I'll just need to figure out when I'm in ketosis without relying on on strips, lol
By the time I bought strips I had been eating keto for about 6 weeks. They never changed color when I tried them. I bought a KetoMojo meter (amazon) and strips eventually and now have strips on auto ship from Best Ketone Test dot com. The people at BKT are awesome. I did not experience that when I contacted the people at
KetoMojo. Just my experience. No affiliation.2 -

@reshii_devi, I did use those urine strips when I began keto. They're really useless after your 1st significant rise in ketones. I knew I was in ketosis, or maybe I should say, my body was using ketones as fuel, when I could be around grain carbs and sweets and had no desire to eat them. Even fruit smelled extremely sweet to me.5

Comments pertain to the day before
3/27 – 137.5
3/28 - 136.5 Yesterday was a good day. Cleaned in preparation for the arrival of DGD#2 this evening.
3/29 - 136.0 DGD’s flight was delayed about 7 hours so I’m a bit sleep deprived. Today is DGD#3’s 21st birthday. Her mom woke her at 11:45 last night and took her for her first adult beverage and a chance to win at a slot machine.
3/30 - 134.0 I had 2 eggs for brunch and beef brisket for dinner. 3 sips of celebratory champagne at nail salon. DGD#2 spent the day and night with her cousins and aunt and uncle after the ladies got pedis and I got a mani.
3/31 - 134.0 Tried a place our daughter told us about that is owned by a friend of hers. All I ate all day were those 2 tacquitos.
4/1 - 136.0 Honey baked ham, 1/2 cup mashed potatoes and some roasted broccoli. I knew this was going to be a tough week with DGD#2 visiting and lots of eating out and didn’t even consider Easter. 4/2 137.0 Having an out of town family member visit turns into an eating festival. I don’t feel great (no TMI, in spite of Miralax) I’m so bloated.
4/3 - 135.5 Today - One more non-compliant day as my #2 daughter, DGD#2 and I go to Chocolate and Wine tasting at 4:30 at the Ethel M store/factory, followed by family dinner at an Italian restaurant (deep dish pizza)
4/4 - 137.0 I ordered Eggplants Parm - it was the worst eggplant ever. I didn’t know you could make tough eggplant. It was inedible so I ate the cheese and sauce off the top. The chocolate and wine tasting was interesting and fun. Too much salt, not enough water. Three pizzas of which I ate none. DGD#2 flies back to Iowa this morning.
4/5 - 136.5 Golden Corral this afternoon. I’m pleased with my AW being lower than my SW considering the circumstances.6 -

hmmmm ... I've felt like that occasionally, but not often enough, lol ~ I've been intermittent fasting 18-20+ hours several days per week regularly, but with carbs in the 70-100+ range most days. Hoping cutting carbs to 10-12%, eating my first meal earlier and ending last within circadian window will make a noticeable difference. Working on finding the balance of getting into deeper ketosis without losing muscle, weakening my bones or raising cholesterol with too much fat.3 -

Popcorn is my ❤️
I used to arrange a “girls day out to a movie” just because I wanted that giant bucket of popcorn and butter. The best part (LOL) was that I could get a refill to take home and share with DH. I don’t know why movie theater popcorn tastes so different.
Late to the party ladies, but theatre popcorn is the ONLY reason I'll go the movies, lol ... as I don't do it often, I look forward to it every time! 😋😋😋
I feel you @mjstewies ~ self motivation is hard!! I currently have this quote plastered everywhere to give myself a boost when I don't wanna move ... get's me up 8 outta 10, lol "When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don't adjust the goals, adjust the action steps. ~ Confucius

