinner before, so I'm curious about how it will feel to not be cooking for three days or more. Will I feel like I have deprived my family, or that i have been deprived if there is no cornbread dressing? Should i still make a small pan of dressing and cranberry sauce anyway (now that i think about it, cranberry sauce in a shredded beef taco kind of sounds like it would work)?

I'm going to skip making the traditional dinner this year, and if i really, really feel like I can't live without some of it, I'll make it for Christmas. I wish I had more discipline!As far as the Christmas dinner, catering has to be booked months ahead so, no, no chance to change that. I have considered taking my own meal but do I want to pay for a place at the table?

Yes, they would have been.@quiltingjaine that menu is absurd! Who do they think they're catering to?. . . even the mashed potatoes are probably the boxed kind with margarine because it's cheaper. Since you're going for the social aspect what if you bring your own dish or lunch box and make a fuss about it by leading by example?
The menu WAS absurd. I do have to say the potatoes were real as was the butter for the rolls. I can taste instant potatoes a mile away. All the real butter in the world can’t disguise the flavor. My MIL peeled and mashed potatoes (I watched her) one holiday but “extended” them with instant when I was out of the kitchen. I could taste the instant and didn’t eat them. 🤷♀️

I am about 12 kg along the way to lose 32 kg. I use multiple tape measurements (cm) around my body because they aren't affected by salt intake. Apparently I've been trying to lose weight since September 2012, the last time I was at goal weight. Let's see if stopping eating sugary food is going to change things.
