Rori - It was good to see your post, I'm so pleased the next visit with your gentleman friend is booked, and the fact that you're counting the days is an awfully good sign of how much he means.

And... got a call from Corey - he has an infection in his eye, and they're putting him on antibiotics and a cream that will hopefully help. He is (of course) going back to work because he's that guy, and he'll pick up the medications on his way back home. At least he's getting what he needs. This has gone on for weeks...

Home & garden stuff:

And the last of what's needed for Cor to build the raised beds was delivered a couple hours ago. We'll have to rig something like a long table for him to be able to rip the plywood down to 2x8 panels, but only four of them, so it won't be too hard. I say "we," but I can't even lift a 3/4" thick piece of plywood, so it's mostly all him. They're about 60 pounds each. I can just barely maneuver 60 pounds of something from one place to another, but there's no way for me to grab something that big. Watching him do it is, bluntly, kind of awe-inspiring.

The tree that fell will be a nice addition to begin the hügelkultur for the bottom of these beds. He's going to have quite a manly man's weekend chainsawing logs, ripping huge boards with the table saw, building boxes... I'm pretty much OK with standing by and just applauding. I don't mind helping, but a lot of it is just beyond me.

Did I mention that I also got the dumpster ordered to get the old boat hauled off? We have a 30-yard construction dumpster that will be delivered the first week of April and picked up and removed whenever we choose, up to 30 days later... or we can keep it for an extra $100 for 30 more days. We will rent a piece of heavy equipment to get the big stuff, like the boat, put into the huge bin. Should be enough to take the boat, the trailer, the siding Corey still needs to pull off the house, and the vast majority of the other things that generations of people have left on this land for the last 150 years or so.

I really need to get my ability to work back up to snuff so we can truly get these 11 acres cleaned of a large part of this mess. This may be my only chance! 👀😀😈

I think I mentioned my best friend won't make it for the eclipse, but she and her husband will be here on May 3rd and stay for about 8 days. They're living in Arizona, in a camper, parked on a friend's property, while she works through the remainder of the tax season remotely. If we still have the dumpster, I may enlist them to help with the cleanup. Might even be fun for them, just wandering around the acres - by then they will have been living in the camper for about eight months. It's even bigger than Pip & Kirby's, but living in a camper for long periods can wear on you, to say the least.

Dinner is going to be a hodgepodge of stuffed cornbread - taco meat, corn, cheese all kinds of various other things, added to cornbread batter and baked. Kind of a big ol' tamale, in the end. It's a favorite dinner, and turns out a little different each time, according to what's out there to add to it. Refrigerator cleanout kind of dinner.

And... I've been good and stayed still, and it's paid off in a day that has been mostly free from pain. I know my body needs it, but boy, my mind needs to be moving. Maybe I'll find a happy medium someday.

Carol - We cross-posted. I'm so sorry about your brother-in-law. I know that was a terribly hard decision for your husband to have to make. Thank you for the compliments on the picture.

Annie - Knowing how to protect your joints is important as we get more active. My knees and ankle are wrapped in flextape 24-7 now. I even sleep better with them supported.

My eye still hurts a bit, I think it’s more allergies than anything else. But it’s a real pain, with the bright sun down here my eyes want to close.

After the spinning workout wet on the elliptical for an hour. I guess my pedometer only registers steps if you pick your foot up. Then took a walk to the grocery store just to put some plastic bags in for recycling then to the dollar store to get a birthday card for Jess. On my way home stopped at the post office to mail the card. Then in the sun and pool only it stared to rain. Then again, this is Florida, in 5 minutes the sun was out.

Carol - I know BIL's care and decisions have taken a lot of your DH's time, and I think he went above and beyond what most would have done. Sympathies to the family. A small graveyard service sounds very nice.

Lisa - thank you for the info about the Genie bra! Just what I was looking for. Glad Corey saw a doc about his eye. That industrial size dumpster will be awesome, I understand the feeling of satisfaction when you folks finally get the place cleaned out/cleaned up. When you told us about that tree falling, I immediately thought - some else to put in the raised bed!

