What Mini Goal is motivating you right now!

My mini goal is a 6-week challenge to support my friend who is going to be a June bride. I've given up soda in solidarity so she isn't tempted to drink the empty calories. I'm also focusing on my 90+ grams of protein a day.4

I am FAR ahead of my target goal!! 😳 I weigh myself infrequently at an accurate Community Centre scale so that I am able to focus on my target....and not the scale. Approximately once a month. I was at my family doctor on Monday.....and she always weighs me regardless as to why I'm there.....and even dressed in street clothes and shoes I was amazed. She agreed I looked fitter. The following morning, Tuesday, I couldn't wait to walk to the Community Centre!! Usual routine.....before breakfast....same leggings and shirt. Her scale was correct! Well, hers was exactly 2.2 pounds more.....and she always allows 2 pounds for clothes and shoes. The Community Centre scales continue to be accurate. I've not only SURPASSED my goal.....Although I am still in the "Overweight" Category......I am now only FIVE pounds away from being in the "Marginally Overweight" Category.
"I weigh 160.6 pounds and I am SO PROUD of myself to have kept up the work. My NEXT mini goal which is HIGHLY MOTIVATING me right now is that Marginally Overweight Category of 155 pounds. My time frame is September 1st. (I believe in giving myself extra time and allowing my body time to adjust to its new weight)
WOW! i'm really ahead of my goal. I'm down to 158.....only THREE pounds to go, New goal date.....mid June.8 -
I am more motivated than I've been in years! My daughter graduates college in twelve months and I have a big number high school reunion in 14 months. I'm focusing on losing two pounds per week through a complete lifestyle overhaul. That 100 pounds I've gained due to injuries, illnesses & menopause is going bye-bye! I can't wait to be back to my normal healthy self. Who knows, I might even be able to start running again after a 16-year hiatus. Wouldn't that be fabulous?!9

Rebalancing my gut biome in order to prevent future bouts of Gout. The happy side-effect is that it, in addition to eating better, should improve my metabolism and ability to lose weight.8

Getting out of plus sizes. I'm a 1X in shirts and an 18 in pants. When i reach XL and 16 (the biggest "regular" size) I'll be quite pleased with myself.11

Youngest daughter is graduating from college in a few weeks. Older daughter is getting married in August, and my 40 year high school reunion (;-O) in September! Lots of people that I haven't seen in a while.7

It's been a while since my last update, my mini goal was to get my BMI under 30 which I have done! Sitting around 28 right now. The mini goal I've been working towards since then is to get under 80kg and it looks like I'll hit that goal in the next couple of weeks. The past few weeks I've been starting to get some comments from people noticing my loss, which is definitely giving me a motivation boost. Getting close to 100lbs down in total, which feels surreal! I still don't "feel" like I'm much smaller even though realistically I know all my old clothes are way too big now.11

I reached my latest mini goal this morning when I weighed in and saw that I have finally lost a total of 65 pounds since Feb 2022 (when I was diagnosed with metabolic syndrome.) I focus on 5 pounds at a time and it generally takes me around three months to achieve that. My blood glucose is in prediabetic range now and I'm off metformin. By the end of the year, I should be out of the obese category. That will be one crazy celebration!!12

UPDATE! I only have 1.8 pounds to go to get out of the obese category!! Let's hope I'm celebrating this summer!17

My minigoal right now is eating consistently in a way that moves me forward. I need to lose 20-30 pounds to support my heart (I had a valve replacement and I have Congestive heart failure) as well as supporting my joints with other chronic illnesses. Eating a consistently healthy diet, avoiding all of my food sensitivities and eating in a calorie deficit are the foci. I'm not worried about the weight loss because I know it will happen with the focus on healthy eating.11

@AmyDahlTorres Fantastic progress, you are doing a fabulous job! Congrats on the 65 lbs you no longer have to carry around every day, and all those other health improvements
@Caeli11 Congrats on your (almost) 100 lbs lost, what an achievement! I think it is very important to adjust our self-perception as we work on losing weight. I noticed early on that I really had no concept of what I looked like, or what I was hoping to look like someday. I realized that this absence of an accurate self-image in my mind was probably a factor in how I had gained so much weight to begin with: it's easy to put on a huge amount of weight when you see yourself the way you are in your mind, rather than how you really look in the present moment.
I thought perhaps looking at pictures of people at my (then-) height and weight would allow me to form a mental image of myself both where I started, and also where I was headed. I found this cool website and as I have been losing weight (80 lbs down now) I have visited repeatedly to update the weight range and look at more "people like me." (You can change the gender, weight, and height to your own, using the drop-down menus at the top). I usually seek out one or two people who have a similar body shape as me.
Now that I have lost a fair amount of weight, I sometimes return to look at the "previous me's" for comparison. This whole process has helped me see myself more realistically, and it has also given me a better idea of what to expect as I continue losing weight. I also make a point to look at myself in the mirror every chance I get, as well as look at photos of myself. Anything to help my brain adjust, so I can really see myself the way I am, at whatever size.8 -
I am 180 after being 120 my whole life. I feel awful and my thyroid was finally found to be the reason. A lifetime of never having to watch what I eat leaves me indiciplined. I want to feel attractive again!

