Calorie carnage incoming! (Tonight, tomorrow and Sat! )
Birthday celebration? You know those calories don't count when it's YOUR birthday right?
Haha, thanks @Teresa502
Technically only covered for tonight then! Lol
Family today; guys' night tomorrow; wider family (mum, sis etc) Saturday dinner.4 -
Greetings - I'd like to be part of this Challenge group.
I've recently begun Power Walking. Want to keep things low impact.
So, for today : 3.1 miles at a 15.5 min pace.

Welcome @Vio_let23
Sounds like a good start.
Bookmark this chat thread, it is the goto for the whole month. Come on everytine you complete you run (walk) and post it. Here.
At the beginning of a new montly thread you post your goal for the month, then during the month you post how it is going, and at the end of the month you post how you did compared to your initial goal.
It is good accountability, it mives quickly as everyone is posting their runs, then it ends and everyone starts again fresh.
If you are committed, it is a good place to keep your plan going.. it's never dull.7 -

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!3 -
Hi everyone. It was raining this morning and I didn’t want to chance the millions of slugs and rain, so I went to the gym and did some repeats. I ran 7.5km, then did some strength training. It was sweaty and enjoyable .
129/160km for May.6 -
Happy Birthday @tarun_yadavA! I expect pictures of something fried and/or super rich along with some beers will be coming our way. Have fun celebrating!
Welcome @Vio_let23 and @swarthoutw. Jump right in and ask any questions you might have along the way!quilteryoyo wrote: »We only have about a 3.5 hour drive tomorrow, so won't be in any hurry getting started. Maybe I should run in the morning before breakfast. I'll see.
Morning running?!? Who are you?I have noticed a bit of a sag in motivation since my April month of racing.
I went through this big time earlier this year after a couple years of lots of training and big goals. Purposefully cutting back and taking some pressure off helped a lot and I feel like I’m getting my motivation back now that I have a new goal of working my fitness back up post-illness. I predict you’ll find your groove after a little mental break.

The weather was TERRIBLE this morning. 78F, feels like 86 at sunrise. So I opted for the treadmill. I found a couple of shorter interval runs that added up to about an hour. My foot felt ok after a day of TLC and I only noticed a little twinge here and there. Basically, not bad enough that I would have thought anything of it on a normal day. I was originally planning on about an 8 mile run but figured the risk-reward was weighted too heavily in the risk direction so opted for an easier run. So far, it feels ok. Not totally normal but not bad. I won’t be running for a couple of days because of work but plan on a shake out Saturday morning before heading to the airport.6 -
Happy Birthday @tarun_yadavA!! Enjoy your several days of celebrating and food/drink carnage!! Multiple days of birthday celebrating is so much fun!! 🎂🍰🧁🥮🍻🍻
Welcome @Vio_let23 and @swartoutw - this is a great group! And @chris_in_cal did a great job of explaining how this thread works.
Great job on your streak @chris_in_cal!
Yikes! A skunk @kgirlhart!! Glad it didn’t make it inside and glad your pup didn’t get sprayed! I think that’s worse than my neighborhood bear.
@Laurz9191 I know what you mean regarding the squishing of slugs!! That’s my issue with worms after we have a lot of rain.
Great runs everyone!! 👏🏻👍🏻💪5 -
Same run this morning as yesterday. Worked a lot harder to be 30 seconds slower. Looking forward to rest day tomorrow!6
-
@martaindale @daria0919 @Teresa502 @Laurz9191 Thanks ladies! 😊
Kids, Beer and Birthday cake (cinnamon swirl, cream cheese frosting, candied pecans and cinnamon toast crunch) - all in one pic!
Today was a good day!
Guys' night tomorrow. <<Gulp>>8 -

Love it @tarun_yadavA - if anyone can do it, and follow it up the next day with a five miler, you can! Happy birthday.4
-
You're doing great with your streak @chris_in_cal !
Thanks @tarun_yadavA ! Great running and love the new shoes! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I agree with @Teresa502 . Birthday calories don't count! What a GREAT picture of you and your boys and the cake! It looks yummy.
Welcome @Vio_let23 ! Great power walk today.
Great run on the TM @Laurz9191 . From your description of the slugs, I wouldn't want to run "on" them either. Besides being gross, it sounds like it would be slick and dangerous.
Hahaha @martaindale . It's still me. I didn't run this morning - it was just a thought. Actually, I might have if it hadn't been raining/storming. I'm glad that your foot isn't too bad. I hope it stays that way. Probably a good idea to take it easy on the treadmill today.
Great running @yirara . Strength training will be helpful in the long run.

