Hi everyone!
Happy Birthday @ContraryMaryMary ! That sounds like a lovely place to run. I’m glad you could enjoy it!
@Scott6255 Good job on your long run. I hope you get your motivation level back up soon! Some to you @quilteryoyo .
@tarun_yadavA Good job on your long run too! It seems like you are bringing the final stretch of your streak to an end with a bang!
I was not feeling too motivated myself today. It’s a lot harder for me to get out when I don’t run first thing in the morning. I knew I wanted to do a couple long intervals and that it would be work. I got them done and my splits were good, even when running into the wind. So I am happy I won over my inner lazy sloth and got out and ran. I ran 10.3km.
98.2/250km for March.

March Goal: 130 Miles
3/1: 3.55 miles
3/3: 10.25 miles
3/4: 3.35 miles
3/5: 7.02 miles
3/6: 7.04 miles
3/8: 6.26 miles
3/10: 11.02 miles
48.49/130 miles completed for March
It was 35°F this morning when I got up. I really didn't want to get going. I couldn't decide what to wear. It was 40°F when I finally headed out in shorts and a t-shirt. I wore sleeves and fingerless gloves. I was dressed just right. I took off the sleeves and gloves after about 2.5 miles. It was a really pretty morning. It was chilly starting out and warmed up to about 58°F by the end, but it was never too hot or too cold. I ran 11 miles. I officially signed up for the 8 miler Possum's Revenge. So today even though I ran roads and not trails, I did run along the grassy sides of the roads as much as I could.
Happy Birthday @ContraryMaryMary. That sounds like a wonderful way to celebrate.

Here for my second Monthly challenge of the year.
Goal 85 miles:
3/1 - 2.82 miles
3/2 ‐ 12.01 miles
3/3 - Rest Day
3/4 - 3.02
3/5 - skipped run (stormy/rainy morning)
3/6 - strength training / planned rest day from running
3/7 - 3.47 - interval run.
3/8 - skipped run - my legs were burned out after strength training followed by interval run 🙁
3/9 - 3.28 miles - the run I was supposed to do on Friday
3/10 - 11 miles - was supposed to be 14 but ran with a new running friend and went faster than I had planned - ended early so that I didn’t completely burn myself out for the upcoming week. Felt good to be at a “faster” pace for a longer run - feel like there is hope for me to build back to where I was a year ago

Many happy returns for Friday @ContraryMaryMary
Nice work @Aquarian - keep it up!
We had signs of spring, and then the rains returned! Swapped long run days as the offspring were home for Mothering Sunday.
Really not sure how to approach going further with 5 weeks to the marathon. Slowed it down on Saturday to stretch out the miles. HR just keeps increasing and by mile 15 it was up at 160. Perhaps better carb loading on the day before would help. Any insights greatly appreciated.

Morning all
Got in 4M (at slightly slower 10"32). Took it easy
@daria0919 @Laurz9191 thanks ladies. 😊 Yeah just taking each day now and seeing how I am, eg if in the zone - I'll go for it.
(Max I can do is 88 anyway! Let's see! If I start feeling uncomfortable before then I'll rest up a day or two)7 -
March total: 25.1 miles
YTD: 226.3/1200 miles
3/2: 4.1 miles
3/4: 4.1 miles
3/5: 6.4 miles
3/7: 3 miles
3/9: 4.5 miles
3/11: 3 miles
Short run before work. Cool, dark, and quiet. ♥️ It's spring break week here so the traffic is also quieter. Only saw 1 person and a handful of cars.
I didn't run yesterday but my kid and I went for a walk at the greenway trail. We walked 5.6 miles. It was a beautiful day! I was glad to get them out of the house and off their phone for a bit. They liked the trail so maybe I can talk them into going on a walk with me again.7 -
Nice run @emptydog . I hope your appointment goes well today!
Great job overcoming your inner sloth and getting in a good run @Laurz9191 .
@kgirlhart Congrats on signing up for the Possums Revenge! Great running and I hope you enjoy the trails.
Great run @Leigh_b .
@TheMrWobbly I really don't have any insights for you. Maybe you just have to let your HR go above 160 bpm, unless there is a medical reason not to. What would happen if you walked a bit when it starts creeping up?
@martaindale Sounds like you had a great walk with your kid. I hope they will continue walking with you.
2 -
@TheMrWobbly The only thing I can think of is integrating walk breaks every x miles to get your heart rate down. Maybe try that on your next long training run. I think that would be the most effective way to get back into a lower he zone.
After going fast yesterday, I aimed to go slow today. It went ok, and the sun even popped out for a bit . I ran 9.2km. Tomorrow is long run day.
107.4/250km for March.