April 3rd: Uuuuggggghhhh .... of course! as soon as I increased my step goal, I've failed to meet it two days in a row ~ I did however get more time in the pool with an aquatic class and additional 20 laps, 30 minutes on the treadmill at slight incline, 5 minutes tripping over my feet jumping rope, lol and 5 minutes of kettle bell and battle rope exercises @ the gym.
STILL TO Do: Adjust dietary goals and menu planning/shop to include lower carb/keto choices after reading journal papers on brain and body metabolic benefits. Can't believe will be 58 in a few weeks and plan on looking/feeling my best! 🥳🥳🥳Reversing the clock baby!
April 2nd: Back in the pool after 5 days, I could really feel the difference! Weighing before and after, ironically dropped more than 2 pounds of what must have been water weight, lol
April 1st: Knew the extra carbs and alcohol would result in a bump today but okay about it as I exercised all weekend to offset. Would have been much worse without working out. Onwards!
March 31st: Away from home but have exercise bands and plan to use them!! Definitely allowing myself a few indulgences today and tomorrow, but hoping staying within BMR keeps any gains to 1-2lbs. Not trying to leave onederland!!! Have a great weekend all!
March 30th: A lot on my mind with no plans other than some much needed Good Friday fasting and reflection today. Happy Easter to those who celebrate! Have a blessed weekend filled with happiness and love.
March 28th: DNW ~ nothing to say
March 27th: was hoping for another drop, but happier there's no gain! @ lowest weight since 2018 and celebrating by upping the ante ~ increasing strength workouts and raising my minimum step count from 9 to 10K. Hoping to lose 2-3lbs and another 1-2 inches.8 -
R255 -25th
TBH- I give myself an “F” for this round. Food & 💦 was fine but didn’t reach my 🏋️♀️ or 📿 goals. Not even close. Or HB. I fell off the rails. Sure, I can blame vacation, but I brought my book, jump rope and resistance bands. They just sat in a bag. I will definitely focus next round.
Onward to R256. I am especially thankful for this group. Thank you all!🙏🤩
Give yourself some credit though, look how long you went without having cheat days! You still ate well on vacation and that is usually what gets most of us. And who wants to workout on vacation anyways? You're such a great inspiration!
I'm also thankful for you and this group as well ❤️❤️❤️
@Sweetzyd
Thank you for the ❤️!! Your kind words made my heart 😊 smile and gave me a big, gentle PUSH!
Onward!!

~ **Update on Jim(hubby): he made an appointment with the gastroenterologist for tomorrow. As I previously mentioned, yesterday he woke up feeling better but halfway thru the day he came home with the runs (sorry for the graphics but I feel when I share with friends I start to get advice or tips from those that might have experienced something similar). He did end the night on a good note but didn’t eat much.
I have a feeling he has an ulcer as he was throwing up our dinner two weeks prior the night he came home from Cancun. That lasted about two days but we brushed it off as food poisoning. We went through this with our daughter last year, 17 at the time, although her symptoms were slightly different. By the time we caught hers she was losing blood and her hemoglobin levels were at a 3. Hers was disguised by INTENSE back pain and she just wasn’t feeling right.. lethargic and because she always had a lack of appetite we never thought that was the issue. The pediatrician kept sending us home with ibuprofen but the last time she went she noticed that the beds of her eyes were pale. So finally they did bloodwork and then called us on the 4th of July to rush us to the ER. Due to the severity of the ulcer doctors predicted things were gradually getting worse for a long while. Anyway, as she and I measured her situation next to her dads, we recalled there was some nausea mixed in there and she would dry heave towards the end of that time line. (no runs or extreme throwing up though).
We will find out more tomorrow, hopefully this will not lead to another trip to the ER and I pray it is just a bug he’s getting over! - Wed 04/03🛑173.2;-2.1lbs
~ Been logging and weighing but haven’t popped into the community in a few days. My weight has really been inflated since Sunday’s family gathering. I’ve been working towards getting that back down.
~ I hurt my knee ‘somewheres’ (been watching a lot of New Jersey housewives so my grammar might reflect that; might even go make a sang-wich later so I can get an eyeroll from hubby when I make my sang-wich 😂) Anyway, I’ve been circulating hot and cold compress over the last two days so been lacking in the steps arena.
~ Speaking of hubby, he has been throwing up since Sunday. We thought food poison originally but it’s lasted too long. Finally he woke up today feeling better. No other symptoms just stomach nauseous and throwing up any time he ate. Strange. But I’m glad it’s over now! **Update: he woke up this morning bragging he lost 7 lbs lol!
~ Hope all ‘yous’ been ‘doin-alrigh’! 😀

