Just trying to be healthy. Weight loss is an extra bonus.
Eventual weight goal = 164
12/18 - 174.8. I can't believe we're even posting on a weight loss site on Christmas week! I'm gonna treat myself to one full cupcake, donut, big cookie, or ? As soon as I decide which one. Other than that, my Christmas extras will be mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, lots of French fried onions straight from the bag while I'm making the green bean casserole. Hopefully I won't backslide much. Just 10 more pounds. I know I can. I know I can.

Round 245
Dec 18 – Dec 27, 2023
61 year old female, 5’5”. I am married, semi-nomadic (we live in three states, Mass, Maine, Florida).
GW Maintaining between 124 - 126
Continuing to figure out maintaining, and to work on best nutrition and exercise.
History:Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two “kids”, who are very much adults, a DGS, and second GS on the way. We have three parents, 88(father), 86(mother), 84(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an “all in or not” person. Hubby and I seeing our family home and downsizing distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse. A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

Have not been online past few days. I do hope that everyone had happy and healthy holidays. For me, I am excited for 2024. I need a clean restart to get back on track.
Hosted Xmas yesterday. Have to have a packed car for saturday the 30th for us to leave Massachusetts for 4 months........ Have to square away all my mother's care, and still financials for her to straighten. All this week. BUT, New Year's Eve, we will pull into my MIL's home in Jupiter Florida with our cats in tow. We stay with her until Tuesday when we continue on into the Keys to our condo. So New Years will coincide with a real re-start this year. Then have 4 months to work on those habits, and after I need to make them remain a priority, which is where I fail when I come back to reality.5 -

12/18 133.0 Great Greek yesterday with family and friends and ate some chocolate in the afternoon
12/19 133.5
12/20 133.0 Community bingo tonight - pizza, salad and cake. Nail appt and lunch with DH
12/21 135.5 There is no way this is real. We didn’t go to lunch yesterday, will go today. I ate about a dozen Hershey kisses, other than that my eating was good - skipped the pizza crusts and just ate the meat, veg and cheese and a small salad. 2 eggs and 2 bacon for breakfast.
12/22 133.5 DD and DGGS came over for a visit. He seems to be cutting more teeth and was a little cranky. I had beef brisket for lunch yesterday, leftovers today. Went to bed at 8 last night because I couldn’t keep my eyes opened. Then I was up every 2 hours because I had a cramp in my left ankle. Garmin shows 8 hours 43 minutes of sleep but I sure don’t feel rested. Tomorrow we are invited to friends for dinner.
12/23 134.0 Out to brunch with blind friend - steak, eggs, potatoes and toast. 1 cup of leftover squash, green pepper, and onion in the evening. 12 Hershey’s kisses I need to throw those things away! Hershey has ALWAYS been my favorite chocolate.
12/24 137.0 I know this isn’t real but I was tempted to not even post this. LATE Dinner at friends last night. I usually eat before 3 or 4 and this was closer to 6:30. I had 1/2 glass of wine but every dish was carb loaded. Lasagna noodles, garlic bread, tabouli salad, lemon cake, tapioca.
12/25 135.5 Yesterday I ate toppings from 2 slices of pizza, some salad, 3 oz brisket, 5 Kisses yesterday. Off to DD#2 & DSIL, 4 DGC, and DGGS for traditional Christmas brekkie Sticky Buns
12/26 135.5 Yesterday - 2 sticky buns, 6 oz of meat and eggplant (that’s what was left after I removed 1# of lasagna noodles from what our friend gave us.) I added a little mozzarella and Parmesan and had a small salad. I added some no carb and low carb alcohol to a half cup of coffee. Not enough water. No Kisses.4 -

