Still not “feeling” the “healthy & fit” …. I keep reminding myself that I am NOT my thoughts or my feelings. Somehow I was successful in completing all of my round commitments yesterday even though I felt an internal braking system gnawing at me to stop & piddle. NSV: But I somehow pushed through it. Took every ounce of energy. Thank God. ✅Hit macros. Yes, I’m counting again.
That unavoidable, awful, worrisome, emotional family issue is currently at full throttle & front & center. …. All of my joy gets sucked out. Takes tons of energy to even TRY to stay positive. I conquered the internal battle yesterday by simply “doing” the commitments. ✅. Didn’t even feel good about it… Just blah.
But…. I do get to see my DGS today… Have not seen him since 4/27. I cannot wait! He sure is a sight for sore eyes. A full day of my “to do” list shall be completed before I pick him up. Today: Will fake it till I make it …
Let’s go stretch…. Onward.

About me, WOE & Health Journey

F65, 5’6” married, MawMaw Proud. Clean Ketovore 🥩. Track macros, kcals, all exercise and NSVs. HW 172lbs in 2010.
WOE since 7/2023: Whole Foods. No processed foods. Animal-based proteins. EGGS, Beef, pork, chicken, seafood, venison and grass-fed whey protein. I count macros & kcals - always will. (Since portion control is my issue). Keto is high-fat but I’m now leaning lower healthy fats with leaner proteins. I had paralyzing IBS for 20 years. My mother was diagnosed with celiac’s disease in her 50’s. Following her lead, I eliminated wheat, oat, barley, and rye several years ago…. Dairy? Hard cheese, HWC and butter - an occasional Greek yogurt. Vegetables destroy my digestive system… I love vegetables, but when I splurge, I pay for it for a few days… I do enjoy berries, lemons, limes. Avocados are my weakness. Enjoy a piece of dark chocolate on occasion. Generally, I eat btw noon and 6 pm. (IF18/6). Alcohol? Used to be a social drinker and would enjoy a good martini/scotch or Paloma at home while cooking dinner. NO MORE. Root of many evils. Primarily, the destruction of will power and the enemy of optimal choices. I’d rather journey toward my best-self. I haven’t given up alcohol completely, but I enjoy it sparingly on special occasions. This is me. I finally feel terrific.
History:
I have ALWAYS been ON a “diet” since at least high school. I have never been comfortable with my body - NEVER EVER- no matter my weight.
Pre- college: 125-130lbs
College- up to 160lbs one year… graduated @130lbs.
Many different diets each decade!
1990 (Age 32) - Avg.135/140 lbs (my son was born 1988)
2000 (Age 42) -Avg 145 -160
2010 (Age 52) - HW 172 lbs in 2010. 130lbs by end of 2014.
2020 (Age 62) 130-135lbs
7/2023 (Age 64) 145lbs
1/2024 (Age 65) 130lbs
UGW = 129-130lbs

Aug 14, 2014 @ 157lbs (down 15 from heaviest of 172lbs in 2010), I decided to take serious control of my health. I lost 30lbs by 11/15/2014. Weight @ 128-132lbs through the end of 2020. Six years!
Another 🎢 Roller Coaster Begins….
2020 through 2021, I fluctuated 132-140 lbs. Always self-conscious.
8/1/ 2022 crept up to 142lbs.
Dropped to 128lbs again by 10/30 - held 130lbs till 2/1/23.
2023 Back ⬆️ 145lbs by July 15! 15lbs BOOM! Enjoyed eating & margaritas way too much. My nutrition has always been somewhat healthy BUT portion control is/was THE issue. Started tracking again 7/15/23. Joined “Just give me 10 days” R231 in beginning of 8/2023. Here we are @ 130ish determined to…. STOP the 🎢 & be in the

The yo-yo is exhausting & unhealthy. Takes up way too much brain space.
I learned MY choices created an emotional 🎢 roller coaster with yo-yo weight and fitness. My forever goal is to be healthy & fit & maintain approx. 130lbs & IN SHAPE - to enjoy my “Senior” years to my fullest.
While active with 🚶♀️& 🎾 it’s clear a ST 🏋️♀️🤸🏼routine was absent. Strength & balance are 💯most important now. Time to incorporate ST 🏋️♀️ 🙆♀️🤸🏼as my TRUE focus. I want healthy/fit choices to be my first nature.

