This means despite what I eat.....or what my level of exercise.....Obesity has been permanently kicked to the curb!! π I feel as though I have reached an exciting destination βΊοΈ. I plan to journey thru this Overweight Valley for a couple of seasons. Until I reach the next level which is "Minimally Overweight". Yes, it's a proper medical term. I will reach the next level once I lose 21 pounds...although my goal is 24 pounds.
I know that for me, slow and steady has been working with gradually changing habits. My next Mini Goal is to continue with my steps......my Minimally Overweight goal is this October/November 2024. This is 3 pounds per month. I've found that for me, just a couple of pounds a month has resulted in PERMANENT weight loss. Stay the course every one!! I'll be posting mostly in NSV Victories now as my priorities change to my improved fitness level.
I am FAR ahead of my target goal!! π³ I weigh myself infrequently at an accurate Community Centre scale so that I am able to focus on my target....and not the scale. Approximately once a month. I was at my family doctor on Monday.....and she always weighs me regardless as to why I'm there.....and even dressed in street clothes and shoes I was amazed. She agreed I looked fitter. The following morning, Tuesday, I couldn't wait to walk to the Community Centre!! Usual routine.....before breakfast....same leggings and shirt. Her scale was correct! Well, hers was exactly 2.2 pounds more.....and she always allows 2 pounds for clothes and shoes. The Community Centre scales continue to be accurate. I've not only SURPASSED my goal.....Although I am still in the "Overweight" Category......I am now only FIVE pounds away from being in the "Marginally Overweight" Category.
I weigh 160.6 pounds and I am SO PROUD of myself to have kept up the work. My NEXT mini goal which is HIGHLY MOTIVATING me right now is that Marginally Overweight Category of 155 pounds. My time frame is September 1st. (I believe in giving myself extra time and allowing my body time to adjust to its new weight)12 -
@spirittrail Bravo!!! Your progress, patience/self-compassion, and cheerful attitude are inspiring4

@takinitalloff Thank you so much for your kind words! π I am a strong believer in patience and self compassion because I have learned that progress and success is never a vacuum. It always takes teamwork. By that I mean....sometimes you have to look to YOURSELF to be your own cheerleader. I've learned our bodies are very powerful allies if we "listen" to our cravings, our pains, our signals that we are too full, there are many ways our bodies send us messages. We may SAY we want to lose 10 pounds in 12 weeks......but if we ignore thirst signals.....ignore the urge to stretch or walk for 10 mins rather than force an exhausting workout......or even just sleep for 15 hours because we are stressed...the road will be more difficult. So I'm always "listening".....I trust it much more than societies pressures. For example, my body is currently craving fruit...and is completely turned off by sodium. Just by listening and not eating out of habits...I know positive changes are happening as I slowly evolve towards reaching a "Normal" body weight. I'm not going to force it to happen, it's my very dear friend and it knows MUCH better than I do! π3

My newest mini goal is to make the mounjaro work for me. Im supposed to meet with a nutritionist to learn how to eat as a diabetic. (because I am type 2) And really my goal is to be one of those people who lost the weight and kept it off. My head is is a crazy space right now dealing with the new med side effects, having nightmares, and trying to tell myself this takes time.
Its gonna get better and Im going to make it.7 -

A sub mini goal [...] is get 8 hours of actual sleep every night, consistently.6 -
My mini goal right now is 139. I got a little sidetracked last year and gained some weight back, currently at 147. My reward will be to get my belly button re-pierced. I had a tummy tuck in January 23 and have a new one now. LOL I'm exercising daily and eating low carb.4

My mini goal is a 6-week challenge to support my friend who is going to be a June bride. I've given up soda in solidarity so she isn't tempted to drink the empty calories. I'm also focusing on my 90+ grams of protein a day.4

A vacation at the end of june and a wedding in august5

WOW! i'm really ahead of my goal. I'm down to 158.....only THREE pounds to go, New goal date.....mid June.8 -
I am more motivated than I've been in years! My daughter graduates college in twelve months and I have a big number high school reunion in 14 months. I'm focusing on losing two pounds per week through a complete lifestyle overhaul. That 100 pounds I've gained due to injuries, illnesses & menopause is going bye-bye! I can't wait to be back to my normal healthy self. Who knows, I might even be able to start running again after a 16-year hiatus. Wouldn't that be fabulous?!9

Rebalancing my gut biome in order to prevent future bouts of Gout. The happy side-effect is that it, in addition to eating better, should improve my metabolism and ability to lose weight.8

OHHHH! WEEK 1 DOWN! Navigating around to find safe foods but im down 7 pounds!7 -
Getting out of plus sizes. I'm a 1X in shirts and an 18 in pants. When i reach XL and 16 (the biggest "regular" size) I'll be quite pleased with myself.11

Youngest daughter is graduating from college in a few weeks. Older daughter is getting married in August, and my 40 year high school reunion (;-O) in September! Lots of people that I haven't seen in a while.7

It's been a while since my last update, my mini goal was to get my BMI under 30 which I have done! Sitting around 28 right now. The mini goal I've been working towards since then is to get under 80kg and it looks like I'll hit that goal in the next couple of weeks. The past few weeks I've been starting to get some comments from people noticing my loss, which is definitely giving me a motivation boost. Getting close to 100lbs down in total, which feels surreal! I still don't "feel" like I'm much smaller even though realistically I know all my old clothes are way too big now.11

I reached my latest mini goal this morning when I weighed in and saw that I have finally lost a total of 65 pounds since Feb 2022 (when I was diagnosed with metabolic syndrome.) I focus on 5 pounds at a time and it generally takes me around three months to achieve that. My blood glucose is in prediabetic range now and I'm off metformin. By the end of the year, I should be out of the obese category. That will be one crazy celebration!!11
