Machka I really admire your adventurous attitude about jobs and STAR interviews. wow, just wow. I’m so glad I’m retired, and my last job was with the same company for 30 years. I even wrote my own performance reviews and gave them to my supervisor in advance . . . Some of your Hong Kong photos made me quite dizzy and oh nooo, sssnakessssss! I think buying socks with bees on them was the most appropriate response you could have to that woman. SMH.

Machka: Great preparation for interviews. I hope you are successful. Any organisation would be lucky to get you.
☘️ Terri
I would like to stay in my current organisation, in my current area. Right now, that's where I'm applying for jobs.
I would like to stay right where I am for a few more years, but that might not be possible because I am in a fixed term position.
So, if I can't stay where I am, I'd kinda like to move up the ladder ... but in my current area. So I'm working with my mentor and jumping through all the hoops.
There are no guarantees, and I've already had to take the scenic route to get where I am. But I continue to give it my best shot.

After work, I got a little sample tub of the blue paint I like ... at half strength.
I also got a little sample tub of a slightly different colour of blue.
We'll see how they look at the weekend.
Watching Lego Masters.

I had forgotten how rude junior high students could be.
I think I’m going to enjoy it, tonight I’m not because my foot is hurting so bad, I didn’t sit all morning. I did sit some this afternoon.

Yay!!
It's worth getting good quality shoes and socks. In my practicums, I was often on my feet all day.
I'm not sure where your foot hurts but maybe some arch support socks ... or maybe compression socks.

Good morning ladies!
I had a moody day yesterday and had a small binge at dinner time. Bread, cookies and cheese. Oh well, today's a new day. A beautiful sunny day. I can do better.
I don't know if my friend who has the weight loss injections is diabetic or not. I'm not, and I don't have as much to lose, so I'm probably not a good candidate for them.
When I took my mom to the doctor for Alzheimer's, they just talked to her. There was a bit of an exam, that included things like drawing a clock and remembering words for a few minutes. I bet they would just ask me if dad should be driving.
Well I need to keep moving along to my exercise.
Have a marvelous day, ladies! May you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Questions
1. Where are you on the chart below?
I feel like I've been in the Learning Zone since the mid-1990s ... nearly 30 years.
But now, I feel like I'm on the edge of the Learning Zone, heading toward the Growth Zone.
2. Where would you like to be on the chart below?
3 years ago, I wanted to figure out what my comfort zone is and spend a bit of time there. Then I thought I might want to move on to the Growth Zone.
Now, I'd like to venture into the Growth Zone and see what that's like.
3. What is your comfort zone? How would you define a comfort zone?
3 years ago, I didn't know what a comfort zone was. It had been so long since I was in one.
Now, I think I do retreat to my comfort zone from time to time when I need to.
I think my comfort zone includes colouring, reading novels, cycling, walking, gardening, the work I'm currently doing, etc.

Morning, my chickens,
Yesterday was a reasonably lazy day... in comparison to recent ones, anyway. Made nearly twice as many steps each day this weekend. But I did get most of my chores done. Trying to convince myself to do floors today, and that really is a chore. Both convincing myself I have to and actually doing it. 😀🧹🙄😁 Least-liked chore.
So... I've snarfed a little breakfast, time to get going with yoga first. Anything to put off the floors! Gloomy day, maybe some rain in the early afternoon, if the weather weasels got it right.
Later, y'all,
Love,

Hi all
I'm enjoying the little snippets on here. It has the makings of a future film about a bunch of supportive women on the internet who find themselves suddenly having to pull together to solve or plot a murder. Or more upliftingly save one of us when they have to flee from there current home.
So if this were to happen who would play you? I think it might be fun to visualise each other this way.
I think I would like to be played by Helena Bonham Carter

Terri - Thanks for the info. I mentioned to DH I was thinking about it last night, so I'll probably end up having to do it if I want to or not. LOL
Machka - My foot is hurting due to plantar fasciitis, I did get arch support shoes and they are comfortable, but standing for that many hours when I'm not used to it will be an adjustment I'm sure. I am going to look into arch support socks though, I didn't know they made such a thing.
I am in a learning zone right now, but I think it's also a growth zone because I might finally be doing something I enjoy. We'll see yesterday was only the first day.
Annie - It might not hurt to talk to the doctor about your dad and your concerns with his driving. It would put more on you having to drive him, but it's much better than something happening to him or someone else because of his driving.
Lisa - I don't like floors either. I need to do mine though.
I don't start until 930 this morning and am off at 3, I'll check in again this evening.

