Nice run @chris_in_cal .
Great run @tarun_yadavA . I hope you have a great day in the office.
You are doing great @Laurz9191 . I hope you get to get out for a run tomorrow.

Hi everyone! I didn’t have much time today- not enough time to put on enough layers to brave the freezing outdoor temperatures like @yirara , so I got a quick 6km recovery run in at the gym. I’m hoping for a longer run outside tomorrow.
So far 41.6/200km for January.
This was me yesterday (and today). Looks like Wednesday and Thursday are going to be the only outside running days this week 🥶 💨6 -

05.01 7°C 2.1km 17min 8:03/km fast
07.01 -2°C 4.2km 34min 8:12/km 1min intervals x 9
09.01 -4°C 5.4km 45min 8:18/km slow run

29.60km/80.5km
Woohoo! Today was interesting! So I'm doing this 10k running programme. I chose the slowest possible finish time, which is to be honest still too fast for me. But anyway. Today was 3 intervals of 3 minutes at better than target pace and 5 very short sprint bursts. I managed it!!! The weather was fab again and I wish the weather remained so lovely dry, cold and windstill. Also, today I did not overcompress my lower legs. So glad I did run today and didn't wait until tomorrow because I just felt like running today, and I noticed this positive boost.

WOW! the wind last night kept me awake almost all night. It was gusting over40 mph or more I guess from the north. I kept waiting to hear my fence or trees falling but I guess the past few Feb ice storms have really cleaned up the weaker branches. My power kept blinking off and on which was also annoying. Anyway, finally about 6 am it settled to under 20 or 30 and I decided I would get a run in since next week it appears we might have ice and mid teens to deal with and I prefer to not get out on ice.
Anyway got 5 miles in today and my legs are somewhat recovered from the weekend. I really think rotating shoes is helpful as is changing up pace and HR zones in keeping your body guessing.
Trying using the tracker as a snapshot for variety.

January Goal: 125 miles
1/1: 3.26 miles
1/2: 6.02 miles
1/3: 6.26 miles
1/4: 6.10 miles
1/7: 10.02 miles
1/9: 6.04 miles
37.70/125 miles
I ran 6 miles this morning. It was a surprisingly good run. It was 36°F feels like 24°F which is really cold for me, but the worst part was the 25mph NNW winds. It made it seem even colder. I wore a t-shirt with sleeves and a jacket and a buff today. The buff actually helped and it stayed over my face when I was running into the wind. I was cold starting out, but really fairly comfortable all things considered. I didn't see any deer today, but I did see a fox. And the moon was really pretty too.

Aww, thanks a lot. So happy to hear I'm not the only one loving this weather.2 -
Woohoo @yirara . Glad you had such a good run today! You are killing your program.
@SummerSkier I had the same weather here last night - very heavy winds that kept me up a lot last night - between the wind and Tippy trying to get me to go into my walk-in closet to be safe. Great running today. I won't run on ice either. I know we are many many miles apart, but our weather sure sounds like it is going to be the same. I really dread the below freezing all day temperatures. I still can't get the ticker to work for me.
@kgirlhart I commend you for getting out and running in that weather.

I'm feeling better today, but my tummy is still not back to normal. I also didn't sleep the best again, mostly because of the wind and Tippy needing to be reassured that the twigs hurdling into the house was okay. I took it easy again today, but did manage to get in a short run - second one of the year. I did a run/walk of 3/2 min at 4.2-4.7/4.0 mph, so slower than I would have liked, but at least I did it. Avg HR was 126 with a max of 146 bpm. It was harder than it should have been, but I'm sure because of not sleeping, eating, or drinking as I should for almost a week.7 -
@kgirlhart I forgot to mention about the moon. It was amazing. This little sliver in a clear blue Dawn I find it fun that we were both looking at the same moon this morning.7
-
Dang @quilteryoyo I hope you can find a way to finally get some sleep and start feeling better! A week is way too long!
@kgirlhart @SummerSkier @yirarathat cold and windy weather is torture for me to run in. I applaud you (and everyone else) for getting out there 👏👏
6 TM miles for me yesterday, and 5 more today. Yes, I am a weenie.

Jan total: 38.8 miles
YTD: 38.8/1200 miles

1/4: 6 miles
1/5: 4.5 miles

I ♥️ taper week! I know some people get antsy and find all kinds of things to worry about but I really enjoy a break in the mileage and workouts. It feels like a little reward for months of training. And I love how fresh I feel on every run. Easy miles with a few strides at the end today after work. It was about 50F, which is a really lovely afternoon temp.
And now for a race day weather update. It's looking amazing! Right now the forecast is upper 30's at race start and I expect it will be no warmer than mid 40's by the end. I need to find some throwaway clothes for the corral and I'm definitely putting some warm clothes in my gear check bag for after the race. These temps are great for racing but it will get cold fast if I'm sweaty and standing around.9 -

I too always loved taper week @martaindale - like you said, felt like a reward for all the training effort. It also rested up the body before a big race. The race day weather sounds great for the run!
Wishing you all the best!