Found out yesterday my BFF has Covid. She started feeling sick on Sat., and we spent a few hours together knitting on Fri. She was vaccinated , but hadn’t yet gotten this fall’s booster addressing new strains. 😢 I’m vaccinated and boosted, so hopefully I’ll be ok. Someone sitting across from her at the party last Wed. wasn’t feeling well so we suspect that’s where she got it. Why do people go to events when they’re sick? Yeesh. Anyway, I guess I’ll be a homebody for a few days so I don’t pass anything on. That’s ok. I need to do some serious cleaning, and I finished knitting a sweater last night so need to finish and wash it and DH’s Christmas sweater. I’ll be hiding in my office for that one! 🙂 I’m still not weighing or tracking, and I think I’m doing ok. This break is giving me time to really think about what I want to keep in my food world and what I want to let go. I feel way too heavy, but with this little break, I also feel a bit more hopeful about a new start and better results.
12/19 - 😳
I “unofficially” weighed myself this morning. I’m not reporting the results here, but as I suspected, I’m too heavy. It’s ok, though, since I’m on my little break. I just wanted a little feedback. I’ve been thinking a lot about what changes I’ll make when I get back at it. As I’ve mentioned, DH does a lot of the cooking here and is a big pasta fan, but I know it’s not great for me, so I’m going to stock up on proteins I can make for myself when he’s having pasta pasta pasta (unless I can have mine with lentil pasta). Also going to limit my bread to 2 thin-sliced pieces a day. I do like sandwiches for lunch. I’m going to focus on non-starchy veggies and lean proteins, and a semi-Mediterranean plan. But not yet. After Christmas. If I try to start to limit things now, I’ll fail, and that won’t help me stick to anything except more of the same. So this is my little in-between reset window. On other fronts (though, I believe, related to my eating), I did a lot of cleaning yesterday and finished the sweater I was working on. I hope you don’t mind, but I’m sharing this one, too, because I love the beautiful tweedy yarn!
12/20 - DNW
Something is happening with this little reset period of mine…I’ve been sleeping embarrassingly late the past few months, but this morning I popped up, not early, but 90 minutes earlier than I have been dragging myself out of bed. That’s one of my goals going forward—get up earlier and write for a couple of hours. I used to write almost every morning from 6 to 10:30ish, 1,000 words a day. I haven’t written seriously in wayyyyy too long. I feel better when I’m writing. I eat better and exercise more. And I’ve realized that the gap not writing has created in my life may be the one I’m filling with food. Hey, maybe there’s an essay in this….. 😁

Happy Solstice, all! For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the light will be returning after tonight, the thought of which makes winter bearable for me. 🌞 I mentioned yesterday a feeling that I’m turning a corner of some sort during this little break I’m taking. More evidence…I baked shortbread cookies on Tuesday, revisiting my Scottish mama’s recipe. I love shortbread, but I’ve eaten only two of them. Usually I have trouble keeping my hands out of the cookie jar! And I was thinking of baking a cake, but suddenly feel completely uninterested in sugary things. So I’ve decided that the only thing I’ll bake for Christmas will be a mincemeat pie (which has no meat). I FINALLY feel ready to drop these obnoxious pounds I’ve put (back) on since 2019. Yay!
12/22 - 🎂DNW
It’s my birthday, so per our tradition, DH is taking me “out” for late lunch/dinner (although we’ll likely get carry out, which is fine with me). I’m trying to decide what I want. At the moment nothing sounds very enticing, but by 1 o’clock I’m sure something will. Otherwise, nothing much planned other than a walk, some reading, and some knitting!
12/23 - DNW
Thank you, friends, for all the birthday wishes! It was a lovely day. I did eat cake, but DH and I both found the cake (new recipe) way too sweet, and I tossed the remains. That’s ok, I got my bd piece. I’m considering today the start of my new year, and my renewed commitment to getting this weight off.
12/24 - DNW
Wishing you all a very merry Christmas, joyous Yule, and happy all the other holidays that happen this time of year.
12/25 - 🎄🎁
Merry Christmas! I knitted DH a sweater, and it fits—yay! For some unfathomable reason, he got me chocolate for both my birthday and Christmas. Whattheheck? I can’t help thinking of poor Ralphie and the pink bunny pj’s…. Anyway, we have a low-key day planned, and the only sweets here are mincemeat pie and shortbread cookies a la my auld Scottish ma. Good that I have a few days to unload before I start weighing again. Wishing you all the happiest of days, whatever or whether you celebrate!
12/26 - DNW
As predicted, yesterday was very quiet, and dinner was Christmas-y but simple—turkey, veggies, a piece of mincemeat pie. I felt very satisfied but not stuffed. Turkey leftovers tonight, but no “get fat over the holidays” foods. I’m quite annoyed at a friend of mine and would love a little feedback from some disinterested friends…This is someone I used to see at least once a week in NC, and since I moved away we’ve stayed in touch, sending Christmas & birthday gifts every year and many boxes of books we’ve finished. She has had a bunch of medical issues this past year, and at 76 she is working a full-time, fairly high-stress job—not because she needs the money but, I’ve come to think, she enjoys the status and, weirdly, the chaos. Anyway, about 6 weeks ago I sent an email asking how certain things were going (based on phone call a week earlier). When I hadn’t heard back 5 days later, I followed up with a “worried about you, hope all is well” note. She responded with a sound scolding, saying she had no time to reply to every email and wouldn’t for some time. (How long does it take to send a quick email to a friend?) Anyway, I haven’t written or called her since but did send her Christmas gift, a hand-knit alpaca lace scarf. I know she’s been on Facebook yesterday and today—she commented on a pic of DH’s Christmas sweater—but I haven’t heard a peep about her gift. I don’t want a gushy thank you, but I did put hours into knitting it, so…. Plus my feelings are hurt. I’m beginning to think this is simple toxic behavior and I should be thankful for the good times but let the friendship go. (Writing this out actually helped me see that even more clearly.) Any thoughts would be appreciated. I don’t want to hurt her in return, but I don’t want to keep getting hurt either. Thoughts appreciated. I think this is weight related because of the emotions this stuff brings up and which too often lead me to eat what I don’t need.

