The neighbor at son's house is in Tanzania right now. She is on a tour. The tour she is in has many options for those on the tour. The tour program also gives the options to be involved in giving back to the community projects. Another option is to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. My neighbor is not doing that one. Her significant other could not join her on this trip because of neck surgery. He showed me pictures of tanzanite only found in that country. Sounds like she is having a great time.3

@planktonbye (Sarah), Welcome! Tell us a little about yourself and a vague idea of where you are... it helps us keep everyone straight.
OK - So, I got the garden and all the flowerbeds watered, front and back. Filled the bird feeders, both the sunflower seeds and the hummingbird feeder, and then started on the housework. The kitchen counters & stove are clean, dishwasher is running; debating on picking up the rugs to wash, but if I do, I have to vacuum and mop the floors before I put them back down, so still thinking about it. Ate breakfast before I did the dishes... that half a second cup of coffee and a couple scrambled eggs have definitely kept my energy levels high so far.
All kinds of possibilities stretch out in front of me for the rest of the day... it's just a matter of choosing between them.
Later, y'all,
Love,

Migraine continued today through the seminar. Fortunately it wasn't too bad and the room was cool and not too bright and mostly all I had to do was listen. But it got worse into the evening.
Did laundry and hung it up to dry.
Moved some file boxes out of office.
I was trying to see if a bit of exercise would help. It didn't.
Going to bed a bit early tonight.

Yesterday’s dinner: chicken thigh with a slice of pepperoni in it for flavor, roasted potato (roasted with chicken), summer squash and pickled beats with olives. Desert was strawberries in stevia over a biscuit with cool whip. Snack was a peach.
Breakfast today was same, sugar free maple oatmeal with banana, butter, and almond butter.
I eat the same breakfast every day until I run out of that flavor. I’ve got cream of rice coming up next. I will add butter and almond or peanut butter to that too for protein and fat and of course the half banana.

That would be nice but his room is so tiny and he has SOOOO much stuff in there, he can barely walk in there the way it is.3 -

Carol - cute pink cast on your granddaughter. Any idea how long she'll have to wear it?
Allie - I'm unfamiliar with what happens when one of the twins dies in utero. I guess the body resorbs it or puts it in suspended animation of sorts? You haven't mentioned Tracy going in for any procedure. Praying the rest of her pregnancy goes fine.
Rita - thank you again for the info regarding your meals. Are you also tracking them in MFP? I'd be curious what the calories amount to as well as the macros with recommendations from your diabetes prevention program.
This morning I received my calorie and macro recommendation from the Diabetes Prevention coach who is an RD.
She put me at 1500 calories: 80 gm of protein, 44 gm of fats and the rest carbs... over 200 gm which is over twice what I usually eat and I've been successful with slow weight loss over the past few months by just cutting carbs back and adding more healthy fats, so I'm hesitant to start eating more carbs.
I know this is her best guess based on her accepted guidelines and I bet we'll be encouraged to tweak it as time goes on. I'll reset my macro goals a bit (not as drastically as she recommends) and we'll see what happens.
The words of Scarlett O'Hara come to mind, something like this: "As God is my witness, I'll never go hungry again."

Allie - $6.99/week is a small price to pay for your health. If you can afford a cruise, you can afford to take care of yourself, JMO
Lanette – I’ve been in contact with my friend’s husband. I feel she might feel “I don’t want your last memory of me to see me in this condition” which is why I don’t think it would be a good idea to Skype or something like that. However, he did suggest that I give her a call tomorrow since they’re trying a new morphine drug on her tonight. It s***s not to be able to hold her hand. Now they are going to saw a mass for her this Saturday. God is good – I’m scheduled to lector this Saturday. I, in a way, hope I don’t have to say the prayers because they always include a prayer for the person they’re saying the mass for.
It’s in the 90’s here so I went in the pool for a bit. Couldn’t stay too long because I needed to go get my car taken care of for the recall. Yes, it’s only a band-aid fix but I CAN PUT MY CAR IN THE GARAGE. It’s only been 9 months since the recall was announced, that’s all.
When the sun goes down a bit more, I’ll go for my walk in the neighborhood. The plan for tomorrow is to do a 20-40-60 workout on the treadmill then go in the pool. I’ve found that I go in early, do my own thing, then take part of the water aerobics class. Afterwards, I want to stop at Dollar General to see if this one has the distilled water in the jugs we like. They asked me to work at BK next Wednesday. No problem.
At BK lately I’ve been cooking the bacon. At this point, not my most favorite thing to do, but I’m sure it’ll get better the more I do it.
Lisa – a friend of mine (Master Gardener) said not to plant plants during this extremely hot weather. Which is why I haven’t. Wish I could
Sarah – welcome! We’re all looking forward to getting to know you, too
I really need to clean the top of my stove and the inside of the microwave. So why am I not doing it? It’s not like it’s a lot of work. I don’t know….
Carol – spiffy leg cast
Sun is going down so I guess I’ll go for my walk.