@ContraryMaryMary happy almost birthday!
@TheMrWobbly another vote for walk breaks when necessary. Also, it's perfectly normal for your HR to creep up after a while, it takes a lot of very slow aerobic training, a lot slower than you think or want, to change that much. Also, are you reading it on a watch or a chest strap? Watches are notoriously wildly inaccurate, I wouldn't worry about it much as long as you don't feel bad. Also, 160 isn't that high....
My race yesterday... I came second in my age group again, so now I have twin medals lol. Almost died, thank gawd it was a very short course! I also solved the mystery of the changing places... the reason I get 2nd place podium but then 3rd place on the lists is that the overall winner is in my age group. Kinda confusing and disorganised, they're not doing a very good job this year. The next race is April 14th, advertised as 5k but the new poster says 4.5. I suspect there will be hills involved. There is a point system and trophies for the entire series, I think I may be in with a chance of 3rd place if I survive.11 -
05.03 4.5km 36min 8:06/km - 12 stride repeats
06.03 6.2km 51min 8:12/km - 10, 5, 5, 5min intervals
08.03 7.0km 57min 8:09/km - slow
09.03 3.0km 25min 8:26/km - slow
11.03 4.2km 35min 8:16/km - slow
24.95km/80km, 3.8km behind
Hmm.. last two runs were shite again. No idea.8 -
Congratulations on your age group placement @eleanorhawkins ! I'm sure you will do great on the next race too.
@yirara Sorry your runs have been hard lately. Hang in there. It's bound to get better, right?3 -

I didn't post yesterday. I did a one mile treadmill walk before heading out for 2 hours of doubles tennis.
Today, I did a treadmill workout. I walked 0.75 miles each for warm up and cool down and then did some short intervals for 1.5 miles. I ran/walked 6 x (1/1 min at 6.0/4.0 mph), 2/1/3:15 min at 5.0/4.0 mph. Worked out to an avg pace of 12:10 min/mile. Avg HR was 160 with a max of 170 bpm. My HR was just running high today, for whatever reason. The warm up walk it got up to 137 bpm, when it is normally less than 110.7 -

I did not want to get out of bed this morning. The weather was ok, but it was dark and I didn't get enough sleep last night so I was tired and I wasn't really feeling it this morning, but I did run 3 miles. And I was glad I got it done. Hopefully tomorrow's run will be better.
Congratulations on your AG award @EleanorHawkins!

Did my long run today. First ca. 19km were good and fairly easy, then I started cramping up (glutes and calf in particular). I probably need to fuel more??? In any case I ran 26.7km. Next week I have my 20 mile/32.2km run planned. I’m hoping it will go well. I’ll try to make myself fuel more and see if it helps. I wore a light windbreaker jacket the whole way and my clothes underneath were absolutely soaked with sweat when I was done even though it’s only like 8C outside.
134.1/250km for March.

Musta missed it on MFP.

Running shoes arrived! @quilteryoyo they’re the same style as my previous shoes. They’ve changed them a bit, so I hope they still work for me. They’re ASICS GT-2000 12. Different color. Will take them out for a test run this afternoon.

I hope tomorrow's run is better @kgirlhart . You did great today. The time change makes it hard to get good sleep for a few days, I think.
Sorry your run was miserable @tarun_yadavA . Getting in 4 miles in those conditions is great. I can't believe you missed @SummerSkier 's calorie edit.
@Laurz9191 Sounds like you did great though. I hope you get the fueling figured out and your longer run goes well.
Love the shoe porn @daria0919 ! I really like that color. I hope they work out for you.3 -

Today's run was much better than yesterday's. I ran 6.25 miles. It was dark the whole time and a bit windy, but it was a pleasant enough run.
Love the new shoes @daria0919!

I don’t know what’s going on with me at the moment. I did my usual 8km loop this morning and once again it was just hard. My legs were ok, my lungs were ok, my heart rate was ok, but I just couldn’t. It’s not like I don’t want to run. I do want to run but it’s just difficult.
I’ve been assuming this is recovery from my three or four weeks off in January, but I would’ve expected after six weeks of solid running to be back to feeling good. Not sure why my recovery has been so slow.
I’m tempted to go and see my GP to have some blood work done. Alternatively, I could just stop running up bloody hills. The profile of my regular run 🤪 They call it Heartbreak Hill for a very good reason!9 -
@ContraryMaryMary I would also find it quite difficult if I had to run up a hill like that . That looks steep. Are there any flat places you can run until you find your running groove again? Hills are excellent training though .3

@ContraryMaryMary I would def find a different route! At least for the majority of the week. But you do you!
Had a pretty good 10K run this morning. Had an extra day off because I played golf with my son yesterday instead of running 😄 Felt ok, but still need to take it easier most days.

Hi everyone,
I did a very easy 8.3km recovery run on the treadmill this morning. It felt really good, but my legs are looking forward to a rest day tomorrow.
142.4/250km for March.8 -

Progress 28/30 I can almost taste the goal!
March 1 Run 3km
March 2 Run 5km
March 5 Run 5km
March 11 Run 5km
March 13 Run 10km (happy news - I ran this in two spells of 5k, and the second 5k was my fastest at 29 min 25 seconds. Feeling really happy).9
