What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
This is NOT A DIET. Itβs a LIFESTYLE.
We are unstoppable not because we do not have failures but because we continue on despite them. - paraphrase of original quote by Beau Taplin

4/26 134.5 I expected a higher bounce since I ate most of a loaded baked potato. I got grilled shrimp instead of the intended lobster and passed on the warm loaves of bread.9 -

4/26- 147.6 - I definitely went over macros a bit (I logged 2oz of pasta but I had 3oz left of the package. I forgot to pull that extra ounce before making my plate) so I'm surprised at this drop. Yesterday was very very stressful but it set me up for some dedicated quiet work today while most people are off to hopefully finalize things on this project that's been stressing me out so bad for the past couple months. I've started dreaming of work which is an indication I need to step away. Hopefully by this time next week I can take a step back to breathe a bit (likely will travel Wed/Thurs next week). No dedicated workout today. Due to rain threat, I knocked out my 10 minute walk (Coach has daily goals of 10min walks, 80-90oz water, and 8-10k steps. These will increase). When it got light out, there was still no rain so I quickly snuck out with the dogs to get a second walk in and get outside in nature. Glad I did, it's rainy now and forecast to stay rainy all weekend! Meals are planned for macros and I'm feeling good.

4/26 - 204.4 Glad to be starting a new round. I fell off the wagon the last three days of the last round. Very frustrating when I was doing so well. It's amazing what can happen when you go back to those old habits. The end of the month of April will be in this round and I had a goal to achieve. I'm going to be focused on that and do the best I can. Well here's to a new start and a new day.

π¦πποΈββοΈten more days to a lighter me! Last round found me going the wrong direction. I felt tired and hungry most of the time. I need to get control of whatever is going on and turn this train around. Pushing the water, holding off on after dinner snacks, keeping up the 10,000 plus steps and adding in some ST. Hereβs to a smaller number at the end of this round!

RND 258 (my 11th)
SW (first round) 155.8
SW (this round) 148.1
I have missed a few rounds. I started Round 256 but then ghosted the group on 4/11. Work, stress, and lifeβs general busy-ness of having two active teenagers and a million obligations got in the way of me doing the things I needed/wanted to do.
The majority of what pulls me off track is my job - I end up working late which then impacts the time I am able to spend with my family, which then impacts the time I have to focus on myself. At the end of everything, I get the short end and the time I give up is the time I should be using to stay mindful and focused. I am trying desperately to get my work-life under control - but so much of it is out of my control and I have a lot of responsibility and accountability to things that take time and work that I cannot do myself. I am financially responsible for my family so quitting or finding another job (there are not a lot of jobs like the one I do in the area I live) is not an option. I go in waves of mentally committing to leaving work at a normal time and getting my life back to convincing myself that if I just put the time in now, it will make it better tomorrow or next week or next month and I will have the time then - but it never works out that way - I just work a lot and then work more. I end up in the endless loop of giving time to give time to lose time where I need it most.
Goals this round:
- Stay committed to logging daily - holding myself accountable to the necessity of staying mindful and focused on my personal health and fitness goals
- Complete all of my planned training sessions - running AND strength. When time is limited, I always give up the strength training (because I donβt really like it) - but it should not be βeither-orβ - it just needs to be both
- Commit to recovery - stretching and spending quiet time to relax each day - this is the one that almost NEVER happens - the priority at the end of the list - the easiest one to skip. I have never built a good habit of this so it becomes an afterthought (if I think of it at all in the time-starved chaos of my life).
4/26 - 148.5 - slightly up from yesterday and the day before - but overall down from last week. Starting to be mindful and getting back to logging my meals. I managed to run 3 times and get two strength training sessions so far this week - and I was HUNGRY last night. I donβt think this morningβs weight reflects the impact of my constant eating binge from yesterday. I was +719 calories for the day π―. Today is a rest day for me. Feels good to have earned it - I completed all of my planned training sessions (so far) for the week. It feels strange not to be scrambling to try to βmake-upβ a workout I skipped earlier in the week. It also feels strange not to have that guilt and pressure of having missed or skipped a workout (or two, or three). I have grown so used to feeling that way, the absence of it today is very noticeable. I would like to feel this way more often.

I also thought I would throw out there an old topic that arose at dinner last night. We discussed the concept of "you can't out exercise a bad diet". My last few weeks/month in Florida speaks to that. As the conversation went, yesterday, I walked 6.66 miles (not including general daily activities). Group pace was slow and it took 2 hours, and my active calories were 380 cal. Now, when I get on a Ben and Jerry's bender, I eat two pints in 30 minutes. If those calories are on top of my daily caloric needs, we are looking at around 2400 excess calories. At the group walking pace, and caloric burn rate, it would take me 12.6 hours of walking to burn those extra calories off. Not sure why I am bringing this up. Maybe it is more me journaling and reminding myself of things I need to keep in mind as I get back on track. Anything, exercise is wonderful and does great things for ones heath, so do it. BUT, as we know here on MFP, tracking and monitoring our calories has great value when monitoring ones weight. Sherri (me) needs to remember this!!
@SModa61 It's very true that you can't outrun the fork. Thanks for the reminder. It couldn't come at a better time for me! BTW I go back and forth with the salty then sweet and it can definitely ruin a perfect day otherwise. I think I've mentioned it on here before that I have been known to keep a little salt and a little sugar on a small plate so when this starts happening in my mouth I can just dip my wet pinky in each one back & forth if needed instead of actually eating something. Yes, it's still a few small calories/carbs but better than eating multiple whole snacks. The other downfall is that it is not telling my body "no" or retraining it in any way, but sometimes it will get me through a bad bout of salt to sweet to salt and the end maybe justifies the means?
@deepwoodslady Amazing that your pinky dip trick can stop the craving. I will certainly keep that one in mind and give it a try! Thanks for the pointer.

@quiltingJaine saltines and butter. I have certainly treated myself to that goodies, but neglected to give myself a limit. There's the issue for me - limits.8 -

History:Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two βkidsβ, who are very much adults, a DGS, and second GS on the way. We have two parents, 87(mother), 85(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an βall in or notβ person. Hubby and I seeing our family home and downsizing distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse (father has since passed and I am DPOA, Personal representative AKA executor, trustee, and oversee the majority of my motherβs care). A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

@deepwoodslady definitely learned the hard way that you can't out run a bad diet! I was great at exercising to balance out calories, but then Covid hit, gyms closed and old habits came back (wine and chips @smodell1). Being under 5 feet and with a BMR that is around 1000 when at goal weight makes it hard to eat with out some form of extra activity if I want to have that glass of wine (and need to set better limits!)

@StatChicBayes i would not be able to handle a limit of 1000 calories/day. That is truly challenging.
Btw I used to know Durham well. A long time ago I went to Duke.6 -
π· 66 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 258 (my 188th). So grateful @Quiltingjaine for another round.
Goals for this round; to lose! To be consistent and lose something; to get back into the 130s! Strive to have a feeding frenzy free π. Good luck everyone for a successful round.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, itβs taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

GW Maintaining between 124 - 126
Continuing to figure out maintaining, and to work on best nutrition and exercise.

Finishing the day meeting my βparty animalβ friend for a drink. Iβve been putting it off for weeks. I will have to be strong and not go to a second location- that is always what gets me in trouble. DH has an alarm set to come pick me up so I donβt get caught in the whirlwind.11
