I borrowed a jacket from my partner without giving it much thought. It’s a men’s medium and while it wasn’t a great fit it did close over my hips without issue despite the big hoodie underneath.15

I'm still making bad food choices when i let my self munch but I'm thinking about it before eating said food. I'm still at the whatever I don't care stage for the most part but there is at least conscious thought of what is going into my mouth. I also have logged most of my meals this week so far and some of the random munchy food. there is hope for me after all.
Hey, just getting out there is the key. My rule is I MUST start--b/c 9 times out of 10, I keep going. Starting is non-negotiable. And once you get comfortable at a certain distance and it's no big deal, it will be easier to add a bit. My base goal is a mile, and I generally do 2-3 total, walking for now due to knee problems but jogging until recently. I also wear at least one piece of "work out" clothes as my work clothes so I have less reason to sigh heavily that I "have to change," haha. I buy shirts that can double at work (teaching) and for walking or jogging (until they get "retired" to exercise only). I'm still looking for a smock dress with big pockets I can wear over Tees and leggings so all I have to do in cooler weather is whip off the dress and put on the right shoes. Like a uniform that transitions from day to exercise.
My NSV is being back here 2 weekends in a row. I am really trying this time around, not just telling myself I am.13 -
Having cut out sugar for good, my food tastes sooo much better now. I eat apples or berries for dessert instead of ice cream or pie, and I don't feel like I'm missing out. I can taste the sweetness of carrots, broccoli, and nuts. The other day I ate a few almonds and they legit tasted like marzipan, amazing. I feel like I can enjoy the entire range of food flavors now, from the savory to the (naturally) sweet, instead of constantly chasing after the sweet end of it and never being satisfied.16

Wow.
Take off the mask and look what's hiding underneath. Thank you for sharing that!2 -
My swimming pants are feeling loose. They're supposed to be tight. I will assume they are just stretching out from use, but I also think I could use a smaller pair.
Even if they're just stretching out, that's still a NSV because it means that I swam enough to wear out a new pair of jammers.
When I'm in stores, the smallest size I can find are the size I have that seems too big. Could it be true that I'm small enough to wear child size clothes? Holy crap.12 -
Reminded me of a nsv. OU (Oklahoma University) t-shirts were on sale in the boys department at Walmart the other day. I bought 2. Had to return one--too small. Kept the other one. I wore boys sizes in high school, not since then.6

I was heading down the sugar-cravings trail last night - not my routine path, but there it was. I realized that I was really, really fatigued: It was requiring intention even to put one foot in front of the other. Fatigue causes energy-seeking, energy-seeking leads to calorie craving, sugars are quick-energy calories. Poof, sugar cravings.
So I went to bed around 5 hours earlier than I've been going to sleep lately, slept for around 9 hours with only a few brief wake-ups (sleep interruption insomnia never ends . . . .).
I felt much better this morning.27 -
I'm here after not being here for a while and logged my food today. 🥳21

Colleague at work said to me as I entered the kitchen ‘Ah, here’s the shrinking woman’. I just replied ‘ thanks for noticing’ and she said she’d noticed the change a long while ago. A nice reminder.
Also, after aqua aerobics today the trainer sidled up to me, tapped me on the shoulder and told me I was ‘smashing it today, great job’. Must mean I’m doing something 🤪23 -
Today’s blood pressure at the doctor’s office: 120/65. That still counts as “elevated” but I’m only one point systolic away from normal! 🥳21

The diastolic number is more important, and you're ROCKING that.7

I really wanted dessert when we arrived at dinner last night. I ate a reasonable portion and recognized that I was feeling pretty satiated, and wanted to get my frozen yogurt after I finished shopping.
We finished shopping and i FORGOT my frozen yogurt. This girl never forgets dessert - especially frozen ones. My relationship with food is evolving and I'm so pleased with the sense of control I feel.
Also, I tried on dresses in my usual size last night to try to surprise my partner for Valentine's Day and they were BAGGY at my waist. I felt so proud. I still see myself 25lbs ago for the most part, but that was a major wake up that my body is gradually being whittled away. While that's not most important, it feels pretty *kitten* good.17 -
went in to the big guy store with a pair of 56" waist jeans and a 4x shirt on
i've lost a bit and stuff is starting to hang off me
the fella in the store has been helping me for years, he immediately noticed and complimented me
I suggested we try 50" and a 3x, he suggested 48" and 2x
his suggestion fit great, was nice to go to work the next day with clothes that fit properly, looked good on me, and didnt make me look like a little kid wearing his dad's clothes
being a big and tall shop, he paid me a compliment and said, i think i'll see you for the last time soon...he's right29 -

It's pretty amazing how folks who do this kind of thing for a living can judge your size pretty accurately. I have had that happen at the dive shop when looking for a wetsuit. They come in all sorts of sizes because they have to fit tight. Not just S, M, L, etc, but also short, long, or even in-between sizes. One of the staff looked at me and said, "Try this one." It fit. I could have gone one partial size lower, but this one was on deep discount because it was a previous year's colors. I don't think the fish care what color my wetsuit is.

