Re Facebook
I closed my account a few months after my mom died. I wanted to do it sooner, but we used IM to chat all day because she didn't text. My well being improved almost immediately. Comparing my life to the social media image of other lives was irresistible.
Take care of yourself, Rebecca.

Today’s gratitude:Joe’s eyes were clearer, brighter and less swollen/painful appearing this morning. Tumble’s trotting with her usual vigor, not favoring any limbs. When Joe checked the storage tanks this morning they were “the fullest and clearest they’ve ever been." Target’s free return donate-in-lieu-of-shipping policy. Blessings upon blessings.
Rita beautiful salad! My mouth is watering. Thank you for “firgun!”
Lisa, assuming you can’t tolerate organic, grass fed, full fat organic yogurt with live cultures. ;} This is spendy ($41.99 at Natural Grocers), and must be kept refrigerated, but I’ve had good results with https://naturesway.com/products/fortify-optima-age-50-advanced-care-90-billion-probiotic-prebiotics?variant=43405110083798.
Tracey holding good thoughts for your interview. Hope the people are compatible, the work is as advertised ;} If you want it, you’ve got it, galfriend!
While watching a long-ago-recorded episode of Celebrity Jeopardy, saw an ad that really spoke to me. This is longer than the ad was but has more. https://youtu.be/sD-R2OzcleQ

A month passes quickly. Somehow I thought he went last week. But then my brain is still located somewhere in May or June
I'm standing at the bus stop tonight amazed that the sky isn't pitch black. When did that change happen??
It seems like the sun was setting about 4:30 just a few days ago.

Hello, ladies; sorry I have been MIA. I just got word that my orthotic was ready. I visited my mom and brought her a huggable teddy bear. A guy was performing for the residents. My mom was having so much fun. My mom gave me the best hug. Rose was with me and was so happy to see my mom. I was so exhausted.
I am looking forward to planning a visit with my son next month, so I was looking into things I wanted to do in New York. I want to go to the Metropolitan Museum and the Empire State Building and see a
Broadway show.
Here's an update on my patient: I don't know if I told you that my blue-eyed cherub did more gymnastics and pulled out her trach. There were no alarms. The tech went into the room to stock. She looked over, and she was blue. So they called a code. She was in PI, and now she is back and back to her busy self at 15 months. Thank goodness. We had another code that night as well. I wonder if it was a full moon?
@cityjane London, all schools wear uniforms, so those who don't have fancy clothes don't feel bad. Max looks very dapper in his suit. That pic looks like Harry and Hermione. My husband used to play Dungeons and Dragons. I saw them in action when we visited his hometown in Omaha.
@Anniesquats100 I understand your frustration, but you must tell your dad you have things to do and will pick him up when you are done. Putting our parents in a home or, in your case, Adult daycare is a complex process. I had to talk to my therapist to help me with the guilt of putting my mom in a
home. Just know I am praying for you.
@LisaInArkansas - Boy, you all get up early in the morning. 4:45 a.m. Wow, that is impressive.
@grandmallie - did you decide what to do to your hair for the trip? I want to see pics.
@Machka9 Congratulations on your new house, and enjoy the peace.
@Snowflake1968 - How is the scrapbooking going?
@auntiebk —My blue-eyed cherub loves only Miss Rachel, and I learned how to sign with her. I love that she works with speech with the tots. My son loved the Teletubbies, but I pushed other shows due to his speech delay. I agree the Teletubbies are less annoying, though. Coco Melon and Gracie's Corner are the other popular ones. Some parents do not allow us to show Coco Melon due to brainwashing.?? Gracie's Corner is so repetitive it drives me crazy!3 -
I suspect a lot of people don't use Facebook as a tool and don't make use of all the features to see what they want to see and not stuff they don't want to see.
That said I am not sure what people do use Facebook for.
There's very little in the way of politics and emotions in my Facebook feed.
It just contains the things I want to see. It's simply an information source. With a bit of my kind of humour.

