4/7 ⚖️131.9 Today: all the above plus a little work, 📿rope & 📝 Habit Mechanic. Still out of sorts but getting back in the groove.

Still not “feeling” the “healthy & fit” …. I keep reminding myself that I am NOT my thoughts or my feelings. Somehow I was successful in completing all of my round commitments yesterday even though I felt an internal braking system gnawing at me to stop & piddle. NSV: But I somehow pushed through it. Took every ounce of energy. Thank God. ✅Hit macros. Yes, I’m counting again.

That unavoidable, awful, worrisome, emotional family issue is currently at full throttle & front & center. …. All of my joy gets sucked out. Takes tons of energy to even TRY to stay positive. I conquered the internal battle yesterday by simply “doing” the commitments. ✅. Didn’t even feel good about it… Just blah.

But…. I do get to see my DGS today… Have not seen him since 4/27. I cannot wait! He sure is a sight for sore eyes. A full day of my “to do” list shall be completed before I pick him up. Today: Will fake it till I make it …
    Let’s go stretch…. Onward.

    4/9 DNW 🙆‍♀️🤸🏼🏋️‍♀️🚶‍♀️📿💦 📝✅
Rained all day. No tennis but ✅ everything else and macros. Only 10 min of 🏋️‍♀️but it was a good 10 min. I’m thinking I’m not eating enough.… Will eat extra protein today.
I definitely managed my mood better yesterday than the day before. Was able to change worrisome thoughts successfully throughout the day. Staying mindful & present is KEY. Oh, enjoyed BIGtime my grandson yesterday-God’s gift to me. ❤️

NSV: Catching unhelpful thoughts quickly is slowly becoming a helpful habit.

    4/10 130.9
Fake it till u make it actually worked yesterday. Managed to get it all done except 📿. Able to stay “in the present” most of the day. Spent too much time w/🎾.
My day was made fabulous with two hours spent with my DGS. We played basketball and went for a walk to the nearby stadium to watch high school track&field. He was mesmerized! We practiced the long-jump!
Today: All schools are canceled because of severe weather. I’ll be home working on taxes, work and completing my “Healthy & Fit” ✅ list.

NOTE: My sleep patterns are in complete disarray. I’ve been up since 4:30 & positive my cortisol levels are high from stress. Practicing mindful breathing helps a lot but sleep sucks. Onward!

NSV: slowly accomplishing my goals because let’s face it, how many MawMaws out there can practice the long jump with their DGS?! 😎💪🏻❤️

4/11 Thunderstorms & severe weather all day yesterday. My neighborhood ok. Used the day for taxes /work. At computer eight hours. Nothing else got done.
Today: will eat right& ✅ my list. (Work @ clients office & dinner with friends. ).

4/12✅ day!!! Managed to accomplish ✅healthy & fit list.

NSV: Working with client is going better than I had imagined. Our time spent is of value to both. I’m enjoying it! I’m giving part credit to “feeling” good. I’m feeling strong- perhaps this Improves my self-confidence and delivery… Go figure!

Played basketball with DGS for about 45 min, 🏋️‍♀️for 45 min… Laughed so hard! I was just a little short on steps, so DH& I walked to dinner (Gorgeous evening)! ✅ 10k! But….. FORGOT HM &📿!
BTW: Our friends know that I have a special “WOE” … hard cheeses for app& served me (just me) baked/roasted chicken w rosemary & garlic, & perfect avocado on the side…. Delicious!

Found out my girlfriend has a girlfriend with the same “condition” with veggies & leafy greens…. I’m not alone! Felt good to talk about it with someone who gets it.

Today: 🎾😎 & ✅ will have perfect weather and DGS!

4/13 ⚖️133.4 Jumping on the scale conundrum and joining several others this round with true shock. THREE pounds? I’ll drink more water than usual today. I did eat later than usual last night…. And, I’m still not sleeping well? Stress? These are all rhetorical questions because I know it’s timing and not real weight. So we journey on.

I join the crowd here for not wanting to post, but I posted it anyway simply to share what we all experience. Inexplicable.

I’ll throw this out though – I wish I had an inexplicable 3 pound drop!!!! That has never happened!

Today- no tennis but all else is planned. Extra long walk this morn to take in a gorgeous day!
    📿🏋️‍♀️😎.

About me, WOE & Health Journey
    ****************************
F65, 5’6” married, MawMaw Proud. Clean MAD 🥩. Track macros, kcals, all exercise and NSVs. HW 172lbs in 2010.

