Machka - I'm learning a LOT this time around about how to use Facebook in ways that make it make sense for me--I've become absolutely savage about shutting off ads, almost wholesale, as there are very few that appeal to me. If someone looks even slightly off in a group or as "recommended," I block them. If someone I have as a friend posts something sideways, I snooze them for 30 days. As you're aware, that's how Facebook learns what you want and shapes your feed in a way that makes sense for you.
Flea - Genuinely not sure why people compare their lives to others. Envy doesn't make sense to me at all, nor does regret. Both poison the present and change nothing in terms of your circumstance.
Rebecca - I'm hearing the edges in your voice, not least through your cutting ties in Facebook. I was reading the exchange that precipitated it, and it was genuinely not your usual way of interacting. Not the subject matter, I knew how you felt already, but just HOW you said it. Not your usual self. Figured it was because your situation is pushing all your buttons--and when you throw in exhaustion from sleeping on an air mattress, all bets are off. Hope the conversations with your son help things change. It's not a good situation, but you know that already.
Tracey - All KINDS of good thoughts coming your way for that interview. I'm sure you'll get through it with flying colors. You know the work and the pressures, and what it would be like if you'd had a reasonable human being in charge. You'll do great! The first time I saw my granddaughter drawing a beautiful gown without an image in front of her, just from her own imagination, I was absolutely awed. Their hearts and minds are so amazing.
Heather - The pants sound lovely, both comfortable and stylish. I picked up a couple things on the Prime Days sales as well, including an immersion blender, the one you put in the pan to mix everything instead of pouring hot mixtures into a blender or food processor. I think Corey will like it a lot. I resisted until the price was reasonable.
Barbara AHMOD - So pleased to hear that Tumble is doing better, just hate it that when the furry ones are hurting, they can't tell you why or exactly where. Egg was in my lap every time I turned around yesterday, acting like she didn't feel good. Got lots of petting, at her insistence. Really unusual behavior. Today she's out and about as usual.
Monique ( @mcmillonmail ) - My sleeping habits are still a wreck from my working years, when I was always the first one in, sometimes two or three hours early, and four years later, I'm still struggling with it. I love being able to let my body decide when to get up instead of getting up to an alarm, but would like to be able to get a routine going. I'm so glad your little blue-eyed gymnastical cherub pulled through with y'all's help. The missing alarm is awful scary!
Debbie - Hope your mom is able to follow through with evicting the moocher. I agree with the advice for you to be up there as much as possible to make sure things go well with that... and for the cleanup that I'm sure will be needed afterward.
Annie - I'm SO glad you liked Lavender's Blue. I thought you might! And the other two in the trilogy are just as good, which is most unusual in my experience. They'll be publishing the first in another trilogy called "Rocky Start," soon, but I'm going to wait until they've published all three, as I'm not terribly good at waiting once I'm in the middle of a story. Since you like Lavender's Blue, you would enjoy their "Agnes and the Hitman," too. Wasn't too impressed with the sequels, but loved the first one. They seem to be getting better as a team as they go along.
Barbie - I hope Jake's doing well on the home chemo.
Onward and upward on my side of things - slept more than 8 hours last night! One wake-up about midnight, then didn't get up until 7 this morning, it was glorious... Should be getting a "good morning" call from Corey here shortly.
Hope it is/was a good day for everyone,
Time to get some quilting done!

