Congratulations on such an awesome first trail run @kgirlhart ! Love the bling and congrats on the 1st place Master's and overall finish! You are amazing!
Thanks and Hahaha @tarun_yadavA ! It's always a disappointment when you are a teenager and plan to stay up late for a special occasion and wind up falling asleep. I remember doing that....I can remember a few things that far back. You did great with the run despite it all.

I got home around 1 pm today from the tennis tournament. We only had one match this morning. It was against another team that had lost all of their matches too, so the winner would NOT be the overall looser. Unfortunately, that wasn't us...we lost. My partner and I just couldn't get it together today...especially for the first set...and lost 0-6. The second set we played a lot better and it was closer than the score indicated, at 1-6. Just glad to get one game. Our opponents were super nice. We won one of the other courts, but lost the third one...so close, but no cigar. It was a fun weekend with the ladies.
After I got home, I did a 1.25 mile driveway wun. I just wanted to get it over with so when I unpacked, I could wash all the dirty clothes and get ready to pack again tomorrow.

Neighborhood 1Mile (at 13"07 ). Day 18, I ran whilst still daylight... it's better, I have to do this more often.5

Thanks @chris_in_cal, @tarun_yadavA, @daria0919, @martaindale, @teresa502 and @quilteryoyo. I am a bit sore today, so just did a little yoga and rested.
@quilteryoyo Sorry the tennis didn't go your way this time, but it is awesome that you were able to compete.
@teresa502 I bet that mama goose was kind of scary.3 -
I haven't posted here in a while but I am still getting out to walk with Hobbes the Vizsla when I can and running vicariously by reading about you alls' runs and exploits. We went up the coast for a few days and Hobbes and I hiked around Fiscalini Ranch preserve. I planned to do around 2 miles but got lost and ended up with over 3.5. Hobbes had a run in with some foxtails so earned a visit to the ER vet and the opportunity to make a fashion statement 😁
@kgirlhart - Congratulations on your first trail run and 1st place!
@tarun_yadavA - beautiful picture of London at night and some great runs even when you weren't feeling great! Love the pictures of your little guy sleeping on the couch.
@TheMrWobbly - was that a race or just a long run? Either way the views are fantastic and worth the effort to get up there!
@Mari33a - great NSV with taking in those dresses!
@martaindale - what HM are you running in Idaho? I grew up there and one of my last races pre-pandemic, was the Jack and Jill Downhill HM in Boise. We actually ran down the road to the local ski resort, through town and ending at one of the large parks downtown. There are a couple up north in the mountains (Coeur d'Alene and Priest Lake) as well as one in the Tetons, that I would love to run if I was still able.
@quilteryoyo - Sounds like a fun tennis getaway even if the games didn't go well.5 -
Morning all!
Got in 6.66M (at 09"49).
@shanaber lovely to see you (+Hobbes!) again
@quilteryoyo great effort on the tennis!
No- it wasn't the 15 year old. It was the nine year old. Which is why my wife was getting pissy at me wanting to stay up till 12:30am/1 ...
And of course, I heard all about it - when he crashed on the couch before Round1 even started!
(Was too tired to run with me on Sunday too! Haha!)4 -
I have just found this challenge after setting myself a rather ambitious one year goal for May 2025: to beat my previous half marathon PB, just over a week before I turn 50. For context I haven't run since 2020 when plantar fascitis put a stop to training so I'm now very cautiosly starting back up by using Couch 2 10k, and my goal for this month is to stay on track with the programme and reach week 5.7

Welcome @josefinejem sounds like a smart May goal. With this amazing group you give a little and get a lot in return. I've never battled Planar Fascitis but I know a few have, I haven't set a big audacious HM goal, but some are working on that right now.
WRT weight, there are maintainers here who are living wonderful full lives with running, fitness, and activities. It's very inspiring. Good luck and I hope to see you around.

Welcome to this group @josefinejem!
I found this group last fall and it motivated me to start back up after a good 8-9 years of not running. They inspired me to train for a 10K and I followed a training program and succeeded in completing my 10K in April. A 10K is a great starting point.
Stick with this group and be inspired and cheered on! Feel free to post your runs/walks/whatever here and you’ll find loads of support!
Looking forward to getting to know you 😀

I got out for a 3.5 mile run this morning. I was pretty sore yesterday, and still a bit sore today, but the run felt good. It was a little windier than I like, but not too bad. Since I ran a shorter run I didn't have to get out as early and it was already light when I headed out.
Thanks @shanaber! I'm glad you were able to get out for a hike. The pictures are beautiful, but poor Hobbes!

