I love the newsfeed! Why are they taking it away? It really needs to be kept.

It’s been fun, but MFP has remove all the features that brought me here.
I’ve moved to the free app ryseapp.io to log my meals & workouts and encourage friends.

The newsfeed is being phased out gradually. I still have the newsfeed on my app, for example, but many people report that it's gone from theirs (forced update?) And I don't see it in the browser version of MFP anymore.1 -
Because this feature was removed.

Many people aren't happy about it:

It’s too late, it’s gone! It was probably a financial decision. A lot of us are migrating over to Lose It!16

If they take away the newsfeed, I will go somewhere else.19

I don't think there is much 'if' about it:

It’s a joke! I was told by them that no one used it! Lies….
I’m gutted the newsfeed is gone!! Think we need to give feedback!20 -
The newsfeed was the only reason I chose MFP over LoseIt. This community feature is really frustrating to use.
Find me - Railgrl - over at LoseIt.

If we can no longer see the newsfeed, what’s the purpose of having MFP friends now?35

Terrible decision to remove the News Feed.21

I agree! What's the point of having friends on here if we can't see each other's feeds and cheer each other on? I'm really bummed.29

Suddenly can’t find the newsfeed4

The same for me I can’t get it is well. I’m wondering if it’s because they want us all to go on to the payed version.6

I am so upset about this. I used my newsfeed every single day to encourage my friends.16

Bad enough the newsfeed is gone. Now I can't even log food. What a POS system. Goodbye MFP.4
-
This is terrible! My family and I have been logging every single day for 8 years and we always like each other's posts that we've completed our food diary for the day to keep us accountable. And when someone loses weight we can quickly congratulate them when it populates in the feed. All our history is in here but I'm going to have to look for a new app. I'm not going to go post in the community about finishing my food tracking every day. If I wanted to do that I could just text my family and tell them. Asinine decision that ruins user experience.18

I’m really not happy that the newsfeed has been removed. I logged in every day for years to check on my family, praise them, encourage them as well check on my own progress and that’s now all gone. What’s the point of staying with MFP.10

I don’t want to toggle to a community blog. I also notice that the cookie preferences are not saved even though they are selected so they can do more data mining if you don’t specify each time you log in. I’ve installed Lose It and will be transitioning to their app now. I sure hope the intelligencia at MFP have a great weekend watching their paid subscribers fall away. They made their announcement only a few days prior to implementation not to my email but buried in this blog that I don’t read. It is my opinion this carve out of our subscription is cause for legal action to those of us that pay on a yearly basis and we’re not informed when the subscription was renewed. As it stands I am owed 6 months refund.8

What’s even more maddening is as I read through so many great comments and outrage to the newsfeed stoppage where subscribers were communicating with family members over many years like myself. I also noted that MFP mogels claim that the newsfeed was not used very much. That is a flat out LIE! I believe the newsfeed was taking up too much disk space and this is a cost saving and tech salvation issue as they are loading up more and more realtime interactions within the diary space of comments and reactions to diary entries. In my experience as a professional health care provider their comments inserted into diary entries are elementary, inaccurate and a nuisance. .10

You can turn off their 'insights' in the diary settings2 -
Wow what a shame. There is zero point in having MFP friends anymore, or being encouraged by MFP friends encouraging you. They say it is because no one is using it anymore, but if they hadn't made it more difficult to see your feed in the first place (when they changed the layout) it would get used way more. I'm going to check out this other app people are talking about. If I can still log my food reliably there, I'm saying goodbye to MFP too, after NINE YEARS.5

I just logged in today and couldn’t find the Newsfeed 🤯😱😤🤬 This is horrendous. I love the newsfeed. It’s literally what motivated me to literally log in. Might as well cancel my subscription now as I’m no longer going to be motivated to log in.4

Are you guys just waking up? We have all transitioned to Lose It4

@NormInv well no one mentioned it in my feed I can't see anymore (on my phone - I can see the one on my PC for now) and I didn't think to check the community until today lol. Will go check out Lose It now...thanks for the suggestion.2

The newsfeed and being able to interact with friends was the only good thing about this app2

Why are you guys taking the news feed away? I like the news feed when it posts how much weight I've lost and when I've done exercise and completed my food diary. I loved mfp the way it was. Why can't you just put it back the way it was with the news feed and how much weight lost on the homepage?3
-
I completely agree 👍 put it back.10