Hi all,
The weekend weather was gorgeous. Made the extra dog walk a pleasure. The fluff asked for one...and why not. Sunshine and good breeze. Also able to connect with a friend I haven't seen since before the holidays in December. It was really nice catching up with her.
Sue in Wa. I second whoever mentioned keep good notes. Crazy or not, it could be pesky if it turns into "you said, they said." Showing the communications can bring clarity in a contested situation. But also...yeah. They sound out there. Sorry you are dealing with that.
RV Rita - I don't have any coloring books but I do think it is a lovely way to relax. Nothing serious...just chance to let your mind do something with color and design.
Kevrit-worth talking with your doc about modifying prescriptions. Maybe the drug boosts appetite or maybe it is a stress response. There could be other ways to approach that meet your needs. Not everyone does the same path. Be true to your needs.
Annie in Delaware - The good thing is that you are identifying patterns that make your goals harder to achieve. It sucks to look back and recognize something that undercut...but it is useful information. Sometimes it lets you have determination to not do it in the future, or to choose different foods that better serve you. Information gives you power.
Rusty - Hi! Welcome.
Everyone else-thanks for sharing and being part of the work.
FYI. I hate the get up without hands task. I know the cool way is to just be able to practically levitate upwards, but I don't have that kind of all around strength. I can get up, but it is a bit of work to reposition without my hands. Not graceful.

Thanks Anna! There are a few of us here that color. I vary the type of books and the coloring media, like pencils, markers, crayons,
And paint pens. Fun to see what you can do. I’ve tried paint with water, but those don’t work very well and end up coloring them in with my own colors.
As far as the medications go, I don’t want to take anything to lose weight or add any more for depression. Those just won’t work long term. I did it without any chemicals before, I can do it again if I get my willpower back where it needs to be, and @Pip uses her ‘boot’ on me for encouragement! I’ve just been getting over the medication withdrawal effects. Plus, I started drinking wine in the evening on the advice of the ER doc. I need to stick to 1 glass of wine, and having something that will hold me over until morning without snacking. Since my kidneys started acting up, I can’t do low carb/high protein any more so trying to find the right combination for me. I believe ‘you are what you eat’ is true and has worked for me in the past. Hard to get the right balance, especially when I get depressed about the scale. So for that, I used to weigh daily, but for now went to once a week to record here. Actually I do 2, Sunday then Monday mornings and take the lower weight to log.
Thanks for the encouragement!

Annie - Dr. Lisa gives older folks who shouldn't be driving reflex tests. My friend T's FIL goes to Dr. Lisa, and T was with him when he failed the tests. She said Dr. Lisa was kind but firm about stopping driving, and he didn't argue (like he did when his kids tried to pressure him) although he was cranky about it for a while. Good luck with your dad, it's got to be a worry. Great job on increasing your exercise.
Rusty in Yorkshire - I had to smile at your post this morning. Many of us here are fans of detective and murder mystery books and shows. "The Thursday Murder Club" book series is a favorite, and in my mind I pictured some of our gang on here in the starring roles, lol. I won't say who.
Carol - sounds like your brother's graveside service was very nice. I probably wouldn't recognize my home town in Indiana either, it's been over 20 years since I was there. I do hope to get back there some day. The farmer who bought the farm where I was raised tore down the old house and some of the outbuildings - it's now just farmland. Interesting to see the changes on the aerial photos on the county's parcel information.
Tracey - hoping your plantar fasciitis isn't too bothersome. I bet you'll do just fine with the junior high kids with the experience you have with your grandchildren and their friends.
Barbara - very glad to hear you are doing the best thing for your shoulder with your PT. I need to get dedicated with some yoga and stretching before I launch into outside projects that involve carrying and moving heavy stuff.
I also miss Ketone Karen. Let's all put our thoughts together and see if we can get on her wavelength so she'll get back on here for a minute and fill us in. I know she was busy with her spouse's illness, her brother's death and memorial, plus I think she had another residence to sell. The "old geezer's home" as she put it sounded like a wonderful place for her and her spouse.
It's a beautiful chilly and sunny morning here. Temps will probably be in the high 20's tomorrow morning so the tomatoes will get to overnight it in the potting shed. Got a lot of onions planted in large containers yesterday, have a lot left over that I'll plant today and give them to T if she wants them. To save on potting soil, I fill the bottom 2/3 of the containers with maple leaves I bagged up last fall, push them down well, add some left over used potting soil from last year then top off with about 3" of new soil. Really lightens them up. I did that last year with the onions and tomatoes in buckets last year and it worked fine.
My walking partner D down the street has some kind of respiratory crud again, she's not sure when she'll feel like walking. She's pretty socially active with church and quilting activities so gets exposed to lots of germs, she emailed me that others in her groups have it right now. Seems like she gets hit every few months. Makes me glad I'm an introvert and avoid "peopley places".
Have a good day, ladies!

