About Me:This is my fifteenth round and really appreciate having someplace to stay accountable.
Thanks to a medication I'm on for my mental health and an overeating habit, I managed to gain a lot of weight in the last year or so. On July 4, I stepped on the scale for the first time since I started the med (that is known to cause weight gain) and decided enough was enough. I buckled down and started actually recording my food for the first time in over five years and started walking every day. Now I need motivation to keep going. I'm a mom of five and grandma of one 4yo that I babysit during the week when my daughter is working. We live in the Pacific Northwest where we're entering the rainy season which makes walking a lot harder, and it's my main form of exercise right now. I do have access to gym equipment at our HOA clubhouse, but I still have to walk there and back (takes about 9 minutes). I recently started working full time (after over 23 years as a SAHM) so my time to exercise is now limited.

11/28 - 214.8 - no exercise - My weight was up again this morning. The pumpkin pie is almost gone, though and so are the leftovers. I'll be making turkey and dumpling soup tomorrow probably. And that should cut back on the calories I have during the day. I just get off work and I'm tired and hungry and just want to chill and munch on some chips or whatever so I gave in last night and had some veggie straws and today I had some Ritz Thin Crisps to satisfy my cravings. I also don't get as much exercise as I did before even though I'm on my feet all day. I still don't know if I'm going to go to the gym on my two days off. My feet are killing me and I just want to relax tomorrow. When I'm not taking care of my grandson. Oh, I also have to take my car to Autozone to find out why the check engine light is on. Ugh.
11/29 - 215.2 - no exercise - I was up again today. Sigh. I know it's because I keep having small slices of pumpkin pie in the morning and I've been getting serious munchies after getting off of work. I gave into that the last two nights because I was just tired and sore and wanted comfort food to relax. I also ate way too much today and am way over on calories so I think I'm just going to call today a wash, have a big slice of apple pie with ice cream and then get back on track tomorrow. I also didn't get to go on a walk or to the gym today because I have felt super dizzy all day. Any time I moved, the whole room would spin. I was finally feeling a little better when I went to cook dinner, but it was really bad around lunch time. No idea what was going on. I don't feel sick in any way. The dizziness came out of nowhere.
11/30 - 217.4 - no exercise - My weight was up a bunch after my impromptu break from calorie counting yesterday. But it's all good. I just now know where I stand and can just start back up from here. I was mostly good today. Had a salad for lunch and soup for dinner. I did munch on some leftover season fries and turkey while I cooked. I logged them both to get me back on track with that stuff. Now I just have to power through for a couple weeks. Then it's my birthday (13th) which will be a cheat day so I can, you know, have cake and stuff. After that I start baking for the holidays. I think, though, I'll keep my baking to the week before Christmas to limit my temptations.
12/1 - 215.6 - no exercise - Back to work. My feet and knees are killing me. I did soak my feet because it just feels so nice right after work, but I fooled around too long between filling the tub and putting my feet in so the hot water only lasted a short time and had cooled some already. Oh well.
12/2 - 214.2 - no exercise - Work seemed to drag on and the last couple hours kill me because my shoes are, I guess, too tight. I think I need to get wides because my toes are rubbing even though I got a 1/2 size bigger. It's causing like nerve damage in my big toes. I completely lose feeling on one side of them and the other side just aches. I do have 2 other pair coming (couldn't decide so got both). I might see if they have wides and exchange them.
12/3 - 213.8 - no exercise - Well I was doing okay getting back into the groove of watching what I ate. But then my husband ordered pizza while I was at work, and I can't resist pizza. So I had a few pieces when I got home and ate the last of my candy bar. So went way over on calories. But pizza day is automatically a cheat day.
12/4 - 216.2 - no exercise - Cheated again today because there was still pizza in the house and I'm just sore and tired from work and don't care. I should get back on track once the temptations are gone. I think.
12/5 - 216.0 - no exercise - I need to start using my steps as an indication of how much exercise I did in a day. My app told me I went over my goal but my goal is like 5500 steps which isn't very much. I walk around a bunch at work but it's not as high intensity as working out. My knee is killing me today. I had to do a lot of bending and stooping yesterday. I think I'm going to get myself one of those foot bath things for Christmas. I've been soaking my feet after work, but all I have is a small tub and it only stays warm for 10 minute.
12/6 - 215.0 - no exercise - First day off of work and I ended up horribly depressed about now working full time but still being 100% responsible for the housework. Every day I'm on my feet for 7 1/2 hours in shoes that make my toes go numb and then I come home and fill the dishwasher, put away food, clean the counters, stove and sink and sometimes sweep the floor. Then I get up in the morning and clean the kitchen again. And then I clean it up before I leave for work. I even cooked before work yesterday. Because of the depression and being tired from working, I just ate whatever today. I didn't record anything. I just don't care anymore. Had a lot of chocolate to cheer me up. Hopefully tomorrow is better
12/7 - 213.6 - no exercise - Forgot to actually post yesterday. My second day off and also spent doing chores (took out the trash and recycling and the bottles which was three trips). Did two loads of laundry. Did some dishes. Cleaned the counters and stove. Swept my bathroom after the kittens got litter every-freaking-where. Oh, and babysitting all day. I made dinner but I think only me and my grandson ate. Now I have to go put the food away and clean up. Then finish the laundry. I did get like 95% of my Christmas shopping done today using various methods of payment but will take me like 6 months to pay it off, but so far I have nothing else to use my money on besides Disney/Hulu (and probably Netflix soon). I haven't really been able to get the kids gifts for years. Like maybe 1 small thing and $20 cash. So this year I went a little crazy now that I have money.9 -