If you don't use Facebook, how do you find your information?
-- events that are taking place in your area that you might want to attend (for example, on Facebook, I found out that thee is a model train show in August)
-- upcoming road construction
-- what other cycling organisations are up to
-- yummy looking low cal recipes
-- sales on at my favourite dress shop
-- wellness articles
And more!
It's a one-stop shop for me.

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Debbie good luck getting your mom's roommate out!
Rebecca hugs!
Allie, I agree, you can say no. Hugs!
Tracey thinking about your interview today.
My Facebook is full of paintings, bird photos, and video clips from sitcoms. There are two political sources, but they align with me, so it's not upsetting. I'm pretty quick to block anything I don't care for.
My latest favorite painter is Kaoru Yamaha. The way he paints light is so lovely! I also see a lot of lesser known paintings by famous impressionists. Klimt often impresses me.
Yesterday I read a book instead of doing the invites for my Dad's party. I really enjoyed it - thank you Lisa! - Lavender's Blue by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer. Fascinating that it was written by a man and a woman together. I ordered the next two books. Looking forward to that!
Today is a little cooler, which will be good for horseback riding. Yay! Today's challenge is that I didn't get to buy groceries on Tuesday so we are running low on nearly everything. I will go tomorrow, when Dad is at class, but then I won't get my hair dyed. My roots are getting bad, but the horse won't care.
May you all have a great day! And may you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Busy morning. I didn't do my usual exercises because both my hips were hurting. I'm putting it down to the low pressure and humidity, or the high pollen count. My sinuses know it.
So I washed my hair, gave myself a pedicure, and went out around the corner to the butcher to buy beef and pork mince for meatballs. Picked up a few bits from the deli. Came home to find Amazon had delivered my black cargo pants that I ordered yesterday, on Prime Day. I've had my eye on them for some time. Not real cargos, more refined and silky, wide leg. Unfortunately, they are a little too long, so I have been shortening them, and have finished one leg.
First I mixed up the meatball mixture and put it in the fridge, and I've just now rolled all 32 of them and got them in the oven.
We will have 8 between us for dinner with tomato sauce and peas. Wholegrain spelt spaghetti. So 3 more dinners in the freezer. Hooray!
The young man in the butcher had trouble doing the maths for my instructions of 1 kg with two thirds beef and one third pork. I gave him the numbers, but he didn't get enough pork in there. I'm sure it'll be fine.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxx1 -

Not entirely peaceful yet. Still a lot of work before we complete the move. We've got to finish moving the basement from the previous location into our storage unit. And so much unpacking!!
Although, that said, I have actually hired a cleaning company to do the end of lease clean because I just did not want to do it. I've also hired a company to do the carpet steam clean and a company to do the pest removal. I will be hiring yet another company to do the window ... maybe I'll phone them tomorrow.
BUT there are moments where we sit and enjoy.
Packing, moving, unpacking ...