Tracey - good luck at the interview today!! I know you'll do well.
Machka - I mostly use FB like I used to use the daily newspaper, which is no longer daily. Local news, events, sales, obits. I seem to have a lot of "friends" but only follow a couple. But it's nice to pop in and see what folks are up to when I have the time.
Rebecca - sorry, I whipped through a lot of posts this past week so missed part of your babysitting story. Are the grands at your house or did you go to their house? Seems it's a tough job even for someone 20 years younger when you aren't used to it, and even if you are. Hope they can make other arrangements.
Debbie - hope your mom's roommate gets out of there with minimal hassle.
Seems like I've been discombobulated ever since my company a week ago. Many trips to town, which I'm also not used to, eating a bit off. Today lunch in town with my friend M then tomorrow another lunch with my other friends. What else.....
Tuesday afternoon - trip to town to get new orthotics. I'm afraid the left one will need tweaking, I wore it for a few hours yesterday and it didn't take long for damaged metatarsal to complain. It's probably only off an eighth of an inch. Joe the orthotic maker said let him know if there's a problem. I'm guessing he has to tweak most of the orthotics he makes.
Yesterday morning Kitty to the vet -I took her to in catch up on shots and have her paw checked for the ingrown claw. Turns out, she had THREE ingrown claws - some infection, plus has numerous fatty tumors. They took her to the back of the clinic to take care of her claws, and after a few minutes the tech popped her head into the room where I was and asked if I wanted them to shave her a bit to get rid of some of the mats. YES!!! About 15 minutes after that, the Vet, Dr. Amanda, came into the room and took me back where they were shaving her. Kitty is/was a black longhair. Amanda said kitty had a heart murmur, some bad teeth and she felt with Kitty's age (17) it wasn't worth biopsying anything and putting her through it. I agreed 100% (I was ready to protest in case advanced measures were suggested) and we decided she's on "comfort care" from here on out. Amanda said her hair might not grow back at this stage, or grow back straggly and Kitty might need a sweater this winter. They gave her a "lion" haircut - she still has hair on her face and neck, bare back and belly. Also a shot of antibiotic $$$$ but it saved me from trying to jam pills down her for a week.
I was so grateful they trimmed her for me. Amanda also told me they don't recommend people trying to cut off these mats themselves, too much risk of injuring the cat since their skin is so thin and the mats are so close. They do nail trims when needed and mat trims or full body trims like they did yesterday. When I called to make the appointment for Kitty's claws, I asked about cutting out mats and the NEW receptionist I spoke with said they don't trim unless the cat is in for surgery. I was disappointed and dreading having to keep taking sharp sewing shears to clean up Kitty, who would only tolerate it for a couple minutes before the wiggling and biting would start. I never nicked her. What a relief to find out they do this all the time!!! I take Rosie in next week for her shots and will let Amanda know that I was given bad info.
Kitty was pretty much DH's cat. She loved him, let him keep her trimmed and taken care of. Me - she tolerated. So it's been a struggle to keep up with her grooming over the past few years.
Need to catch up on a few things here before heading off to town. Make it a wonderful day!

Rebecca - Does Athena have a full sized bed you could sleep in and her on the air mattress?
My brother when I went to visit in 2016 put me on the couch while my 12 year old nephew had a double bed. I was not impressed.
Hopefully they get things all sorted soon.
Barbara - Lots to be grateful for today. Happy to read about Joe’s eyes and the cistern.
I love that ad! Dove started their real beauty campaign just as my eldest was turning 15. I started using their products because of it. They had an online campaign for teen girls and I had my girls watch it. I think it really helped my girls and me.
Machka - I noticed there are leaves falling and some changing here. I think it’s because it’s so hot. I also noticed it’s dark by 1030 when it seemed just a week ago it was after 11.
@mcmillonmail - it’s so nice to see our parents happy in a home. My mom is quite happy and content in hers.
My scrapbooking is stalled a bit, it’s been too hot to work in the room I have it set up in.
Machka - I’m with you on FB I get a lot of community information there. I keep mine pretty clean with only things I want to see. What I don’t want to see that friends share, I just scroll on by.
Annie - enjoy your ride today.
Heather - sorry you’re having some pain today, weather sure does affect our systems though.
Lisa - I love reading that you are getting sleep. It makes everything so much nicer when we can get it.
Lanette - what a relief that kitty was shaved. The vet sounds lovely.
I need to go figure out what I’m wearing to the interview today. I’m sure when Miss Michaela wakes up she will have an opinion.
She didn’t go to sleep until very late last night so I’m glad she’s sleeping in a bit this morning. It is currently 830, I have an hour and a bit to go before the interview.