WOE since 7/2023: Whole Foods. No processed foods. Animal-based proteins. EGGS, Beef, pork, chicken, seafood, venison and grass-fed whey protein. I count macros & kcals - always will. (Since portion control is my issue). Keto is high-fat but I’m now leaning lower healthy animal fats with leaner proteins. I had paralyzing IBS for 20 years. My mother was diagnosed with celiac’s disease in her 50’s. Following her lead, I eliminated wheat, oat, barley, and rye several years ago…. Dairy? Hard cheese, HWC and butter - an occasional Greek yogurt. Vegetables destroy my digestive system… I love vegetables, but when I splurge, I pay for it for a few days… I do enjoy berries, lemons, limes. Avocados are my weakness. Enjoy a piece of dark chocolate on occasion. Generally, I eat btw noon and 6 pm. (IF18/6). Alcohol? Used to be a social drinker and would enjoy a good martini/scotch or Paloma at home while cooking dinner. NO MORE. Root of many evils. Primarily, the destruction of will power and the enemy of optimal choices. I’d rather journey toward my best-self. I haven’t given up alcohol completely, but I enjoy it sparingly on special occasions. This is me. I finally feel terrific.

    History:
I have ALWAYS been ON a “diet” since at least high school. I have never been comfortable with my body - NEVER EVER- no matter my weight.

    Another 🎢 Roller Coaster Begins….

    2020 through 2021, I fluctuated 132-140 lbs. Always self-conscious.

    8/1/ 2022 crept up to 142lbs.
    Dropped to 128lbs again by 10/30 - held 130lbs till 2/1/23.

2023 Back ⬆️ 145lbs by July 15! 15lbs BOOM! Enjoyed eating & margaritas way too much. My nutrition has always been somewhat healthy BUT portion control is/was THE issue. Started tracking again 7/15/23. Joined “Just give me 10 days” R231 in beginning of 8/2023. Here we are @ 130ish determined to…. STOP the 🎢 & be in the
    📣#bestshapeofmylife 📣

The yo-yo is exhausting & unhealthy. Takes up way too much brain space.

I learned MY choices created an emotional 🎢 roller coaster with yo-yo weight and fitness. My forever goal is to be healthy & fit & maintain approx. 130lbs & IN SHAPE - to enjoy my “Senior” years to my fullest.

While active with 🚶‍♀️& 🎾 it’s clear a ST 🏋️‍♀️🤸🏼routine was absent. Strength & balance are 💯most important now. Time to incorporate ST 🏋️‍♀️ 🙆‍♀️🤸🏼as my TRUE focus. I want healthy/fit choices to be my first nature.

    SW RND 256 SW - 207 Round Goal - 205

4/6 - DNW Out of town visiting my mom. Did eat some sugar here yesterday, so hard to resist. Was slightly over calorie goal.

4/7 - DNW Drove back home this afternoon and took a little nap. So far today I’ve been good. A lot of gardening yesterday helping my mom with spring cleanup. At our rate it will be mid summer before we get it all finished, I visit her every other weekend.

4/8 - 208.4 Well I’m a bit disappointed that it went up this high and I was watching what I ate. After posting this I will preplan my food for the day.

4/9 207.2 Yesterday was great with keeping calories managed and then we went for a walk around the lake, .6 of a mile but still a nice little walk. Trying to strengthen the knee but not overdo it, surgery on July 15.

4/10 205.8 Much the same as yesterday. Ate under calorie goal and went for a walk. Almost gave in and ate some pretzels but I drank some water instead. Today was grocery shopping and I bought mostly produce, trying to stay away from carbs.

4/11 205.8 Same weight as yesterday. Stayed under calorie goal but didn’t get a walk in. Hopefully that will happen today.

4/12 205.4 Slightly surprised but very happy with this loss. My youngest DD is a third grade teacher. Her school had a fundraiser at a local pizza place. My older DD and I ordered two small pizzas, a salad, garlic bread and a Coke for me and a Sprite for DD and a chocolate chip cookie for DD. I ate 1/3 of the salad and two pieces of pizza and drank the Coke. I discovered that yes I can control myself with pizza. We brought home lots of leftovers which we will finish off over the weekend.

4/13 205.2 Every time the weight goes down I’m surprised but still very pleased. I wasn’t sure about today since I had a small portion of spaghetti last night. I’m trying hard to stay away from carbs.

    Day, Weight, Comment

    4/06 - 195.6
I don’t know why the uptick, but whatever.