Machka - I'm learning a LOT this time around about how to use Facebook in ways that make it make sense for me--I've become absolutely savage about shutting off ads, almost wholesale, as there are very few that appeal to me. If someone looks even slightly off in a group or as "recommended," I block them. If someone I have as a friend posts something sideways, I snooze them for 30 days. As you're aware, that's how Facebook learns what you want and shapes your feed in a way that makes sense for you.
Flea - Genuinely not sure why people compare their lives to others. Envy doesn't make sense to me at all, nor does regret. Both poison the present and change nothing in terms of your circumstance.
Rebecca - I'm hearing the edges in your voice, not least through your cutting ties in Facebook. I was reading the exchange that precipitated it, and it was genuinely not your usual way of interacting. Not the subject matter, I knew how you felt already, but just HOW you said it. Not your usual self. Figured it was because your situation is pushing all your buttons--and when you throw in exhaustion from sleeping on an air mattress, all bets are off. Hope the conversations with your son help things change. It's not a good situation, but you know that already.
Tracey - All KINDS of good thoughts coming your way for that interview. I'm sure you'll get through it with flying colors. You know the work and the pressures, and what it would be like if you'd had a reasonable human being in charge. You'll do great! The first time I saw my granddaughter drawing a beautiful gown without an image in front of her, just from her own imagination, I was absolutely awed. Their hearts and minds are so amazing.
Heather - The pants sound lovely, both comfortable and stylish. I picked up a couple things on the Prime Days sales as well, including an immersion blender, the one you put in the pan to mix everything instead of pouring hot mixtures into a blender or food processor. I think Corey will like it a lot. I resisted until the price was reasonable.
Barbara AHMOD - So pleased to hear that Tumble is doing better, just hate it that when the furry ones are hurting, they can't tell you why or exactly where. Egg was in my lap every time I turned around yesterday, acting like she didn't feel good. Got lots of petting, at her insistence. Really unusual behavior. Today she's out and about as usual.
Monique ( @mcmillonmail ) - My sleeping habits are still a wreck from my working years, when I was always the first one in, sometimes two or three hours early, and four years later, I'm still struggling with it. I love being able to let my body decide when to get up instead of getting up to an alarm, but would like to be able to get a routine going. I'm so glad your little blue-eyed gymnastical cherub pulled through with y'all's help. The missing alarm is awful scary!
Debbie - Hope your mom is able to follow through with evicting the moocher. I agree with the advice for you to be up there as much as possible to make sure things go well with that... and for the cleanup that I'm sure will be needed afterward.
Annie - I'm SO glad you liked Lavender's Blue. I thought you might! And the other two in the trilogy are just as good, which is most unusual in my experience. They'll be publishing the first in another trilogy called "Rocky Start," soon, but I'm going to wait until they've published all three, as I'm not terribly good at waiting once I'm in the middle of a story. Since you like Lavender's Blue, you would enjoy their "Agnes and the Hitman," too. Wasn't too impressed with the sequels, but loved the first one. They seem to be getting better as a team as they go along.
Barbie - I hope Jake's doing well on the home chemo.
Onward and upward on my side of things - slept more than 8 hours last night! One wake-up about midnight, then didn't get up until 7 this morning, it was glorious... Should be getting a "good morning" call from Corey here shortly.
Hope it is/was a good day for everyone,
Time to get some quilting done!

Tracey - good luck at the interview today!! I know you'll do well.
Machka - I mostly use FB like I used to use the daily newspaper, which is no longer daily. Local news, events, sales, obits. I seem to have a lot of "friends" but only follow a couple. But it's nice to pop in and see what folks are up to when I have the time.
Rebecca - sorry, I whipped through a lot of posts this past week so missed part of your babysitting story. Are the grands at your house or did you go to their house? Seems it's a tough job even for someone 20 years younger when you aren't used to it, and even if you are. Hope they can make other arrangements.
Debbie - hope your mom's roommate gets out of there with minimal hassle.
Seems like I've been discombobulated ever since my company a week ago. Many trips to town, which I'm also not used to, eating a bit off. Today lunch in town with my friend M then tomorrow another lunch with my other friends. What else.....
Tuesday afternoon - trip to town to get new orthotics. I'm afraid the left one will need tweaking, I wore it for a few hours yesterday and it didn't take long for damaged metatarsal to complain. It's probably only off an eighth of an inch. Joe the orthotic maker said let him know if there's a problem. I'm guessing he has to tweak most of the orthotics he makes.
Yesterday morning Kitty to the vet -I took her to in catch up on shots and have her paw checked for the ingrown claw. Turns out, she had THREE ingrown claws - some infection, plus has numerous fatty tumors. They took her to the back of the clinic to take care of her claws, and after a few minutes the tech popped her head into the room where I was and asked if I wanted them to shave her a bit to get rid of some of the mats. YES!!! About 15 minutes after that, the Vet, Dr. Amanda, came into the room and took me back where they were shaving her. Kitty is/was a black longhair. Amanda said kitty had a heart murmur, some bad teeth and she felt with Kitty's age (17) it wasn't worth biopsying anything and putting her through it. I agreed 100% (I was ready to protest in case advanced measures were suggested) and we decided she's on "comfort care" from here on out. Amanda said her hair might not grow back at this stage, or grow back straggly and Kitty might need a sweater this winter. They gave her a "lion" haircut - she still has hair on her face and neck, bare back and belly. Also a shot of antibiotic $$$$ but it saved me from trying to jam pills down her for a week.
I was so grateful they trimmed her for me. Amanda also told me they don't recommend people trying to cut off these mats themselves, too much risk of injuring the cat since their skin is so thin and the mats are so close. They do nail trims when needed and mat trims or full body trims like they did yesterday. When I called to make the appointment for Kitty's claws, I asked about cutting out mats and the NEW receptionist I spoke with said they don't trim unless the cat is in for surgery. I was disappointed and dreading having to keep taking sharp sewing shears to clean up Kitty, who would only tolerate it for a couple minutes before the wiggling and biting would start. I never nicked her. What a relief to find out they do this all the time!!! I take Rosie in next week for her shots and will let Amanda know that I was given bad info.
Kitty was pretty much DH's cat. She loved him, let him keep her trimmed and taken care of. Me - she tolerated. So it's been a struggle to keep up with her grooming over the past few years.
Need to catch up on a few things here before heading off to town. Make it a wonderful day!