11/28: 265.6. Feeling rough this morning. Didn't sleep well at all and sick stomach. Yesterday was stressful and my guts always seem to have their say when my nervous system is being rude. I'll be happy if i can achieve C-grade work today. I really just want to flop over and go back to bed, but I'm getting this coffee down so i can at least try.
11/29: 265.4. Not super hungry today until after work which was fine with me Went to bed early last night and slept straight through until the cat's breakfast time. Had more energy today (funny how that works!) so went for a walk on my break.
11/30: 264.6. Strategizing the holiday eating--got my first potluck invitation so i guess it's time to start planning. I ordered some barbecue from a place back home on Goldbelly for Xmas dinner--I'm digging the idea of just making dessert rather than a whole day or more of cooking. We have been missing our old barbecue joint badly so this is a good time for it (unfortunately every place we've been recommended since we moved has not hit the spot). It will also be easier to weigh and log, which is a bonus. It's so expensive for what we're getting (like a 3x markup from buying at the restaurant! Jeez) and crazy to think what used to be a quick dinner I would grab on the way home at least once a week is now just for very special occasions. That's probably best, though--it's not health food by any means 😂

12/2: 264.4. Good day running around looking for Xmas chocolates and hunting mushrooms in the rain. Feeling tired but good tired. Lots of running around to do tomorrow again so I'm going to try to get to sleep early (we'll see).
12/3: 265.2. Probably up today from water retention. I think we have been eating too much takeout. I did not, in fact, go to bed early, and actually later than Friday night because i thought of several Xmas presents I needed to buy online before i forgot. However I am almost done shopping for my kid now 🎁🎄It's dark and rainy today and i feel like getting back in bed, but I have my coffee going and a list of things to do, so i will get moving. In a minute. Or two. Ok, five 😁
12/4: 265.6. Ok now. I am craving carbs, carbs, carbs. Tried to eat a salad last night and ended up snacking all night anyway. At least i got some vegetables, and I did the errands I planned to do. More mushrooming yesterday. It's so cool seeing the different kinds that pop up with differences in weather 🍄Mycology and geology make going outdoors so much more fun! It's like a big treasure hunt.
12/5: 266.4. I liked it better when the numbers were going DOWN. I know I haven't eaten 7000 calories over maintenance. Come on now.
12/6: 265.6. Drinking the water, eating the roughage, trusting the process. Repeating that to myself as necessary
12/7: 265. One more challenge done! Only half a pound down, but it's not nothing. Got a good number of steps today. Didn't feel like eating much before work, but was ravenous afterward and after leaving and then grocery shopping I ate an entire bag of chopped salad 😂 It was only 600 calories for the salad, dressing and 5 ounces of chicken so I guess there could be worse things.8 -

Didn't weigh yesterday. Gall bladder was worse than I thought. Lots of crackers and yogurt the last 2 days. A real setback in my weight loss journey. But a few years ago it might have been 20 pounds before I stopped it. Or maybe the end. So I still call it a win. Better habits and more knowledge. I'll just pick myself up, dust myself off and start all over again.
