January was a good start to the new year. Looking forward to making some progress in Feb. I enjoy walking outdoors daily, 8000 steps is my daily goal. I'm low carb, not keto but under 50 gm a day for sure. Best of luck to everyone lets do it to it.

Was hoping to lose 10 in January but didnβt - might have been too zealous since I lost 5 and that was with being sick. But I am going for 7 to get in the 180βs even if it is the top end π€£

My name is Donna. I am 63 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5β 5β tall. My highest weight was 253 in 2016. My MFP start weight was 235 in 2018. I will be continuing my weigh-in dates on Sundays. It helps keep me accountable on the weekends.
Start Weight (from Jan 31st ): 181.6
Goal Weight: 177.6 (4 pound loss)
End of Challenge Weight: xxxxx
Ultimate Goal Weight: 145-155 (Iβll know it when I get there!)
Weight in blue makes me blue because itβs a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because itβs a loss. Weight in black means no change.
02/01-183.4-(Trend Weight: 183.0)- WTH? I did NOT expect this. Could it be the travel & restaurant from two days ago? Could it be the birthday celebration complete with cake/ice cream catching up? Could it be day 2 of no TMI? Could it be the worst sleep last night that Iβve had in years? Maybe itβs all one big ball of wax (or fat) all rolled up into one. In any case, I feel cheated when I probably shouldnβt. Looks like Iβll be spending much of this challenge chasing my own tail.

February is going to be fun for me. Looking forward to celebrating three different milestones:- 0.1 lb away: complete my first 70 lbs of weight loss (possibly by tomorrow!).
- 1.1 lb away: reach Onederland.
- 4 lbs away: dropping below BMI of 35 to land in the garden-variety obesity category (currently I'm considered extremely obese).

Hi everyone!
I did this challenge for a few months when I first started my weight loss journey back in 2022 and really enjoyed it! Unfortunately, four months in, I broke my foot and spent the next three months in a boot and another two months in recovery and ultimately fell off the wagon. Well, I'm ready to get back at it! I'm going to weigh in once a week on Fridays Best of luck to everyone!

Iβve been trying to lose weight most of my life and I only achieved once which was very slowly, around 1 kg (2.2 lbs) per month but at the end of the year I lost 15 kg (33 lbs) which was great. Now I try to do that again! I want to lose 30 kg now, which will take 2 years. My main focus is consistency and having healthier habits. Iβm not strict, itβs against my understanding, however sometimes I also want to see big changes in a short amount of time. But having higher expectations and comparing myself to others just have a negative impact on me. So Iβm here for small changes and a long commitment. Every month I expect to lose 1-1,5 kg loss. If I can do more, that would be great though!

Ok.....so I'm just about where I started January. The good news is that I didn't gain; so I guess there's that! LOL That's ok because I considered January a "practice month". Now that I have the gist of this, I can make some adjustments to my program.
Speaking of having to adjust to programs.....I just jogged 3.5 miles this morning. I normally only jog one mile....it's not fast.....and I don't like running to start with. However, my coworkers (firefighters) decided to start a thing where we now have a fitness challenge every week. Our very first challenge was a 3.3 mile lap around a big park nearby. Boy howdy! I did it! I wasn't fast, but I jogged my little, slow heart out! LOL!!! How much money do you want to bet that I will be super sore tomorrow??

Okay, so I need some help here.
What is on my mind: As a diabetic I want to protect my kidneys (protein is tough on them). However, as an older person over 60 and someone trying to lose weight, I want to protect my muscle.
When I google my recommended protein intake, all the calculators and manual mathematical calculations put me at about 65 or 66 grams per day. That seems low to me and so very easy to reach. And yet I read all the posts on so many challenges where people are eating protein bars, drinking protein shakes etc. trying to reach their goals. I'm confused. Even Harvard Medical School is recommending 65 gr per my weight.
I would love it if those of you that have time will chime in on this for me. I'm looking for your opinions as well as your knowledge and/or experience with it. I need to know if I should tweak my macros. Right now I have mine set for 25% which gives me grams that are often much higher than the recommendations.
Thanks for any help you guys can give. I am posting this on a couple of my challenges and look forward to any and all responses.