Rebecca - Does Athena have a full sized bed you could sleep in and her on the air mattress?
My brother when I went to visit in 2016 put me on the couch while my 12 year old nephew had a double bed. I was not impressed.
Hopefully they get things all sorted soon.
Barbara - Lots to be grateful for today. Happy to read about Joe’s eyes and the cistern.
I love that ad! Dove started their real beauty campaign just as my eldest was turning 15. I started using their products because of it. They had an online campaign for teen girls and I had my girls watch it. I think it really helped my girls and me.
Machka - I noticed there are leaves falling and some changing here. I think it’s because it’s so hot. I also noticed it’s dark by 1030 when it seemed just a week ago it was after 11.
@mcmillonmail - it’s so nice to see our parents happy in a home. My mom is quite happy and content in hers.
My scrapbooking is stalled a bit, it’s been too hot to work in the room I have it set up in.
Machka - I’m with you on FB I get a lot of community information there. I keep mine pretty clean with only things I want to see. What I don’t want to see that friends share, I just scroll on by.
Annie - enjoy your ride today.
Heather - sorry you’re having some pain today, weather sure does affect our systems though.
Lisa - I love reading that you are getting sleep. It makes everything so much nicer when we can get it.
Lanette - what a relief that kitty was shaved. The vet sounds lovely.
I need to go figure out what I’m wearing to the interview today. I’m sure when Miss Michaela wakes up she will have an opinion.
She didn’t go to sleep until very late last night so I’m glad she’s sleeping in a bit this morning. It is currently 830, I have an hour and a bit to go before the interview.

@Lisa I take probiotics every day now since I started with the colitis 4 years ago. I like to vary the amount of probiotics to make sure all types are covered. I started with an expensive high numbered-90 million or more- probiotic. Finished that bottle first then have been doing a great variety of numbers and brands. I feel that they all are made differently and carry different probiotics in them so covering as many types as I can to get the best effect from them. I’ve gotten them from everywhere, starting with a health food store where they needed to be refrigerated to Walmart generic listing only 1 type of probiotic on the bottle. This is what works for me…. You do you! 😊
Yesterday dinner was leftover pizza, baked beans, BBQ chicken drumstick, and pan fried sweet potatoes. Double grains and double protein. Not enough veggies. I made up for that with all the fruits I had during the day starting with Crasins, raisins, 1/2 banana, and dates in muesli and Oikos Triple zero yogurt. Orange and 1/2 apple for snacks. Supper was the same as last night Naan with almond butter. I had wanted to try naan and found it at Alberson’s. I bought a package and really like it. This is something I will buy again. I had the last one last night.