Think the baby is to big to absorb ,she passed at 23 weeks I think so the other little girl seems to be doing fine ,so they have a planned c- section but because it is a twin and she has a short uterus ,im sure she will go early.. she is big now.. and her back is really hurting..so when the baby is born so will the stillborn baby 😥7

Michele-how appropriate you lector at the Mass for your friend. If you need to read the prayers you can do it-what a great tribute.
Allie-I had a niece who had to carry a deceased baby to term-I don't remember the particulars, but the medical profession thought it best for mom. The family was with her and they were able to have a burial for the baby so he is always remembered as part of the family. Maybe they can plan some sort of remembrance for the twin.
Dental implant moving along. Got it paid for the rest of the way today. Dentist took measurements. Probably be August 6 before implant crown put in place-I will most likely be in Az when it comes back from lab and then their practice closes last week in July for vacations.
Went to orthopedic offices today (saw PA not surgeon). Implants look very good and stable so that is not pain source. She checked everything out and we are starting with SI joint based on symptoms (I also have some bursitis). She believes being off there ends up giving the pain all the way down the leg and can help explain why the foot interventions aren't helping. Plan is taking steroid dose pack and will do physical therapy to work on gait and core strength (I lost alot of that with suspension surgery in late 2022 and then the two bouts of Covid in 2023 didn't help). My goal is to have this in line in time for my retirement in a few months or so. That is motivation!
Off to get a couple of tasks done.
Take care all,

Today we left for our walk around 5:30am, it was in the 70’s so it was nice. Tomorrow it’s my turn to ride. I’ve been thinking, I ride usually on Monday Wednesday and Fridays and walk the kids on the other days. Kirby rides on the days I walk.
I don’t want to do a long ride on one day then a long run the next day, even though I know I can and have been, I don’t want to wear myself out. My long rides have been 35-45 miles. My long runs are starting to be 8 miles or more. Since I walked today I did what I considered a short run of 4 miles. Tomorrow, I’m going for a short ride (I will be tempted to make it longer, I always do) my max I will try to make it 20 miles at the most to give my legs a break so I can do a long run the following day so my legs won’t feel so worn out. I’m just talking to myself I know but if I plan it out, I will make it so.

Michele-I log in My Net Diary. It’s a thousand times better over there. The community forums are nicer too and far easier to navigate.
Courtesy of Bob and Brad. Made me giggle, especially the kale part. I’d also add broccoli.

Took my walk and then we watched Oppenheimer. Only I didn’t see the end, I need to get to bed. Maybe I can see the end tomorrow. You know, when I’m in the pool or when I walk, that’s the time I get to think. Only right now I’m thinking of all the things my friend and I have been thru.
Tina – I never heard of My Net diary. Gotta check it out. Consumers Reports did a study on the different apps and that one wasn’t mentioned.

Annie - I hope your dad had a more settled day today. It’s as hard on them as it is us I think.
Lisa - I am still rolling it over in my head, it’s a big leap, I have never wanted to be a risk taker and only have secure sources of income so….
I remember hitting 160 20 years ago and thinking I needed to do something, now I want to get down to there again.
I use Excel the same way.
Heather - a lovely picture of you and your friends. I’m so happy you got to see them.
I didn’t even notice the newsfeed was gone. 😂 I only use the diary and the community section.
Barbara - I hope things get fixed with your water soon.
Heather - I love John’s poem.
Allie - How is Tracy doing?
I know there was more to comment on but I am tired.
Aspen had a little fall yesterday and ended up with a black eye. Then this morning she was jumping and fell and stubbed her toe. I think she must be getting ready for a growth spurt, they get so clumsy when that’s happening.
We had a good visit and she slept so well.

Good morning ladies!
Sarah welcome!
Machka sorry about your migraine. I used to get bad ones, but now it's just a bit of aura and then a mild headache. The aura is debilitating because I can't see, but it only lasts half an hour or so.
Michele so sorry about your friend in Switzerland.
Dad got up at six yesterday and started asking me what he was supposed to be doing. I finally got him back to bed for an hour, but I lost my quiet time. Still it was a good day. I got groceries, got a shower, and made some progress with Dad's car.
My nephew in Ohio is interested in the car. I am working on the registration that expired. It might need a new title since Mom passed. Such a mess of paperwork. I tend to forget the details of the paperwork in between sessions. Frustrating.
Anyway, have a great day! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

I quite like MFP's logging capability.
I have used and looked at several other methods and software/apps over the years.
In the beginning (my late teens/early 20s), I tracked on paper looking up calories in my mother's medical textbooks, the library, and wherever else I could find information.
At some point, I started tracking using Excel and I had moved to a larger city with a better library and more information. But tracking still required some research.
I used a few apps along the way, but they didn't have the foods I commonly ate. I remember one hardly had any fresh food, it was all American packaged stuff. I had to enter everything manually.
When I started looking for something new in 2015, I wavered between MFP and LoseIt. Both looked pretty good, but LoseIt lost out because (again) they only had American food. MFP had foods from around the world.
MFP works well for me.
