She said to just leave it free now. Showers, but not baths for another two weeks. And I could get a new tube of wound cream to massage it with. I've ordered some fancy French stuff from Amazon, just because....... Arrives tomorrow.
I must say, it 'pulls' a bit more without the bandage on, so I'm more conscious of it, but I guess that will improve.
Came home knackered. I was unaccountably nervous before I went, and I'd woken up for the day at 5 am. So, I had a nice nap.
John is prepping the mushroom risotto we are having for dinner. I will do the stirring etc. Friday night is wine night, so we are having a rosé.
So, another step forward.

So relieved the wound is perfect! Your journey has been inspiring, and really shows us if we pre-prepare for surgeries, we can navigate them well! Some people I have known have had knee, back or hip surgeries and they have never been the same. Wounds not healing, or they didn't do the required after care. You really have to pay attention. The plans doctors give you isn't just a waste of paper. They do know what they're talking about.💖👍🏼
You should be very proud of yourself, and breathe a sigh. Also John has done splendidly! Tell him he can breathe too. I know he has gone thru quite a time. Being on the other side, waiting in the waiting room is the most scariest thing. Acknowledge that.💖🤗

I am a bit overwhelmed i have to grocery shop again...but want to get the right stuff, but to do that I have to go to different stores.
I can do grocery store pick up for a couple.. but have to kinda figure out what im going to eat the next few weeks.
Oh well..I'll figure it out.
See what you have first in your cabinets, freezer, and pantry to make meals, and add ingredients accordingly. Have easy meal nights when what you planned just isn't in the cards. Only buy what's on your list.😁💖🤗

One bit of advice my mother gave me years ago, and I stress with my kids, shop on the outside of the store. Don't browse the aisles. Only go into the lanes when you have something very specific to get.
I'm glad that the drug is working for you, Allie.

Allie - So sorry. What a difficult time for everyone. My thoughts are with you.
Very tired tonight. The mushroom risotto was one of my best ever, I think. Funny how the same recipe produces a different result every time.
I can't quite get my head around the fact that I'm going to go through the exact same thing in another six weeks. Especially as the left hip is not nearly as bad. Seems a bit surreal right now! Last time I was desperate to get in there, now I feel almost normal. But I know from the X-rays that the hip is nearly as bad, and it could deteriorate very fast, just like the first one did. My friend L put her second one off, and then ended up in agony.
I think most of the credit for my recovery is the skill of my surgeon and the anaesthetist team.
I am very fortunate to be able to pay for this. I would still be waiting for a first appointment.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx7 -
Allie: So sorry to hear about Tracy. Praying for you and your little family at this difficult time.
Heather: Your recovery is remarkable. 👌

Allie - oh my, so very sorry to hear this. How far along are the babies? Hugs and prayers for all of you.
Rebecca - Happy Birthday!
Got my lab reports back. A1C hasn't improved, but triglycerides and other lipids are much better than they were 2 years ago, so there's that. Dr. Lisa said don't sweat it, if we can keep the A1C where it is I'll be fine.
"Blind man" Alan came right on time, put new cords through my old blind and it works great. Plus, first thing in the door he got down on his hands and knees and petted Rosie and calmed her down. That's all it took, they were fast friends from then on and no barking and carrying on. He's been petting dogs for a long time and knows all the tricks.

Happy birthday Rebecca!
Allie - so sorry they lost the baby. Hope the other one makes it.
Terri - I know I could block the texts from TTFH but we have been advised not to. If she actually tries to sue us the texts can be used as evidence in our countersuit.
Lanette - I was hoping she had left the area too. Funny thing, I did not mention her name in my conversation but she obviously recognized herself. I think she is still around because her exhusband has full custody of both boys and being here affects her ability to see them.
Got my grocery shopping done. Cool today and we are supposed to have storms tomorrow.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA7 -
Oh Allie, so sad! Hugs and comfort to you and Tracey and the family.

I just finished bowl of fresh picked strawberries. I have a patch at son's house. We have had so much rain they are doing great! I eat them with fresh pineapple. I do not miss the cake. Six months now mostly gluten free. Now down 20 pounds. 163 this morning!
To me one of life's simple pleasures is picking a fresh strawberry and eating right then!

I had skin cancer removed from my hip ... not the same as a hip replacement of course, but I had the pulling you mention too. So I got what they call 'bike shorts' here (but not the real padded bicycle shorts) and wore them under my day clothes. They felt like they held me together and reduced the pulling.
I already do that when I wear dresses and skirts in the summer, but I wore them under my lounging around home pants too.