I didn't run this morning due to a storm at the hotel. Fortunately, it quit before we left for the last leg of the trip. Once we got to the hotel in Heartland MI, I did a walk in the parking lot. It was hot (82F, 27.8C) with a 16 mph wind. Garmin messed up, so I walked 15 min and then figured the correct mileage from the Connect graph as being 1.10 mile. Still was 4.4 mph, which is fast, but was consistent with yesterday's flat walk.
I asked the hotel clerk if he was going out to eat tonight, where would he go, and he said, "Black Rock Bar and Grill" just across the street from the hotel. So, we did. In honor of @tarun_yadavA 's birthday, food pictures under the spoiler.
This restaurant is unique in they/you cook the steak on a 755F (402C) volcanic rock. They start it and then you can just do bite size pieces and cook it a bite at a time so each bite is hot and yummy! I haven't had steak in a long time. This one was really, really good! If you are ever near one of these restaurants, I highly recommend giving it a try. I'm pretty sure the one we went to is the original. From Google, it looks like there are now about 16 locations. Most are in MI, with a couple in OH, FL, and MD.
Steak coming to the table.
My steak that I'm cooking a bite at a time.
View from the trail I walked last night.8 -
@tarun_yadavA - Happy Birthday!! Have fun with all the celebrations!! That cake looks great and your boys are adorable!
@martaindale - It is probably too close to your race to try anything new but you might check out KT tape wraps for PF. Maybe for after the race if it is still hurting. I am so excited and admittedly envious that you are running the Coeur d'Alene HM! It should be beautiful and hopefully the weather is nice for you!
@quilteryoyo - great finding a good place for a run along the way. Too bad the weather didn't cooperate for a morning run to check out more of the trail. Too bad there aren't any of those restaurants in So Cal! The steak looks delicious!4 -
Morning everyone!
Thanks everyone for your kind words! 😊🙏🏽
Got in a very painful 6.54 miles (at 10"07 pace).
Out again tonight with the Guys'...
PS: @quilteryoyo love the pics! Yum!
PPS: it was a dig at going month-day... I may as well start quoting the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit lol6 -

I didn't post yesterday, but I did run yesterday and I took a rest day today. I ran 6 miles. It was hot, 77F and humid, 94% and windy, 16 mph. But it was light when I got out and I enjoyed the run. I didn't see any skunks on the run, but when I got home I saw one in my neighbor's yard. Today I decided to have a rest day and just did an hour yoga practice.
They posted pictures from the race. There were a few others, but these were the best.

Good morning and Happy Friday! The Friday of a long weekend for some of us in the US. I met a friend and ran 5.29 miles this morning. Another foggy and humid one after overnight storms.8 -
Hi everyone!
I ran 6.6km this morning. It was a bit chilly out but not too chilly for shorts and a t-shirt.
144.6/160km for May.
@tarun_yadavA If anyone can run 10km a day to finish the month (hungover or not) it’s you!
@chris_in_cal I believe you can run under 12. Just give yourself time. Also try to vary your speed, and let yourself go easier some days! That will keep your motivation up .
@Teresa502 and the other USers Enjoy the long weekend! We had a long weekend last weekend in Germany .4 -
Morning - Hope everyone has a great day !
Yesterday I walked 4 miles in about 62 minutes.
Mile1 - 15:23, Mile2 - 14:56, Mile3 - 15:14, Mile4 - 15:56
I also discovered that I need to tie my shoes properly each time I put them on. Otherwise my feet slide.

Maybe once a week I'll set aside for running "fast" and the rest I'll try to hit some target (say 12:10), and once I week I'll go to the beach and stretch it out a little in a longer run.9
