@pridesabtch - I’m with you on the looking pregnant.
I don’t know why I’m struggling so hard to get into a rhythm of losing and avoiding the junk. If I’m honest though, I truly think one reason is the cost of fruits and vegetables is ridiculous.
The other is I’m just tired of thinking of what to eat and ultimately reach for the junk everyone.

I think I struggle because I'm an emotional eater...and it doesn't matter what emotion it is! Happy? Celebrate with pizza and ice cream! Sad? Grab a bag of potato chips or chocolate bar. Angry? Find anything salty or sweet and shovel it in my mouth... Bored? Well, that's just a recipe for a bowl of chips and dip...or popcorn.
I have to learn to divert my brain to other activities when the urge to eat hits and I know I'm not really hungry. On a podcast I listen to, she says "How do you know if it's hunger or emotional eat? Grab an apple...if you don't want an apple, you ain't hungry!" Makes sense, actually.
At least we keep coming back and trying, right Tracy? If we didn't do that, just think where we'd be right now! :)

    Hello JFT Friends!

This week was another 3-month follow up CT scan of my chest, abdomen and pelvis. So, in true fashion for me, I spent the past week eating chips, pizza and ice cream--and I gained back 2 lbs eating that way for a week! So mad at myself, but I get so anxious about what may come back on CT scans and that's how I dealt with it. I shut my brain off with food. I've actually done pretty good with teaching myself the difference between actual hunger and emotional eating, and most weeks I've been able to stick to my daily food plan and not overeat or grab-*kitten*. But not last week. UGH. The GOOD news is that the scans showed no active disease, stable results again. YAY! 💥 And they tested my labs yesterday when I went for my treatment and my labs are almost all back to normal. Just a couple that are a little bit elevated but not alarmingly. That's the first time they've checked them since I finished chemo in early March, so that was fantastic news! I'm tolerating the immunotherapy drugs well also.

Today I have a PT appointment for my SI joint. Hopefully they can get it unstuck so I can start a daily walking routine and build some muscle back up! I really had a lot of muscle wasting sitting on my hinder during those chemo months. I can tell how weak I am every time I walk up our basement stairs. Oy!

My focus today is to eat nutritiously and increase my protein. I also have found that if I get my water in before 6 pm, I sleep much better at night. Less times I'm up running to the bathroom...TMI? lol

@cschmitz110515 What kind of things did they sell this time of year at the Saturday Farmer's Market? I haven't made it there yet and am wondering if it's worth going since no fresh veggies are available yet? Do they sell fresh eggs at the Saturday market? Yum. I used to get eggs from my friend up the road when we lived out in the country. They're so much better than store bought! Do you go to the Wednesday night market downtown, or the one on Thursday afternoon at the old Shopko on Military? I've been wanting to check the Military market out. Wednesday night market is so big I don't think I'm up to walking that much yet and I know the Military Avenue market is fairly small...

@pridesabtch Love the submarine! And the photo you posted...you look beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

@Snowflake1968 I have a dishwasher that we've used probably a total of 20 times since we moved in. I like to use it but husband does not because we always run out of silverware or serving utensils before we have enough dishes to run it. I always wanted one and now it doesn't get used. Ha! Story of my life... I don't really mind though. I find it settles my stomach to stand at the sink and hand wash the dishes after I finish eating.

Started feeling a little off/light headed yesterday late afternoon, so I took a nap when I got home instead of walking. We ended up with fast food for dinner, but I was still within calories for the day. I'll count that as a win.

Tonight is my designated evening to have a few drinks (trivia night), but I may drive tonight instead. I guess I'll wait and see how I feel. If I can't squeeze a shower in, I may not go at all.

@cschmitz110515 - CI< Co- yes that is a big one for sure. And I agree, trying to reestablish the idea that while food should be enjoyable I have to also think about it as not something to overindulge in. I come from a family of overeaters.. I guess I am realizing my idea of full or satiated needs to be a bit more under control. The quality of food I eat is actually pretty healthy overall. (minus the sweet tooth)

I think @PackerFanInGB hit the nail on the head- learn to divert our brain to other activities when the urge to eat hits .. its a mental game ...

@PackerFanInGB - great news on the scans.

One thing we can say is we aren’t giving up, I’m actually feeling once classes are done I’ll be able to keep up my steps for a bit. I hope I’m able to anyway.

Late posting but need to for my own accountability.

@PackerFanInGB Wonderful news on your recent scans! So happy for you! I've only gone to the Sat. farmers market so far this year, but I may try the others. Wed. hubby won't go, too many people and too much like a party instead of farmers market for him (and me sometimes, with all the alcohol). Early produce I've seen/bought: asparagus, lettuce, radishes, green onions, spinach, rhubarb. I know at least 4 vendors that sell eggs, plus honey, bread, Suzie Q Fish (out of Two Rivers), cheese, milk. Of course, this time of year there are plants too. We bought our herb and tomato plants there the first week. I still have my annuals (flowers) to buy, probably during next week when I have time to go to my favorite nursery.

Recap 6/5 W ~ more rain showers & humid weather UGH
    1) Supper? turkey burgers & leftovers / log all food / 64+ oz. :s I logged it all, and it wasn't pretty. But I was active, so that helped my daily w-i. 64 oz. water
    2) PT exercises? Walk dog? min. 7,500 steps :/ 5,775 steps
    3) Vacuum downstairs / podcast / read / other? cleaned Kitty's hallway, swept remaining downstairs floors, checked out this year's race virtual goody bag & event guide, more? TA-DA!