~ Everything goes down hill(diet-wise) when my uncle and his wife come over and go hot-tubbing. In my mind they are professional drinkers and socializers and just all around a fun couple. But that does equal disaster for me when it comes to my healthy living plans. Thinking about my plans for Easter today and trying not to eat right now as I’m having post-drinking cravings. <<gulping down 40 oz water💦>> that’s better!!
~ My grandmother went into the ER night before last for what we now know as a partial bowel blockage. Praying for her and hope that she’ll be released in time for Easter. 3/27
3/28 209.6. I have taken over a year off from this group. It was a tough year, my DH passed 3/9/23, I had a total knee replacement, my special needs daughter had a kidney stone and then a blood clot and several other medical issues for various family members. The house needed work from hail damage and several other problems. Needless to say I was not very focused on me or my health. Trying to figure out this new me and get healthier one day at a time.
3/29 206.6 Well that's a great loss but I have to do my 10 year colonoscopy today. Liquid diet all day yesterday and the prep last night. Maybe this will be the beginning of something positive.
3/30 210 Must have been all that salt water prep.
3/31 210.4 We celebrated Easter and obviously overate.
4/1 210 Well it is down but I won't be too happy with that. I'm still way over where I have been. It's okay though and I'm working on it.
4/2 209.6 I’ll take that and be quite happy. Focused on losing as much as I can by July 15, I’m having my left knee replaced. On July 19 of last year I had the right knee replaced. A little bit at a time will get me there.
4/3 208.8 I’m very pleased with this loss and I hope to keep it up. Discipline, discipline, discipline!! Watching closely what I put in my mouth.
4/4 207.4 Yay!! I’ve been very strict with staying slightly under my calorie goal. No eating a little piece of chocolate or a handful of pretzels. I’m keeping my eye on being lighter for that knee surgery in July.
4/5 207 I hit my round goal!! I didn’t think I could do it. Now to keep it down. Traveling to my mom’s for the weekend, she always has plenty of temptations around .5 -

3/29- 163.3 Went 250 calories over because I got confused adding up lunch calories. Drank plenty of water today which I haven't been doing lately.
3/30- 161.6 New low. Within calories today but didn't drink enough water. I need to work on filling up and using a water bottle.
3/31- 160.7 (72.9 kg) Another whoosh, possibly due to TOM. I'm 5.6 pounds (2.5 kilos) from the lowest I've been in 4 years and it's a bit exciting. Drank more water today too.
4/1- 162.1 Trend weight is still going down. I really enjoy using Libra. I would upload a picture but apparently the app on Android doesn't support that.

Continuing to figure out maintaining, and to work on best nutrition and exercise.
History:Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two “kids”, who are very much adults, a DGS, and second GS on the way. We have two parents, 87(mother), 85(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an “all in or not” person. Hubby and I seeing our family home and downsizing distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse (father has since passed and I am DPOA, Personal representative AKA executor, trustee, and oversee the majority of my mother’s care). A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

Day/Weight/Comment
3/27 – 126.4 Lots went on in the round that I missed, but I will not bore you all. Glad I am back! Handled DH’s 63rd birthday well, yesterday. Glad to see the scale agreed. The prior two days, I had eaten appropriate calories but had gained each of those days. Yesterday, similar calories, but weight came back down. I know if I were not tracking, I would be tempted to tailspin due to seeing those “ups”.
The “boys” (my cats) are still getting weighed regularly. If you see in my history, Harry was dropping weight (not eating and vomiting) and spent a bunch at the vet. Anyhow, I’ve got that turned around. My goal was 11.25 lbs. I overshot now with him and am now watching that he does not go higher. Han Solo, my rescue that was found at 7 lb, I always have to watch his weight. Grateful for microchipped pet feeders.
3/28 – 126.4 Had a basic day. Tracked everything, but I am not pushing myself for losses, even though I would love one or two more pounds off. The good thing is that I living well, though tracking, and for the most part and am staying steady.
3/29 – 125.8 I think I need to eat corn more often. :P It is the only thing different the past couple days. But I’ll take it!
3/30 – 125.0 Movement has been slow, but this is my best number since my father’s death in October.I am glad that in the aftermath (which is still going on) that I did not tailspin!
3/31 – 124.8 Nice to see, especially today since I don’t think I will track accurately today. I’ll worry about it tomorrow.
4/1 – 126.6 totally expected. Did not track yesterday, and digestive system is not up to par.
4/2 – 126.2 day was not tracked, and too many easter candies, but obviously better than easter itself
4/3 – hmmmmm did I miss the scale? Something is off?
4/4 – ate breakfast without thinking and forgot the scale. Will see what tomorrow brings
4/5 – 127.4