BOOYAH! What an awesome NSV! Nice to have competent customer service from someone who sees you as a person, too. Enjoy your new clothes

Well that is indeed interesting. Either the guidance has changed, my memory is getting worse, or both!3 -

I'm confused, that reading looks perfect to me, what numbers are considered healthy then?
These are the norms I'm familiar with:
"high blood pressure, which is defined as systolic blood pressure of 130 mmHg or above or a diastolic blood pressure of 80 mmHg or above"2 -

I was actually also surprised that 120/65 isn't considered normal. But the numbers I've seen define normal blood pressure as below 120/80. (If one of the two numbers is above the threshold, that's the one that counts.) Above the normal range comes elevated blood pressure, and then high blood pressure. So you're correct that my reading isn't high enough to be considered high blood pressure; but it is considered "elevated."
Here's a chart from the American Heart Association:
and one from the Mayo Clinic:
1 -
Blood pressure varies throughout the day. I personally get white coat hypertension; I am scared of doctors. So medical readings can be slightly high for me.
So a single systolic reading of 120 doesn't sound alarming. However I am not a medical doctor, I am a random chap on the internet.3 -

It wasn't a single reading of 120 -- it was closer to 150 before I started losing weight. Yes, blood pressure varies throughout the day, and mine does tend to be higher at the doctor's office than at home. It's been below 120 for a while now when I take it at home, so I know I'm fine; but it has still been my goal to have it be "normal" at the doctor's office too. You know, just to have it on record.4 -
My blood pressure was borderline at the MD office for many years even though I was physically active and generally healthy. It was fine when I took it at home. I figured it was white coat syndrome, but after losing 30 pounds it is no longer high ever. I’m not sure if it was the weight or the diet habits, but I’ll take it!
My blood sugar leveled out as well. I was never diabetic, but nearly every member of my family is including both parents. I have had reactive hypoglycemia since I was a kid which is often a precursor to type 2 diabetes. (That’s when you eat something high in sugar and within a few hours you get weak and shaky because your blood sugar drops too low.) That completely disappeared with changing my diet.7 -
@EliseTK1 I second what you said about blood sugar. My A1C went from (just barely) “pre-diabetic” to right in the middle of the normal range when I changed my diet. It only took three months! Turns out all those doctors and scientists are right, who woulda thunk 😂5

I've been trying to lose at a pace of 8lbs per month, so around 2lbs per week. This last week I fluctuated a lot but ended on losing only .2lbs so that sucks. I likely won't reach 8lbs lost in the month of February.
BUT! My NSV is that I didn't let it ruin my week and took it as win and encouragement to keep going. I've also been really stressed and worked 60+ hours this week so I've been literally too tired to workout by the time I get home and go straight to bed (I have an active job and work 12 hour shifts on top of having 2 toddlers). My body needed the rest, I stayed at or below my calories, and it paid off! (At least a little)
Glad one week of rest didn't totally throw me off!14 -
I ran an entire 5k.
I often do 5k’s for my workouts, but they are usually a combination of running and walking because I didn’t think I would be able to run the whole time. This time, I set my pace, which was not fast by any means, but it was a steady pace and I just found my groove and went for it. I ran the whole time. Wahoo! Go me!26 -
I accidentily got around 17.000 steps today15

I bought some new skirts (getting close enough to my target weight to feel like I can invest in some more stylish options) and when I was hanging them up I realized that they fit the clamp hangers I have without folding in the sides.30

I woke up and had to take hubs to work this morning. There was no point in going back to bed afterwards, so I took my puppy on a walk instead. It felt great.25

Just saw my endocrinologist… instead of 4 times a day, I’m down to once a day insulin…. Exercise and better nutrition made that happen
I have a path to zero insulin with some benchmarks and a schedule in place…doc says… keep this up and you’ll be off insulin soon
<happy dance>33 -
@caffeinebuzz10 Congrats on your HUGE, MAJOR, very impressive progress! Keep up the good work!6