12/25 -178.2- (Trend weight 179.2) I’m definitely shocked at this weight today, I really thought it would be up. Last minute yesterday my foodie DD, my DGS, my S and I decided to head out-of-town to find a nice dinner somewhere. Our family dinner is not until Saturday the 30th. About an hour away we found a hotel with a very nice restaurant (we’ve eaten here before). I had a lovely pot roast dinner which provided some leftovers for later. I had some Kringle pastry later at home (too much) and one glass of wine. I also had a couple of mini reese cups (6 is a couple, right?). Not enough water and no exercise. So you see why I am surprised? The only thing I can figure is that it was basically one meal only for the day (plus all the sugar-laden junk). Also, TMI was good. I have already broke back into the Kringle this morning with my coffee. I’m worried about today. If I can stick to some go-to “diet” meals I usually have, maybe I’ll be okay. However, I did find a stocking on the fireplace mantle with my name on it. It’s a bit skimpy compared to years past but it’s not empty. At least not yet. Merry Christmas, my online friends. And if you don’t celebrate, know that I’m wishing you a wonderful 2024.
12/26 -179.0- (Trend weight 179.2) I don’t think the uptick is residual weight from a few days ago. Rather, I think it was probably the Kringle I ate yesterday and my sneaking into my stocking last night (chocolates). Today needs to be better. I don’t mind riding out the peaks and valleys until the 1st of the year, but today needs to be a valley day or I’m in trouble. I need a bit more movement today too. Yesterday my exercise was less than usual, but I should have still recorded it with MFP. I must keep logging!

@sheilaboneham my thoughts?
Keep journaling. Don’t chase the friendship. I agree that she could have emailed you or just sent you a quick thank you but now, this is more about your feelings and not her actions… Give yourself some love and hugs… If you don’t hear from her, the silence speaks … so listen. The holidays can be stressful for everyone and old wounds can surface. You never know the deep hurts that someone may be feeling. Protect your heart and mind. Look to any unhealed wounds you might have… Focus on your goals and dreams. Be patient. You are precious.5 -

@Cchassee Thank you for that. You’re right. Holidays are hard for lots of us, including me. This all started long before the holidays. I still haven’t heard a peep. I’ve always been fairly long to give up on friendships, especially when it’s been a strong relationship in the past, but once I “quit,” that’s it. I’m almost there. Thanks for your wisdom and support. ❤️4

Yesterday: more 💦. Gently removed myself from a toxic situation … very hard to do …. Still figuring it out. DH helped & supported me. Is an example of a blossoming stronger mind? A strong mind will create a strong body. 💪🏻 Drank water all day! Yum. I knew all that water would flush out my system. This morning I feel so much better still reflecting on what happened over the past few days but I know it will eventually settle well. Tough love.
I’m glad this round is over … but it was a good one for me! I had a plan & worked it. Facing so many different choices, schedules, social situations, foods, family, feelings…. Ups and downs. Holidays are filled with mixed emotions. But it was good! I now have a little momentum going into 2024 and still trying to reach InBody goal - now on the calendar in RED for 12/30.
Today: 🎾🏋️♀️🤸🏼- big exercise day!
I also want to thank everyone in this group for continuing your commitment. I learn big-time from all of you! ONWARD! See you in R246!

