@Sett2023 (and anyone else who’s interested) Check out the Ultimate Accountability Challenge! It is a group that focuses not on weight loss, but on building daily habits which will sustain our weight and health in the long term. We have members who are losing weight, and others who have been maintaining for years.

Starting a little late but I want to lose and not gain in the homestretch of 2023.

    December start weight 186
    December Goal weight 179
    Ultimate goal weight 130

    12/15: 187
    12/22:
    12/29:
    12/31:184.8

A couple weeks ago I checked out the message boards on MFP after thinking maybe doing this (participating in message boards with complete strangers)would help me get healthier and stay healthier. This December challenge has helped…if even just leading me to join a MFP BLC challenge which starts on 1/3. I am amazed at how structured it is and will require discipline and time to sculpt out a healthier version of me. Best wishes to all of you in 24. I am determined to reach my goal in this 12 week challenge and eventually reach my goal weight some time in 2024.

Hanging my head. Holiday dinner with my daughter & SIL last night did a big number on my poor body. Those homemade sweet sriracha nuts definitely didn't help.....made me drink more wine....lol Thank goodness tomorrow is a clean start. Forget the past and move on.

@Sett2023 I’m thinking of starting a similar body recomposition/measurements challenge next year for people who eat at maintenance. I haven’t seen a check-in thread like this, but found the weekly numbers check-in helpful.

…expecting to reach my weight goal in March, after that, I will work on losing fat and building muscle while eating at maintenance.

There is a "maintainer check in" discussion every month. There's one that just started for January: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10906102/january-2024-maintainers-check-in

Heaviest weight: 175.4 in early 2013.
Original MFP starting weight (January 2018) - 168.2
    November 26 (Starting Weight): - 157.4 (10-day average 157.0)
December goal - Get back into maintenance weight range.
    Ultimate goal - Range between 143 - 153

I report scale weight and (ten day average weight), and I post on Saturdays.

    November 26: 157.4 (10-day average 157.0)
    December 2: 158.6 (10-day average 156.1)
    December 9: 155.0 (10-day average 156.1)
    December 16: 151.8 (10-day average 152.8)
    December 23: 155.2 (10-day average 153.2)
    December 30: 156.0 (10-day average 155.8)
    December 31: 154.8 (10-day average 155.7)

Total loss for December: I lost only 1.3 pounds in December - that would average about a third pound a week if it was steady, but it wasn't. Up and down... as usual

My average weight for the month was 154.7 - about 1.6 pounds less than my average weight for November. That's good.

My average weight for 2023 was 154.5 - about a pound and a half more than my average weight for 2022. That would be OK if I'm at maintenance. If I adjusted my maintenance goals, I'd consider myself much more successful, and my average weight for the year is in that maintenance range, but I've wandered far from it over the year. Far far away. Work in progress as usual.

My ten-day average weight at the end of 2022 was 150.2. Clearly by that metric I gained 5.5 pounds in 2023. So many ways to slice it.... If I lose only a half pound per month, in one year I'll be back to where I was at the end of 2022, which was a pretty good place.

The main thing is that I will be sticking to it in 2024. Will you?

My name is Donna. I am 63 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5’ 5” tall. My highest weight was 253 back in 2016. My MFP start weight was 235 in 2018.

    Start Weight (from Nov 30, 2023 ): 181.4
Goal Weight: 177.4 (4 pound loss)

    End of Challenge Weight: 183.8
Ultimate Goal Weight: 145-155 (I’ll know it when I get there!)

Weight in blue makes me blue because it’s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because it’s a loss. Weight in black means no change.

    12/01-181.4-(Trend Weight: 189.1)-

    12/03-182.0-(Trend Weight: 181.9)-

    12/10-179.6-(Trend Weight: 180.7)-

    12/17-178.6-(Trend Weight: 179.6)-
12/24-178.4-(Trend Weight: 179.4)- It’s been a rough week when it really should not have been food-wise. Our family dinner is not until the 30th and I haven’t even started baking yet, so really there is no excuse. I am down a smidge from last week so I guess I shall be grateful. It’s just a tough time of year and I shouldn’t be using the Season as an excuse for bad habits and behaviors. If I’m going to do that, it should at least be during our family feast! My next weigh-in will be the morning after the feast which will not end the week (or the year) well. But it will only be a temporary inflated weight with sodium retention etc. so I may wait an extra day and come back and weigh on the 1st instead for the year end tally. Merry Christmas to you all.

12/31-183.8-(Trend Weight: 180.2)- ”Pulling hair out on both sides of head” Yiiikesssss! It looks like I’ve got my work cut out for me!!!!! You are NOT GOING TO BELIEVE what my secret Santa present was. (We buy for children and draw names for adults only). Get ready for this…..Hundreds of dollars worth of Chocolate!!!! It is designed to be 365 days of chocolate with a piece (or a serving as listed) for each day of the coming year. Every expensive and fancy brand you can think of. And my secret person was MY FOODIE DAUGHTER that is here so often. Excuse me….how many talks have I had with her 100 pound frame about how I am trying to improve my diet and LOSE WEIGHT? Has she forgotten that I am a DIABETIC? By the way, NOT ONE PIECE is sugar-free chocolate. It was accompanied by multiple bottles of Asti and some very nice lotion. She had purchased a wrapping paper hanging tote thingy and filled the clear pockets with the poison. It was so heavy that she had to have one of the men carry it in for her. WTH? I must tell you that my daughter is the type of person who could actually just eat one small piece or one little truffle per day and have no problem stopping at one. I am not. I am trying to formulate a plan. Simply freezing it will not work as I have no problem melting chocolate in my mouth. On top of all that, I’m still loaded down with Christmas Cookies and fudge from our gathering as well. My head has been spinning since I opened the gift last night! Help! My year end reflection: I lost a total of 16 pounds in 2023. I also learned to eat some new foods that are good for my health and my waistline! Happy New Years Eve, my friends. Stay safe out there!

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

Month 3 now of setting challenges for myself. November was not as successful as I’d liked but still successful. I credit this group for making me accountable.
Great way to keep focus throughout the holidays.
    December Start Weight: 210
    December Goal Weight: 205
Ultimate Goal Weight: 199 for now

    December 1:210
December 8:206 I’m confused by this but I’m not hopping on the scale for a recheck. 🌲
December 15: 209 I think I may have eaten an extra cookie or two recently ☃️ I feel just as confused by this as last week seriously. Eyes on my goal.
December 22: 207 forgot to weigh yesterday very busy time but I did today fingers crossed for my goal looks like I might make it but cookies and eggnog are still on my plate. 🍪🎅 Merry Christmas!
December 29: 210 well I enjoyed the treats but not the result 🤦‍♀️ I’m gonna try to plan healthier choices this weekend.
December 31 209 going in the right direction. What wild swings this month. Happy New Year everyone. 🎉

    Donna,

Can you donate the very nice chocolate to a food bank or a soup kitchen? I bet there are lots of people around who would be grateful for one serving of very nice chocolate. You can't do that with the Asti, but I have a plan for that too. Go to a local tavern or two and leave a bottle with the barkeep to pour for their regular customers as a special year-end treat. Keep the lotion.

    @deepwoodslady - this is a great idea!