    JFT 6/6 R
    1) Supper? / log all food / 64+ oz. water
    2) Walked dog 4.02 mi  happy dog & happy me
    3) 2 loads laundry (read below) / wash dishes / depoop backyard / pull then replace yard do-dads & move picnic table for hubby to mow / read / other?

Today the weather has been partly cloudy and cool, but decent. I thought I'd take the chance that "scattered showers" predicted would miss us, and hung two loads of laundry out on the line this morning. The joke's on me. Right now we're in the middle our 2nd rain shower of the afternoon, wetting all the nearly dry laundry. So much for limiting the dryer use today. And hubby was nearly done with mowing when rain started the first time. I was shocked he kept going and finished in the rain; he always likes the grass to be completely dry when he mows. But as he pointed out, with all the rain lately, he wasn't going to wait again.

    About me:
    I'm Carmela
This is my lifestyle. It's. Not. A. Diet.

    2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
    • Try new recipes Unfortunately, no wall oven until mid-Feb or later & sad me, but try slow cooker & stove recipes... wall oven installed 2/26 but no new recipes yet.

I had to search back 12 pages to find my last post.. and I know I have missed so much inbetween.
Had a wonderful visit with our son, and grandkids. Watched our first grandson graduate from HS, then watched him coach flag football... 8 year olds. He loves it, and just found out his little team won the championship. So proud of that little guy (well.. hes' not little, hes 18, but little in my eyes).
I did write the discussions about how hard it is to lose weight, and how discouraging it it. Boy.. I can so relate. My weight is the same as it was on January 1st when I recommitted. That is even after 2 5-pound challenges. I just can't seem to get going, and stick with it. I do OK for a week.. then get off for 2-3 weeks.
But... to all of us struggling .. we are still here. We are still trying, and that is what is important. We are not giving up!
Since its pretty late in the day today, my only goal today is to not eat anything more tonite. My calories are right where they should be .. 1350... I am not hungry. But... usually, it doesn't matter. In the evenings I just want something to eat.
    So... tonite... no more eating.
And get back on here tomorrow.. be accountable.
Still working on the 5 pound challenge!
    Name is Joan. Age 73; 5'11". Been married 47+ years, 2 children, 2 grandkids ( + 3 step grandkids)
Lives in Missouri. I love to garden, go for long walks, quilt, sew charity stuff. My goal is to stay as "young" as I possibly can... to not only look good, but to feel good, have energy, be able to continue to get up and down gardening, biking, and walking.

    Goals for 2024:

    Staring weight: Jan 7, 2024: 209.0
Goal weight at the end of 2024: 175-180, and learn to maintain
Goal to lose 25-30 lbs this year to be in healthy range
    Weight Goals:
1st goal weight: 199 - reach this by March
2nd goal weight: 185 - reach this by July
Ultimate goal weight: 175- reach this by September

@mytime6630 I'm with ya Joan! I'm struggling too! As always!

Can't remember if I ever posted about it but Marley had her ADHD assessment a couple of weeks ago, it went really well. She had a couple more tests to do and then I'm assuming we should get a diagnosis?

But then I am going to go for my diagnosis. I've long suspected it. Ash doesn't seem to think I have it. He DEFINITELY does. But there's 3 types, hyperactive (Ash), inattentive (Me) and Combined, which is a mixture of the two.

So because I'm not like him he thinks I don't have it? So bummed out he doesn't support me fully on it but in the same breath sod him and I'm gonna do it anyway LOL

He also spoke to me about my weight, he's the only one who can, a bit like your husband Joan he can say you're getting a bit bigger without having to go in the garden and start shoveling out his grave.

Ash isn't bothered, but he knows I will be. And he was very polite about it but basically said everything's getting fat again. I've asked for help, he said he would, I just said I've been comfort eating alot and he told me not to worry and I'll feel better when I get in the gym regularly. And he's right I will!

    Only a few more days!

A dress arrived today aswell from TikTok Shop. It's gorgeous, but literally need to lose only a little weight to make it look nice. It even looks nice now, and a decent shape wear would sort out my lumps and bumps but I'd rather lose the weight than hide the weight.

    Hope everyone else is well.
Still want to get back to logging. I need to wait for my brain to deem it important and un-boring to do it again 🙄 I think that's why I find it so hard to stay on track!

    New long term goals:
Drink alcohol only 1 day a week  :smile:

Got out of work a little late so I got to mom's late. I convinced her to let me take her to the grocery store to spend her stipend for food. It was a bit tedious, because she kept forgetting what she had in the cart and wanted to go back and get it. We went down every aisle and I think she got a nice selection of meals, and a *kitten* ton of desserts. I thought about saying something about the total number of sweets, but decided not to. Though it was slow, I counted the hour at the grocery as my walk yesterday. Got her groceries in the house and finally headed home. It was 7:00 before I got home and it had just started raining. Tim is a doll and made Korean rice bowls with shrimp for dinner. TBH it wasn't great, but I didn't have to cook and it was very low calorie, yet filling. I laid down after dinner and went to sleep on the couch. Woke up this morning. Slept well for the first time in ages according to my watch. Also according to my watch my stress levels have been ridiculous lately even when I sleep many nights. I don't know how the watch measures it, but it ain't wrong. Been really fretting over Tim's surgery next week.

Anyway today is half day at work, half day at home. Then go reassemble the submarine at the church. No evening plans.

    Goals for today, friday, 6/7
    1. log all food
    2. keep calories under 1500
    3. aim for 100 gm of protein
    4. eat 1 piece of dark chocolate (I read that just 1 piece, of 95% dark chocolate, helps with cravings and as an appetite suppressent. I;m trying this. Calories for 3 pieces is 180... I'm only eating 1 piece a day, 50 calories.
    5. aim for 8+ cups of water.