Yesterday: 💯lazy day. ✅macros & 1438 cal.
Today: 💪🏻🚶♀️🤸🏼🏋️♀️
I’m up a little because I’m off routine. Ok. Rational. Last night I decided to start fast @ 6pm. I felt terrific after that last fast and spent some time researching last night as to what happens to your body at 24, 48, and 72hrs - planning for 72. Pumped! Water, black coffee, electrolytes and grass-fed beef bone broth. 💪🏻
12/19 ⚖️129.6
Yesterday: ✅macros & 90 cal of bone broth, 🚶♀️3.9k, 🚫ex min, 🚫 ex cal 🔥, 🚫💗Z2 min, 🚫🏋️♀️, 🤸🏼
Woke up at 3:50! 🙃😳 Good Morning! Yes, scale is less but was expected. I’m fasting to reset ketosis & recharge /reboot. I’m hoping 130 will one day be my lean & mean ceiling!☺️
Because I spontaneously opted to fast, I also opted to remain sedentary yesterday. I did end up doing a lot of work around the house. I only counted 🚶♀️. After 6 PM, (24hrs) I had 2 cups of bone broth over a couple of hours, drank tons of water & electrolytes.
Going on 36 hrs as I write this … I feel really good this morn. No hunger pains yesterday, (because I kept drinking… ) And I was super busy. I had tons of energy. No headaches. Peed all day. 😎. Hoping it goes as well today.
I had another business meeting yesterday … I’ve been approached to take on a hefty project (in my profession). Yesterday was my third meeting in 10 days, and I’m strongly considering saying yes… With each day that passes, I’m becoming a little more excited about the opportunity. Ill have the flexibility to continue to pick up DGS from school, as well as play 🎾 in the morning a few days a week… and will also figure out how to 🚶♀️&🏋️♀️🤸🏼on a regular basis. The project would last six months… It’s actually too good to be true. So we will see! It’s been five years since retiring … would certainly be a wild & adventures ride cuzz I feel quite unprepared. We will meet once more after the holidays to solidify any arrangement … 🤞🏻!
Today: 🎾 🚶♀️and some 🤸🏼 - let’s see! Not sure about stamina but will try. I can always stop. ’ll be fine this morning but I’m prepared for a little waiver-ing between noon and 2pm…. 💪🏻
Note: TBH, For some reason, fasting is easier for me than I thought it would be. This is only my second go round. I find it much easier to just say no then it is to plan food/figure out what to eat…. It’s a competition with myself. Once I did the research & learned of the long list of positive benefits… It was a no-brainer for me personally. I once truly believed fasting was for WHACKOS 😎. Really! Isn’t that horrible? It’s not for everyone but… If you’re thinking about it, I encourage you to read up!
12/20 ⚖️ 128.4
Yesterday: ✅macros & 80 cal, 🚶♀️8.2k, 122 ex min, 1284 ex cal 🔥, 💗Z2 18 min, included some 🏋️♀️&🤸🏼.
When I first started playing tennis, I could feel the effects of the fast with an elevated heart rate, but then I played through it… so I decided to take it easy on ST 🏋️♀️. Fully wiped out when I got home. Nice visit with my DGS. Rested and vegged out the rest of the night.
⚖️ 128.4 That’s the fast and my body rebooting … will prol be 129-130 tomorrow. After today, I have to really buckle down on
🚶♀️🤸🏼🏋️♀️.
Fast: Boy, was I hungry yesterday! 2pm till bed…. Drank electrolytes & bone broth. No headache. Feel great this morn. 12 more hours. Playing tennis today. Feeling like I have to take it easy, but I may have a burst of energy, so let’s see! Thurs, Fri& Sat will be jammed with cooking & holiday! Will definitely get in early 🚶♀️. Some 🏋️♀️🤸🏼.
12/21 ⚖️ 129.2
Yesterday: ✅macros & 1055 cal, 🚶♀️6.2k, 103 ex min, 1022 ex cal 🔥, 💗Z2 16min. 🚫🏋️♀️🤸🏼
I played🎾 singles (A big deal in itself, 65… vs a 48-year-old youngster) & when over I decided not to pursue 🏋️♀️🤸🏼. My heart rate was up a good bit, so I thought it would be wise to limit any further activity, until FAST was completed.
I thought about food continuously from noon-3pm. I researched the difference between 48hr & 72hr fast and there is little difference… I had almost convinced myself to eat some scrambled eggs, but then I was running late to pick up my DGS from school. And because I was busy, I just decided what the heck just do 72 hrs. Goal accomplished!
🥩 &🥚🥚for dinner! YUM.
Today: Definitely 🚶♀️🤸🏼🏋️♀️. Eat lots of protein. Feel AWESOME. And yes, fasting is about your mind/will power. It’s not all hunger.
➡️Thoughts
➡️ Emotions
➡️ Actions.
Stop negative thoughts (excuses & rationalizations) & winning becomes reality. I have a choice. Hard stuff matters.
(Confession, ⬆️ this is an affirmation … I must say it over & & over & OVER again for it to become real!)😊
Setting a goal and completing the goal gives me BIG confidence. I’ll have a pep in my step today. 😎