Lousy weather outside all day today and my ankles hurt from using the treadmill too many days in a row. So, took a rest day.7
-
Good morning everyone 😊
Got in 4.36M at 09"33 pace.
(10 day consecutive streak + 50 miles up!)
Cold here. Starting to get icy9 -
Cold here! Brrrr… I went on a 12.1km run this morning. It was beautiful but oh so painfully cold! I’m like @scott6255 - I was actually missing the treadmill this morning. I saw a hawk and lots of mist coming up off the river.
Then, when I was just 250 meters from finishing, I tripped over a piece of frozen dirt and fell down hard onto the asphalt, cutting open my palm and knocking the heck out of my knees. First thing I did before assessing the damage? Stop the time on my Garmin of course . The good news is I fell straight down and didn’t twist anything, AND, my favourite (and only) really warm pants weren’t ripped.
So far for December 53.7/200km.
@martaindale I also love the taper and find it to be a reward before the final showdown .9 -

How cold was is? The weather is still cold, dry and fairly non-windy here. Did three runs in a row and feel like going out again tonight for a short run just to make use of it before it gets warmer and windier again. I just love this central European winter weather.4 -

So ehm... running for four days in a row is a bit too much, still wanted to go out and enjoy the nice weather one more time. So decided on a slow recovery run, and went fast. Yeah. 🤣

02/01 3.52 miles
03/01 3.56 miles
04/01 3.50 miles
06/01 4.03 miles
10/01 3.53 miles
Total 18.14/50 miles
I really struggled to get myself out for this run. The weather is calm and bright but really cold and I'm feeling stiff and miserable and low in energy even though I'm not sick. At least it’s done.
@Laurz9191 - sounds like u had a bad fall, hope you're ok7 -
Weather here is not working in my favor. I’m still at 14/100mi and haven’t run in a few days.. snow, ice, rain, then flooding in my area (and driveway)
Instead of feeling discouraged I’m just going to adjust my target to 50miles because I didn’t take into account the weather but of course will be happy if I make more. Fingers crossed everything clears up at least a little bit tomorrow before the next storm comes through!

Thanks @Scott6255 . I agree that a week is enough. I still didn't sleep good last night, so just feeling pretty exhausted at this point. I keep trying and hope tonight will be better. You are not a weenie.....well, if you are, so am I.
@martaindale I'm glad you are enjoying taper week. It sounds like you have a great plan for race day and the weather is going to be good for you. It will get cold when you are sweaty after the race.
Thanks @daria0919 . I hope your ankles feel better tomorrow. Nice run today. I guess the rest day worked. Do be careful with the tree limbs. It's scary to be running/walking and hear that crack.
Nice run @tarun_yadavA . Be careful in the ice. Do you have to drive to get places, or can you walk to get the things you need. Around here, in a rural area, we have to drive, so when they forecast ice/snow the grocery stores are swamped with people buying stuff - like it is going to be weeks before they can shop again. In reality, it is rarely 3 days.
Oh wow @laurz9191. Of course you stopped the Garmin first! I hope after the assessment and time has passed that you aren't too sore and your knee and palm are okay. That is very cold for a run.
Nice running @yirara .
@Mari33a Great job getting out and running when you really didn't feel like it. That takes a lot of gumption.
@kbrown1527 I hope the weather clears up and you can get out for a run later in the week.4 -

I still didn't sleep the best last night. My tummy seems to be mostly ok, but the sleep thing is getting out of hand. Hopefully tonight will be better.
Mom had an appointment this morning and we ran some errands afterwards. After I got home, I chose to walk one mile on the treadmill to keep the streak going. To be honest, part of the reason I quit at one mile was that we are going to church tonight and I didn't want to sweat. But, I was also very tired and just decided to take another day to rest up and finish healing.6 -

Another 6 miles this morning. It wasn't as cold today. It was 41°F, but 19 mph winds made it feel like 33°F. It was better than the 25 mph winds yesterday though. I really hate wind. It is supposed to be 7°F feels like -5°F. I am really not a fan of winter. Hopefully it won't last too long.
@daria0919 I think taking a rest day is the smart move.
@Laurz9191 I hope you're not too sore. Glad you were able to stop your Garmin and not rip your favorite pants. Priorities.
@quilteryoyo I'm sorry your stomach is still bothering you. I hope you are able to get a good night's rest and feel better soon.

I wanted to run at the lake this morning to see if there was any wind damage. There are a lot of big, old trees there and it was very windy last night. But I had/have a head cold and felt rotten so I did an easy mile at the field house. I am getting behind in the mileage this month and need to get caught up.
Tomorrow is my birthday and I plan to run early. We are going to the daughter and son-in-law's house late tomorrow afternoon. I should feel better. Hopefully.
1/1 - 1 Mile. Lakefront Park. 28F, Partly cloudy.
1/2 - 1 Mile. Crazy laps.
1/3 - 3.09 Miles. Field house. 126-day streak.
1/4 - 1.09 Miles. Field house.
1/5 - 1.28 Miles. Neighborhood. 27F
1/6 - 3.48 Miles. Neighborhood. 32F Cloudy.
1/7 - 1 Mile. Crazy laps. Snow.
1/8 - 1.09 Miles. Field House.
1/9 - 3.09 Miles. Field House. Tough, Good.
1/10 - 1.0 Mile. Field House. Streak keeper.

Dang, lots of folks feeling sick here @emptydog @quilteryoyo @Mari33a and anyone else I missed. Hope you all start feeling better soon!
I put myself in that camp too. Felt sick all day, and told myself I should skip running and go home and go to bed. But right before I left work I started feeling better, and since today and tommorow will be the last several days of good weather, I decided to go out.
In my brain fog, I forgot to start my watch until I had been running for at least a mile, so my 7 miles was at least 8.
But it felt decent. Probably shouldn't have worn old retired shoes, but did for some unknown reason. Again, probably brain fog. Going to try to go to bed early tonight.
7 -
Thanks @kgirlhart . You are doing great running in the cold.
@emptydog I hope you feel better tomorrow and that you have a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Oh no. I'm sorry you aren't feeling well today @Scott6255 ! I hope you feel better tomorrow and that wearing your old shoes doesn't bother your legs. Sleep well.2