    4/07 - DNW

    4/08 - 195.6
DH made prepackaged (read salty) dinners the past two nights and I feel waterlogged. Other than that, I’ve been eating responsibly. 😊

    4/09 - 195.4
We had a great view of the eclipse from our backyard—all but total here. It’s the third one I’ve seen. Beautiful. We’re having gorgeous weather, which of course makes me want to jump the gun on planting things, but we’re a month away from final frost day so I’m trying to restrain myself. Lots of other garden work to do, though—yay! outdoor exercise! Have a lovely day, everyone!

    4/10 - 194.6
I spent about 2 hours yesterday digging up brick edging from a bed we’re putting back in grass and relocating them to another part of the garden. I thought I’d be sore this morning, but nope, all good. It’s supposed to rain from tonight through Fri night, so I’m going to do a little more “garden infrastructure “ work this morning, them agility class with Charlie this afternoon. It’s a moving sort of day! Enjoy your hump day, all!

    4/11 - 194.6
I just realized I never checked in this morning. Oh, well, better late…. My friend took this pic of me and Charlie at agility class yesterday, waiting for our turn in the ring. Thought I’d share. 😊

    4/12 - 194.4
Cold and rainy today, but then it’s supposed to warm up for the rest of the week. Yay! I’m looking forward to getting more garden work done, and some nice walks.

    4/13 - 194.6
Sleepy this morning. I stayed up way too late reading. Oh, well, that’s what naps are for! Happy Saturday!

    04/11 -179.6- (Trend weight 181.5)

04/12 -180.4- (Trend weight 181.4) I am not completely sure of why there is such an uptick. I’m sure that staying off my foot and getting very little movement and exercise is not helping. I have only been in the 3000 step range per day for about a week now and have only hit my 250 steps per hour on my fitbit 1 time out of 13 for 5 straight days in a row. Not burning calories I suppose is the main culprit. Yesterday I ate 1195 calories and 74 carbs. It was a good day. Another cold rainy day here in northern Michigan. Winds are expected to be quite severe today. Overall, no sun and very depressing. I’ve pre-logged my food and I expect today to be a good dietary day. I may try the exercise bike today as the foot is improving but still swollen. Dr. finally called. I can’t get in for two weeks! It will be healed by then and I guess I’ll never get answers. But we’ll at least go over that wonky blood work.

04/13 -181.2- (Trend weight 181.4) I got into that Christmas chocolate buried in the garage freezer last night. The cravings were HORRID. I’ll choose a lower calorie/carb day today on the zig-zag plan to help make up for it and balance my calories for the week a little better. Water, water, water also. I’ve been avoiding too much thinking it would add to the foot swelling.

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

4/7-DNW-Had fish for dinner and ate extra. Ordered raised garden beds from Amazon and assembled one yesterday. I am excited because I have broccoli, tomatoes and peppers I have started.
4/8-174-Lots of yard work done. Got my dahlias separated and replanted, even rode the horse and assembled one of the raised garden beds. DH says we need to fill that one up first so it doesn’t blow away. Minor details.
4/9-174-Appointment this morning then donate blood this afternoon. It makes me tired now when I do that and it never used to. DS is coming for dinner tonight so I will do as much early prep as I can.
4/12-177-Salty snacks at quilting last night. Dr. appointment then a quilting gathering called PJ’s and Pizza, where we go to the quilt shop some are in PJ’s (I am not because I usually stop and buy salad on the way) and we sew until 10:00 p.m., uninterrupted.

4/13-DNW-Ate pizza last night. Got all of my blocks made for my quilt. It’s raining here so I will spend the day sewing.

@Sweetzyd thanks Crystal. Had one good night followed by one restless, but I've still got tonight and tomorrow! But hey ~ if that's not a typo, ouch. Been there! My highest was 5+. It took 2 weeks to lose, but was worth it! I wanted to ask: have you tried preplanning nights out? I keep a short list of goto's, but try to check out drink and menu options ahead of time if I can. I eat a little lighter the day before, and give myself up to 2000 calories to enjoy. Learned (one time too many!!) as long as I don't OD on the carb and sugar crack, a 1-3 # gain should balance out within a day or two. Just something to think about  We got this though ... slips but no stopping.

I normally try to pre-plan when we go out, when I know where we are going. The main thing that gets me is when I'm traveling. It's like it all goes out the window and I'm like, well it's just for the weekend but in reality it takes a week or so to get back to normal. Thank you for your ideas- those are great points!