My SIL says my brother has a court date sometime in July and she wont be there and he will need a ride insinuating that I have to drive 5 hrs and take him to court.. I don't think so.. first of all ,I have drs appointments lined up for the next few months for myself and Doris and his son lives an hr and a 1/2 away and our cousins are about a mile away.. dont know if he will still be at the lake house then or not.. who knows.. but honestly..I have enough on my plate...🙄
Why doesn’t the sister-in-law take him? It’s her husband?1 -
Rebecca- and this to shall pass...I know I can't take care of toddler's thats for sure..
Miles would wear me out, every once in awhile ,but not all the time...
Another horrible night of sleeping... oh well.. Tomorrow is echocardiogram3 -
@Lisa I take probiotics every day now since I started with the colitis 4 years ago. I like to vary the amount of probiotics to make sure all types are covered. I started with an expensive high numbered-90 million or more- probiotic. Finished that bottle first then have been doing a great variety of numbers and brands. I feel that they all are made differently and carry different probiotics in them so covering as many types as I can to get the best effect from them. I’ve gotten them from everywhere, starting with a health food store where they needed to be refrigerated to Walmart generic listing only 1 type of probiotic on the bottle. This is what works for me…. You do you! 😊
Yesterday dinner was leftover pizza, baked beans, BBQ chicken drumstick, and pan fried sweet potatoes. Double grains and double protein. Not enough veggies. I made up for that with all the fruits I had during the day starting with Crasins, raisins, 1/2 banana, and dates in muesli and Oikos Triple zero yogurt. Orange and 1/2 apple for snacks. Supper was the same as last night Naan with almond butter. I had wanted to try naan and found it at Alberson’s. I bought a package and really like it. This is something I will buy again. I had the last one last night.

Today is: Listen to all those baby fishes cry while eating the caviar! I’ve never had it and probably will never have it!
I finished making this yesterday and craft #11 of the 12 on my goal list! Made a few mistakes, but it is pretty anyway. Not sure if I’ll use it much, but at least I can say I made it myself!

Tracey - I hope the interview went well.
Finished my hemming, and then steamed the pants to get rid of packing creases.
We had just sat down to eat my absolutely delicious meatballs when my brother rang. He said he would ring back when I had finished, and I could tell something was up. I rang him the minute after we were done.
He told me he has cancer of the back of the tongue and soft palate. Seeing all kinds of folk next week, including oncologist. Looks like radiotherapy, chemo etc, not surgery. He will have to have some teeth out in prep.
He is T2 diabetic.
I know it's not good, but he is being very philosophical. All his kids etc now know.
I am close to my brother and love him very much. I don't yet know how I feel because it's taking me a while to process it. I do know that it's not a great place to get cancer.
Much love Heather UK xxxxxxxx7 -
Heather- Cancer sucks no matter where it is,im so very sorry.. I have a nagging feeling that something might be brewing like that with my water works but wont know that without more testing.. and for me alot of prayer. Hope you e joyed those pictures of SMiles 😃4

Heather - I'm sorry about the news for your brother, and hope the chemo, etc., is very successful. If I remember right, this is the gentleman with the red-haired wife, yes? Life can change in an instant, it seems. Hoping for the best.3

Allie - Love those summer "SMiles" pictures!! He's so photogenic! Good luck with the echo, hope you make it there this time without any vehicle interruptions!
Heather - so sorry to hear about your brother. Hoping it's caught early enough that the proposed treatment will take care of it and he'll have many long and happy years left.
Michele - Debbie - any of you with old cats.... have you ever put sweaters on one? If so, where did you get the sweaters and how'd the kitty like it? If Kitty is still with me this winter, and needs one, I think I'll dig out some of the old dog/puppy sweaters I kept around, maybe one of those would work if she doesn't fight too hard. She does have a heated space, but I only keep it around 65 and that's if she's laying right next to the heater.

I have never had to put a sweater on a cat.
You can get little heating pads for pets- Have that on for her if she gets cold. She will gravitate to the warmth.

Got our new cover for our stove (we don’t use it), more counter space!