Yesterday: ✅macros & 1515 cal, 🚶♀️2.2k, 🚫ex min, 🚫ex cal 🔥, 💗Z2 🚫min. 🚫🏋️♀️🤸🏼
We had a major MAJOR plumbing issue occur yesterday morning. Plumber can’t come till 12/26…. Thank goodness we aren’t hosting guests this holiday! I stayed on target with cal and macros but zero exercise. Couldn’t do anything. Hopefully today. 🎾🏋️♀️🤸🏼.
NSV: I feel great! Positive daily choices are “mostly” routine. Clothes too big/super loose. Mental clarity and strength. Sleeping so much better. No aches / pains. Slept to 5:20 this morn! BUT: Still need more consistency 🏋️♀️🤸🏼.
Biggest NSV: I know my body so much better! The scale doesn’t own my emotions. I’ve conquered the roller coaster 🎢!As long as I’m “on plan” Im not going to think twice over a 2 -3 pound fluctuation. (If I pig out, of course, I’ll be down on myself … But that’s different… That’s 💯on me& not the scale !!

Up waaayyyy to early today!
EPIPHANY:
I fessed up that I have struggled with my weight & the way I view /feel about my body since I was in grade-school. The last nine years I have gained and lost 15+ lbs SIX times. I deplore the way that 🎢 makes me feel… I feel like a failure each time I gain back the weight I lost. I don’t want THAT to happen again so this time I’m paying ultra close attention 👀 to what triggers me once I hit a weight goal, embrace that place a while and then, boom…. Welcome 15! So…. I’m setting new goals to build strength and muscle. … New goals that will provide focus elsewhere than the scale. New goals that focus on strength. For me, building muscle/balance/agility, etc. is “harder” than dropping pounds. The battle is between my ears.
If I’ve struggled for 55+ years with weight and self-image … why would that disappear just because I lost 15 lbs? My struggle is more than pounds….
I’m grateful for this “JGMTD” Challenge. Every 10 days I can gently shift/tweak process/actions based on what I continue to learn about myself. I’m glad I’m on this journey… Better late than never! 😎❤️
Pulling for all of you!🎄🎁
12/24⚖️ 130.8 so puffy this morning! Yucky feeling. Tired. Yesterday: 🚫macros & 2032 cal, 🚶♀️11.1k, 88 ex min, 🔥574 ex cal, 💗Z2 74 min . ✅🏋️♀️🤸🏼(10min)
Ate too many carbs. Took myself out of Ketosis*** Bummer. Dessert wasn’t even that good. (We were 🥳 celebrating our Anniversary (15th) and the coconut cake was brought out by the waiter!) How could I say no?! Delicious dinner (small portions), great time and we had a blast.
***Note to self: SUGAR - Remember – the piece of cake was NOT worth the fact it took me 💯 OUT of Ketosis. And, it may have ruined the healing of my 72 hr fast. The sugar brought me ZERO joy and it wasn’t worth it (to me). Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed everything about last night, but I don’t enjoy knowing that I have to start at ground zero today. (It’s not like going over calories…. With going over calories, you can be on target the next day… vs. going out of ketosis it’ll take me another week to get where I was). No bad feelings… Just a fact. It was a choice….
So here are my choices today… Do I eat a little dessert or enjoy a sugary beverage tonight (because I’m NOT in ketosis) or do I start back immediately today?… “Tomorrow is the enemy of today!” Decisions…. decisions! I’ve still got the 12/31👖 Pants-demonium Challenge in mind! 😀
Cooking today. Might have time for a short walk… Thirteen at my sisters home tonight-will miss my DGS!
Enjoy today everyone!

Followed 💯 to my Christmas Eve plan except I forgot water! While cooking all day, I simply forgot… Almost a zero carb day but also zero fluids. No sugar and healthy choices came easy yesterday… but today I woke up like a puff ball. Cant take my rings off. Amazing how my body reacts & tells me loud & clear I miss my routine & my mind misses it too! Especially water.
(No walking as it poured all day long … & it will rain also rain today as well… )
Looking back: Wonderful day & evening last night - didn’t “feel” pressure. Had fun cooking all day w/DH and it was a wonderful Christmas Eve with family.
Lesson: Water, Water, Water!
NSV: Did not react over the scale and I know that water today will solve the puff! I didn’t need the scale to tell me… I knew it already 😎
TODAY: Rain all day… Will try to squeeze in 🚶♀️🚶♀️🚶♀️. Family tradition of early afternoon movie, DS and DGS visiting later. Quiet joy and gratitude…. & Add: 💦💧💦. Merry Christmas!