Considering the husband and I did a mini beach vacation and both ate a lot of fudge and counted nothing except waves, I guess I’m proud of my first 10 day challenge. Seeing the numbers day after day is motivating to me, and weighing first thing each morning mentally reminded me that I really want to get back into that old pair of jeans I love so much, so I gotta make it happen. Ready for the next 10!5 -

Working on finding the balance of getting into deeper ketosis without losing muscle, weakening my bones or raising cholesterol with too much fat.
@reshii_devi, my first time on Keto I lost 89lbs. I can definitely check, but I don't think I had many days at or below 20g carbs. My high limit was 75-100 grams, but mostly I kept at 25-60 grams of carbs. In reality that could gave been 40-75grams of carbs, because I subtracted the fiber. I think everyone has a carb threshold.

@tiabirdie56 that's very helpful Tia, thanks! I've lowered it to <50 grams but will definitely keep all of that in mind. Happy Saturday!2 -
Hi, I'm Charissa, back for another round. I will keep coming back and I will get this thing right, sooner or later. Hopefully sooner!
Thank you, QuiltingJaine, for keeping us focused in 2024!
@musicsax for getting us ready for round 255!
So here we go 2024... my motto -
🏋🏾♀️ Don't think, just do it!!
Eat well 🥗to Live Well 🚢✈️🧳
Note to Self: Alcohol kills weight loss as the focus is burning alcohol calories and not fat calories!
Goals this round:
- Tracking/Under Calorie Budget 🍎
- Macros - hit Protein ✅
- Water - 64oz minimum > trying hard for 80💧
- Closing my rings M-F🚶🏽
Same goals... just need 100% execution! I totally tanked the last round and compare to last year...it must be this time of year. I was starting to get excited because the weather was nicer and I could get outside....then it got cold again and snowed!
I need to revisit and implement some basics that I kick to the curb last round. It's not like I don't know what to do...just need to do it

Dates = Weight ; Comments regarding prior day.
3/27 ~ 219.0
3/28 ~ 219.2 Something happened Tue night that felt like food poisoning...but I didn't have anything to eat that was suspect, but I felt horrible. Stayed home yesterday, no work out just rested. Didn't get my water in either. Working from home today, still resting (no workout) but will get at least 64 ounces of water in and get some planning done for the rest of the round.
3/29 218.4 Continued to take it easy yesterday. Today, almost back to normal.
3/30 ~ 218.4
3/31 ~ 218.4 Worked out Friday and Saturday. Was going to make up one of the days I missed today but decided to enjoy the day. Might go for a walk later if it's not raining. Planned an entire month of meals so I'm ready for April!
4/1 221.0 Easter residual. Not terribly bad but lots of sodium.
4/2 221.0. Need those 3 perfect days! Lots of water the past couple of days. Lots for me
4/3 218.2
4/4 DNW up early (4am) to take husband for hernia surgery. Not sure if I will get my workout in today.
4/5 219.4 - No workout on Thursday and poor planning on my part. They said the surgery would only take 30 minutes, but I forgot about all the prep time before and recovery afterward, and I didn't plan my nutrition or water properly. So that's the tale of the scale. Time for the next round!
@reshii_devi ~ thanks for asking. Yes, he was in a lot of pain when he came home on Thursday. He still has some pain but he's up and moving around so that's all good stuff!2 -
@itladyee, I'm sorry. I forgot that you said your husband was having surgery. I hope his recovery time is quick.❤️2

74 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion...