Lanette - we have a heating pad for our barn cat that turns on when she steps on it and off when she leaves it. Seems to work really well. I have had a cat that we shaved every spring because she got so matted when she shed out her undercoat. By fall it was mostly grown back and she made it through the SD winters just fine. She was a housecat though.
Heather - so sorry to hear about your brother. Sending him healing thoughts.
Rebecca - those grandkids can really wear you out. I always loved when my DGS came to SD to visit but I was equally glad to see him go home. By then I really needed some time to myself. Glad you are able to help out though. Just remember to breathe.
Sunny and dry here. Horses spending lots of time in the pasture because it is shadier there. Went to water exercise and got oil change on VW. This is one of those days when the fatigue gets me and I am really tired.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA5 -
Tracey – do you know if you can use dry brushing on glazes? Everything I’ve seen on uTube is about acrylics
I got some shorts from Penney’s. There is one pair that fits me well. Another pair, same manufacturer, same size, but it’s too big for me. Go figure! And I can’t return them since I took the tags off
After work today went and picked up Shadow’s ashes (Jess’ cat). Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if she came down here this weekend to get the ashes. Update: she asked Vince to text her pics of the urn. She got a special one in the shape of a cat
My neighbor is telling everyone in the neighborhood to come and get blueberries off her bushes. I need to find out if Jess and/or Colby like blueberries. I’ll pick some for them. I don’t think Jess does, but maybe Colby does
You know, Vince is spending a lot of time with the kitties. Honestly, I’m getting a little concerned. He spent so much time with Loki that when we’d go away, Loki would want a lot of attention when we got back, I don’t think he knew how to handle himself without us. I mentioned to Vince that he might not want to spend so much time with them so that they don’t get dependent on him and play more with each other. Guess we shall see what happens
Lanette – I’ve been meaning to tell you, remember you posted that pic of the type of shoe that your doc recommended for your PF? Well, I’ve been wearing my crocs and I honestly feel they’re more comfortable than the orthotic. Not sure if it’s going to help, but I don’t think that the orthotic does either. When I go to see him next week, I’m going to take the crocs with me and show him.
Oh, the store manager at BK said that next year they’re going to tear down the bldg and put up a new one. Probably like the one in FL. I’m not saying anything since it can fall thru. Not to panic people.
Heather – I’m so sorry about your brother
Lanette – we never used a sweater for any of our cats as they got older. Jess didn’t either (even when she was in Iowa), and she just lost her cat who was 18.

Allie - Miles sure is a happy boy.
Rita - did you have a pattern for that water bottle holder? It’s pretty.
Heather - Your brother’s call must have been a shock. Hugs to you.
Rebecca - Michaela was going on yesterday about how she only likes homemade Mac and cheese. Nana makes it and it’s delicious. I am Grammie. I don’t make Mac and cheese, but apparently need a recipe. 😂
Pip - I love those covers for stoves in a small kitchen.
Sue - the horses sound like they have the right idea.
Michele - I don’t know about dry brushing with glazes. I haven’t used glazes except for one project. I prefer acrylics. I can ask the lady that owns the shop I attend. It will be the first of the week though.
I think that the interview went well. It’s between me and one other candidate. The next step is a call from the corporate office for a second interview. They are hoping to make a decision soon though.
Next Friday is one month since I applied. It’s a long process.
I think a storm may be blowing in. I see the trees starting to move. I don’t mind that for the drop in temperature, but when it’s been this hot it’s always a tornado risk.
Michaela forgot her favourite stuffie. This is Patches. She has had her since birth. Her brother also has a stuffie with blue spots, his name is Gus.
I have decided to make this a little Patches and Grammie adventure. I’m going to take pictures of her in different places to send to Michaela.
This was Patches supervising me watering the flowers.
This is Michaela’s projects from ceramics camp and her colouring she finished this morning.

Athena and Eli both had mac & cheese for dinner. Eli was just such a sweet bird. I had mooches a banana and he ate that! 💖. Both of them ate good, played hard and slept wonderfully! A success!
I had a salad kit with bacon and something crunchy brown sugary. The salad kit it called bourbon bacon so the dressing was like a sweet balsamic. I put some clover sprouts, and some bleu cheese crumbled in it. Along side was some spoonfuls of 4% cottage cheese. I inhaled it as I don't eat during the day. Had some cottage cheese with some pickled asparagus, beets and mushrooms. Couldn't eat it all. The salad serves 3 but I probably had almost two servings.
Athena is learning Japanese when I do my Duolingo course.😁
Yeah tomorrow is Friday!