12/26 Yesterday- healthy eating day but no exercise. NSV: Did not resort to bad choices yesterday when faced with enormous disappointment. Will make lemonade today.
I do have time for a five mile walk this morning & will start at daybreak. Plumber arriving@ 7:30. My car’s battery died yesterday… new battery will be installed later this morn. (Thank you DH) Logistical conundrums but NBD. This afternoon we are hosting DH’s out-of-town children/spouses & five grandchildren. All planned & GTG.
Will nourish my body with tons of LIVING water. I’m already filled with hope for a new day / fresh perspective & a heart filled with gratitude.

Health Journey
****************
1990 (Age 32) - Avg. 135 lbs
2001 (Age 43) - Avg 145 lbs
2010 (Age 52) HW 172 lbs
UGW = 130lbs (ceiling)
In Aug 14, 2014 @ 157lbs (down 15 from heaviest of 172lbs in 2010), I decided to take control of my health. I lost 30lbs by 1/1/2015. Weight topped @ 128-132lbs through the end of 2020. Five years!
🎢 Roller Coaster Begins….
2020 through 2021, I fluctuated 132-140 lbs.
8/1/ 2022 crept up to 142lbs.
Dropped to 128lbs again by 9/30 then held 130lbs till 1/1/23.
2023 Back ⬆️ 145lbs by July 15! 15lbs BOOM! Enjoyed eating & margaritas way too much! Ive always eaten healthy BUT portion control is/was a huge issue. Started tracking. Joined “Just give me 10 days” R231 in beginning of 8/2023. Here we are!
I learned MY choices created an emotional 🎢 roller coaster with yo-yo weight and fitness. My forever goal is to reach 130lbs as a ceiling. Pretty clear to me that once I reached a goal weight I would then relax/ drift backwards. So glad 145lbs was the max over the last nine years.
I also noticed that as I age it becomes much MUCH more difficult to lose weight. I could loose 15lbs easy in 6 to 8 weeks up to 2020ish … This is absolutely not true anymore!!!!