4/8: bounce back down. It's been about 3 weeks now in this range. Reminder to self- my maintenance BMR for my age/ht/wt is 1356 cal/day, so it's really close to maintenance. Those exercise calories really help- and those "treat nights" can't become more than treats again!8 -

4/8- DNW traveling I got in a quick run before the four hour drive. Not enough moving throughout the day and my brothers family is not entirely “active”. I forgot to throw my running sneakers in the car. I will probably spend some time picking up in their garden and take a walk to the park with the five year old.
My eating wasn’t terrible yesterday until my dad ordered dessert- I went right along with him. To put it mildly, my mother is a difficult woman and I shoveled a brownie ice cream sundae into my pie hole to push down the frustration and anger.
I am certainly not blaming my mom for a life time of being overweight and battling eating disorders but I’m pretty sure our family dynamics didn’t help.
I will be very happy to get home to my peaceful life. Maybe I can unpack some of these feelings there. For now I will try not to fill the void with food.8 -

I will take this scale reading after my German feast last night at the German American Society. I even had a piece of German Chocolate cake. (is that even really German?) Even so, my calorie budget was busted by only a little bit. How many times can I write the word German?

This is the residual effect of the past two days of too much salt and not enough water. Out shopping with DW yesterday and we decided to stop for some Vietnamese food. I had a “small” bowl of Pho. It was actually huge. Though very reasonable in calories, it was very high in sodium. And delicious.
Did some nervous noshing during basketball games.
My exercise was mowing the grass, hauling yard waste, plus some functional lifting of boat batteries. Those batteries get heavier every year.

4/6 174.2 Yesterday marked my 50th day of this challenge. Yay! Was hoping for better results but some of that is my fault. I've really got to do better if I want this weight off by summer. Met all goals yesterday. It's really starting to get beautiful out so I'm enjoying my walks so much. We live near the riverwalk, so I'm going to start walking more out there too. The scenery and wildlife is beautiful and its crazy how much it changes my mood when I'm out there. Hoping for a better round this time. Good luck everyone!
4/7 173.5 There we go- almost at starting weight for last round. Took almost a week to get the weight back off from last weekend. Lots of walking and outdoor activities yesterday. Was so beautiful out. Loving the spring weather here. Hope y'all have a great day!

- Fast 12 hours dinner to breakfast.
- Do 30 minutes of dedicated exercise 5 days a week.
4/6 - 215 - Sleep issues and night eating associated with insomnia are my biggest focus. Its pushed me to gain so much weight in the last year. Very hard habit to break.
4/7 - 213.9 - Clearly a drop in water weight but I'll take it. Worked the plan well yesterday through dinner. However, I did eat a protein bar in the wee hours, so I had to restart my 12 hour fasting window over.
4/8- 213.3 -Lifted some weights, lots of steps, eating on point with a lot of veggies and protein, but till struggling with eliminating the night snacking.

04/07 -DNW- (Trend weight DNW) I didn’t weigh today because I knew this very large club foot would skew the numbers. I started with the walk-in clinic yesterday. After an hour they ended up sending me over to the hospital (I drove myself which was only about another mile). They were worried about a blood clot and wanted tests done they could not perform. I ended up being there all day and didn’t get home until 11:00 last night! They did xrays of my feet and also my chest (to check for blood clots). An EKG which came up abnormal showing a left bundle branch block. I have been told of that one before but nothing has been done for it, not sure why. Then they did leg doppler ultra sounds followed by CT scans of the chest and legs using contrast dye. Thankfully they did not find blood clots nor any trauma or injury. (Diabetics may not always feel if they’ve stepped on something or punctured). They are settling for diabetic neuropathy. So strange as I have always thought that was a phantom pain or burning, not an actual physical thing with this kind of swelling and redness and pain. They gave me 10 days of muscle relaxer because of the way the toes bunch up at night. I’m not sure what 10 days is going to do. They have been bunching up for several years. They did not see any sign of infection in the toes, feet or lower leg but my white blood count is up in several of the blood tests. Also, it “sheds” and those numbers are abnormal as well. They want me to follow up with my family doctor to run down the causes of these numbers. That makes me nervous as I am getting ready to return to the University Hospital this month for that 6 month breast checkup because of them finding something unusal in my Mammogram last fall on the “other breast” that did not have cancer. It’s so disappointing when you work so hard to get healthy and things keep popping up. You just can’t outrun some things…. Including family history and age. Anyway, I’m okay today. I just have to keep the foot elevated and rested. Sunday is a good day to do this. Thank you everyone for your suggestions and your love & concern.
04/08 -DNW- (Trend weight DNW) Thanks again everyone for the kind comments and wishes. I really do appreciate the love & concern. There was no point in weighing again today. My foot and lower leg are HUGE and any weight on the scale would be incorrect anyway. I honestly would rather my losses in the near future to be real and not just all this known fluid. No chance for exercise really either. I am trying to do a little chair yoga on primarily my upper body or arms which is better than nothing. Mostly I’m just in bed keeping it elevated as the ER suggested. It looks like it’s going to be a beautiful slightly brisk day in northern Michigan. Have a wonderful day everyone and enjoy that eclipse for those in the path.

4/7 - DNW Drove back home this afternoon and took a little nap. So far today I’ve been good. A lot of gardening yesterday helping my mom with spring cleanup. At our rate it will be mid summer before we get it all finished, I visit her every other weekend.