@Machka, that map explains a lot!! I’m from New England with family from Quebec. We were taught, as a child to sound out words like pecan as a long E (pE) followed by the word ‘can’ (pE-can). Makes sense it depends on where you live for how you pronounce words. All in how you were taught to read and the colloquial speech of the area. When I moved to TN, it always bothered my that the middle and high school teachers used the words “ya’ll” and “yu-ons” and “all ya’all” (you, you, and everyone or ‘you all’). With all my traveling, the way people talk always fascinated me. As a camp host, I get them from everywhere. There is one person here that I thought came from Massachusetts, but only went to college there. He grew up in Vermont then moved to Florida, but kept the MA ‘attitude’ and speech! Lol. Nice man and reminded me of home.

@Rusty gave me an idea. I have an active imagination and always liked writing, so I need your help. I found this online, but we can do this virtually. Please pick a character for yourself and I will see if I can get a story going for us. Read through the screen shots and fill in where you want, that is if you want to play. I’ll put things together for a fun story about us and by us. The MFP Murder Mystery Women Fantasy!!
I wish to be the Fairy Godmother part. Who do you want to be??

Popping in again.
My northern Indiana dad would say "you'uns". I don't recall anyone else in my family or the area using that term.
Around here in my area of the Pacific Northwest, we say "puh-CAHNS."
Debbie - I meant to comment earlier on that intern performing your pelvic exam. Sometimes the nurses or doc would ask if it's OK for an intern to be there. If it was a male, NOPE! Once I had a guy follow the doc into the exam room. In my own sweet way I said "what's HE doing here?" I guess she could tell by the sound of my voice that I didn't want him in there so they left the room and she returned alone, apologizing.
For things other than pelvics or something involving me taking my clothes off, I don't mind guy interns or students. They all have to learn. Just not on MY lady parts, lol.
Once my DH had to go to the clinic to have a little infection on his hiney taken care of. Dr. Paul was booked so DH got Dr. Lisa and a student. Part of the procedure was to inject a little numbing agent. The student did his best but wasn't very skilled and DH really felt it. He yelled an F-Bomb so loud I think they could hear it in the waiting room. I stifled a laugh but Dr. Lisa took the syringe from the kid and said "I'll take it from here" and finished the procedure.
Looking back, it was probably good for student to be exposed to an old grump like my DH. Comes with the territory.
DH and I actually had a lot of laughs about it later, hope the student wasn't too traumatized.

John did the pick up and also walked Edie down to her lift to football because my son was stuck, again, on a train. My DDIL was very appreciative and sent him a text to say so. On their walk Edie talked about all her sports, especially her swimming, which she is now doing 3 times a week! She seems to be enjoying it, but I worry. As long as she is still loving it!
I poured the unblocking gel down the sink. It seems to have improved a lot. I have another bottle if we need it.
Delicious dinner with salmon, smashed cauliflower, and asparagus.
Tomorrow we are out to lunch with Max. He will make his own way over here and John and he will walk down along the seafront. I will get an Uber. He is growing and changing so fast, it will be nice to see him. For his 13th birthday next month, he has decided he wants a hat. John will take him to John's favourite hat shop, Mad Hatter, so he can choose one. Great idea!
We can't do it on the actual day, as it's a Bank Holiday and our 21st meeting anniversary, and John's younger daughter has booked us three into a gastro pub nearby for lunch. So perhaps the previous weekend. I remember so well having a celebratory lunch in a posh restaurant for our anniversary, waiting for news of the baby's birth. It ended up as a Caesarean later that evening. Relief all round.
Lots of pain this evening. Hip, potential UTI lingering, gastric discomfort, low energy.