Corey is going to have a busy weekend.

Annie - glad to hear you are getting into weights. You'll find some routines that work for you. Sorry about your knee, it doesn't take much some days to get these joints acting up.

Tina - way to go with that 12 hour fast. Most of my meals these day are clean out the fridge/freezer and I've grown to like them.

Today was cooking day for me. I made a huge pot of mushroom/lentil stew, steamed a bunch of broccoli, sauteed a big skillet of chopped kale & collards, and am now sautéing chicken tenders in that skillet. That is many day's worth of meals and plenty will remain for the freezer. I'm not real fond of cooking anymore, but wanted to have something ready to go when I'm hungry.

And I didn't want the fresh collards and kale to go to waste. The hens love these greens so I figured I'd better prepare some for me and they can enjoy the rest.

I've kept the house very quiet the past few days. No radio, no TV. No music on the laptop. I love just hearing the sounds in my environment and in my yard - the robins are back, birds singing when the sun first comes up. Roger mowing. Rosie barking her lungs out at the mailman. Me yelling at Rosie to clam up.

Don't miss human contact at all.

I message my friend T and check up on you gals several times a day and that's enough right now. Thank you for sharing your lives.

Got my car towed to the shop. AAA got here less than 20 min after dh called(better than the almost 4 hrs it took Friday). Said the fuel pump was bad and it has to be replaced. It is in the gas tank so will be just over $1300 plus he might do the back brakes while he has the car(dh already bought the parts so will be just labor to put them in- his mechanic is good with him buying the parts, knows he will get a better price)
Will be glad to have it fixed but as we were at the bank getting the money out to pay for it, someone from work called to let him know that they have taken him off the schedule for now. He will work next week, his one and a half days but not this week and nothing going forward(for now).
This is because they stopped Dot.com(Safeway delivery)-no warning- went in last Tuesday morning and either let the whole department go or put them in other positions. Those people will be taking the hours dh was getting because he is a retiree and they need to give the others hours. He will use his vacation time to give them time to figure things out.
It is a bit loud here today- neighbors behind us are cutting back the juniper and ivy that is in their yard but hanging over the shared back fence- I am totally fine with them cutting it- Hoping they take back the huge branch that just fell in our back yard onto the shed. If not, I can get the chain saw out and cut it, or try and toss it back over the fence but may need help with that.

Carol-prayers for you and your husband. That is a very tough decision to make. The doctor who was with us when I made decision for husband told us there are some things worse than death and we knew what he meant. It is heart wrenching but also a release.

Sunny and dry here. Went to water exercise, got my car cleaned out and did a bit of gardening. Sinus infection seems to be improving. Tenant from Hades still here but avoiding us.

My day had some highlights. The visit to the attorney to update our wills took hardly any time at all because he invited us to bring Annie into the office while we talked so we didn't have to take turns talking to him and sitting in the car with the dog. Annie was very well behaved. The new wills and accompanying powers of attorney, etc. will be ready in a few days for a prince that we consider reasonable. Later in the day I made chicken soup and now have soup to freeze for four meals. Jake did some impressive work in the yard and I went on several longer than usual walks with the dogs.

Sorry I have been MIA. My son is out of his coma! He is still disoriented and weak, but he is awake. Thank God!

Thankful For:
I had my first office visit with my cardiologist Friday. The good news, all my blood work came back normal, with no indication of heart problems, and the cat scan showed no blood clots to my heart or lungs, or damage to my heart. The bad news, my original EKG showed a problem so he still wants me to go ahead and have the stress test, and heart ultrasound my GP scheduled for me this Friday. Just to make sure.

Of course my cardiologist wants me to lose weight. I told him I am working on it, and explained what foods I'm eating, and the types of exercise I'm doing. Told me It sounds like I'm on the right track, to just not push the exercise part, until we get the all clear from my upcoming test results. Any chest pain, to stop immediately and let him know.

Off to catch up on what you've all been up to. Have a beautiful week everyone!