12/27 - 154.0 - Well that didn't work out quite like I had hoped. I'm still lower than last round's end weight so I'm happy for the progress. We did eat lunch out as we were running errands - it was a challenge to find low carb items and, being Asian cuisine, comes with the water retention. I was on the higher side for lunch but breakfast and dinner were very low so I met my goal of less than 30g net carbs all day. I'm guessing that's what was a problem. I also woke up horrifically thirsty this morning and that's a sign I need to flush excess out. I'm fully back to work today and tomorrow so I'll be back on habits. I ended up just walking the dogs yesterday and following my run plan today and Friday (high carb days) to balance. Up the activity on days my eating is likely higher calorie/carb. Today's run is uphill sprints. Eek! I really dislike hills. Dinner is steak with butter noodles (LittleBro's favorite) and asparagus. No idea on lunch yet but there's plenty of leftover ham. Need to keep eye on portions. See you next round!
Previous Day's Comments12/18 - Had a giant jump up due to salt and water retention yesterday for my round end weight. Quite alright since it was also normal eating day Saturday and we had Fam over. Haven't seen them in nearly a month and won't see them again until the New Year. Oof! It was nice to see them though and I'll accept the weight from that little get together. Yesterday was a low carb day and I obviously dropped right back down. Today is normal eating day with a run planned once it gets light enough. Hoping to keep mindful and intuitive about my eating choices. I can see changes in normal eating habits happening already so that's really good (: I need to lower my "normal" eating day carb intake in general anyway. Also need to slim down my portions, I certainly eat too large of portions more often than not. Here's to continuing this journey with all of you!
12/19 - I stayed stagnant after a "normal" eating day! Whoohoo! I was, honestly, trying to be mindful of my eating and did really well until I had to unexpectedly work late. I was late coming to the dinner table to eat and grabbed a soda to help wash food down rather than taking the extra time to refill my water bottle. Oh well. I think I ended up only drinking 1/4 of the soda and poured the rest out so I could have herbal tea instead once I finished up with work. I ended up at 120 carbs for the day. I was hoping to stay under 100 but that soda did me in. Plus BF (who had to cook sides - usually my job) had corn and mashed potatoes as sides - carb loading much? Today I'm going to try for a quick strength workout - probably just bodyweight like pushups and squats, planks and lunges. I'll walk the dogs. Thinking of walking them over lunch like I did yesterday. It was much nicer out (read: warmer and sunnier) and it was a very much needed mental break from work. We shall see how today goes, work-wise. Club sandwich on lettuce for lunch, keto white chicken enchiladas for Taco Tuesday dinner. Breakfast I'm thinking I'll make a ham, egg, cheese sandwich on lettuce if I need to eat before lunch.
12/20 - I'm calling that maintenance. Although I was hoping to see another drop after a low carb day, I'm happy with that. Getting out of bed this morning I nearly fell - my legs are super sore! I guess my strength workout (which didn't feel terribly challenging at the time) was more impactful than I realized for my muscles. Dinner was also full of dairy and I forgot to take my lactose pills. Between the soreness and dairy, I'm surprised I'm not up! Hopefully that means, if I behave today, I'll see a drop in the coming days. Today's run is 10 min jog warmup then 5 rounds of strides (30 second increasing speed run, 1.5 min walk). Still have some beef stew I thawed out for lunch and dinner is homemade Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. Still keeping an eye on carbs - "normal" days I'm still aiming for around 100g but under 150g net so I don't go overboard. As long as I keep snacking under control, I should meet that goal. I was at 120g net carbs on Monday and that involved a lot of boredom snacking.
12/21 - No hugs needed - carb day jump. Also probably wine. I woke up to a wine headache even with just one glass. Sometimes wine really hits me hard (like last night/today) and sometimes it doesn't. I got unlucky this time around. Water was at 80oz and I drank it with dinner so not on an empty stomach. Oh well. Still very sore in my legs/glutes from Tuesday's strength workout. It is raining right now so I may walk on my walking pad and plan to take the dogs before lunch since it's supposed to rain again right around the end of lunchtime. Low carb day so I'll be making both BF and I lunch and I'd rather go BEFORE so I don't accidentally end up in the rain haha
12/22 - I'm starting to figure out low carb a little too well. I was under goal (26g net, goal is 30g net max) but over calories for the day. According to MFP I was 300 calories over while my net carb tracker has me at 150 calories over (exercise included). While that still may be a deficit, I need to be careful of it! Today I'll be running 2.5 miles for an assessment in my 10k training app. It's been a long while since I've ran over 2 miles continuously on this app so we'll see how it goes. BF and the boys leave about 9-10am this morning to swap kids for next week. He and the younger two won't be home until about dinner time tomorrow night so I'm on my own. He's not trying to do low carb while traveling which I get. We shifted our next low carb day to Sunday for him. Since I'm home and on my own (minus dogs) I'm going to aim for lower carb - hoping to keep under 50 today and under 100 tomorrow. Tomorrow's dinner is a big carb heavy request so I'm giving myself a bit more of a window due to that. The next big splurge is a blueberry lemon "cinnamon roll" for breakfast Christmas morning for the kids. I've never made it so I have to try it - I'm trying to offset that early this weekend!

12/26 - Merry (belated) Christmas! No hugs needed, we had a feast which included plenty of salt (ham) and not near enough water. Back on track today despite being 'off' work (I have to check in for an hour since I work 9 hours and only have 8 off). Today is low carb day so I'm making steamed chicken dumplings in cabbage for lunch and tonight will be street tacos on some 0 net carb tiny tortillas I found. I'm also running this morning once it gets light enough out and then taking the dogs for a walk. Hoping today's water plus diet, plus run will drop yesterday's bloat for end of round tomorrow.7 -
Thrilled to be in my fourth Round. I haven't been this long in an eating routine in many years. Not sure why this is working for me. I know that Carbs are my weak point, so I have designed an eating plan that avoids or minimizes them. I try to shop for my plan daily at the same time. Holidays treats surround me. I am avoiding the places that will get me in trouble (staff lounge). This round I am adding water and tracking it. I may be a little dehydrated. Let's find out. Nothing changes if nothing changes.

Day/Weight/Comment
12/18 – 128.8 Tracked pretty well yesterday. I’ll consider that a win at the moment.
12/19 – 129.0
12/20 – 129.2 Walking a fine line.
12/21 – 127.6 Ate fairly well yesterday. Did not “track”. Xmas just got simplified. Xmas even was just canceled as the host family just tested positive for COVID.
12/22 – 128.0
12/23 – 129.2
12/24 – 128.8
12/25 – 130.8
12/26 – 129.8
12/27 – 129.4 Reporting to the group and tracking were not great this round. But again, I have continued to step on the scale, so there is no denying what I am doing and the consequences.