Sorry to dive right into an organ recital, but:The handsome young doctor's office called this morning to schedule putting me on a blood-thinner challenge. Basically, in order to install the Watchman (stroke preventer) in my heart, they have to put me on blood thinners. They want to try them out now to see if I can "handle" blood thinners.
Here's the deal. All this mess began nearly five years ago now because I was bleeding from my rectum. All day, every day. Enough so that I ended up anemic. It took nearly four years to fully get the anemia under control. It took two years to get a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis. Two years after the ulcerative colitis diagnosis, they decided I have Crohn's with bleeding ulcers in my colon. The bleeding slowed down eNORmously when I went on Rinvoq, a year and a half ago, but it didn't resolve the other digestive issues (ongoing daily diarrhea - I'm still in the bathroom 6 to 12 times a day).
During all this, I also showed up with A-fib, which does increase your risk of a stroke, thus them wanting to put in a Watchman. Clear as mud?
Anyway... the handsome young doctor (I'd say "be still my heart," but that would defeat the purpose, now wouldn't it! 😀) is the one who would insert the Watchman, but can't unless I'm on blood thinners.
I'm still bleeding. While the meds did slow it, it's never actually stopped. The handsome young doctor knows this. He wants to do this "challenge" to cover his own liability. I'm putting off both the challenge and the installation of the Watchman until I have at least six months of Skyrizi (for the Crohn's) on board and the bleeding has completely stopped. If it doesn't, I'm still not doing it.
So I said "no."
It was harder than I thought it would be.
Other than that, it's been a good day. Got my chores done, even the floors, and got the vacuum cleaners disassembled, vacuum filters that could be washed, the rest with the dust tapped off as well as possible, and, all that out under the carport drying off, and the vacuums themselves wiped down. First time in longer than I care to remember.
Later, babies,

Debbie ... I purposely have chosen a female GYN because she's gentle ... won't even use stirrups because she says so many older women have hip problems and complained. She then reassessed the reasons for stirrups during annual exams and said they weren't needed. I've been asked if interns can observe and I've been ok with that. Did you let your doctor know that the male intern's exam was painful? He needed to know that. I'm outspoken enough now in my life that I would have sat straight up and told him exactly what he was doing wrong! And graded him as well "F"
Annual Paps ... I've shared this before but I am in the camp that says I'll get a pap until I no longer care if I die from cancer. My mom developed cancer at 86 ... found with a pap smear ... and had a hysterectomy. She had a good quality of life up until the last two years. I guess my point is you can develop cancer after 65.

Learned that my good friend from college (56 yrs ago) passed away last night. She, like my brother, had chronic COPD and had been in and out of the hospital during the last 6 mos. My other friend and I visited her when she moved to assisted living and knew that she was going down fast. I am very sad as she was the only one from our group of friends who had lived in my area all these years and we enjoyed being together. The best thing to know is she was a devout Christian and I know she will be in a better place.

Rita--I would like to be Jinn (genie). Sounds like fun.
Heather--Sorry you are having so much pain. Pray the time until surgery goes fast.
Have big hospital dinner tonight. Once a year they have this big dinner at once of the country clubs to honor employees Who have been here 5,10,15,20 etc years. One of my staff has 5 years and going to be honored tonight. As his supervisor DH and I get to go with him and his wife. Last I heard they have about 35 they are honoring tonight over the years. I just want it over as not my idea of a night out. I just want to go home.

My dr for sure knew he was hurting me. She stepped up when I yelled and held my hand while he finished. The first time it really hurt, he apolgized and she stepped up and then he did it again even more. I had tears running down my face for a second.
She mentioned it is part of menopause causing dryness- I have had her do them each time even since menopause and they have never hurt like that.
I think here, they are covered up until age 65 and then most likely , have to request one and pay full price for it.
I will let them know when they send the follow-up survey.

Carol-sorry to hear about your friend. I remember you talking about her not long ago. I agree-she can be in a better place. The neurologist who advised it was time to take my husband off of vent after multiple strokes (basically brain dead) told all of us "there are much worse things than death."
Worked from home today. Pretty productive. Stood up from couch after lunch and lower back tightened up-been awhile since that has happened. Happened to have massage at 1:30. Marcus worked on it and hopefully it will resolve. Was able to go out for a 2.4 mile walk (a bit slow) but it was gorgeous out-still is for that matter.
Need to get dishes in dishwasher and finish up ironing that didn't get done over weekend.