My personal favourite is Model My Diet. I LOVE IT! YOU BUILD A LITTLE MODEL THAT LOOKS LIKE YOU IN AN APPROPRIATE OUTFIT THAT SUITS YOU......ADD YOUR HEIGHT AND WEIGHT.....LOCK IT IN.....AND FOREVER MORE....."watch" as you lose the weight and literally see yourself at different weights. It's really eye opening! You can set yourself at your highest weight to now.....your dream weight.....your current goal weight. As your model looks like you, it's amazing to see the difference in yourself at ten pounds! Simply Google Model My Diet and start!5 -

Model My Diet is a cool concept, but my body shape is way different than what it allows me to adjust for, so it's not particularly helpful to me. Probably fun for most people to play with, though

This is so true! I definitely had no idea what I looked like, and my tendency to avoid mirrors/pictures didn't help either. Thank you for the link, that's so helpful! My big wakeup call was seeing a Youtuber who used to be the same weight/height/build as me, and seeing what they looked like at a healthy weight vs the weight I was at.
I made it down to 79kg this week! Only 10(ish) to go, and I'm still losing quite fast, maybe too fast, so I'm upping my intake with 300-400kcal, and I'll start focusing on exercise to build some more muscle as well.5 -

Last week I reached my goal!! 😍 154.5 pounds. I became highly motivated and lost the final five pounds in one month. I am now OFFICIALLY crossed over into the MARGINALLY OVERWEIGHT category.......which is a BMI of 26.5
I'm in Canada and years ago, a Canadian Physician, Dr. HALL.....set about modernizing the Standard BMI chart. He felt the parameters were too loose.....with no allowance for age, muscle mass, etc.
The result was a more "balanced" BMI chart that is now becoming more universally accepted in North America. The BMI chart sets 29.9 as OVERWEIGHT. 26.5 as MARGINALLY OVERWEIGHT. This would be the point where you can ACCURATELY say...... "I need to lose another 10 to 15 pounds". 😊
NORMAL is 24.5 The BEST thing I feel is if you are are starting at an OBESE weight.....and moving into OVERWEIGHT.....the road to NORMAL seems like yet another large hurdle. However......the MARGINALLY OVERWEIGHT category, like any long journey, serves as a useful "rest stop" for your mind and body. You can pause at Overweight then continue.....pause at Marginally Overweight then continue. Or put less pressure on yourself to get to Normal weight category.
I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE interested parties to check it out. You may be already Marginally Overweight and decide, especially after a large weight loss, to enjoy your summer! Or may decide to make that your goal for years end.
Google DR. HALLS BMI CHART input your height, weight AND AGE. THIS IS WHERE HIS CHART DIFFERS.
My next Mini Goal is 150 pounds and a good closet clean out. My END OF YEAR goal is Normal Category. I will have lost 42 pounds in two years. 😀8 -
An additional thought......YEARS AGO when Dr Phil was the daytime guru......I watched an episode regarding weight loss. He had his usual professional panel of like minded guru's......and they came up with a BMI number that always stuck with me. They felt someone coming from an obese weight should aim for a BMI of 28
Their feeling was coming from a large BMI.....a 28 was an excellent number. They recommended staying at that BMI for at least a year....continuing on only if the weight loss could be sustained for one year. I believe in going slower because loose skin is a real fear of mine! 😭3 -
90 kg. i started at 98 kg a few months ago and am down to 92 now. When i get to 90 i will set my next mini goal7

Started at 301, just weighed in at 275 after 44 days. MFP helping me keep on track when limiting daily intake. Excited to go another 25!9

My mini goal is to get to a size 14 by July 15th when the next face-to-face team building exercise is for my company in Boston . Right now, I'm a loose size 16 (down from 18/20).7

Lol.....I unknowingly just SCORED a mini goal this week when I was able to not only fit into a small size goal dress.....but also pull up the back zipper without help! Due to a combination of weight loss and a consistent yoga practice for flexibility. Sometimes mini goals are long buried dreams that we've forgotten about. Keep your heart open ♥️ to ALL accomplishments in this journey.
@motherofcats2020 I remember being where you are Yes!! It's SO gratifying when someone sees you gradually getting smaller! I love your goal so much!! You'll make it! Size 14 by mid July!! Especially if they saw you at 18/20. I'm so Proud of you.....please post when you make it! 😉8 -
Mini goals, in order- Get to 170, get under 170, get to 165, get to 160, and ultimately to 145/150 (you get the idea). I hope to reach the second mini-goal by or before next doctor visit (June 17). I will see if I think I should push below the 145/150 when I get closer. I would love to be at 150 by my birthday (Sept. 19). That is 16 weeks and I haven't weighed yet, so I am guessing approximately 20 lbs.
Mini goals to help me get there-Add strength training to what I am doing. Become more consistent with walking with my dog. Including more protein and fiber in my diet.