Welcome @josefinejem! That's a big goal. Good luck! This group will cheer you on every step of the way.@martaindale - what HM are you running in Idaho?

It was tough today. 72F, 96% humidity. I'm not ready for summer. I forgot my salt tabs and last few miles were hard, prob because I was getting dehydrated. And to top it all off, I'm experiencing PF for the first time ever. Really?!? It's annoying not debilitating but I need it to clear up. If it's still sore in the morning I'll skip my run.
6 -
Thanks @shanaber and @kgirlhart .
I love that you are getting out and doing what you can @shanaber . I love all of the pictures from your trip.
Thanks @tarun_yadavA . Nice running. I'm disappointed that your 9 year old didn't suck it up and run with you on Sunday. You have some teaching to do there.
Welcome to the group @josefinejem ! Sounds like a sensible plan to getting back into running. Check in here often. It's a great group.
Nice recovery run @kgirlhart .
@martaindale I'm sorry you are experiencing PF. I hope it clears up with a rest day or two.
I just walked a fast mile on the driveway today in the middle of packing and doing all the things that need to get done before heading out for a week in MI tomorrow. Mom and I also went to see my grand-niece graduate from Preschool this evening. It was fun. All the littles did great with their songs. Too cute.

Neighborhood 1Mile (at 12"25 ). Day 20. As i challenge, for a little bit, I'm going to try and keep them all under :13 min/mile.9

Life is busy right now but have been reading and liking your posts!
After forgetting my watch at Parkrun, I managed my second fastest time and once again was only beaten by the ginger ninja by a matter of maybe 20 seconds (I’m on a mission to catch him this year).
On Sunday I headed into the forest for the first time in months – my iron levels are now high enough where I can run distance again. So nice being back out there and it was the absolute perfect weather for running. Loved it.
The tennis looks like a load of fun @quilteryoyo, keep up the good work.
Good to see you still powering on @chris_in_cal, absolutely smashing your streak.
And you, @tarun_yadavA, continue to impress me with your ability to get out and get it done regardless of the quality of your sleep or nutrition!
Wowsers @themrwobbly, a 20 mile trail run! Nice (totally hear you on the steep downhills and mud – they are so not my thing, I can’t run either very well).
The Possum’s Revenge sounded great @kgirlhart. Look at you winning the Masters! Love it. Well done.
I hear you on the geese @teresa502. I used to run at Western Springs park here in Auckland, which has a lot of waterfowl, and I know I’m not the only one who no longer does thanks to the geese and swans (quick trivia question: are white swans as nasty as black swans?)
Good to see you @shanaber. Poor Hobbes, he looks like he needs a hug.
Welcome @josefinejem. Nice goal. I’ve just hit 50 and trying to work my way back up to my half marathon PB, which I set less than three years ago but am miles away from now. I've got a lot of work to do. On that note, I've just signed up for the Auckland Half Marathon Series which gives me five events from October to April, hopefully by the final one I'll be getting close.

Morning all.
Got in 6.42M (at 09"53).
@quilteryoyo love the pics!
@ContraryMaryMary aww thanks... And go, you!! 5 Half Marathons!! 🙌🏽6 -
@TheMrWobbly - was that a race or just a long run? Either way the views are fantastic and worth the effort to get up there!
A training run @shanaber as @eleanorhawkins has planted the idea of a 50k trail run next year.
Welcome @josefinejem , I have a few HMs lined up but nothing at pace though there are others here that are quick.
Two days of travelling done. Watched my team get trounced at Wembley on Sunday. At least I had a good time with offspring no.2.

I ran 5.39 miles this morning It was 59F and low humidity. Very nice. Got this picture of the moon as I was leaving my house at 4:15 am. @tarun_yadavA – Meant to tell you that you son looked adorable there snuggled on the sofa. He may not have made it to the end of round 1 but he will remember this time hanging out with dad for a long time.
Good to see you @shanaber. Sorry Hobbes had to go to the ER vet but he still looks as dapper as ever with his new headpiece!
Welcome @josefinejem!
Safe travels @quilteryoyo and have fun! Grand-niece is so cute and obviously happy to see you and your mom.
@martaindale – Hope the PF clears up quickly!
The ginger ninja! Cute @ContraryMaryMary! I believe all your hard work is paying off and you are back to your speedy self.
Glad you had a good trip @TheMrWobbly.
You are killing it @chris_in_cal!
@kgirlhart – glad the soreness is easing away. Hope you stresses at work are also getting better.