Hi Gals,
Rebecca – Happy Birthday
Happy Belated Anniversary to Tracey
Allie – sending good thoughts to you, Tracy, Kyle, Carmine and Miles.
Terri – what a beautiful flower arrangement.
Lisa - I took your lead and made Basil, Lemon, Ginger tea for some friends, it was loved!
Beth – Last minute company is kinda like Pip’s boot it gets us into overdrive.
Sue – sorry to hear about your run in with crazy ex renter…. Here is hopes that you never see her again.
Heather – so glad you continue to heal so quickly. And while the medical team deserves kudos, I really think your ongoing exercise, commitment to do PT and to push through the discomfort is the key!
Thinking of you all,
Kim in N. California

Sue - That kind of inadvertent meet up can be very stressful. It's a kind of PTSD. I had that when I had a run in with a neighbourhood bully kid in 1990, whenever he appeared in the street. My whole body would twang and vibrate and my vision narrow. I hope she takes a long walk off a short pier. (We used to say that when we were children)
Terri - I love that card design, and the way it goes off frame. Might use that as inspiration!
Edie is coming this afternoon for 'Art'. She has a painting she wants to finish, that she started just before my op when they came to stay. It's a toucan, on canvas. I have a suspicion she will want to try out the easel John picked up in the street! And I know she will be eager to see my 'cicatrice' , as it says on my French scar cream. Just having the French on the packet cheers me up!
Having Tandoori chicken tonight. Big yum! I'm feeling like egg sandwiches for lunch.
The wound nurse asked me if I was eating well. I had to laugh.
I must say, I feel so unfit, having hardly been able to walk for months. My strength is still there, thanks to the exercises, which has been very important, but I have put weight on and I get out of breath very easily now. Something to work on, and I will be getting out and about more. The outside is a bit scary, because I am afraid of falling, so really need John with me for now. Our pavements are a notorious disgrace. A burning political issue.
Love to all. Heather UK xxxxxxxx5 -

Machka - Well done! Congratulations on one big job finished!
Sue - I'm so sorry TTFH is still infesting your environment. Seems like bad pennies always turn up, doesn't it?
Kim - Glad the basil/lemon/ginger tea was a hit! I never did find fresh ginger yesterday, but plan to try again today. I'll have to plant some at this rate...
Allie - How's Tracy holding up?
Hope all our sickies are feeling better.
As soon as it's light, I'm headed outside to get the mowing done, then get Corey's garden and my flower bed watered. Then hop in the shower, and if I have any energy left, I'm off to pick up a few fresh things from the stores, like ginger and apples for Corey's work week. I've got a long list to get finished before guests get here tomorrow, but much will be inside the house, and after the mowing's done and shopping trip's finished. Corey will be burning brush after he gets up and around.
Later, y'all,
Love,

Hello all! reminder to myself: Never leave this group for a week or more! lol I FINALLY caught up with reading the posts.
Allie- Sending love and hugs to your daughter/family. Maybe a vacation is what she needs to relax and breathe. ?
Beth- Thinking of you as you find care for your mom. So hard! On another note: I am loving all of the updates on your implant! So happy for you!
Rori- Enjoy your company! You always seem to!
Margaret- The peonies are stunning! As a black thumb person; I appreciate all of the visual floral gifts you "growers" give us!
Heather- So glad your surgery went well and your recovery looks like it is coming along nicely! I got a giggle as you talked about the creme cicatrisante. You had been talking of food (mushroom risotto) and Edie coming over; so I thought the creme was a food she would want to try. lol Pretty sure it is not going to taste good!
Lisa- I love hearing about all of the goings on in your home. visitors, home projects, etc. You and Carey work really well together.
Well, I made it through the last couple of weeks. The last minute prep for the historical event and the event itself all went without any major glitches. A couple of minor hiccups, but easily fixed. We had a record turn out for the event and made enough $$ to keep the event going another year AND bring in a few more demonstrators/artisans. Now, what remains to be seen is if we can get enough new board members to spread out the work; because I will not be involved if I am doing as much as I did this year. Being in charge of marketing, volunteers, and the food tent is too much for one person. Especially, one person with a full time job. ANYWAY...it is done. It was fun; but I am so glad it is over! lol
NOW...on to the next summer goals. Getting all of my childcare summer "centers" up and going. I still need to put together our art center, garden tipi, mud kitchen, and a second water/science table (for the older kids). The other projects can wait until fall or next spring. (There is always something...)
My last, but certainly not least, project is me. I HAVE to make myself a priority. It has been about a month since I have taken a walk (just for myself), and my yoga/stretching have gone "poof". My food choices have been HORRIBLE as I try to comfort myself and de-stress by soothing myself with all things creamy, starchy, vacation-y. SO...off to the store I go, to do my weekly shop. My list laden with fruits and veg and a meal plan with less creamy/cheesy and more whole foods and flavors. I can do this. I have done it before, I can do it again.
Love and hugs to all I have not mentioned. Welcome to the new girls and welcome back to Meg ! Off I go to make myself and my corner of the world a little better! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)6 -
Oh did I mention that three of my families are pregnant?! I will have three new infants in my care by January! That will give me eight babies under 2! This makes me tired to think about.3