65 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 245 (my 175th). Thank you @quiltingjaine for the new round, as always, so grateful.
Goals for this round to, stay strong over the festive period, holiday abroad (20 days!).Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

12/20 138.8 – pleased to see this number, it was our Christmas lunch yesterday for my DSs & a couple of FF, a real lovely girlie festive time. We all had a carvery choice was large, medium, or small; my NSV I chose small and was very selective with my veggies, had a glass of wine instead of a sweet, felt really satisfied. Only ate fruit in the evening, didn’t need anything else. 6.56 miles walked, all exercises calories plus 346 eaten.
12/21 140.4 – 10.85 miles yesterday, 80% exercise calories eaten back.
12/22 140.4 – no structured walking as child minding little DGS.
12/23 DNW – out super earl to complete Christmas food shopping. 10.85 miles walked all exercise calories eaten back plus 3 glasses of rosé wine, out at SIL and partners, no control over food served.
12/24 142 - 😱, so difficult this time of year, I just love food 😪. 12.63 miles walked, 65% of exercise calories eaten back.
12/25 Merry Christmas 🎄🎁🎅🥳
12/26 DNW - took a Xmas break!!
12/27 DNW - we are away in the caravan so no scales, trying to get back to normal eating today.
👍👍This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE & I AM WHAT I EAT!!!!!6 -
I'm Julie. 35 years old. Married. SAHM to two year old twins.
SW RND 245: 135.6 (end of last round).
12/18: 136.1. Oops, not starting off in the right direction. I started baking the Christmas cookies. I may have sampled a few too many. I also didn't go to the gym because my husband worked late. I went for a short walk, but nothing big.
12/19: 139.1. Holiday eating has arrived. Baked more Christmas cookies. I know I didn't gain 3 pounds of fat over night. I'm not going to stress about it until after Christmas. I'll be up some, but no real damage I won't be able to undo in the next round.
12/20: 138.0. I felt kinda sick most of yesterday. Just did a short walk. Eating wasnt great. But that's okay for now.
12/21: 136.2.
12/22: 133.9. Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow! I was not expecting that woosh. While a happy surprise, I'm not taking my weight too seriously for this round. My only goal is to post here every day. I'll have to wait see where it ends up after all of the holiday meals.
12/23: 136.4. No idea what happened to loss yesterday. But today is our first Christmas gathering. I'm going to try to eat reasonably but not stress it. I'm fully expecting my weight to be high tomorrow. And I'm okay with that.
12/24: 137.5. Round one of Christmas is done. No exercise. Today we have brunch with my in-laws.
12/25: 137.2. Round two of Christmas is done. We are spending some time this afternoon with some close friends, so another holiday meals. Again, not worried about calories, just enjoying the day. Back at it tomorrow, through.
12/26: 135.4. More water fluctuations. I'm glad I didn't gain during the holidays though. Now it's time to get more diligent and lose the rest of the weight.
12/27: 137.2. I had more chocolate than was necessary. Just a short walk. I need to get back on track and stop the bouncing around. I'm planning on getting back to the gym tonight, although I am dreading it. I took too much time off and now it's hard to take the leap to get back.
I'm proud of myself (and all of you) for sticking with it this round. It may not have been perfect, but I didn't give up. I hope to see some results next round though.5 -

Day, Weight, Comment
12/18 - DNW
12/21 - DNW
12/27 - DNW
Well, here we are at the end of my “vacation” and tomorrow I resume tracking. I’ll resume weigh ins on the 31st for an end-of-year number. I know I’m up an embarrassing amount since last year, but this little break has been good and I really finally feel ready to revise the menu, as it were. The biggest change I need to make, with which I’ve been wrestling for years now, is snacking after dinner, so that’s a priority. I’m going to try to have some mindless knitting project I can use to keep my hands and head busy watching tv. Also, I’m sorry I unloaded yesterday. Otoh, doing so cleared my thinking a bit and I didn’t eat all the emotion my friend’s behavior has stirred in me. It’s nice to have a safe place for such things! So thanks. ❤️ See you next round!

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas. I am ready for the next round and will see you there!

12/27 -179.2- (Trend weight 179.2) I am up 0.6 lbs this round and we haven’t even had our true family Christmas Feast yet! Oh, but all the celebrations all around! It will be a very busy rest of the week for me. I hope to stay as mindful as possible but there is a trip out-of-town either today or tomorrow. I have to go to a hospital to submit blood for my A1C check before a January endocrinologist appt. This has been a tough round, for sure. It’s great to see everyone picking the reins back up and getting back in control so quickly! See you next round.