Hey! A bit late to the game this month but my goal is to run 40 miles per week. Some will be outdoor runs and others will be on a treadmill when I mix in some weight training. Looking forward to being a part of this challenge moving forward!! 🥳
5/20- 4.2 miles8 -
Hi everyone!
I haven’t had much time to post lately but just caught up reading! You guys are all doing great!
@chris_in_cal Great job with the streak!
@kgirlhart Excellent race! Congratulations!
@Teresa502 I‘ve read a lot about trail days as a “passive” AT hiker. It’s really cool that you don’t live far from it and got to be a part of it!
@quilteryoyo Sorry about the tennis losses! But you seem to still always have fun playing!
@ContraryMaryMary Great job with your park runs! You are doing great getting speed workouts into your week!
@martaindale Hope you PF feels better tomorrow!
@tarun_yadavA I know ALL about those kind of bed time discussions (and I am almost always the more lax one on the bedtime discussions). Very funny how it turned out .
Welcome @swarthoutw ! 40 miles a week is a high bar! I assume you’ve been running for awhile? Welcome to the group!
Welcome @josefinejem!
@shanaber Sorry to hear about the foxtails! Hope Hobbes is feeling better!

I have noticed a bit of a sag in motivation since my April month of racing. I finally decided to lean into it in a (hopefully) controlled and short term way, by taking a couple of rest days over the weekend. Today, I went on a 9.5km run, followed by a 0.8km run around the block with 2 of the kids who were off school today. The 9.5km would have been a nice run except there were SOOOO many slugs. Literally thousands. I knew I couldn’t dodge them all and the thought of squishing them under my shoes, occupied my whole entire run.
Yesterday I went on a couple of loops with the kids and a big loop without, getting in 5km. The older kids and I all have a local race this Sunday.
On Friday I did some speed work. It was pretty hard mentally to get it done, but I did and ran 13.6km.
121.5/160km for May.8 -
Thanks for the welcome everyone!
@chris_in_cal PF is, quite literally, a major pain: I have tried to start running again several times in the last four years (sometimes too soon/ before fully recovered) but always had to stop within a couple of weeks. I *think* I've got the triggers and rehab exercises worked out now, so just hoping it will hold.
@daria0919 Well done for getting back to it after such a long break! That's reassuring. I can't wait to be able to do 10k again.
@martaindale It is a very big goal! I am aware it may not happen, but I needed something ambitious so that I know that I can't slack off if I'm going to have any chance of achieving it.
@ContraryMaryMary Good luck, that sounds like a great challenge! I'll make sure to keep an eye on how you get on.
Today is a rest day running-wise (not mad, the weather is horrible), so have just been doing some bodyweight exercises and rehab stretching.

@Laurz9191 Thanks! I meant 40 miles a month! Not per week… 🤦🏻♂️5

Thanks @ContraryMaryMary , @Teresa502 , and @Laurz9191. That's a beautiful trail @ContraryMaryMary. I'm glad you are feeling good running again. That is also a beautiful shot of the moon @Teresa502.
I got out today for 5.6 miles. It was 77F with 16 mph winds. I started out running into the wind and felt like I was running in place. It was better after I changed directions, but it was a pretty slow run. It is getting light earlier and I saw a couple of walkers and a runner out. I also saw a couple of skunks this morning. The first one was just crossing the street about a half a block in front of me. The second one I saw when I got home. When I get up in the mornings I let my dog out and then bring her in before I leave for my run. Sometimes I just leave the backdoor open while I am getting ready so she can come in when she wants to and I just shut the door when she comes in. This morning when I got home I noticed that the backdoor was still open. When I went to shut it I saw a skunk outside on the patio. He didn't see me. He went under the gate and disappeared down the alley. I am so glad he did not come into the house, and that Pup wasn't outside when he was out there. I also did not let her out until I came home for lunch today.

Welcome @swarthoutw .
Nice picture @Teresa502 .
Great running everyone.
I did a mile walk once we got to the hotel and ate today. I wish we had gotten here early so I could have ran... such a nice trail around a golf course just across the street. Made for a faster walk than usual, 13:44 min for the mile.
We only have about a 3.5 hour drive tomorrow, so won't be in any hurry getting started. Maybe I should run in the morning before breakfast. I'll see.8 -
Neighborhood 1Mile (at 12"37 ). Day 21. Near full moon, beautiful weather and run.
Three weeks of running every day. It's a good thing.
